Culture / Re: 10 Extinct Nigerian Languages And What You Think Can Be Done To Save The Rest by Pacesetter2: 10:45pm On Sep 23, 2014
The first thing is to make our native language the medium of communication in schools. Just like the passing of English is being made compulsory for admission and employment, so also must the students pass a native language before any further steps can be attained. With this, it makes the students more focused on the langauge.

BekeeBuAgbara: See profile ooh shocked shocked shocked shocked. Why Janjaweedians are avoiding this thread, are they intimidated after reading Omisore profile or disappointed that the man has accepted an open debate with Ogbeni Aregbe? grin

they are trying to frame up a 'better' CV for his counterpart.

Awww...saw this late.

Now in area...no standard saloon and you have to trek metres if not kilometres to barb. That barbing would have made sense but getting someone is the wahala.

I cant just manage it myself. I go to school early. Come back late.

On capital issue....once my fears are cleared,i'll get them

Any idea on how to go about it.

wear it everyday. In fact during our time, we wore uniform just to sign our documents. To prevent being challenged kindly do the needful. You might be sent out or disgraced.

My advice to other law student, if you know that you are going to branch at the faculty, wear your uniform but if you believe that you cant near the LTs ,faculty library, moot court and the faculty building then wear anything you.

Hairstyle must be low cut though not specified but dress corporate always.

I'm not against the anti-censoring but all i'm just trying to put across is that with the anti-censor package on nairaland, then that disclaimer is wrong

@mikael78 you've shown us that it is you that is in school right? Thanks
Nairaland / General / Seun Is Wrong by Pacesetter2: 10:53pm On Jan 01, 2014
Just of recent, the CEO of Nairaland added a a disclaimer at the end of every thread. I'll like to bring to his notice that he is wrong because there is an/are anti-censor(s) which change what we intend writing. E.g
the boy molestation the girl when the real poster intend writing the boy r.ape the girl.

I also like to bring to his notice that some of these words are gramatically wrong.

So my point is as long as this continues, then that disclaimer is a lie.
Politics / The Nuisance Tagged Ondo State Task Force by Pacesetter2: 10:24pm On Dec 23, 2013
The nuisance tagged Ondo State Task Force.
On the 23rd of December 2013, i was opportuned to shift my hustling point to Akure central market but was suprised at what i saw at the force's boot between Olukayode plaza and Total Petrol Station. A thief suspect was being beaten nearly to a point of collapse. I wished I could snap them but my battery was dead. In 1999 constitution, it is only the court that has been given power to prove an innocent guilty but with what i saw on that day, I was astonished on why they have taken laws into their hand by beating someone to such an extent. This was the example of what happened in October last year when a town,Aluu in Rivers State beat suspected men and burnt them to death.
This issue of jungle justice is getting out of hand most especially the uniformed men whose primary duty is to safeguard and execute laws and not judgement but due to their impunity because they are force men has taken it another level. I will hereby call on the Government of Ondo State & the Director of the Ondo State Task Force to address this issue properly and punish the officers invovled so as to prevent future recurrence. Anybody caught in any offences should be charged to court so that the accused can have his lawyer and defend his case in a peaceful and calm atmosphere and not under the duress as being done in the force's boot.

lekzyn: MOB is just destroying his political existence in Ekiti state and Nigeria as a whole. A real Ekiti man will never vote MOB, go and check you will only see youths that has no future following MOB, quote me anywhere because I leave in Ikole-Ekiti and I no what is going on but most of MOB supporters are after his money and MOB knows how to splash money on politics. Those following him are just after his money, well JKF as really make me proud of Ekiti state in terms of infrastructure, Ikogosi, Ire burnt bricks, good and accessible roads, education, health etc though no one is perfect and humans are insatiable.

when you 'leave' in Ikole you dont have any clue about Ekiti politics. So no need to enlighten you.

Politics / She Expressed The Same Sentiments-chief Osoba by Pacesetter2: 2:31pm On Dec 18, 2013
Former Governor Segun Osoba of Ogun State who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that he met Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, during his trip to the United States in September 2013. Recounting his chance meeting with Ms. Obasanjo to SaharaReporters, Chief Osoba said he was in the United States for the 73rd anniversary of the Nieman Foundation Fellowship when he ran into Iyabo, a former senator in Nigeria. The former governor told SaharaReporters he was staying at The Charles Hotel in Cambridge when he had a chance encounter with the daughter of the former president who told him her car was parked in the hotel’s basement parking lot.
Chief Osoba said that, after the meeting, Ms. Obasanjo went downstairs to get her car and then drove him to the offices of the Nieman Foundation Center where he had an event. He said commute took close to an hour, leaving plenty of time for a long conversation between him and former President Obasanjo’s daughter.
Speaking further, Chief Osoba disclosed that Iyabo expressed exactly the same sentiments about her father contained in her letter that was just published by SaharaReporters. According to the former governor, Ms. Obasanjo stated that her father would divide the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) more than it was then after his so-called intervention in the party. He said Ms. Obasanjo also stated that she had no plans to return anymore to Nigerian politics, a sentiment she expressed in the acerbic letter to her father.
Chief Osoba added that, after his return from the US, he met former President Obasanjo a month later at the 80th birthday party of Chief Adedoja Adewolu and told him of his encounter with Iyabo in Massachusetts, including her view of his intervention in the PDP. Former Governor Osoba said he strongly believed that his discussion with Mr. Obasanjo might have prompted the former President to tell his daughter to run on the platform of the APC, another revelation made in her letter.
Former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo wrote an 11-page letter to her father which she sent to Lagos-basedVanguardnewspaper. In the letter, she described her father as a liar, manipulator and a hypocrite. She also characterized her father as a wife-beater and abominable father.

