Thanks Bnimz, been waiting to have your view on this. Just wanted to be sure the feed backs I've been getting from those soft wears are not reflections of my potential scores in PTE speaking. Because if they are.....na on top long thing I dey o!

PTE is more accurate than all these softwares. Their algorithm has taken care of lots of native languages. In addition to E2 language videos, check out the ones by Navjot brar, she's Indian, you will gain one or two things.

Zany
Oh! I see, thanks.

Yeah, I have seen her video....very educative. But she also mentioned that one should use speech to text SWs (she even suggested 2) and ensure up to 90% match.

Information for some of us that are preparing for PTE.

You can also make use of google speech to text to practice pronunciation.

Start voice typing in a document
Check that your microphone works.
Open a document in Google Docs with a Chrome browser.
Click Tools and then Voice typing. A microphone box appears.
When you're ready to speak, click the microphone.
Speak clearly, at a normal volume and pace.
When you're done, click the microphone again.
Thanks OP. Have you tried it yourself? What percentage of your speech did it pick correctly?

I have used a lot of speech to text SW both on my phone and PC. The more I used them, the more demoralized I became (not until Jamson.....a PTE legend here warned me against using them) ....I have junked them all.

I believe they are designed for native speakers only, not for accented people like us.

Try switch your TV to CNN, put the volume reasonably high and activate any speech to text SW's speaker, u will see that it will pick the CNN native speaker's speech 100%. Meanwhile, if you an accented speaker shouts from now till tomorrow, it will only pick a fragment of your speech (for me about 50%).

@OP, i will like you to try it and relate your experience.

I just hope that is not what PTE uses in scoring people.

In addition, when children over 2 years are involved... Please pick a day between Monday and Wednesday because there's a test you will need to come back for the review after 2 days. If you go on Thursday, they will ask you to come back for the test on Monday as they don't operate on weekends.
it thought i read that kids under 2 only need to present their immunization card ni............would they still need to carry out medicals like adults?

Bnimz, where are you ooo? I have little to say to be honest. All I did was to mimic American accent undecided please thrash those speech to text software, because they will only succeed in demoralizing you. Make sure to digest all E2 PTE video lessons on YouTube and abide by their instructions. While it is good to work on your pronounciaton, don't do that at the expense of other important pointers like vocabulary, grammar, content and form as they are very crucial to your 20 points

I am happy to provide further help
mhen! to say those pronunciation apps go demoralize na understatement o, them don almost kill my spirit....imagine me nor fit pronounce "another" again, even after I don watch CNN taya.

Thanks for the hint bro, just finished watching E2 PTE describe image webinar.......it was an eye opener.

@Mamajaz, thanks for the input, like how much be the E2 pronunciation app?
TravelRe: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by OzyMigrant: 8:19pm On Jan 14, 2017
Hi Jamson, Bnimz and other PTE legends in the house......please how were you guys able to improve your pronunciation?

I have been using some apps to convert my speeches to text since that is what PTE does. I'm afraid they've not been picking more than 40-50% of my speeches correctly, is this not a failure already in PTE speaking?

Please I need your advice and guideline.

I doubt you'll get AUD in the parallel market. You'll have to buy USD and load your Domiciliary account.

Current parallel market rate is #492=$1
1Usd=1.35Aud

So 1Aud=#364.444.

1Aud~#365 in the parallel market.
Your calculation is correct but might not be realistic, it's what banks unfairly do to unsuspecting customers. USD is overrated at the moment in Nigeria......#492 is not the real value of Naira (na the scarcity and increased demand cause am), so 1AUD is worth way less than #365 - just that we don't get it out here as guys in Aussie prefer to have their monies in USD before travelling down.

It better one boycotts any initial conversion to USD in any transaction for now - at least not for large volumes.

Op should not give up hope on getting people from Australia who might want to send money down, it's the surest way.....a win win for both
parties, might be risky though.

I waited until I got someone when I was going to submit my EA application.....guess how much I saved, a whopping 150k!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to one blessed person here on this forum.

Bnimz:
Yep.

Visit acro.police.uk .. It's all online and very straightforward
Thanks boss.........a prove of current address is required for the application. Would they include the address in the PCC?

I'm planning to use a bank statement with my old address as my prove of current address. The address is different from what I entered for EA, IELTS and PTE. If they will include the address in the PCC it will cause inconsistency.

