oppemipo: *The Landing Gist*
Nice to be here! From the beginning of the journey till I landed in Saskatchewan, Ca. To God be the Glory.
The journey from Nigeria to Cairo was a smooth one, the only itch I have was the internet connection at the Cairo Airport. I got to know that you have access to free 30mins of internet access, all you need to do is to log in with your MTN number but must start with 0023480xxxxxxx, you will then receive a code on the said number. Most time, it may take forever to receive the code.
Try and get a smaller denomination of dollars if you wish to buy anything in Cairo Airport, no change at all.
From Cairo to Toronto The journey of 11hr45mins started at about 3 am Cairo time, it was a long journey for me and my family being first-time travelers! They served us well, I requested more food anyway. It was a nice experience indeed.
We landed at the Toronto airport, and boarded a flight to Saskatoon, another 3hrs50mins, my buttocks pain ooo. I tried to change $200 USD to CAD in Toronto, the woman scammed me oo. She gave me 212.75 CAD for the 200 USD I gave her. Instead of 249 CAD. Thank God I didn't change all my money through her.
I got my Study permit and my wife got her OWP, my baby got her visitor permit. The immigration officer only asked me for my enrollment letter. We landed in Saskatoon, lovely environment cool and calm. On arrival at the Saskatoon airport, my supervisor was already waiting to receive us! It was a memorable moment, which can never be erased.
On Monday!
We went for our SIN numbers enrollment and Bank account opening at Royal Bank of Canada, I deposits all the USD I bought from Nigeria, I got a good conversion rate, 1 USD =1.285CAD. We enrolled for our health card.
Tuesday Went to my faculty, they have already arranged my office with all the necessary gadgets, wow! I felt elated. I got to my research laboratory, I was speechless, everything is at it's best.
Wednesday Went for shopping and get some foodstuffs and others! What a nice experience. Above all, we enjoyed every part of the journey to the land of Canada.
Documents I used during the journey
1. International passport 2. Letter of introduction (they don't ask me anyway) 3. Covid-19 vaccine card was only asked in Nigeria Airport 4. Arrival Can was asked at the Toronto airport
I pray for everyone waiting for this testimony that your testimony will never elude you. You will surely testify.
If you are in Saskatoon or coming to the University of Saskatchewan, let's connect abeg.
To God be the glory. Congratulations! please how much is your flight ticket from Nigeria? |

trinityconcept: Hello everyone please I have a challenge
I graduated with a 2:2 here in Nigeria 3.05/5.0, candian universities use 4.0 so when I convert mine to a 4.0 scale I get like 2.44. Almost all schools I've tried applying to in Canada have a general admission requirements of lowest 2.7 to 3.0.
Even though I now have a rich work experience I don't know if I should ignore their cut off and just apply
What's your Advice please Do you think I stand a chance I would advice you to go for post graduate program |

oloyede1: Hi friends,
I had two admissions to Georgian and Conestoga. I went for the Georgian college.
Just today one of their agents emailed me that my admission intake is full before they received my deposit.
That is postponed from January 2023 to May 2023. I've already applied for the visa, and paid for biometrics, booked medicals.
Kindly advise me on what to do, please.
Thank you. |

I got to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by past 11am for my flight to Toronto with Egyptair by 3pm, please weigh your bags or just prepare your mind to pay for extra bags the airline is not joking oh it must not be 24kg, it can be 23.5 or something but not just 24kg I had to be 66k for extra luggage, one of the airline agents there was behaving quite rudely and I was already tensed so I was just nastily glaring at him then he started to joke that I am his Benin sister I shouldn’t be angry blah blah that they have a lot of work, I just told him to take it easy. We got to Egypt by past 8pm our flight to Toronto that was suppose to leave by 1:55am was pushed to 4:40am I couldn’t sleep, make flight no go leave me LOL… sha just walked around the airport, used Wi-Fi and my brother from home through the phone basically kept me company. Then it was time to board, my people the flight to Toronto is long, I mean it is looonnggg plus the cold inside the plane, ah I still have catarrh and cough because of it…at one point ehn I was like is the pilot not even tired ? Because me that was sleeping and waking I was exhausted, the food was just there with sap much bread plus orange juice.. I really liked their orange juice . We got to Toronto by past 10am so this is where my anxiety started dancing within me, I am naturally an anxious person so this didn’t help me at all. Got to the declaration machine, I had already declared on the arrive can so I just placed my passport and printed my declaration form out then it was time for Immigration. So my visa is expiring in august because I was deferred and the new LOA didn’t come out on time so I couldn’t upload so I was really jittery about this, the queue was quite long so when it got to my turn the officer asked why I didn’t upload the new LOA and I said it didn’t come out on time so he just gave additional time and told me to extend it to cover my entire school duration. My aunty came to pick me and they still haven’t taken the light A part of me still can’t believe I am here, but I am seeing a lot of white people and everywhere is really quite so I know I am not in Nigeria too I am extremely thankful to my family and this platform. Congratulations. Pls you mentioned that you deferred your admission. How long can you defer admission. And then can you defer admission in Nigeria and still come to Canada before you start class.?? |

Jaykeyzeeee: I graduated from the department of Computer Science with a 2:2 Same related field of study But applying for a diploma doesn’t show progression, but rather a PGD does, but most of the courses relating to my field for PGD are usually a one year course or not even open for application for fall 2023 So I thought of applying for a Diploma programm in Network Administration which is a 2yr programm. Do you think this is a good decision and won’t be a red flag to the VO when I’m looking to apply for Visa |

ShowYoung: In this kind of situation, I will advise you seek for education loan. While NGN 1,500,000 (C$4,600) could pay for tuition deposit (C$500 - C$2,650) in some colleges and universities, you should ensure that you have the remaining fund readily available.
You are entitled to work 20 hours per week and full time during academic breaks and holidays as an international student while in Canada.
I think you should work on getting to Canada first. There are people who don't have the money just like you but found their ways through it either by finding a sponsor or education loan or combination. Thanks boss. I'm waiting for admission decision at Georgian college in Ontario, and applied for post graduate studies in computer science related courses (information systems security). Their tuition fee is $11000, $5500 per semester. So their tuition deposit fee $2500. I plan to pay deposit fee and once I get there I'll defer admission so that I can work to get money to pay tuition fee and start school. Pls is it possible |
