emmanuelewumi: How can they have capital gain tax on turnover? From the link below: On capital gains, Oyedele said if what an individual sells at the capital market in a year is not more than N150 million and the gain is not more than N10 million, no tax will be paid, stressing that the new rules were intentionally designed to be progressive in all manners. “The current system of capital gains will charge you at 10 percent. Those gains are isolated regardless of your losses. Under the new regime, we net off first, so gains less losses. When you end up with a net gain, we then have a conversation about whether you should pay tax. If those gains still make you a low-income earner, you will not pay anything – zero percent,” he said. Yoursfaithful: Wahala no dey finish for this country..

mikeapollo: Exactly! So after selling the shares, how would govt distinguish or identify reinvestment from withdrawal? … Will govt connect their IT systems to monitor when the investor reinvests (buys other shares) either through the same broker, or through the same CHN number, or when the broker transfers the proceeds of shares sold to investor's bank account? What happens if the investor uses or transfers his shares to a different trading CHN account, different broker etc The TIN will sort that out |

Streetinvestor2: The only way this failed government will see CGT from me is if they take from me at source
This is my question. If the chinko guys decided to buy us out as per wapco. Which tax will be applicable on our payment. Is it WHT or CGT so I won't fall maga to this government My money will never part of the money they are planning to loot before 2027 to be kicked out The two both of them |

ositadima1: The tax law seems to provide a loophole specifically for stocks. If you reinvest your earnings within the same tax year, you don’t pay tax on those earnings for that year — tax is only applied to the portion you withdraw without reinvesting.
Sounds almost like money laundering, lol. I believe the CGT is based on profit or loss from your entire portfolio (hence linking TIN to your brokerage account) and not individual stocks, over a consecutive 12-month period. So, this method may not be feasible but it’s worth the try with impatient funds |

ositadima1: You’re all missing something—at least that’s how I see it, and I may be wrong. Tax is per individual and progressive (by this I mean the various brackets with their cumulative percentages) ….
This is because tax is applied per individual, not based on the specific source of income. And that is the summary of it all. These taxes have always been applicable at other rates before this new law, just that it was not really enforced. Also, many people rarely comply due to low tax morale for obvious reasons. |

emmanuelewumi: In that 25 years they were bigger than CCNN, what stopped them from maintaining the lead
Whereas CCNN got a new core investor 16 years ago and then rebranded to BUA cement and now bigger than Lafarge.
Hope you remember the financial mistake made by Lafarge when they bought a business in South Africa which created a debt of about N100 billion In summary, they did not repatriate money to France for 60 years but they did not do well compared to their peers/ juniors |

When I say 10% I'm talking approximately
Day trading at 9-10% is just as profitable as extended holding The day highs are circled green and e no even reach 1%. If you can’t trade enough numbers for your ~ 10% to reflect that, then e no work
