My Love with the O.A.U team.
We should not negate the term "Decamp". Be that as it may, looking at the current maturity rate of our Democracy, it is imperative to forestall the freedom of movement whether by choice of self interest or in just for the favour of the masses at heart because it is a major tool for Political development and Maturity as it reflects to the constitution as stated by the speaker and also in line with freedom of movement. To throw a lime at its freshness, the current political exercise by pdpians into APC does not necessarily mean they are recognised for sensitive offices.
Change is d only constant thing, it is needed to move forward.
you meant freedom of peaceful assembly and association as against that of movement I suppose.

Danjuma Joseph, nice attempt but here are some flaws you made;

1. 'that corruption has been imputed to many members' - Apart from the fact that you got the spelling of the word, 'inputted' wrong, how does it sound to your hearing that an abstract term is 'INPUTTED' into a living being? Same mistake your co-debater made by saying 'pressure was APPLIED on someone'. Do you guys cross-check your work at all?

2. 'this act has brought about instability in the government of a GIVEN COUNTRY'.
Why use the word in cap when your audience are aware of the country you're talking about. And to say 'it has brought' ending it with 'a given country' shows that you still have small challenges with structuring Written English.

3. 'Individuals, who have FORECASTED ABOUT their defeat, decamp to another party'. You actually meant to write, 'Individuals who foresee their defeat decamp to another party'. Isn't it?

4. 'politicians who decamped from one party to another are highly TEMPTED to exhibit what I call nepotism and chauvinism'.
What/who is tempting them? One thing you guys should understand is that debate is not about writing jargons but communicating in the right language to the primary consumers which is the audience.

GOOD LUCK

nice one sir. But 'impute' exists as a verb which he used quite correctly in his write-up.

In my opinion, decamping is a good omen to the pursuit of good governance. Even though, 60% of the defection as exhibited by our politicians are politically motivated as against the primacy of national interest and public good.

Reducing the humongous size from Nigeria as a whole to Oyo State, I would like to analyse the basic intent of most Nigerian politicians.

The downfall of People's Democratic Party (PDP) is conspicuous in Oyo state than anywhere else. At first, the party lost one of its big men in Sen. Adewolu Rasheed Oladoja, a politician widely loved by the civil servants of the state. Why did he decamp? Politics.

Few years after his defection, clash of interests ensued as there was not one thing like a modus vivendi among members of the party. The modus operandi has turned something else. I want this and you want it- both of us can't have it at the same time. Even though the question of why you want it more than I do can better be left. This was showcased by Sen. Teslim Folarin, Dr. Alao Akala and the youths' favourite, Engr. Seyi Makinde. Disgruntled members of the party left solely because they weren't granted the governorship ticket, hence their defection, leaving Teslim Folarin an empty and deserted house to lead in PDP in Oyo state.

Quite often, the decisions of politicians' defection are selfishly and politically inclined which is dangerous to our pursuit of good governance. Mere defection implies change of party but not change of character.

I would like to stand aside at this point and read from panoply of views held by fellow Nairalanders.

ON THE PRESENTER FROM ABU

Without a scintilla of doubt, I see your use of English as the best so far. I monitored your tenses carefully. But then, don't 'call decamping as political prostitution,' 'see decamping as political prostitution' or 'call it political prostitution'.

Also, mind the typographical error that shaped the destiny of 'his' to 'hid'. Do not limit the potential of your work by the use of acronym. How do you expect someone reading from India or Spain to know what LP or PDP is? Write in full. You are no local champion. You erred on the part of punctuation too e.g Also the people... It should be 'also, the people...'

Drop that habit of humming! You are not a bird. What is 'hmmmm' in a formal writing? I love the Sahara desert analogy. I give it to you dear.

Let me stop here for others to comment.

My alma mater, The Polytechnic, Ibadan did well in how the points were relayed albeit much emphasis wasn't laid on birth-control which is the main essence of legalising abortion. Kudos to you though.

EducationRe: LASU Vs IBADAN POLY : Nairaland Interschool Debate: WINNER: IBADAN POLY by papindinho(m):
Legalisation of Abortion can be somewhat of a birth control measure. You know, several highly populated states are poverty ridden and teeming teenage pregnancy has contributed to the immense increase in births. No wonder USA, China and India among other states subscribe to this position.

Moreso, given the fact that every person is expected to enjoy some measures of independence over their life as enshrined in the grund-num, I think it's high time every person is allowed to decide whether to born the baby or tuck it away.

Researches have shown that teenage pregnancy has contributed to increase in crime rate. As most criminals are products of unwanted pregnancy. Most of these children of circumstances are deprived of adequate care, proper upbringing and other basic necessities that make a proper upbringing.

