European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Swansea Vs Chelsea (0 - 5) On 17th January 2015 by pamcode(op): 5:15pm On Jan 11, 2015
Garry Monk believes Swansea City can continue to be a potent attacking threat following the departure of Wilfried Bony and has set his sights on a Barclays Premier League scalp against leaders Chelsea.

Ivory Coast international Bony completed a transfer to Manchester City on Wednesday, having scored 34 goals in 70 appearances in all competitions for Swansea.

But Monk insists he is not in a hurry to spend the Bony proceeds on a replacement striker, with Bafetimbi Gomis hungry for a first-team run and Nelson Oliveira having arrived on loan from Benfica.

"I'm not looking for a striker," he said. "Bafe has the shirt and it's his to lose. I have no reservations he will produce for us. We brought in Gomis and Nelson Oliveira, but Bafe is my No 1 striker and, going forward, we're looking for both of them to contribute.

"They understand how we work and they are up to speed and hopefully they get a chance to produce. I'm sure they'll do very well.

"Bafe is a different player, a different striker, but a top quality one in his own right. He's proven that throughout his career and to myself, even if he hasn't had game time he would have liked. He'll show in coming games the qualities he has."

Monk has backed his forwards to find the net against Chelsea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

"You have chances in every game to score goals," he added. "I don't care if it's 1-0 or 7-0, the points are the main thing. We create numerous chances in every game, they [sometimes] warrant more goals, but as long as we're gathering the points, that's the main thing."

Chelsea claimed a 4-2 victory when the sides met at Stamford Bridge in September and hold a slender two-point lead over Manchester City at the summit of the BPL.

Swansea are ninth, but will be eager to halt their run of three league matches without a win.

Monk remains without Jefferson Montero (hamstring), Jonjo Shelvey (suspended) and Ki Sung-yueng, who is with South Korea at the Asian Cup, but has an otherwise fully-fit squad from which to choose.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is also spoilt for choice and could reintroduce Thibaut Courtois after the Belgium goalkeeper spent last weekend's match against Newcastle United on the bench with a finger injury.

The London club's last five away trips in the league have yielded just one win, but Chelsea have never lost to Swansea in the Barclays Premier League.

Swansea City (from): Cornell, Fabianski, Tremmel, Amat, Bartley, Fernandez, Kingsley, Rangel, Richards, Taylor, Tiendalli, Williams, Britton, Carroll, Dyer, Fulton, Routledge, Sigurdsson, Sheehan, Barrow, Emnes, Gomis, Oliveira.

Chelsea (from): Cech, Courtois, Ake, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Christensen, Filipe, Ivanovic, Terry, Zouma, Fabregas, Hazard, Matic, Mikel, Oscar, Ramires, Salah, Willian, Costa, Drogba, Remy, Schurrle, Solanke.

Lampard signed with City Football Group.

City Football Group owns controlling stakes in both Man City and New York City FC.

It's now a choice of whether Lampard was to work at a local branch(NYCFC) or head office(Man City)

All your talk of 'True Blue' is just rubbish. At the end of the day, it's only a Job, and Frank is only an Employee. I don't know if you work, but I've changed jobs a couple of times, on occasion switching to work for a direct competitor. I see no reason to carry my previous employers on my head like say na Government work.

In any case, I think Lampard's football loyalties should probably even lie with West Ham sef...
Exactly you nailed it, even though morally lampard might be wrong since it was with chelsea he came to limelight but wait a minute have heard of players moving from a rival club to another e.g Tevez, so no qualms as long as we dont lose the premier league title

Everyday we wake up to hear stories of corruption, we hear of billions of dollars missing from piblic coffers while we have people on the same our same country who dont have a Thousand naira to rub together. We all ask ourselves what is the way forward, how do we get out of this mess and we hear all lot of solutions being offered but I tell you for Nigeria to move forward we have to abandon some parts of our culture No 1: We need to reduce power given to Elders and people in authority, too much power is handed to People based on the fact that they are older than the others around them.Take for example in the yoruba culture if an issue/quarrel comes up, the younger one between them will be expected to apologise and take the blame even if he is the one that is being wronged Why should that be the case, it the same behaviour that is brought to fore at the national level where some people can just come and trample widely on any one with out regards for the person's right just because they ae in power.THIS HAS TO STOP IF WE ARE TO MOVE FORWARD. Also is the issue of Hypocrisy our culture allows too much of Hypocrisy especially that of religion you will find people criticizing the good works of others for No reason other that they are of different religious beliefs. It in Nigeria you would find a Father telling his children not to lie and steal whereas at his place of work he is the one who leads others to commit fraud, We are very fond of Holie than hou attitude we question those who do wrong, we abuse those embezzling funds but if majority of us shouting are given half the chancr we will do worse. This is a wake-up call to everyone that will read this we need to change our way of thinking and life. #my one kobo advice.
