Eish, let me provide a little bit of clarity. There is the funeral on Sunday to be held in rural Qunu and then there is the memorial service tomorrow to be held in Johannesburg. There is no way that all these world leaders will make their way to Qunu, it will be a logistical nightmare. All the presidents of the countries of the world have been arriving since this afternoon, they will all fill up the Soccer City stadium tomorrow for the memorial severice. They will then leave and go back to their country after the service. It's a in-and-out type of thing.

Eg: The Americans have planned it such that Obama lands tomorrow morning, flies by helicopter to the stadium and flies back to the airport after the service.

I don't think that the funeral on Sunday will be as big as the memorial service tomorrow.

They always visit South Africa in July(middle of winter for us) and we see them walking around in shorts and t-shirts while us locals(local whites included) are wearing many layers of warm clothing. In SA it only snows in Sutherland and the Drakensburg mountains. Snow in the major centre like Joburg happens once every decade or more and it make news when it happens because it's so rare.

Bantu education is astonishing. Of course people are able to "settle" anywhere on the face of the planet post modern era. You can find black people in iceland and white people in the deserts of Dubai.

However the above observation does not diminish the sufficient factor i.e Climate/Physical environment that influences human settlement as opposed to a necessary factor of human settlements i.e. economics.

You seem not to understand the implications of the Dutch east indian company's presence "exclusive" to the cape colony versus the British Imperial colonization of the same area, nor do you by any means want to acknowledge the fact that the would-be EUROPEAN migrants who followed suite were looking for an escape route out of europe mainly due to "religious persecution" and "taxation policies" in Europe. THese people became settlers.


The British were the true colonizers of South Africa and similar to most of their other colonies came to exploit natural resources and ship back to their Home countries, when their imperial power dwindled, they left each colony. The climate factor would be irrelevant to them inall instances because the idea was never to resettle british people while the opposite was the case for the so called Afrikaaner.

I can't believe that your world view is so limited. Do you know why so many people(all races) are moving to unlivable places like Dubai? The weather is no barrier where there is cash to be made. I repeat, whites would have stayed in their numbers had Naija oil been discovered in the 1800s, this would have brought in more whites to set up feeder industries and in no time and a full fledge economy would flourish.

Colonisation was alll about economics. Whites settled in SA because they had already found all the resources. It's a pity that whites found your oil too late, nevertheless you still find plenty of whites in the oil rich regions of Nigeria. This has nothing to do with the weather, people will settle wherever money can be made regardless of the elements
