I hv been waiting for a thread like dis where pharmacists can interact and share their ideas and experiences on the profession, be it industrial practice, community, hospital, academic or administrative pharmacy the profession is really interesting and worthwhile. Having been in industrial practice for the last 2yrs, I must confess the dearth of pharmacists in this sector as we are facing stiff competitions from biochemists, microbiologists, chemists etc but nevertheless, the exposure and technical know-how of the pharmacist still ranks superior. Please share ur experiences on other areas of the profession @Tmoni, tell your wife to look at PCN (Pharmacists' Council of Nigeria) website, the conditions should be there. One luv |
As a pharmacist and a clinical research associate in the house, let me briefly throw more light in simple language on this issue of adverse drug reaction (ADR). Any drug (no matter how trivial it's pharmacological property ie Vitamin C- ascorbic acid ) has a tendency to cause ADR and varies as regards to onset and degree of the ADR largely to age, sex, race, social habit and genetic make-up of the individual taking the drug and on dose and chemical composition (active ingredient and excipients) of the medicament itself. @ Poster; Fansidar is a conventional antimalarial drug containing the API's Sulphadoxine and Pyrimethamine; u must be sensitive to suphur containing drugs, hence let ur pharmacist/doctor know the next time u are down with malaria (hope not soon) @benheart, ur symptoms are rather strange with alabukun which contains acetylsalicylic acid same API as aspirin tab- urs should be an idiosyncratic caseand i advise u report to the pharmacovigilance unit of NAFDAC. The drug could be possibly expired and relabelled or could contain something else but labelled Alabukun. Lastly, combining your medication with alcohol/smokin and again certain foods can trigger the incidence of ADR (ie ingesting a catecholamine with cheese). Always inform your pharmacist of the kind of food u eat and ur lifestyle and any family history of ADR (like itching with quinine-like drugs). One luv Nairalanders |

Dr Kitaun, if u say martins was lucky to go ahead of better players, do u think that luck has departed him? when God bless a man, no one can course him. i want to believe u are not a disable person or are u? if u are not, why are u not playing for nigeria? if u are not a disable person, what are u doing for nigeria or have u resorted to gossips? are u a talented gossip. do u know what? some are born to create history while some are born to read history so where do u belong? do u know there are fifa rules and regulations guiding the act of inviting players to national assignment and on this players must honour their national teams ahead of their clubs unless with the permission of the coach. if nigeria invites any of her players in a normal way and that one refused coming, the coach and nff have the right to take that player to fifa for sanction. french coach once invited makalele when he was in chelsea and when he said he was not coming, he threatened to take him to fifa and he was forced to go. ignorance and criminality has been the case in the nigerian nff and coaching crew so the players have to do their things. most of these players will tell u that they were not officially invited because they are playing with clubs, the invitation must pass through the clubs. if our population is 150 million today, we have at least 149 million coaches very very uninformed like u and that vikiviko. if martins finish today, will u be better than him? everybody is singing ik uche today, tomorrow crucify him will be the case. yakubu no good, yobo no good, taiwo no good, martins no good, mikel no good, na ur mama dey good? THUMBS UP DUDE - NICE COMMENT; NO MIND DEM NA BAD BELLE DEY WORRY DEM: MANY OF THEM NO GO EARN REACH £50K 4 THEIR LIVES |

Nigerian leaders r all criminals; they hv removed subsidies on petroleum products becos of the dwindling oil prices in the international market which has yielded less money 4 dem 2 share. dis so called money 2 be accrued 4rm subsidies will be embezzled as usual. it is high time we start thinkin of diversifying other areas of the economy away 4rm oil. d only solution 2 the nigerian problem is mutiny. there's subsidy everywhere in d world (in d UK- health, US-agriculture), why 9ja go different ![]() |
