Foreign AffairsObama's Presidency And Nigeria; 3 Reasons A Trump Win Is Good News by Papilo87(op): 12:10pm On Nov 09, 2016
I will not waste anyone's time with rigmaroles. Straight to the chase

1. Under Obama blacks were shot dead many times as never before under a recent US President

Yet he did almost nothing to reverse the trend. Even several bloody protests didn't stop the shooting of black suspects recklessly by some American policemen.

Was Obama's Presidency a blessing to black Americans? You decide

2. Under Obama What Exactly Did Africa Gain Policy Wise?

Again ask yourself and answer yourself.

3. What About Obama's Effect on Nigeria?

Obama's government clearly only recognised the Northern hegemony in Nigeria (this is not a mere tribalistic issue mind you).

Just a few weeks or months back the US government officials hosted Northern governors to a meeting we still don't know what they discussed. A top US govt official from the Home Office visited Northern Nigeria and the Sultanate to be precise. Some Nigerians complained about the messages these sort of things send but they were either ignored or told to shut up.

Obama's and the entire Democratic party govt acted like Nigeria was made up of the North and others. The kind of U-turn they did from refusing to support GEJ's fight against Boko Haram to romancing the Buhari govt was amazing . So did the brutality and corruption of the Nigerian Army end when Buhari came to power?

Hell No!!!

Same Nigerian Army has committed acts of bizarre massacre and murder of Nigerian citizens (from SHiites to Ipob protesters) but the Obama govenment embraced and resumed cooperating with them.

So you see it's not about picking up your phone and tweeting and posting nonsense without realising what is at play.

DOnald J. Trump's Presidency is good for Nigeria!!

How You ask?

Maybe it will force us to actually look at ourselves as the puppet and pests we are and concentrate on forcing our leaders and our politics to pursue meaningful development instead of playing with our sensibilities.

Those who have discerning minds may they read and understand.

BiafraBushBoy:
All these stories are bullcrap...!!
Trump won because of one reason:
After 8 solid years of black governance, these white Americans don't want any more of non-American influx into America.
They had Jobs to protect, dominance and Etc.
Trump held that key and even Democrats secretly voted for Trump!! Believe me.
After 8yrs, they will realize their pain like we are all doing now in Nigeria...
#Buharichange = #Trumpchange
Read the post again. This time slowly. Maybe you can understand better what we are talking about here
PoliticsLessons For Nigerians As Trump Wins The US Presidential Elections by Papilo87(op): 11:33am On Nov 09, 2016
Several key lessons from Donald Trump's victory;

1. These celebrities don't decide shit.

Beyonce and co performed for Hillary in Ohio, she lost there. Countless so called black celebrities identified with Hillary (despite the fact she isn't actually one to be called their friend). Still she lost in places unexpected!

2. The Big Media is Dying but Keep Attaching Too Much Importance to Themselves:

CNN, New York Times (name all the big TV and print/online media) all pushed what they wanted. They didn't get it. Social media has taken all of that power away; they no longer decide for people how to think, what to think, what to wear etc. While Clinton took all those mass media peeps on her back the Donald went grassroots. guess who won again?

3. Nigerians are the biggest hypocrites on earth!:

Bash me if you like but imagine Nigerians berating Americans for making their choice when we have made our own horrendous choice (I accept my portion of the blame here) and still many don't accept they made a wrong choice. Imagine Nigerians calling Americans racist for choosing Trump when back home here you cannot even marry someone from another tribe without surmountable gigantic opposition from friends and family.

4. The Nyansh of the False Prophets Have been Opened Again:

Expect some people to claim they never predicted Clinton to win. Some prophets we know (who never prophesy about the issues facing us here will rather go and predict bullshit on every foreign matter including sports and elections. Now the next thing they'll claim they never said it was Clinton who will win

5. It's time for Nigerians to face their own business:

We pokenosed, cursed and railed. Most people against Trump did so purely because of the threat having easy access to USA denied to Africans. Trump is not wrong for seeing Africans as pests. He even said some of these African countries need to be recolonised. It's that bad. We steal ourselves blind and want to go to the countries where things have been made better. Maybe now Trump has worn we should all stay here and work hard to stop allowing our polithieficians kill our future!

