They should have made better arrangement for the burial and restrict the number of persons. A lot of persons that showed up have no business being there in the first place.

Car Talk / Re: A Nairalander's Experience With Automedics Abuja by PaKen: 7:36pm On Nov 20, 2014
I have a guy that deals on honda parts here in Abuja. That is the market price for the spark plugs.
Do you mean injector nozzle are not serviced
The CEL light is back but not blinking. It's steady. I was there all through, the mechanic did not disconnect the car battery terminals.
What do you mean by horrendous mpg ??
Find below the scan result;
Code 1520 (o2 sensor), 1510 (o2 sensor), 2301 (knock sensor), 7101 (misfire 1 cylinder 1), 7201 (misfire 2 cylinder 2), 7301 (misfire 3 cylinder 3), 7401 (misfire 4 cylinder 4), 7501 (misfire 5 cylinder 5), 7601 (misfire 6 cylinder 6), 7704 (random misfire)
1301 (left front wheel speed sensor open or short), 7101 (wrong size of tire), 8301 (ecm/pcm relation failure), 8401 (sensor logic failure)
chillex8:

Now cost of diagnosis @ 5k is a fair price for those who don't want to own a personal scanner
You should avail us with a print-out of the scan result.
Your o2 sensors are still bad
The plugs your mechanic put there are sold @ 200 per piece in the Mkt..(oem plugs go for #1,800 and above)
Servicing injectors I laugh. For what Wasted 5k.
Your cel light is going to come back on..
Your mechanic most likely disconnected your ba3 terminals, that's why its off.
After a drive cycle, it will come back on.
Anticipate horrendous mpg.
The cause of your blinking cel was a multiple cylinder misfire and changing spark plugs should do.
Now you know better
Car Talk / A Nairalander's Experience With Automedics Abuja by PaKen: 3:59pm On Nov 20, 2014
Car : Honda Accord 2002 Model v6 (EOD)
Fault: ''Check Engine Light'' blinking at regular intervals and engine jerks when idle (ie not accelerating)
Cost of Diagnosis Only: 15k but I managed to beat it down to 5k which I paid immediately.

After diagnosis, please find attached the bill that was handed over to me;

1. Oxygen Sensor 2 sides - 50k
2. Wheel Speed Sensor 2 sides - 50k
3. Knock Sensor - 25k
4. Spark Plugs 6 @ 3000 - 18k
5. Fuel Filter - 7k
6. Injector Nozzle Servicing - 10k
7. Labour - 30k

Total bill = 190k

After analysing the bill, he told me to pay 40% upfront before they can commence work on my car. This got me annoyed as I was already planning to leave to meet my mechanic. I told him ''Oga, I dey come make I reach my bank''

I drove out of their garage and drove straight to my mechanic in Gudu District, Abuja.

I told him to change my plugs, fuel filter and service my injector nozzles.

6 plugs were bought @ 1000 = 6k
Injector Nozzles were serviced = 5k
Labour = 3k

Total spent = 14k + 5k diagnosis of automedics = 19k

Difference = 190k - 19k = 171k

After which the ''Check Engine Light'' disappeared, no jerks at engine idle and the EOD is moving fine.

Lesson: You can save a lot of money by just paying for thorough diagnosis and taking your car to conventiional mechanics and instructing them on what to do.

I hope this will help numerous car owners with tight budgets.

Career / Re: Pharmacists, Pharmacy Students And Interns. At Home Or Abroad, Let's Meet Here. by PaKen: 11:54am On Nov 15, 2013
It is time to come into this conversation. I represent the great University of Benin - Pharmacy. I must confess that if I have a second opportunity to go back to school, I'll always embrace Pharmacy. Pharmacy as a discipline gives you a whole lot of opportunities unlike some fields of academic endeavors. In the last 8 years, I have worked as an industrial pharmacist and am currently into pharmaceutical regulation. For any pharmacist or pharmacy student that is interested in building a career in regulation, feel free to hit on me anytime for guidance. In my short year of practice, I have come to discover that many pharmacy graduates have career accidents ie they have no clue what they want to make of their pharmacy degree ie BPharm or Pharm.D as they case may be ? In school, I was very good with Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacy Law, so I opted for Industrial Pharmacy although without much pay and now I'm fully a Pharmaceutical Regulator.
I recently met a colleague with Pharm.D and he told me he is a Medical Representative for a generic pharmaceutical company? I asked again why spend 6 years to bag a Pharm.D and end up in a corporate hawking drugs business? A Pharm.D holder should be involved in stuffs like Clinical trials, Pharmaceutical Care, Drug Therapy Problems, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacogenomics etc....

And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want
you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a

Education / Re: B.sc In Biochemistry & Masters In Pharmacy Can They Go Together? by PaKen: 11:42pm On Nov 21, 2010
Raylight_1:

I really want to go into drug production itself. I hope it's 100% possible because someone said I can only do pharmaceutical chemistry in pharmacy as a biochemist. If this is true, what is the duty of a pharmaceutical chemist in a pharmaceutical industry.
Pharmaceutical Chemists work in the research and development area of business of the pharmaceutical industry. They are actively involved in the discovery, design, development of active pharmaceutical ingredients into finished medicinal products. They are highly skilled professionals who apply both theoretical and practical knowledge in drug discovery and development. Approx 55% of pharmaceutical chemists working in the pharmaceutical industry are PhD holders. Their major objective is to ensure that medicinal products are not released for sale or used by the patient until they have been ascertained to meet their required standards of QUALITY, EFFICACY & SAFETY. In the Pharmaceutical industry, you hear of such groups as Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics, Early Development Group, Drug Discovery Group, Formulation & Analytical team. All these groups are composed of highly motivated pharmaceutical chemists who work tirelessly to support the development of medicinal products.
