<< Speaking on TV, Lt-Gen Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan (said) the army would maintain "peace, order and security" across Sudan during an already announced transition period that would last at most two years until elections could be and civilian rule introduced, he added. >>

The Sudan Professionals Association (SPA), which has been spearheading the demonstrations urged the armed forces to "ensure the immediate transfer of power to a transitional civilian government."
It also called for protests to continue.

Foreign AffairsIn Which SADC Country Would You Invest ? by panafrican(op): 3:59am On Apr 11, 2019
Which SADC country would be your best choice to invest your money, taking into account variables such as : political stability, the fiscal system, accountability, transparency, public safety, strength of the economy, the paperwork and the time it would take to start a business, how welcoming people are, transportation, telecommunication, the cost of living , roads quality, shipping, and the office system.

SADC countries are:

Angola
The Republic of Angola covers 1,247,000 km² in the western region of Southern Africa. It is the second largest country south of the Sahara after the Democratic Republic of Congo. The country can be divided into six geomorphologic areas: Coastal area, marginal mountain chains, the old tableland, Zaire basin and the basins of the Zambezi and Cubango.

Botswana
Botswana is a completely landlocked country in the centre of Southern Africa. One of Southern Africa’s longest rivers, the Okavango, flows into the north-western part of the country, forming the UNESCO World Heritage Site Okavango Delta. Botswana shares borders with South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Comoros
The Union of the Comoros was admitted to SADC at the 37th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in August 2017, then became a full member at the 38th Summit of Heads of State and Government on August 2018 in Windhoek Namibia.

Democratic Republic of Congo
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), formerly known as the Republic of Zaire, is geographically the largest state in Southern and Central Africa. It is situated at the heart of Africa, and lies on the Equator, covering an area of 2,345,095 km². The DRC has 37 kilometres of coastline and geography characterised by a vast central basin low-lying plateau rising to volcanoes and mountains in the east.

Eswatini
The Kingdom of Eswatini is landlocked country covering a total area of 17 364 km2 and is located in the Southern part of Africa bordered by the Republic of Mozambique to the east and the rest by the Republic of South Africa. Known as the Switzerland of Africa, Swaziland comprises magnificent mountain scenery with unique, ancient rock formations, which are a source of fascination for geologist, scholars and visitors. Within this small area each feature of Africa’s terrain, apart from desert, is to be found.

Lesotho
The Kingdom of Lesotho is situated in the south eastern region of Southern Africa, covering an area of 30,355 km² and is entirely surrounded by South Africa. Lesotho’s geographical formation is characterised by high mountains and deep valleys, and it is the only country in the world to have all its entire territory located at more than 1,000 metres above sea level. More than 75 % of Lesotho is mountainous, with only 25 % considered lowland.

Madagascar
The island of Madagascar is situated 400 km off the east coast of Africa, separated from the mainland by the Mozambique Channel. It is a large island, stretching 1,580 km from north to south and 600 km from east to west, with a coastline of about 5,000 km. The topography is varied; hilly in the north and in the central part of the island (high plateaus with altitude between 1,200 and 1,500 metres) and plains in the east, west and south.

Malawi
Malawi is a landlocked country, located in southern central Africa along the western part of the Great Rift Valley of Africa. Covering a total area of 118,484 km², it stretches some 900 km north to south, and between 90 and 161 km east to west. Malawi is bordered by the United Republic of Tanzania to the north and north east, Mozambique to the east, south and south west, and Zambia to the west.

Mauritius
The Republic of Mauritius is situated in the south west Indian Ocean, approximately 2,400 km from the south east coast of Africa, located just to the north of the Tropic of Capricorn. The island is only 67 km in length and 46 km at its widest point, with a total land area of 2,040 km², owing its origins to submarine volcanic activity. Although the volcanoes are long since dormant, they have left their mark on the profile and landscape of the island.

Mozambique
Mozambique lies on the east coast of Southern Africa, measuring a total of some 799,380 km² in area. The country borders the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. The country’s extensive coastline stretches 2,515 km along the south east and east coast of Africa. The Zambezi and Limpopo rivers, two of Africa’s major rivers, flow through Mozambique to the Indian Ocean.

Namibia
Namibia is situated on Africa’s south-western seaboard. Its neighbouring countries are Angola to the north, Botswana and Zimbabwe to the east and South Africa to the south. The country is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the west. The country covers 825,615 km² (almost four times the size of the UK and twice that of Germany) and is divided into 13 regions as determined by the delimitation commission.

Seychelles
The cosmopolitan Seychellois are a colourful and harmonious blend of different races, which stem from African, European and Asian roots all of whom have brought something of their own customs and way of life to the islands. The result is a charming Creole culture enriched from the melting pot of many continents.