Christianity EtcNigeria’s 10 Richest Pastors And Preachers Of 2016 by Papilo87(op): 4:14pm On Oct 20, 2016
Culled from Nairabrains.com

One of the earlier posts we did on ranking Nigeria’s richest pastors was well received. Few years later a lot has changed and we have now a well researched, expanded list on not just the richest pastors in Nigeria but preachers generally.

Some of our readers (who may be too religious) say we have done quite a lot of focus posts on Pastors in Nigeria and their wealth but we certainly need an updated list. Don’t we?

Here’s the definitive list of Top 10 Richest Pastors and Preachers in Nigeria! In no particular order

William Kumuyi

William Folorunsho Kumuyi is the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life church which was previously one of the biggest megachurches in Nigeria.

Mr Kumuyi left teaching at the University of Lagos to become a full time minister in 1973.

Several decades later Deeper Life Bible Church is one of the mega churches in the country and indeed the rest of the world.

Deeper Life Bible Church was named the world’s largest mega church by Foreign Policy magazine in 2013. The church’s headquarters at KM24 on the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway is worth billions of naira.

Recently Pastor Kumuyi was named as one of the 500 most influential people on the planet apparently owing to his reach in Christendom via his mega church.

Pastor Kumuyi is arguably a bigger preacher and pastor than most of the jetsetting pastors but it is not clear yet if he owns one. What is certain is that he lives a little below the radar when compared to the likes of Chris Oyakhilome and David Oyedepo.

Bishop David Oyedepo

For some years now Bishop Oyedepo has been on top the list of richest pastors in Nigeria. He has been the most flamboyant of the rich pastors and preachers in Nigeria owning several private jets. Born in 1954 the Kwara State born Preacher is the founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, known popularly as Winners’ Chapel worldwide a church that is now located in over 300 cities across Nigeria and several cities in 45 countries.

Seen as one of the pioneers of the Christian charismatic movement in Africa Oyedepo has done well for himself. He is the Chancellor of Covenant University and Landmark University the former becoming one of the elite private universities in Nigeria with school fees often too high for majority of even his church members to afford.

He is the proud owner of at least 3 private jets one of which is Gulfstream V jet. He also owns the prestiguous Heritage Schools across Nigeria, a publishing company Dominion Publishing and several high value cars. He has authored and luanched several books sold in millions of copies across the world.

Oyedepo is the quintessential image of the modern day globe trotting, private jet owning pastor and ‘man of God’

Chris Oyakihlome

Chris Oyakhilome is the founding pastor of the Believers’ Loveworld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, a Christian ministry headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. His ministry runs several arms which includes a Healing School, Publishing arm (which publishes widely distributed publications like Rhapsody of Realities).

His empire include media and publishing outfits like Loveworld TV and an ultra modern printing company in Lagos, a record label, hotels and extensive real estate.

Wole Oladiyun

Pastor Wole Oladiyun is a popular Lagos Pastor and the founder of wave-making Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry popularly known as CLAM. While it is claimed he has businesses set up before going on ministerial training Pastor Wole owns a private school in Lagos, has extensive real estate investments, farm, an event centre among other investments. He is easily worth a few million dollars.

Early this year he was rumoured to be close to completing a N500 million hospital in his headquarters in Lagos.

Matthew Ashimolowo

Pastor Ashimolowo converted to Christianity from Islam at the age of 22 after the death of his father before enrolling with a Bible school. He is the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre.

Pastor Matthew is reported to have an annual salary of $200,000 at his Kingsway International Christian Centre. Today, his Kingsway International Christian Center is reportedly the largest Pentecostal church in the whole of the United Kingdom. His wealth comes from various business interests which includes a media company.

SportsThe Business Of Football: How The Nigerian Football League Can Spin Money by Papilo87(op): 5:33pm On Oct 18, 2016
This extensive feature is first published on Nairabrains.

Pull up a chair and grab a drink.

This article on how the Nigerian football authorities and indeed all stakeholders can help create a professional league that spins money, attracts top footballers from all over Africa and beyond, builds huge followership amongst sports loving Nigerians has been long in the making for over a year now. I had to summon the will to complete the entire write-up.

