Algeria Summons French Ambassador Over Alleged Hostile Actions by French Intelligence
The accusations come amid Algeria's ongoing allegations against France following its decision to recognize Morocco's sovereignty over its southern provinces.

Rabat — The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reportedly summoned France's ambassador to Algeria, Stéphane Romatet, in protest over what it described as repeated "hostile actions" by French intelligence targeting Algerian state institutions.

According to El Khabar newspaper, a source close to the Algerian presidency, the ministry expressed its "dissatisfaction and condemnation" of these practices, calling them "unacceptable and intolerable."

During the meeting, Algerian officials reportedly presented alleged evidence of French intelligence involvement in “destabilizing activities,” including “attempts to smuggle weapons and ammunition into Algeria” and “efforts to recruit former extremists for operations targeting Algerian security.”

This latest accusation against France comes amid similar allegations Algeria made in response to the European country’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara.

France announced its recognition over Morocco’s sovereignty in July.

US Spy Plane Violates Uganda, DRC Air Spaces

A US spy plane breached the airspaces of Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) last month, according to Ugandan media.

The violations were recorded three times on November 14, 15, and 26, Kampala Post reported, citing military sources.

According to the outlet, a Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft flew over Kasese and Bundibugyo in Uganda and Beni in the DRC.

The aircraft, with the tail number N9191, is leased by the US Department of Defense and is used for surveillance, the outlet added.

It is based out of Djibouti, which houses a US Navy base.

False Permission Sought
The US Defense Attaché’s Office in Kampala had sought permission for the aircraft to transport personnel and cargo to the DRC.

However, a probe was ordered after it never landed at its destination and was spotted making “suspicious maneuvers” in both the countries’ airspaces, Kampala Post wrote.

The “US controllers of the spy aircraft did not bother to even ask the DRC for permission to enter their airspace,” the outlet wrote.

“Instead, it was the Ugandan air traffic controllers who notified the understandably enraged DRC air traffic controllers.”

Both Uganda’s President and the Chief of Military Staff have reportedly been apprised of the matter and the aircraft’s earlier authorization has been revoked.

Arab Bishop tells Islamic rebels that Christians can't be 'second-class citizens' in Syria

Leaders of churches and ecclesial communities in Syria met with representatives of the armed Islamic-led rebel groups that seized control of the country amid fears that Christians could face persecution or strict regulations that could disrupt their faith life.

Monday's meeting in Aleppo followed the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime's rule earlier this month after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a jihadist group linked with Al-Qaeda, seized various cities. The rebels captured Damascus days after the takeover of Aleppo and Hama.

"I told them that we, as Arab Christians, represent a unique reality in history and in the world. I recalled some examples of the history of Muslim Arabs with Christians and the contribution of Christians to this history," Audo said.

"I added that the status of the 'dhimmi' (non-Muslim members of a state guided by Islamic law, ed.) can be interpreted both negatively and positively, that Christians cannot be second-class citizens and that we must work together," the bishop continued.

watchdog groups have expressed concerns about the potential dangers Christians in the region could now face.

David Curry, CEO of Global Christian Relief, shared that the group has maintained a network on the ground in Syria for the last two years. In an interview with The Christian Post, Curry revealed that the Islamic rebel forces stole humanitarian aid that GCR had delivered to churches in the area weeks before the takeover.

The advocate also highlighted Aleppo's declining Christian population, the result of fewer believers feeling safe in a place that historically has always been the "center for Christian faith in Syria." Curry predicted that this trend would only continue, especially now that HTS-led rebels have taken over.

"Considered a terrorist organization, they have, in less than two weeks, ethnically cleansed the northwest of Syria — including Aleppo and beyond — of Kurds and Christians," Curry said. "Despite public protestations to the contrary, we can expect them to extend their campaign to the rest of the country."