Hello House,

I'm wondering if nothing is wrong.

My application portal on EA still says "queued for assessment" same as before I fast tracked.

It was submitted on 22nd Dec. and fast tracked on 28th Dec.

I'm not married, but I don't see the problem.. It is not uncommon up here for White ladies to retain their names after marriage, especially in this society where divorce is about as common as ordinary relationship breakup...

With the above documents, you have no problem.
Thanks so much for the clarification boss. For evidence of marriage, must it be a court document? Will our Traditional wedding document and child's birth certificate bearing both of our names do?
TravelRe: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by OzyMigrant: 9:21pm On Dec 30, 2016
Hello experts in the house...

I got married mid last year and we had a baby some weeks back. My wife does not want to change her surname.......I just fast tracked my EA assessment and in the process of gathering relevant documents for 189 EOI/ITA/Visa application.

I'm wondering if this could affect the visa processing in any way.

Documents at hand;

Marriage cert; Wife's name remained as before marriage

Child's birth cert (Mother's name remained as before marriage)

Wife's passport; Wife's name remained as before marriage

Child's passport; Bears father's (me) surname

Marriage was also conducted in the Islamic way, not court involved...........could such certificate be valid for immigration purposes? if not, please advice on way forward.

Oga Bnimz (as Bellong don ditch the title.... wink) na your party I dey na. Whether suspend or rusticate, I told the gentleman to still pick it up as soon as he can as waiting for a normal assessment turnaround time is 'suicidal'.

I' m sure you'd agree with me that there is even more to it than the money or response time. What if some unfavourable immigration policy review springs up from the blues and his processing is caught up in the middle of it
Thanks Bnimz, Jamson and Bellong.........i will look into the fast-track option then.

Ordinarily, a letter of proficiency would suffice. But a case was brought up on this same thread where the CO rejected the letter and instead asked for an English test result.

So I guess it is a matter of who is reviewing who and as for me ooo, I have taken my wife to write PTE to avoid stories that touch the heart with unnecessary delay.
Please I want to know how the letter of proficiency thing works.......

I might need it for my wife soon. She wrote IELTS in April 2014 when she was going to join me in the UK for her Masters but didn't later work out. We were still dating then and I was doing my Masters too. The least she had was W7 others were 8 and 8.5.

I'm afraid the IELTS's 3-years validity would have expired before we obtain ITA as I only submitted my EA application (not fast tracked) last week.

Just trying to see if I can cut the cost of her writing another English test.

As long as you can proof you are responsible for him, you can add him as a dependent
Oga Bellong,

Please what documents are required to prove one is responsible for the kid? I have a five year old Nephew I plan to add. The parents have agreed to let me include him.

If you meant summarize spoken text...It carries marks ooh..both in writing and listening.
its important, but easy to nail with a strategy.
Thanks Boss, I wouldn't mind if you help spell out those strategies here o! I believe am not the only one in need of it.

I fear all those spoken lectures pass Boko-haram. I nor dey gree understand them.

Abeg i even wan ask sef....in the real exam, can one go back to an unanswered question, is there a "back" botton?

To add to the tones of info on the materials you will download up there.. I took my test twice recently. First
Scored L/S/R/W 83/72/87/90..Expecting the result of the second.
In reading and listening..time is of the essence..Try to develop an instinctive approach o the questions. Don't try to waste any time dwelling on a question. Just quickly analyze options and select one and move on. Chances are that you might not still get it right even if you spend much time. this is very very important in the listening section because the high scoring questions - write from dictation- are the last questions. So if you waste time on multiple choice which is just 1/2 marks and miss the write from dictation, your scores will be low.
This is an eye opener, thanks for the tip. All the while, i was thinking the "lecture summary" part attracts the highest score weight. Please can you point me to where I can get full information regarding the score weight for each question type in the listening session?

@bellong, please give OzyMigrant the benefit of the doubt.

To paraphrase a Yoruba proverb: If you close your eyes so that you won't see unworthy people pass, you may not notice when good people take the same route.

Some of us here too may also need your able assistance in this area in the near future.

Appreciative people are still plenty out there. Please reconsider Oga bellong.
Thanks bro....he gracefully did already. It pays to be an optimist!
