akpomeme: Here is my gnuts on this. Dangote first of all is a capitalist man, secondly, the number of dangote truck accidents in the last one year during the trial period of using graduates as drivers is so huge that it eclipses the economic benefit.
Making management decisions in a business is an ongoing effect, thus if the company realised that it's initiative to empower young graduates through driving hasn't worked, it is only wise to count your losses on time and move on.

I find it disgusting that a graduate will complain after receiving free training in driving and management then gets fired. Why can't he think of being a dangote!!! You have the skills now and can look elsewhere to consolidate and do something tangible with your life when you are able to acquire one truck. Smh!!!

Don't mind d Igbo, larger parcentage of d graduate drivers are Igbo, even among those converted are Igbos. Wat realy pissed d company off is that while ppl applied for d conversion, they abandone d driving attachment training, many don't even show up for months unless there is an emergency, dis mak som ppl report to d Director dat dis ppl are collecting salaries without doing anything, so dey called for driving test, and all of them failed d test, so they use that as a yardstick, d management have their lapses, but d Graduate drivers gave them a loophole. @ OP just 4 of d 16 converted graduates are Hausa, 5 muslims and 11 Christians, abi I lie? So wats d point of making it look like its a tribal / religious issue?

D OP is just trying to ganner symphaty by adding d bigotic comment, I hav 2 friends among them, one sacked and one converted, before I comment here, I make sure I get full detail from them,16 graduates are converted and not 6 as indicated by OP among those converted, are 4 Hausa(one already sacked),4 Igbo, 4 Yoruba, others are 1 Igala,2 Ebira and 1 minority tribe. Among d 16, 11 are Christians, while 5 are Muslims. Those sacked recently comprises of Hausa,Yoruba and Igbo, both Muslims and Xtians. So y go tribal ma brother just do d needfull as educated ppl.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has nabbed a 34-year-old housewife, Ngozi Nsofor, for attempting to export 195 grammes of heroin to her husband in Liberia.

The drug which was allegedly concealed in the false bottom of a bag of female artificial hair was intercepted on Tuesday during a search of luggage to Monrovia via an Arik flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The mother of five, who feigned ignorance of how the illegal substance found its way to her bag, claimed the bag was sent to her by her husband.

She said, “My husband called me from Liberia, where he lives, that somebody will give me a bag. He told me to buy female artificial hair, put in the bag and send it back to him.

“I bought the hair attachment as instructed by my husband. This is not my first time of sending goods to my husband. Unfortunately, heroin was discovered in the bag during a search by officers at the airport. I was shocked at the discovery. I ought to be preparing for my New Year celebration back home, but I am here writing a statement”.

NDLEA Lagos Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said, “The artificial hair was a distraction because the heroin was industrially concealed in a false bottom of the bag. It took the experience of the officers to have detected the drug. Preliminary investigation indicates that it is a family business. The suspect will soon be charged to court”.

Speaking in the same vein, Chairman of the NDLEA, Mr. Ahmadu Giade, described the development as sad.

He said, “It is sad that a married couple can be involved in drug trafficking. What legacy are they bequeathing to their children? Parents must live by example because they have a responsibility to inculcate discipline in their children. Efforts are ongoing to determine the role of the husband in this matter”.

A self-styled pastor was paraded along with 15 other suspects for allegedly printing and circulating fake naira notes.

Mr. Mike Fubara, the State Director of State Security Service (SSS) in Kogi, paraded the suspects, revealed that six of them are Pastor Godson Akubuiro’s children.

49-year-old Pastor Akubuiro, who was born in Imo State, is the General Overseer of The Mountain of Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry, also known as Land of Solution, located at Plot 7, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos from where he and other suspects were arrested.

The SSS boss said the investigation started four months ago due to “worrisome fake naira currency in circulation in Kogi State”.

The breakthrough in the operation happened when the SSS traced and arrested the 16-man syndicate led by Rev. Godson O. Akubuiro.

Items recovered from the suspects include equipment and materials used in printing fake currencies, a large quantity of printed fake notes, cut to size blank currency notes and N1.3 million fake naira notes.

