No matter how good you are at writing and how much you have researched, if people don't get to read your work, you won't earn nada. One thing we advise newbies (I was given this advise too). Set a target to comment at least 50 times every day. I'm not talking about the "Nice post" kind of comment but one that shows you really read the work. What works for me and I know will work for you is this; immediately you drop your post, go on a marathon commenting on other people's posts.... It will prompt them to come check yours too. |
What I've noticed that many new Steemians lack is communication. Early this month, I met with @gbenga, Nigeria's topmost curator and he kept emphasising on that. Four things that will help you on steemit as he mentioned are CONSISTENCY COMMENTING COMMUNICATION BE ORGANIZED... |
afolwalex20:Check that there are no spaces.. It should work |
tosyne2much:So you think I'm a programmer or I'm into coding. It just takes a bit of studying and practice. |
doyinisaac:No. Just check one of those links I posted and see. |
afolwalex20:You know Nairaland hates people pasting links.... Just copy the full link and paste in another tab on your browser |
I could forget about Utopian though and talk about steemstem if people think utopian is difficult |
doyinisaac:One doesn't necessarily have to be tech savvy to make utopian contributions. Lets take Nairaland for instance. I don't like that at night viewing the page hurts my eyes, I could make a recommmendation for night feature like this NAIRALAND: ADD ABILITY TO TOGGLE NIGHT FEATURE Its the other categories like translation and development that are more complicated. |
So you can see that the program is flexible. It accommodates everyone both programmers and non programmers. I will explain that more below... Let me now explain three categories (suggestion, bug hunting, and visibility) under which contributions can be made... You can read up others by visiting utopian.io Suggestion: here, you just make a suggestion. Maybe you want sbd/Steem price indicator button on the front page of your blog. Just write something comprehensive about it and use an arrow to show where you want this to be. Most of my contributions have been made under suggestion category. A good way to get a better understanding of what I mean here is to visit these my links: https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@penauthor/suggestions-for-steemrocks https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@penauthor/suggestions-for-steemlyt https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@penauthor/suggestions-for-projectsend These three should give you a good idea on how to make contribution These are just a few... Just be creative. You can come up with anything. It must not be only steemit that you must contribute to. There are other open source projects, just search them out, study them. You can compare them with sister projects and make your suggestion. |
ABOUT THE UTOPIAN TUTORIAL I TALKED ABOUT, LEMME BEGIN In this tutorial, I am going to adopt some tips from @elear's post and I will drop the link to the post at the end so that you can read further and start contributing in earnest. According to @elear who happens to be the founder of utopia project, Utopian.io is the only platform that will reward you for making Open Source contributions with Steem Power and shared SBD. While everyone is trying to make utopian-io based posts is because Utopian.io will reward you for creating contributions with the votes of the community members plus the vote of the Utopian Bot that is powered by about 4 million Steem Power! So wake up and make the best of this opportunity... Now... I know newbies would have questions regarding what open source projects, open source contributions and shared SBD really are? Please read in between lines...study whatever lines I drop...very important. Don't wait until u get everything before trying to contribute. Practice makes perfect. Okay? On the first one being open source projects: In general, open source refers to any program whose source code is made available for use or modification as users or other developers see fit. Open source software is usually developed as a public collaboration and made freely available. For example...Steemit is Open Source, that means its codebase is public, accessible by everyone, editable by everyone. Another examples of open source projects include utopian.io, busy.org, Google Chrome Browser, WordPress, etc. They are many. You can search online. On the second question: open source contributions. These are ideas you make to open source projects in order to enhance user experience or positive growth of the concerned project. These contributions can take different forms such as: - suggestions, - sub-project, - visibility, etc. I will include a screenshot of the different categories so you can see

Doyinisaac, I really commend your efforts on this thread. You've eased the stress many newbies would have gone through had they no guidiance. |
tosyne2much:Investing is surely the best way but there are other ways to make money for people on steemit when you don't have money to invest |
There are about three good ways I know to make money right now on Steemit. Who wants to hear me out? |
To grow more on the platform, visit the blog of whales, those top guys. See what they do and try to structure your posts like theirs. you don't have to be a copycat but what you need is a basic understanding of what works and what doesn't |
U4ure:I HAVE MADE A VERY COMPREHENSIVE POST THAT WILL GUIDE YOU ON MAKING YOUR INTRODUCTORY POST https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@penauthor/a-good-introduction-post-the-best-way-to-begin-your-steemit-journey Also since you're Nigerian, you may want to use these tags as well introducemyself newbie nigeria africa |

