again, dstv's subscriber base in Nigeria is over 1 million [even babies know this]
http://m.allafrica.com/stories/201208270494.html/

if you care to know, startimes [late comers in the game] [starsaat in SA] in Nigeria has over 1,3 million subscribers
m.allafrica.com/stories/201306260617.html/
Why are you gloating about a Chinese company? You were also bragging about GOtv which is a MultiChoice offering that, oddly enough, is not available to South Africans.

I don't know the subscriber numbers, but I think the best thing to do is to go through the Naspers annual report. http://www.naspers.com/

The hatred SAffas show for other Africans comes from "projecting" how Whites have viewed them as inferior beings and has little to do with getting better service, free electricity and the likes. In other words we can argue being "better than" someone as opposed to being "better off" . Poor Chinese people migrate to SA, I don't see any uproars about their presence. Are they competing for resources the same as other Africans?

The sense of entitlement comes from the fact that they believe they have contributed enough to South Africa and have suffered generations under a brutal regime, therefore they are entitled to the government doing everything for them since the previous one so neglected them.

The political and economic structures inherited by SA pre 1994 facilitates this thought process when in fact it does nothing for their mentality as they remain tribalistic, nepotistic and corrupt as many African governments remain.
I still don't get how all that can be called inferiority complexion and jealousy. South Africans don't see Africans as superior and there's nothing jealous of. Your argument about projection is just grasping at straws, I think that you've misconceived the theory.

Poor Chinese don't migrate to SA and if they do, they don't find themselves in areas where they cheat the system to qualify for services meant for South Africans. Zimbabweans did this and it created resentment which led to violence.

I don't see where tribalism and nepotism fits in but it's true that a sense of entitlement exists which then makes me wonder how it's possible to feel inferior and be jealous of other people who are on the same or lower class. The sense of entitlement is also maintain by a government that continues to deliver on social programmes albeit not properly. South Africans would have long lost their sense of entitlement had the government stole all the money and delivered nothing like much of Africa.

Its actually the the other way round.

living amongst "Whites" for a long period of time leaves a legacy of inferiority complex, jealousy and hatred for your own kind
But I have always understood your argument to be that black South Africans have spent so much time around whites that they have become like whites or aspire to be like whites hence the "hatred" for other Africans. I don't see how this can be classed as inferiority complex and jealousy when citizens of our country inherently consider themselves better.

I have said this before that there are millions of South Africans who are just as poor or even poorer then many Nigerians but the difference is that the SA poor are better because they have government services like free electricity, free tap water, free housing, welfare money for their kids, etc. and those who are not satisfied with these free services go out to the streets and protest. Zuma then comes out and calls them lazy.

I have been trying to get people to realize the above for a long time, hanging around European peoples have warped your senses.

Unfortunately only the Nigerians have the guts to call you guys out for what you are!

Ps, isn't it voting time for you Ms Motswana.
But your mission is futile coz you're attempting to prove to people something which they already know and acknowledge. We all know that SA with its people is different, the debates are always about the reasons for it being different. And the funny thing is that the reasons are not really disputed.

Sorry , your so called judgment on my "understanding" is at present mere "opinion" and carries no weight since you haven't really said anything.

Please point to specifics, I do not have time to go through all that content which 99%, does not relate to anything being talked about here.
A judgement is an opinion, an objective opinion.

I get that you want me to educate you on something that you pretended to be knowledgeable about, but I think that it will be a waste of time.

I was just just trying to gauge your understanding which I have now judged to be zero, it was just the usual pretentiousness.

I had already lined up judgements(interpretation of law) from the website listed below, but I just figured the argument would be pointless.

Birth and Death Registration act

"Notice of birth of illegitimate child"

(1) Notice of birth of an illegitimate child shall be given
(a) under the surname of the mother; or
(b) at the joint request of the mother and of the person who in the presence of the person to whom the notice of birth was given acknowledges himself in writing to be the father of the child and enters the prescribed particulars regarding himself upon the notice of birth, under the surname of the person who has so acknowledged.
What is your understanding that provision? How do you relate to other legislation?

Go and read your countries Birth registration act or better yet go to your Home affairs website and go read up on issues of birth registration for children born to Foreign nationals or in or out of wedlock.

Hahahaha. Before I correct you, please tell me which section of Births and Deaths Registration act states that and how do you relate it to the South African Citizenship Act or Natural Fathers of Children Born out of Wedlock Act.

I'll be patiently waiting.

Why are you so trigger happy in the military thread? The regular contributors in that thread have no issue with the way it is, they regulate themselves and they routinely call each other out for not meeting the standards of the thread. Please chill because I enjoy browsing that thread.

You will see that MTN largest markets are Nigeria, South Africa and Iran.

point of correction

mtn makes 30% of their revenue in nigeria which trumps any other country they've invested

miniature by sa, I guess you mean small when you compare asset base? True. However, first bank has more customer base than any bank on the continent., why gtbank is the most innovative on the continent(2013 or so)
Customers numbers don't mean much if the customer has little income. MTN Nigeria has way more subscribers than MTN SA, yet MTN SA makes just as much money as MTN Nigeria.

lmao! ok lets look at it this way... FNB, Absa, nedbank etc.. which of them is owned by blacks? thats basically of the bedrock of a country. . the financial industry. we pioneered zenith, gtbank , firstbank (one of the best on the continent) amongst others...
Globacom second biggest employs thousands of nigerians (black also)... what has your boers maintained for us? than shoprite, dstv and mtn.. which have local competitions... other things you done is to buy equity in nigerian businesses . . you're drunk!
Those banks(except absolutely)are owned by pension funds. It's so easy to go to the JSE website to see share holdings of listed companies. Those Naija banks you listed are miniature by SA, they would be placed on the same level as what we call micro-lenders.

the argument is not about the poor boers but the people that developed SA. the grand decision makers, the investors etc... 98% of all was in place pre-94
I'm not sure where you get the 98% statistic. I won't be able to debate with you if you thumb suck numbers.

The argument has already been settled that whites developed most of the developed parts of Africa(Nigeria included). The difference is that South Africa has been maintaining, integrating and expanding what has already been developed while in places like Nigeria you see decay of British development and the little development that happens is spearheaded by foreigners(South African included).

So while you speak of pre-1994 grand decision makers, the reality is that in Nigeria the grand decision makers remain foreign people.

Foreign AffairsRe: Foreigners Are Not Lazy Like You Poor South Africans - Zuma Says by paniki(m): 8:17am On Oct 22, 2014
Ignorance is bliss.

Afrikaners where generally poor peasants who where considered inferior by the British.(Boer means farmer). Their emergence was only in 1948 when they got hold of the government from the Brits. That's when they began to implement their own form of Afrikaner empowerment which was spearheaded by the Afrikaner broederbond. They flushed out all the Brits from the government and replaced them with Afrikaners, they used government money to finance Afrikaner owned companies which are now very big in SA. They also implemented apartheid because they feared that blacks would interfere with their empowerment.

I can go on and on about how Afrikaners empowered themselves using government resources. But what's safe to conclude is that the boer(farmer) was a second class citizen until 1948.

Yet everyday millions of South Africans wake up and spend their days generating income which his government then taxes. They use this tax revenue to fund all these programs that he's bragging about and they also steal some of that money, but the good thing is that some are asking him to "pay back the money".