When you are talking of being legally married how? Is it that those other 3 wives cohabited with him and never married them even traditionally? Is the legal wife married in court?

I think in a situation like this, there are laws that govern distribution of properties incase there is no will. Just approach a lawyer for advice and guidiance.

Pls i'm not a student but an aspiring one to this great institution. I want to apply for law but i'm having two SSCE. Here is the highlight of one-CRK-B3, Economics-C5,Government-B3,Lit-B3,English-C5,french-B3 but Maths is D7 with biology and yoruba. The second one is CRK-B3,Eng-B3,economics-F9,lit,gov,maths,yor are all C6 while agric is C4,Biology is C5.
Now my question/fear is sonce i heard that UI uses SSCE certicates, can i use my ssce i.e the first one even with D7. Can i combine the two together or how? I dont want to make a silly mistake in filling the JAMB form. Thanks

ACCOMMODATION: pls I want a reasonable, spacious self contain not more than 80 thousand, with good water supply and security not in a hidden location but a place where I can always get a direct bus to uni most especially when I have 7am lectures.
I hear town town which area is called town?how far is it4rm uni? I was advised to avoid hostels around d uni becos of the cult members and its very dry on weekends. And if I have missed out some things pls any1 wf reasonable information to please SHARE.

welcome to faculty of law. Concerning the uniform, make sure it is white not milky. I'm happy you're aware of the dressing...no trousers for ladies...no splitting of skirts to b.uttocks..infact if your skirts is too tight and some lecturers who esteem moral sees you...na one chance. Concerning hostel...it depends on what you want...town means the ado centre and that is 140 per day for go-come..concerning cultists, we no longer have them as they've used to be. Everywhere is peaceful but if you're the exact type that like a lively environment,i'll advice satelite. Peaceful and quiet place for reading goes to oppossite the school gate. If you dont want light and a far place from school, go for satelite phase 2 but you like cheap hostels but taking bike per day to school then live at iworoko town. School gates is also cheap beacause the best hostel goes for 65k but in the lively satelite phase1..around 120k per year

Education / Iyayi Killed By Wada's Convoy by Pacesetter2: 9:07pm On Nov 12, 2013
SaharaReporters has further confirmed that Festus Iyayi, a well-known Nigerian novelist and activist academic, was killed when a car in the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, rammed into his vehicle near Lokoja in Kogi State.
A police source as well as an eyewitness told SaharaReporters that Mr. Iyayi died instantly at the scene of the ghastly accident. Mr. Iyayi was on his way to Kano to attend a meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) whose members have been on strike since July. The union’s meeting in Kano was called to decide on a possible calling off of the strike and a return to teaching.
With today’s accident, Governor Idris has further consolidated his reputation as having one of the most reckless convoys in Nigeria where drivers attached to governors and other top officials are known for driving dangerously. In late December 2012, Governor Idris’s convoy was also involved in a deadly accident that claimed the life of his aide de camp. Mr. Idris was hospitalized at the National Hospital, Abuja where he was treated for serious injuries.
In a brief telephone conversation today, Kogi’s Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, confirmed that the governor’s convoy was involved in an accident earlier today. But Mr. Awoniyi said he had not obtained the details of how the accident happened, telling our correspondent that he was away in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, on official duty.
In the early and mid-1980s, Mr. Iyayi broke out of the confines of his academic discipline and emerged as one of Nigeria’s most radical writers with such novels asHeroes, Violence, andThe Contract.
Mr. Iyayi studied economics and business management in the old Soviet Union as well as in the UK, and became a career-long professor of business at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
A fearless, outspoken member of ASUU, he was at one time a leader of the union’s chapter at UNIBEN before becoming the group’s national leader in 1986 during the dictatorship of General Ibrahim Babangida. In the early 90s he was elected as the President of the Committee for the Defence of Human rights (CDHR).
His death will be seen as the biggest individual casualty of ASUU’s prolonged strike as well as the history of accidents caused by the deranged driving by convoys traveling with Nigerian state governors.
ASUU President Nasir Fagge confirmed his death to SaharaReporters. He said the sad news was broken to the union a few hours ago.
A lawyer in Abuja told SaharaReporters that he hoped Mr. Iyayi’s family would sue Governor Idris for failing to restrain the recklessness of drivers attached to his convoy. “This madness by the convoys of governors will not stop until citizens affected by it start rising to say a big no,” the lawyer said.
