@Allycat:

Mr Man you seem not to understand the issue well. Look back to 17 years when Military handed over to civilian government, things have gone worse.

The major challenge that leads to that is the lapses of lack of discipline in democratic practices. The who Nigeria is corrupt, politicians even lawyers are corrupt.

And this will continue till jesus comes if not checkmate.

We need military intervention to restructure Nigeria. Present set of politicians can do that. For example, what has happened to the referendum during Jonathan era?

There are influences from all angles frustrating the implementation. This is a shame

Again, Buhari forwarded a Anti-corruption bill to NASS, till today nothing has being done about it.

I'm not a kid as you insinuated. By 1999 I had already started a Nursery and Primary School which is still functioning till date.

In 1984-85 I witnessed Buhari's government which I can make references to in comparing to present dispensation.

Mohammad Buhari has intention to revive Nigeria but democracy does not permit.

If you look at the past of Military influences in Nigeria government, you just have to agree with my opinion.

Forget about the pas military leaders who are rich by crook, we need them to enact policy.

Imagine, Military can bar Tinubu, Amechi, Alimodu Sherrif, other from participating in politics but Democracy can not.

The present set of Military leaders are more wiser and innovative. We hhave both learnt fron our 17yrs democratic errors.

We need them.

Imagine, a filling station is supppose to sell fuel at N86.50k but selling at N120 and you expect democracy to continue.

I live very close to two filling stations, one sells normal price while other sells N120. That's what is destroying Nigeria.

Arise O Lord,
Influence The Military
To Lead Us Out Of Bondage

Rubbish

Our so called military from korofo to field Marshall are all Nigerians and we including me are as bad as each other, Gaddafi was a idealistic colonel who made himself defacto king.

Keep quoting N86 a litre, don't ask much it costs to get that elusive litre to your petrol station. Would you sell any item in your own shop for below cost price especially when there is a shortage? Patriotic or not patrotic.

My friend think of progressive ideas that curb individual political power, that encourage commercial enterprise and create wealth for the polity, not this backward thinking of giving power to a few smartly dressed ex NDA boys

Him go tey for kuje
GOODLUCK to him

Sorry my friend, you are so wrong . Badeh and his friends will not put down one kobo and he will leave detention because he will meet the conditions.

As long he and his friends can demonstrate to the court that if he absconds they will bring the bail money (N4bn or whatever), he will be granted bail.

Usually the prove is in landed property with C of O to the value of the bail amount. Easy done if you have property in certain parts of Abuja.

Young woman, pls before u proceed with ur vexation for the judiciary, let's look at the condition of the bail. He is alleged to have stolen 3.9billion naira and he has been asked to be bailed for 4billion naira(2billions and 1billion each from 2 sureties).... Fair enough, don't u think?

After this, he will face a lengthy trial with his attorneys milking him seriously after which he will still end up in kuje.

Now this is change, if u will agree with me though

bros any bail condition is a bound between the accused and the court. where it involves miney are not expected to pay but must produce what will worth the condition attached. the reason behind this is when the accused abscond the surety will lose all he has put at stake.

So why does the court ask for a surety in position of civil servant? Go and study law better my friend.

No money is held by the court!!! Those that stand surety for the accused will forfeit their pledged assets if the accused does not attend court.

It is between the court and the sureties, not the accused

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, at the weekend ended speculations that the current administration will revoke contracts awarded under former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Fashola spoke in Abuja at the Nigerian Pension Industry Strategy Implementation Roadmap meeting.

The former Lagos governor lamented how successive governments revoked contracts of previous regimes, noting that the practice destroyed investor confidence in an economy. The minister stated that if approved contracts must be touched, the best approach was to renegotiate rather than outright revocation.

“We must not play politics with our economy. Investors want continuity,” he said.

Fashola warned against playing politics with economic survival, as investors want continuity of government policies.

If this is true, then those that won contracts will sue the federal government, just like when Buhari cancelled the Lagos Metro line in 1984/5 and paid more in damages than the metro would have cost

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Friday, 22nd January 2016, granted the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Olisa Metuh bail in the sum of 300 million Naira and two sureties in like sum. Metuh is facing a seven-count charge of criminal breach of trust, corruption and money laundering.

In the ruling on Friday, the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Justice Ishaq Bello, stressed that the sureties must be resident in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. There have been mixed reactions as to how Metuh who is still being detained will meet the bail conditions. Pastor Adeboye's son Leke is one of the Nigerians puzzled at what will happen to Metuh's bail money. Below is what he(Leke Adeboye) shared on Facebook:

I have two questions.
1. Where does a normal man get 300 million N. That's 1Million dollars o. As bail money
2. What happens to the bail money. Who keeps it and who uses it

https://www.facebook.com/LekeAdeboye/

Why are Nigerians so ignorant? Even this rich kid with all his education doesn't know what court bail means? Does he think this is local Nigerian police station where DPO use the term 'bail' to collect bribe from friends and relatives of any unfortunate accused person?

Bail in a law court means evidence of funds, usually in form of landed property, sometimes the court may even accept share certificates to the amount requested as bail.

Surety will forfeit the property if the accussed person does not turn up to the court when required.

That's why the court asks the surety to be a person of good character, usually a top civil servant, must have landed property, etc.