There were also photocopier machines and different colours of oil paints.

Pastor Akubuiro, admitted the crime before reporters, said he was “an ordained man of God” until the devil overwhelmed him.

He further narrated that the criminal activity started in November 2012 in his house, along with his family members.

Pastor Akubuiro also added he was not using the money for himself, but in support of the less-privileged and the needy in his congregation.

He pleaded for leniency, saying men of God were often tempted like King David in the Bible, who though a man after God’s heart, fell many times yet was pardoned by God.

SSS urged the public to be wary of the fake naira notes in circulation and report suspects to security agents.

For having carnal knowledge of his 17 year old daughter simply identified as Favour and impregnating her thrice, 37-year old Augustine Obodeke has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command.

The final straw that broke the proverbial Camel’s back came for Obodeke when his daughter became pregnant the third time and was unwilling to go for abortion; a development which reportedly led the girl to cry out to neighbours, who then reported the matter to the Ugbowo Police Station in Benin City.

Following the report, the police promptly arrested Obodeke and he is currently cooling his heels in detention.

Recounting her ordeal, Favour said her father started having carnal knowledge of her shortly after the death of her mother.

“He first impregnated me and we went for abortion. My father impregnated me the second time and I went for another abortion. He had arranged a doctor at Uselu who has been doing the abortion.

“My father impregnated me the third time and told me that we should go for another abortion but I ran out of the house. He then threatened to deal with me if I told anybody what has been happening between us.

“I have to cry out early in the morning which prompted our neighbours to intervene. Since my mother was late, anytime my father requested for s*x, I felt I had no choice than to allow him have s*x with me”, Favour explained.

In his own account, Obodeke affirmed that he had been sleeping with his teenage daughter and had impregnated her three times but lamented nobody ever told him it was an abominable act. He also attributed his action to the death of his wife and his inability to remarry.

“It is true that I have been having s*x with my own daughter. When she became pregnant the first time, I took her to one of my doctors at Uselu Quarters who terminated the pregnancy. I impregnated her the second time and I took her to the same doctor who terminated the pregnancy again. It was when I impregnated her the third time that she refused to follow me to the doctor for the abortion.

“I decided to be having s*x with my daughter because my wife is late and I have not remarried. I decided to enjoy my own daughter by having s*x with her. I want my daughter to forgive me because I have sinned against her. Nobody told me that what I was doing to my daughter was an abomination. I thought I was enjoying the s*x with my daughter”, he said

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, who confirmed the incident, said that Obodeke was arrested on November 22, 2013. He also noted that the doctor who performed the abortions on Favour was still at large but expressed optimism that he would be arrested soon.

He, however, assured that the suspect [Obodeke] would soon be charged to court to face the consequence of his action.

Since the player shot into limelight, his father and the agent in particular have displayed their hunger for money at the expense of the boy’s career which should be uppermost in their mind.

The young lad announced his arrival at the world stage the moment he netted four goals past Iraq in his match at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE last August. He ended up becoming the Most Valuable Player of the competition as well as the second highest goal scorer. Kelechi and his team-mates from the beginning of the competition to the end stunned the world with their mastery of the game making Nigerians to now see them as the future backbones of the new Eagles Stephen Keshi was helping to mould.

This prompted the NFF and the sports minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi announce that the boys would be groomed to becoming great materials for the senior national team by ensuring they don’t jump into wrong hands masquerading as agents of clubs around the world. However, signs that some parents of the players would mislead the boys because of their greed came to the fore in a hilarious chat the NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari and the sports minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi had with one of the parents which veteran sports journalist and CAF/FIFA match commissioner, Paul Bassey published in his column recently.

Every plea to the parent that his child would be guided to stardom so that the money he is earnestly yearning for will roll in effortlessly fell on deaf ears as he was interested in how much the various governments, local, State and Federal as well as companies and individuals were ready to splash on the players, because as he claimed, he spent a fortune preparing his son to be the good player he turned out to be for the benefit of the country. Then came the supposed ‘scramble’ for Kelechi and the swiftness with which his father turned a football coach, agent and manager. It is not on record that he had ever done those jobs to be an expert in offering a positive advice to his son.

