European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Manchester City Vs Crystal Palace (3 - 0) On 20th December 2014 by pamcode(op): 10:53am On Dec 20, 2014
Manager Manuel Pellegrini says absences to key attacking players will force him to adopt a new approach when his Manchester City side host Crystal Palace on Saturday.

With top scorer Sergio Aguero already sidelined until the new year with a knee problem, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic both missed last weekend's 1-0 Barclays Premier League victory at Leicester City.

And Pellegrini revealed on Friday that the pair have not recovered in time for this weekend's meeting with Palace, meaning youngster Jose Angel Pozo is in line for a second consecutive start. "We are without Jovetic, Dzeko, Aguero," said Pellegrini. "We must change the way we play, a different system."

To compound City's problems, there will also be a hole to fill at the back where their captain Vincent Kompany will once again be missing after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury at Leicester.

"Vincent is recovering from his injury but he is not fit," said the Chilean, who can nonetheless draw succour from the fact that his side are on a seven-match winning run in all competitions and would pull level with Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea with a home victory over Palace on Saturday.

Indeed Pellegini's opposite number, Neil Warnock, has laughed off talk of an injury crisis, stressing City have the strength in depth to cope with the absences.

"Aguero is as good as anything, him and [Chelsea striker] Diego Costa are probably the best two in the Premier League," he added. "But if they wanted to give me Samir Nasri and David Silva I would take them tomorrow.

"I think they are as good as anybody in the country, those two. The difference between the top clubs and everyone at the bottom end is that every player in the 25 is a top international player who can play in several positions."

For their part Crystal Palace have just one win from their last 10 top-flight matches, and Warnock knows his side will need to be at their best to stand a chance of picking up a positive result this weekend.

"They are just hitting their form," he said. "It is always difficult to go to the Etihad - they play some wonderful football, but we have been playing well, so we do not go there with any fear.

"But we realise we have got to be on top of our game to come away with anything. We know our goalkeeper and our back four have got to play well and we have got to create chances.

"We have got to know what we are doing and be on top of our game - we have done that well recently but we step it up another gear now.

"We did well at Swansea (1-1) and Spurs (0-0), but now this is another challenge. We are going to the most difficult place, along with Stamford Bridge, so it is a good challenge for us."

The Eagles, who have not won at City since 1990, will be without Marouane Chamakh, ruled out with a hamstring problem, while Adrian Mariappa has returned to training after a knee injury.

I

If the time it takes to achieve something really counts, then you shot yourself in the foot by bringing Lampard into the discussion. Lampard scored his 175 goals in 19 years and in just one league.

Henry scored his 175 goals within just eight years (1999-2007). In addition he scored 20 goals at Monaco before arriving at Arsenal. And after leaving Arsenal, he scored 35 goals for Barca and 51 goals for New York Red Bulls.

In all, Henry had a total of 284 club goals between the same 19 years for which Lampard has played. And mind you, he traversed multiple leagues, Serie A inclusive.

Does that shut you up?

And did I see you write that Drogba is from CIV and Henry from France. That holds no water, bro. George Weah was World's best player, European best player, and African best player in the same year. Interestingly, he never played at the world cup.
guy lampard was a cm and he could equal henry's record and he was once a second best too.Back to the topic dont ever compare players again especially this ones they both did their thing and they did it well.#peace

Match Facts
Chelsea have won nine and lost just one
of the 12 league meetings with Stoke City,
but the defeat came last season in this
fixture at the Britannia Stadium.
Former Chelsea player Mark Hughes has
won two and lost none of the last four
home matches he has managed against
the Blues.
Stoke have conceded a goal in each of
their last 10 league matches; the longest
run without a clean sheet in the
competition this season.
Jose Mourinho surpassed the 400-point
mark as a BPL manager last weekend and
in doing so became the quickest to reach
this tally (174 games – 17 quicker than Sir
Alex Ferguson).
Eden Hazard has made more successful
passes in the attacking third than any
other Barclays Premier League player this
season (450).
Hazard has not scored a league goal away
from home since Jan 11th 2014, with his
last 11 goals in the competition all coming
at Stamford Bridge.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Liverpool Vs Chelsea: Carling Cup (1 - 1) On 20th January 2015 by pamcode(op): 1:29pm On Dec 18, 2014
Captain Steven Gerrard is set to return to the Liverpool team after being rested for the victory at Aston Villa.

Adam Lallana could feature after returning as an unused substitute from a thigh injury in that game.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from but could choose to make a few changes.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois may return after three games out with a minor finger injury but Cesar Azpilicueta is set to miss out with a groin problem.
MATCH PREVIEW

With Premier League leaders Chelsea side still going strong in the FA Cup and Champions League, the Capital One Cup is just one of four trophies that Jose Mourinho has his eye on this season.

And while its glamour and prestige may not match the other three, it would be fitting were the League Cup to be the first piece of silverware won on his return to the club.

For it was also his maiden trophy in his first stint with the Blues, when Chelsea beat Liverpool 3-2 in the final.

This time they must overcome the Reds in the semi-final - and for Mourinho, a visit to Anfield for the first leg has bitter-sweet memories.

Chelsea lost a Champions League semi-final there in 2005 after a controversial Luis Garcia goal but have had more success recently, including a win that derailed Liverpool's title bid last season, and a 2-1 victory in November.

"I have difficult memories at Liverpool as to lose a Champions League semi-final to a goal which was not a goal stays forever. You don't forget it," said the Portuguese manager.

"But we played there a couple of months ago and it's a historical stadium - who doesn't like to go there and play? Everybody likes it, I like it, my players like it and it's only good feelings to play at Anfield."

Liverpool have failed to beat Chelsea in any of their five meetings under Brendan Rodgers but the Reds have been building up momentum after a slow start to the season.

They are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions, and haven't lost at Anfield since that defeat to Chelsea in November, and Rodgers believes Tuesday's game will be a different encounter.

"When we last played them, we weren't in a good moment but we're developing, improving and confidence is very high," said Rodgers.

The 41-year-old was part of Mourinho's staff in the 2005 League Cup win, and now has his eyes on establishing his own dynasty with his first trophy as Liverpool manager.

"We see this as an opportunity this season to win a trophy. It's a group that's forming - and winning a trophy, a competition, could really bring the future of the team on," he said.

"Over the last 10 years, [Chelsea] have shown once you win the first one, you can go on and sustain it. They will tell you that first trophy was the most important.

"We know if you want to win the competition you have to beat the best teams."

Education › Why Does Cutting Onions Make Us Shed Tears-find out by pamcode(op): 10:19pm On Dec 12, 2014
Question: Why Do Onions Make You Cry?
Answer: Unless you've avoided cooking,
you've probably cut up an onion and
experienced the burning and tearing you
get from the vapors. When you cut an
onion, you break cells, releasing their
contents. Amino acid sulfoxides form
sulfenic acids. Enzymes that were kept
separate now are free to mix with the
sulfenic acids to produce propanethiol S-
oxide, a volatile sulfur compound that wafts
upward toward your eyes. This gas reacts
with the water in your tears to form sulfuric
acid. The sulfuric acid burns, stimulating
your eyes to release more tears to wash the
irritant away.