A brief walk into the path of history exposed that legalisation of abortion only came into broadlight in 1973 in USA. Prior to that time, around 30 states had prohibited abortion as against the stand of the other twenty.

Abortion in India is legalised for only twenty weeks old pregnancy.

If China and India, two of the most populated countries in the universe can adopt this posture, the question for Nigeria, Africa's most populated country is - why not?

Fattbabakay: I see you.

And the last Local Government elections in most of the Nigerian states dates back to 2003.

Autonomy keeps evading local government system in Nigeria and we clasmour for development which ought to be a bottom-up process and not the other way round.

EducationRe: What's The Funniest Thing You've Experienced Inside An Examination Hall? by papindinho(m): 2:11pm On Apr 23, 2015
Back then in The Polytechnic, Ibadan, it was the first semester exam and psychology was the course. My department (public administration) was mixed with another one, I think Purchasing and Supply who were writing another course entirely. In the course of writing the exam, I let-out a sound fart and the lady seated beside "shivered". I felt like, it's normal to fart na then I let-out the second one which met her anger as she cried out to the invigilator who quizzed her. She reported that I had been suffocating her with fart. The invigilator asked me what happened and I said, it happened as it happened sir, I farted. The whole hall burst into laughter....lol.

how I go explain am now papindinho abeg come helep me o

Just the normal teasing ni
Morning everybody.

That's its synonym in blank term.

You can also see aro as an act perpetuated by OAU students to tease or arouse some kinds of funny reaction from an intended subject.

The funniest thing is, the subject is often oblivious of the act until at a later state when all has gone gong-ho in terms of laughter.

The subject mostly can be, a fresher, ladies/girls (passing through Awo), an hostile student, over-sabi student and name it.

Don't worry, you just have to take things easy here and don't be too serious in your relationship with people.

Imagine searching for your new bucket in the morning as you wish to get prepared for class and quizzing your roomie or neighbour, only to be told 'oh! I saw it o'. Yea, when it was heading to Lagere.....lol
or, oh! Wait, I saw it where, where, where, wait.....lol. (wait till forever)

or you wanna take a selfie and handed your phone to a passer-by. Omo, you go pose for 10mins with no picture taken..

chaii, thats bad news mehn! foodstuffs arent safe...
I hate rats.
the blocks will be soon fumigated cause the population of the rats is overwhelming.

Let me hint you on some things you need most while coming down here.Just endeavour to come with:

i) Mosquito net (spread it on your first day bro to avoid stories that touch)

ii) at least two buckets: there is incessant raid and struggle for buckets. Don't be surprised if one of the two gets 'borrowed'. If you're lucky enough, you would find it in block 6..lol. And you can just inscribe your name or nick on them

iii) padlocks for your small cupboard and wardrobe: although ETF is the safest of all the halls in term of security but security starts with the self.

iv) any disinfectant to scare away rodents e.g "kafra" or what is it called.

V) don't forget keg(s) for storage purpose even though you can be 99% assured of water here.

Vi) stove (optional): all thanks cause that's my saviour as there's been power outage since yesterday morning and man pikin gasto survive...lol.

All the best bro.

Please advice me on what to do. I'm getting frustrated here. I've paid since Tuesday and it has not been confirmed yet. I went back to the bank this morning and they told been that my payment has been processed immediately on Tuesday. I've called all the hotlines on the portal to no avail. It's either switched off, not reachable or not picked. What could be wrong? What should i do? Advise please...
NOTE: I paid the extra charges on a different deposit slip as i was asked to do at the bank...
I would advise that you plead with the teller that they help you contact whomever is at OAU confirming the payments.

Best of luck bro

You said other fees are optional in one of your posts, what about departmental/faculty fees, aside from the one calculated to the school fees,is hostel due also voluntary?
hostel due is very much mandatory sir as well as departmental/faculty fees.

Moreso, some students may so wish not to stay on campus thereby leaving bed space unrequested.

You have 3 options if it's WASSCE result

1) Original CERTIFICATE

2) Statement of result

3) Print out

I think the first one is what OAU really wants but a lot of students do not have access to that until much later. I used my statement of result because I schooled in Jos and I can't go there now to get the first one. I think they will also accept the third if you don't have any of the first two. I'm not 100% sure though.
Print-out is 100% acceptable sir.

what are the odds of being given ETF hall?
welcome to the hall of prestige and dignity.

The basic odds are:

i) you get to struggle for a seat to watch any football match as the small common room is always inundated with crowds. Mind you, ETF is more or less an extension of Awo Hall according to history.

ii) You get to wake up to the noise of the chirping birds

iii) You get to struggle your way out through the tiny path between ETF and Awo hall.

iv) You get to literally curse the butteries that stay locked for as long as they deem fit before opening

v) You get to play football on a coarse field that is capable of redesigning the 'natural lines' on your feet.