Those who should know, from Kelechi’s coaches like Nduka Ugbade and Emmanuel Amuneke and ex player of note, Victor Ikpeba, advised that the boy should not be rushed into Europe, especially to Manchester City football club but allowed to hone his skills in lesser clubs in either Belgium or Holland and the senior Iheanacho and the agent would have none of it.

Keshi magnanimously invited Iheanacho and two of his team-mates, goalkeeper Dele Alampasu and Taiwo Awoniyi into the Super Eagles Team B preparing for the CAF African Nations Championship, CHAN holding in South Africa in January and they were already warming their way into Keshi’s with their mature display at training. Suddenly this desperate agent sauntered into the Eagles camp to ask for the release of the football prodigy, a request Keshi turned down but the agent’s accomplice, Kelechi’s father, we were told, put a call to Keshi, ordering him to release his son to the agent. And Keshi did.

Today, the desperation to get Kelechi fast-tracked into Manchester City is gradually turning sour in their mouth. First the news came that Man City wanted to send him to an Academy it is affiliated to in Ghana, a decision most Nigerian fans frowned at, asking if the England club has no Academy of its own in Manchester. Then came another clause attached to the whole arrangement. That is the club would not release any dime to Kelechi, his father nor the agent until the boy turns a full adult as the laws of England does not allow an under-17 to be paid salary, I guess.

This is reported not to have gone down well with the senior Iheanacho and the agent who feel that they can’t afford to wait until late 2014 or early 2015 to start earning the big bucks, from the sweat of the innocent player, whose career is seriously being threatened now by the desperation of two adults. I ask, why would Kelechi’s father want to collect some percentage from the contract? As father of the player, will he not get a piece of the boy’s earnings when it eventually start rolling in?

He should have learnt from the parents of other young players who became bread winners of their families after they hit it big in Europe by taking their time to grow. The list of desperate young players who wanted to run before they walk is too long to be put down here and their experience should have guided Kelechi’s agent and his father to be patient as the reward would surely come.

They should also have allowed Kelechi to participate in the CHAN were he would most probably have put up a display that will help raise his profile more because clubs would see that he could also make an impact in a senior team. But as it is now, if misses the Man City deal, can Keshi still accommodate him in his CHAN plans? I doubt. It is still not too late for them to have a change of heart and listen to Amuneke, Ikpeba, Maigari, the sports minister and our own Paul Bassey who at various times offered a piece of advice.

If Nwankwo Kanu, Wilson Oruma, Jonathan Akpoborie, Joseph Yobo, Mikel Obi as well as a host of others had been too desperate to run to big clubs because of fat bucks, may be they would have been gnashing their teeth like a whole lot of others now stranded in Europe playing Sunday-Sunday street football or washing dishes in some obscure restaurants and too ashamed to return home. So be wise Kelechi, talk to your father and his agent friend.

A 22-year-old man is behind bars after he allegedly killed a 5-month-old baby for crying during a football game.

Tre’viance Markese Walker of Oklahoma is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend’s son, who has been identified only as “J.B.”

An affidavit states that J.B. died of head injuries he received on December 7 under Walker’s care at the man’s home in Norman. Walker allegedly told police that he was watching at the University of Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State football game on TV when J.B. started crying, and Walker responded by picking up the infant so aggressively that J.B.’s head “snapped back.”

Then, officials say, Walker gripped the back of J.B.’s head before dropping him from a height of two feet, according to Fox 25.

Hours later, J.B. was found unresponsive in his playpen, News 9 reported. He had head trauma and blood in his ear.

Walker told police that he did not touch the baby, but later confessed.

According to neighbor Jimmy Shannon, Walker was frustrated because he lost $200 on the game.

“The baby wouldn’t stop crying so he went, allegedly, and picked up the baby with such force as to snap the baby’s neck,” Shannon told the station.