It's @penauthor in the building. I'm always available for tutorials and explanations on what works and what doesn't. I didn't even know there was a thread created for Steemians. I would love to meet as many of you as possible. I gat tough love for steemit. Steemit can make you the millionaire you've hoped to be. I can tell you that because I've met people who have achieved such feat already. |

Soft music filtered through the background. It was soothing. Soulish even. Every pitch and note blending into a frictionless perfection. It filled his eyes, his nose, just about everything. This was music as nature had designed, the pure unadulterated music. It didn't just come from him but from everyone else. A network of sound guiding their movements and decisions. Dathan opened his eyes. He was standing in mid-air, like everyone else. A young lady dressed in a flowing gown, iridescent enough to make one gape in wonder, approached him and stopped just above his head. A smile caressed her face as she poured the content of a test tube on him. As soon as the first drop touched his head, a warmth like he had never felt exploded in him and he began to feel transparent. He had a feel that he wasn't the only one that had noticed the sudden change. His thoughts and dids no longer had a hiding place. His heart began beating in an irregular pattern. He hoped to the gods that the lady, whoever she was wasn't aware of what was happening. He looked up at her and she nodded slowly not losing her smile. She then began whistling a tune, different entirely from the harmony he had heard at first. As if by programme, he began to drift to the right, uncontrollably. It was useless trying to turn away. Nothing of his worked with his will any longer. Everything flowed to the rhythm of the whistling. As he drifted, he caught sight of people, different ages and sizes, drifting too in different directions. Babies, aged, skinny, obese, all were present. What was this place? He was channeled into entrance of a dark room. He slowly drifted in. All was still here. The silence, maddening. He could hear his heart tick and his blood trickle into vessels and capillaries. A long time passed during which everything he'd ever done began to flow into his memory as fast as a waterfall. He felt his heart squeeze at every recall of an evil action he'd done. Soon, the pain began to creep into every joints of his body bringing with them a burning sensation. The pain was unearthly. He felt his bones melt slowly. He wondered how he was still breathing when every ounce of pain felt like the last straw before his life force would fade. He tried to scream but found no outlet for his voice. There was no mouth, not anymore. Only flesh remained. And even that too began to fall apart. Soon, all that remained was a pile of flesh. All consciousness ebbed out from his like the last bit of thread in a candle, the wax having burned out. Then it finished. He didn't know how long it took. The only thing he recalled was the blast of a high pitched whistle. It stirred him up. Darkness was everywhere and everywhere was darkness. Still, he felt a presence. A fresh whistling began, lilting as it blared. It came at him. His essences began to creep in from wherever they might have been. But this was different. It was as though they had been renewed somewhat. He felt an ethereal sense of pleasure, ease and satisfaction as his essence filled his fleshy form on the floor. As the last bit of his essence flowed in, every bit of flesh began to align. In a minute, his frame was set. Bones started solidifying. In minutes, his form had materialized. For what seemed like the first time, he opened his eyes. Standing before him was Theodore Alphonux, the first Thorank king. It wasn't as if he'd seen him in all of his lively form before but a certain awareness kept bubbling up in him. It was an epiphany. Theodore was as handsome as he'd been described in books. His eyes sparkled, the color of lapis lazuli. He had a smile plastered across his face. Every expression of his was the true definition of genuine. There was no pretense with him. He wasn't angry at him in any way. He wasn't angry he had desecrated the Thorank order, wasn't angry he had altered the line of kings, wasn't angry he had sparkled the first real transmottening. All of that was forgotten and for once in his existence he felt no shame. Theodore opened his mouth and let out a breath. Dathan found his mouth responding, opening to let in the breath. That was the last he remembered. The visions hit him, exploding in his subconscious. It began with the decision to place the sons of Thorank roundabout the edges of the realm till the inevitable death of one he'd come to love. ******* A/N: This was very quickly typed as I wanted to avoid keeping y'all waiting. I will come back to edit, putting italics and all in places. Enjoy your read! MADE OF MORE |
I'm sorry I wasn't able to bring an update today. You know, I woke up with a low battery and as we pay to charge phones here {no power supply}, I had to wait till this night to get my phone. Another update is ready howbeit untyped. I had resorted to hand writing I'll try to type it this night or tomorrow morning. I think the later's more sure as I'm almost dozing... MADE OF MORE |