South Africa
The Republic of South Africa occupies the southernmost part of the African continent stretching from the Limpopo River in the north to Cape Agulhas in the south. Covering an area of 1,219,090 km², the country shares borders with Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe in the north, and with Swaziland and Mozambique in the north east. It also entirely surrounds the Kingdom of Lesotho.

United Republic of Tanzania
The United Republic of Tanzania includes the Indian Ocean islands of Pemba and Zanzibar and the mainland territory, covering a total area of 1,0219,090 km², and is located on the east coast of Africa between the great lakes of the African Rift Valley system in the central part of the continent and the Indian Ocean.

Zambia
Zambia is an entirely landlocked country covering an area of 752,612 km². To the north it is bordered by the Democratic Republic of Congo and the United Republic of Tanzania, to the west by Angola, to the south west by Namibia, to the east by Malawi and Mozambique, and to the south by Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe occupies 390,757 km² of land in south Central Africa, between the Limpopo and Zambezi rivers. The land-locked country is bounded by Mozambique to the east, Zambia to the north and north west, South Africa to the south, and to the south west by Botswana. It lies wholly within the tropics and is part of the great plateau which traverses Africa

Russia denies supporting Khalifa Haftar and his forces in Libya

AfricanNews.com
The Kremlin said on Friday it was not helping Libyan military forces loyal to eastern commander Khalifa Haftar push westward and that it supported a negotiated political settlement to Libya’s problems that ruled out any new bloodshed.

The Kremlin was commenting after U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was flying to eastern Libya to meet Haftar, whose forces a day earlier began an offensive to take control of the capital currently held by an internationally recognised government.

“We are closely following the situation in Libya,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. “Of course we consider that the most important thing is that (military) operations there do not lead to bloodshed. The situation should be resolved peacefully.”

Libya crisis: Fighting flares on outskirts of Tripoli

Pro-government militias from the city of Misrata have been moving to defend Tripoli

Reports say rebel forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar are in three areas near the outskirts of the city.

Tripoli is the base of the UN-backed and internationally recognised government.

The UN's Libya envoy has insisted that a planned conference on possible new elections will still go ahead.

Why is Libya so lawless?

What's happening on the ground?
General Haftar - who was appointed chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA) under an earlier UN-backed administration - ordered his forces to advance on Tripoli on Thursday, as UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was in the city to discuss the ongoing crisis.

They have been fighting in several areas, including near the disused international airport south of Tripoli.

The LNA said it had been targeted by air strikes to the south of Tripoli by a plane that had taken off from Misrata. Pro-government forces in Tripoli said they had launched "intensive strikes".

Gen Haftar spoke to Mr Guterres in Benghazi on Friday, and reportedly told him that his operation would not stop until his troops had defeated "terrorism".

Tripoli residents have begun stocking up on food and fuel, AFP reported.

LNA troops seized the south of Libya and its oil fields earlier this year.

What's been the reaction?
The G7 group of major industrial nations has urged all parties "to immediately halt all military activity". The UN Security council has issued a similar call.

Russia has also called on parties in the escalating conflict to find an agreement.

Speaking in Egypt, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov also warned against what he called foreign meddling in Libya.

Russia and Egypt have provided support to Gen Haftar.

UN envoy Ghassan Salame said on Saturday that the conference planned for 14-16 April would still be held in time, despite the escalation - "unless compelling circumstances force us not to".

Go and read the slave trade act 1807 to know the reason why slave trade was abolished and not the empty assumption you made up there. Many factors played a role.
You are a purveyor of conspiracy theories, who gives a damn about the size of Nigeria. Nigeria and africa can never be a threat to the west. The only threat to the west is islam. Africa has no religion and language. Either we are christian or muslim, either we speak english or french. Infact the west does give a damn about us. They only fear china and islam.
The baulin you wrote up there is a nobody, he has no influence whatsoever to the cause of history. Whether he made ojukwu to run to the ivory coast doesnt mean that the west caused the civil war. The civil war was caused because ojukwu who studied in uk had his mind transformed to never believe his people would play second fiddle.
Your uncle is a story teller and that what he is. I am intellectual that would buy an event that was properly documented and published all over the world after rigorous review. And the verdict is this people were sold by their brothers to the white man.

The slave code act in 1807 !
When did slavery start in America ? 1619 when that Deutsch slave ship brought 20 African Slaves to the British Colony of Jamestiwn Virginia.
From that date to 1807 , how many years was that ?

You forgot about attempting to genocide Jewish people. The Nazis killed many others also in their death camps. If the Nazis were successful they would have invaded various African countries. The first goal of the Nazis was genociding Jews, Slavs, Roma people. After gaining control of Europe the Nazi plans was for total control of Africa. The Italian allies would take the top 1/3 of Africa, and the Nazis would control the rest of the continent.