In these recent cases the court Not EFCC had asked for evidence of property in Maitama, where real estate prices are averagely over 300 million naira, and they have asked civil servants not less than level 16 to stand as surety.

Nobody drops 300million or whatever in the government coffers.....

Don't be foolish, bail doesn't mean you pay money, it means you show the court that you means to cover the amount of the bail, which will be forfieted if the accused fails to appear when requested by the court.

In this case the evidence of funds the Court's require is landed property in Maitama

Did she start having children at the age of 90? Even then her oldest child will be a 100 years old

If her grandchild is 90 as claimed, she could easily be only 30 years older than her grandchild, as in those days women/girls had children early...as such she will be 120 years old (which I don't believe)

Religion / Re: Why Do Many Christians Celebrate New Year And NOT Christmas? by ozoro: 7:44pm On Dec 26, 2015
asuustrike2009:

That is what I call hypocrite. They don't know that the so called new year celebration has a pagan origin but they are quick to condemn those celebrating christmas. It's a shame that up till now those against christmas which I agree with haven't provide a good biblical backing why they celebrate new year since it also has pagan origin. The same sect still observe Sundays as days of worship were it was practically stated that it is Satursday. They keep on blaming Catholic for this and that but the questions is why haven't they change their service day to Saturday like Seven Days Adventist observe it? Why should they continue with Sundays?. The best solution to such scenario is that the Christian body should concentrate more on winning souls instead of wasting their energy on who should or shouldn't celebrate christmas as God wouldn't ask you which church did you attend or which celebration you did observe or not instead how did you live your life. Did you live a holy life? You may not observe such feast yet end in the lake of fire while your friend that observed such feast ends in heaven. [b]Up till today, those christians haven't given any biblical backing to why they conduct white wedding.[/bHistorically Instead of thinking of the speck in their eyes, they are busy taking speck from other people's eyes. During such festivity, it is an opportunity to reach out to prisoners, patients in the hospitals, orphans e.t.c because such opportunity might not come.
The bottom line is that all these sects of christians practice some doctrines that are not biblical yet they wail

Historically marriage was secular ceremony, if at all there was even ceremony. The early church (Catholic) being really the only christian denomiration, took over marriage ceremonies and even made marriage a holy scrament!!!

other denominations have followed suite.

Another example how religion has impacted on life.

But back to matter of Christmas, New Year is not a religious ceremony BUT a man made marker of time, which many Nigerians choose to use to measure how sucessful their life has been. Hence the to celebrate in church to seek God's favour
Religion / Why Do Many Christians Celebrate New Year And NOT Christmas? by ozoro: 10:13am On Dec 26, 2015
I find that many (usually pentecostal) christians don't go to church on Christmas night or day, but can never start the new year without midnight vigil.

I believe they have to forgotten the main message of Jesus, but instead concentrate on selected Bible passages that confirm worldly riches and solution to worldly problems are the main reason for Christian worship.

This is why they do not pay importance to the memory of Jesus life on earth, even the fact Jesus was crucified and died for us is hardly recognised BUT they will never miss night vigil that will bring ' abundant blessings;. They rather travel to Lagos and spend 3 days sleeping rough to attend the Biggest Rivival....

perhaps somebody can educate me.

So I heard Dasuki alongside Attahiru Bafarawa, former Sokoto State governor; Bashir Yuguda, former minister of state for finance, Shuaibu Salisu, and Sagir, Bafarawa’s son, were all granted bail in the sum of N250 million each. By my calculation that is about NGN1.5B . In a related development High Chief Raymond Dokpesi was also granted bail for Hundreds of Millions.

Now am wondering what eventually happens to these huge bail money. Hope the masses eventually benefit from it? Anyone has an idea?

For your information, nobody puts down 'bail' money court. It's only police station that corrupt police officers use the term bail to collect bribe and release detainees - who were unlawfully detained in the first place.

Bail in the law court means a promise to pay the court the sum pledged if the suspect absconds and does not return to court.

The person providing bail must prove to the court that he has the money or assets (such as landed property) to the value of the bail amount set by the court.

Most Nigerians are clueless and believe in fairies. No amount of local refineries will help the PMS crisis, we continue to decieve ourselves that we can control market forces.

Is there any shortage of diesel ? Is diesel price not dropping? Is there subsidy in diesel?

Free the market, let anyone import PMS and sell at any price they like.

Forget this fake subsidy that doesn't help anyone not even the marketers.

Stop this discredited dual exchange rate, allow the dollar find it's level.

If the government is not wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on this fake subsidy the naira value will rise and PMS will be available at a realistic price

Allowing the Naira to reflect its market rate will reduce consumer purchasing power for obvious reasons - higher import costs will increase inflation. However, not doing so will achieve the same outcome as a fixed rate requires restiction to forex access with such restrictions increasing import costs. The difference is that a fixed exchange rate not backed up by sufficient reserves has the ironic effect of accelerating currency depreciation because - as earlier stated - it reduces the incentive for bringing in foreign exchange into Nigeria.

Ultimately, the root cause of Naira depreciation is reduced forex coming into the country due to lower oil prices. Anything that further reduces forex coming in, such as restrictions necessitated by a fixed exchange rate, will have the unintended effect of accelarating currency depreciation. Of course, the official rate will stay the same but the greater the divergence between the official and market rates, the more the former becomes irrelevant.