To create a successful football league one need not look further from the prime example of the English Premier League and one or two other European countries. Lessons also can even be taken from the resurgent Brazilian league that has witnessed the return of big name non-brazilian players (such as new AC milan manager Seerdof) towards the end of their career.

The Legal and Organisational Framework

To grow a league that pulls in billions and has high standards it has to begin with the organisational framework. Issues like minimum requirements for owning a club, minimum standards for running club finance etc are key to building a solid base for a thriving local league. For instance it is a long held view by many followers of the local football league that government should never have any business running football clubs. It is a view I strongly support. Governments getting involved in club management will always mean clubs and the league will be subject to political whims and caprices. The framework may allow government bodies to own a certain limit of a football club if need be but for a thriving league we should be looking at a completely independent league organising body with participating clubs as either limited corporations or publicly traded entities.

Sponsorships

A good starting point is to realise that with a population of over 140 million the first audience to optimise and monetise from is the local football fans in Nigeria. Leagues like the Brazilian league do not have much export value in terms of TV viewership and revenue but makes up for that with their huge population of which a high percentage are football followers.

Same could be the case in Nigeria as it will be foolhardy to expect to build outright a league that will be exportable to the outside world economically. Since charity begins from home it therefore makes sense to organise the league in such a way to maximise the inherent commercial values in our large population. After that a modest target could be exporting commercially to West Africa and other parts of Africa.

Thus broadcast rights should be focused on being driven by the aim to maximise local audience which leads us to other important areas that will ensure this happens like; security, broadcast timing etc

With some effort to combat these challenges a good number of historical clubs like Rangers International, Shooting Stars, and recently successful ones like Enyimba FC can hope to revive strong local followership which local companies can as well try to tap into via moderate commercial sponsorships.

The goal for the league organisers should be to put in place legal frameworks to enable clubs earn reasonable income via sponsorships, advertisements and share of endorsement deals of its players by corporate brands. (more on this later on concrete ways clubs can earn very decent annual income)

Nigerian league and clubs may not ever be able to match the kind of revenue pulled in by the top leagues around Europe however they can start to be run as effectively for profit organisations with clear corporate structures and business models.

Minimum Quality Requirements

Helping the clubs; minimum requirements to play in the top tier professional league

To start with let’s say we have a league management body that recognises the importance of developing the league in phases with quick and strong implementation processes the aim should be to first lay down a pragmatic framework that will above all try to institute the right infrastructure. This will however come after totally overhauling the legal and organisational structure requirements for clubs wishing to compete in the premier/professional and lower leagues (More on this in the legal and structure part of this series)

A minimum requirement should be put in place as part of a 10 year development plan for the league. In this a strong requirement infrastructure wise will be for football clubs to have standard, world acceptable stadia where there home matches will be prosecuted. Said stadia should be either grass or a mix of artificial and grass turf in line with FIFA’s highest standards for football pitches, complete with all the basic maintenance structures such as pitch drainage, sprinkling, ambulance/emergency facilities etc. To this end the League body shall commit to share with all clubs in the league and indeed any new club that gains promotion to the top 2 tiers a certain percentage of all league sponsorship and TV deals it signs with corporate sponsors. The League body, as a corporate entity might even consider issuing bonds in the financial markets to raise funds to fast-track its 10 year development plan with full knowledge that strong implementation of the plan will yield a lucrative league that will find no difficulty paying back its investors.

With strict adherence rules to ensure benefiting clubs have all needed stadia and corporate infrastructure at least within 3 years of receiving the first annual development funding from the league body minimum expectations and strict penalties for default must be made into law governing all clubs participating in the league;

– international level stadium (two clubs in the same city can team up to develop and equally own a stadia as is the case in some european leagues)
– club training facilities and operational offices (ideally not more than a certain distance from their proposed stadium). This can be where the club’ entire administrative and operational offices is situated.

It is worthy to note that having the stadium can avail the club of immediate commercial opportunities as the club’s official stores for sale of shirts, memorabilia and in-store player shirt signings can be part of the stadium complex as we have in most stadiums as well as a decent number of shops and stores to be leased out by the club.