In 1940 the general staff of the Kriegsmarine (navy) produced a much more detailed plan accompanied by a map showing a proposed German colonial empire delineated in blue (the traditional color used in German cartography to indicate the German sphere of influence as opposed to the red or pink that represented the British Empire) in sub-Saharan Africa, extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean.[50] The proposed domain was supposed to fulfill the long-sought territorial German goal of Mittelafrika, and even further beyond. It would provide a base from which Germany would achieve a pre-eminent position on the African continent just as the conquest of Eastern Europe was to achieve a similar status over the continent of Europe.

for your first paragraph no. Granted you are angry because of the past, the past remains the past. What I am concerned is how can slavery be still going on in 2019? How can you attack europeans who abolished slavery several years ago and leave out arabs who are still trading slaves in 2019?
Now why do you think is christianity that made them enslave us? Afterall our brothers sold each other to them for money. If we resisted them they would have left but our people sold their brothers to them and they had no choice to buy. It is chtistianity that is making them give money to feed the poor among your midst when your leaders cannot do so through the USAID and Worldbank. it was christianity that made angela merkel takes 1 million refugees when no one came to their aid, the name of her party is Christian Democrats. It was chrsitianity that made mary slessor to stop the killing of twins in calabar. It was the world council of churches that fed igbo children during the civil ....
Do you know how many Nigerians ( Igbo,Yoruba, Hausa ,...) died to save Europe from Hitler ?
Do you know the exact number ?
How were Nigerians WW2 veterans paid compared to those from the UK ?

Talking about Europeans having abolished slavery ?
Well, check the timeline of the industrial revolution. The more technology was being used in farming, road infrastructure and other civil works at affordable price, the less slave masters needed slaves.

Buying a machine that could do the same job as 100 slaves was less costly and above all posed no risk compared to having to get on a boat , travel for one month or more to go to African jungles and risk one's life to capture slaves. That was why they stopped slavery for " human reasons" the same way they stopped using horses in farming and transportation when cars were invented. Got it ? !

Remember this : When the industrial revolution was coming to life, slave masters had already spent two or three centuries practicing slavery and making big fortunes out of slave labor.

About your " ours own brothers sold us " stuff. It is pure nonsense when you know Europeans came to Africa with chains and guns on purpose to capture slaves. They waged devastating wars, burning down kingdoms, kidnapping Kings , peasants, men, women and children on purpose to deport them to the so - called New World and use them as free labor.

Personally I had an uncle who died 40 years ago ( 1979) at the age of 100 or more. Still remember when he was telling us how during the late 1800 , people were running away from the white man , how women had to kill their own babies to prevent the baby from crying in the bush. It was the cries of the babies that help slave hunters locate anyone in hiding.
Those stories are not from a book written by a
" compassionate Christian and former slave owner who apologised " after making a fortune from slave labor.

Back to the good Samaritan during the war in Nigeria.
Have you heard about Jacques Baulin? He was an former influencial advisor to president Houphouet Boigny of Cote d' Ivoire? Baulin was a Christian.

He was one of the Europeans who couldn't stand the size of Nigeria. They were afraid Nigeria could become an African superpower.Baulin wrote a book in which he spent most of his time complaining why Nigeria was so big .
Him and other imperialists were behind the scene , taking advantage of the mayhem in Nigeria to fuel the civil war.
It comes to no surprise when Ojuku fled to
Cote d' Ivoire for asylum when things turned ugly.

Now Markel. She accpeted refugees thanks to her humble background in East Germany where she was born. She grew up under a communist Soviet - style regime, and learned how to help without always expecting any financial profit .

jesmond3945:
thats double standard bro. You cannot codemn the lesser devil while leaving out the bigger one. I have never had any issue with white people but i have serious issue with arabs. Probably when you experience them we can discuss objectively.
Besides if it was the church that wrote the black code why are african americans trooping to church in miilions? Why is christianity still thriving in Africa?
You contradicted yourself when said you had more issues with Arabs and no issue with Europeans, after stating that one cannot excuse the lesser devil while leaving out the bigger one. Are you saying slavery under Europeans helm was a heavenly act ?

Nonetheless you asked some interesting questions about Christianity striving in Africa and Black Americans being Christians. The answer to your question is simple: Europeans are liars and hypocritical. Many of them are atheists and opportunists.
They twisted Christianity to serve they imperialist needs. They joked about having used religion to conquer peoples in foreign lands. They even joked about sins, the same way the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah laughed when God warned them.
You know how those two cities ended.

The time is not far when an African Pope will be appointed to rid the Church of pedophiles and usurpers.