RomanceAre Couples Who Drink Together Happier Than Those That Don’t? by Papilo87(op): 1:07pm On Jul 26, 2016
Culled from babiesmata.com

Generally we can agree that most people will rather drink with friends than drink alone. But then what role does drinking either alone or with your bae/boo play in your relationship?

To understand how our drinking habits affect our relationships, researchers interviewed over 2,700 married couples about their alcohol consumption. Each person answered questions about how often they and their partner drank, and how critical, demanding, or irritating they felt their partner was in general.

The study, as reported by Women’s Health found that couples who had similar drinking habits and drank together were more likely to be happy than couples who reported one person regularly drinking while the other remained sober.

In relationships where one partner drank while the other abstained, the couple was more likely to experience issues—especially over time and particularly when it was the wife who drank while the husband abstained.

Does the quantity each person takes matter in the relationship?

Family7 Lies We Believe As Moms From Dates To Diapers by Papilo87(op): 12:15pm On Jun 19, 2016
As first published on Babiesmata.com - a blog about babies and parenting

As moms, we tend to hold ourselves to a pretty high standard. If we are completely honest, we expect too much of ourselves as we constantly believe the lies that we are told about having to be perfect, make our kids our whole world, and forsake all other parts of life because you became a mom.

I can assure you that there are some lies we believe that prevent us from being the best mom we can be. I’d like to try to help you realize that these lies only hold us back; they prevent us from being all that we need to be to raise well-rounded and happy children, without driving ourself insane.

Don’t listen to these lies. Instead, embrace the truth.

Lie – My world has to revolve around my kids.

Truth – It doesn’t have to. It really is okay to let your little one skip a nap, so you can meet your sister and nephews at the park. It’s okay to have a few friends over after your babies are in bed, even if y’all aren’t quiet. (Yes, it really IS okay if you aren’t tiptoeing around when he’s sleeping.) Junior will get used to the noise or minor disruption in his schedule. I promise. You, sweet mama, can still have a life. A life that is only more full with your children in it.

Lie – There is never any time for me.

Truth – You must MAKE time for you. Even when your babies are teeny. I know, new moms, you don’t believe me, but Junior really will be okay if you swaddle him and place him in the bassinet just outside of your bathroom door. Take that long, hot shower and shave your legs. Or, pour yourself a cup of coffee and spend some alone time with the Lord. Junior can’t go anywhere and it really is okay if he whimpers for a few minutes before you tend to him. You MUST take time for yourself each day, at the beginning, without guilt.

As baby gets older, have a trusted friend or family member tend to Junior for a few hours each week. Meet a friend for coffee, have a dinner date with your husband, get your nails done!

Lie – I can’t have real friends.

Truth – Friendships seem to change as you start a family, but just because you have babies doesn’t mean you need to give up on friendships. Being a mom doesn’t mean you can’t have friends; it just means your friendships change.

Lie – Imperfection is not an option.

Truth – No one is expected to be perfect, so stop expecting yourself to be. Moms get frustrated and yell. We forget to pick up our kids on time from soccer practice. We let crumbs stay on the floor and clean laundry in the washer for hours, sometimes days. We all have shortcomings. What’s most important is how you deal with those shortcomings. Apologize, make plans to be better, move on, and try. Do your best, but don’t beat yourself up.

CrimeFather Serially Rapes 12 Year Old Girl, Gets Her Pregnant by Papilo87(op): 1:09pm On Apr 06, 2016
Source

12 year old girl from Immringi community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has exposed her father of incestuous relationship with her. Bamekpa a middle aged man allegedly started having forceful sex with the girl at the age of 11. The girl was said to have taken in, before the father reportedly aborted the four-month-old pregnancy that is now threatening her life.

Relatives of the accused are not surprised as they have reported that Bamekpe had a history of incestuous behaviour. He was alleged to have slept with his biological sisters, while also having carnal knowledge of his cousin’s daughter who he allegedly forced to commit abortion five times.

In the case of his daughter, hell was let loose when the victim ran away from home to seek help from her uncle, one David Apigi, following her deteriorating health condition as a result of complications from the abortion. She was suffering from incessant bleeding from her private part and a lot of pain.

This was poor girl’s narration of her ordeal…
“There was nobody to help me. He (father) kept doing it despite my efforts to stop him. It was a painful and violent experience. I ran away from home because there was a time I bled so much from my private part. When I became pregnant and he heard about it, he handed me over to a lady doctor who took me through an unsuccessful process of abortion. I have been suffering series of health issues since after the abortion.”

Information we got from a reliable source says that Peter Okoye, who apparently, is the architect of the ongoing rift is still adamant on the break up of P-square. As things stand, according to our source, the rift cannot be settled and things are set to escalate quickly immediately they come back to Nigeria from the show they went to perform in the Netherlands.

Our source is confident that within a couple of weeks, if nothing is done, Peter on one hand, Jude and Paul on the other hand, will hold seperate press conferences or press statements formally announcing the demise of P-square.

Our source, who by the way is in the know, is very sure people will be surprised at what will unfold. The rift is too much now to be mended, he said.
CrimeRe: Yunusa Dahiru Stil In Detention After Court Granted Him Bail by Papilo87(m): 4:18pm On Mar 27, 2016
londonrivals:
The alleged abductor of Bayelsa girl, Ese Oruru, Yunusa Dahiru is yet to meet his bail conditions despite a Federal High Court in Bayelsa State granting him bail. His lawyer has also explained the reason his client is still in prison, stressing that the bail conditions are a bit tough. Speaking on why Yunusa has remained in Okaka Prisons, Bayelsa, the lawyer said;

“As of this moment, Yunusa has not met the bail conditions. We are having difficulties because of the conditions imposed. The judge demanded for civil servants and a traditional title holder who must be resident of the state. Most of them who are likely to have that are indigenes.

“However, most of the indigenes are biased against our client. So, it is difficult. Maybe this coming week, we are hopeful. There are some people we are talking to. Some of them too, who are ready to stand surety for our client do not have tax clearance certificates. So, a lot of things are militating against us.”

PoliticsCheck Out These Cool Whatsapp Tricks (part 1) by Papilo87(op): 4:50pm On Nov 25, 2015
WhatsApp is a platform that allows everyone that have your digits stored in their Phones to automatically see you on their WhatsApp Contacts. This is the reason you receive broadcast messages from ordinary/unsaved numbers, they have you on their list.

It is even more annoying when people who you do not want to chat with keep flooding your notifications with new chats or when people add you to groups that you can not remove yourself from hence, you wake up to 200 new messages. You do not need to block anyone again because it is rude no matter how you try not to give a hoot about how they feel by your action. Also, do not ignore chats too.

Well, there are other better ways to shrug off these stalkers:

1. Block: Of course Block if you do not really care, Exit the group if no one will notice or Mute group if too important to go. Even an official group, the best time to exit is during a heated chat or midnight. No one will notice.

2. Delete the Chat: Do not open by clicking on the person’s name because it will maximize and return feedback as double marks with green(represent when your messages are delivered, and confirm that they have been read). All you need to do is press and hold the person’s name till it shows you a Menu, scroll down to ‘Delete Chat’ and click on delete chat. The Chat disappears and the sender will still be seeing a double mark but neutral colour not green because you did not open the chat.

The Sender will logically think you have not handled your phone in days, weeks, months and not had time to view them as well.

3. Use a Private Number or Number not known to many people for WhatsApp and Chat up only people you want to say hello to. Using this method, you become your own WhatsApp Boss.

PoliticsAPC Senators Resist Plan To Invite Buhari To Explain Reasons For Fuel Scarcity by Papilo87(op): 2:59pm On Nov 25, 2015
Yesterday, efforts by PDP senators to convince the Senate to summon Pres. Buhari, who doubles as the petroleum minister, to give reasons for the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country, were frustrated by APC senators.

The PDP senators, who berated Buhari’s handling of the current economic situation in the country, insisted that he be made to a appear before the Senate to give explanations on the cause of the fuel scarcity and how he intended to solve the issue.

The Senate President however put it up for a voice vote and the APC Senators, who were more in number, won. Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Aliyu Sabi, explained that as the C-in-C, it was wrong to summon Buhari. He said, instead, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu would be summoned to brief the Senate on plans put in place by the FG to end the fuel scarcity.
