What ate you saying?? The Nigeria Army did not lose soldiers?? That's why it's called a war, you can't determine the extend of damage once started.

If u must blame anyone, you blame the Igbos for starting what they can't finish.

The civil war originated from when Ibos initiated a coup where the killed Yoruba and Hausa leaders and did not kill a single Ibo leader. Without this, there wouldn't have been a war. Wars are easy to start but difficult to end.

And now today, okoros are beating the drum for another war because their son giringory lost an election fair and sqaure. He was not even 2nd, he was a distant 3rd. I'm glad because they cannot start this war outside of the south east. So, the military will just go to alaibo and crush the insurrection.

That's right, they forget easily...

I’m actually a history student , and I do understand exactly what’s going from both sides, this is not my first time trying to converse with Igbo people , though the ones I spoke to are far more reasonable than the ones I’m speaking to here

Then why did u assert they evil was done against them??

They killed revered leaders from other regions, and set us on this part, each region would have make significant progress by now.

First of all, Tinubu did not win. He stole someone's victory.

Second, inductive reasoning is bad. Any Igbo who condemns the entire Yoruba is stupid, likewise any Yoruba that condemns the entire Igbo.

If Tinubu did not win, who win then?? Be realistic PLS, how did u even expect Obi to even come 2nd?? I predicted 3rd him, and that's what is it.

My name is Ayomide ,obviously a Yoruba man. I’m a Christian and I have no political affiliation. This should not be important to clarify but that’s the current state of the country nowadays. I’ve spent most of life in the southwest , so my opinion will be shaped only by what I’ve experienced in the southwest alone.

I’m utterly disgusted and disappointed with the current state of affairs in our country today. How did we get it so wrong ? We’ve decided to pick sides and fight each other based on affiliations that mean nothing in the greater scheme of things for politicians that look at us as statistics and not people.

I supported Peter Obi because I wanted a breathe of fresh air , because Tinubu is obviously too old and physically unfit to withstand the rigors of being president. I’m not sure he can steer us in the right path in this ever evolving world as befits a country as great as Nigeria. He obviously belongs to an older generation and he doesn’t seem to have the capabilities to “converse” ( for the lack of a befitting word )with other world leaders of the world. That is my personal opinion that I’m entitled to, my constitutional right. I did not vote Obi because I’m Igbo or because I’m a Christian.

But Tinubu has won.

I’ll say this to the Igbos that are justifiably angry and bitter and have been insulting Yorubas ( I know a lot of Igbo people that have not insulted anyone and they have my respect and thanks and such people is exempt from this) , They are bad , tribalistic people in all tribes. Painting us all with the same brush will only create enemies where they was previously none.

I’m Yoruba. And when you attack the Yoruba tribe as a whole , you attack me as well and my natural inclination is to pick a side. Let this narrative that all Yoruba hate all Igbo die and let us all move on from this. Old people fight is not young people fight. Why are we inheriting our grandfathers beef ? The people that did evil against the Igbos are long dead and facing their judgement. This generation is meant to be different. Let it be so and let us have one Nigeria instead of a divided one
Peace

Ayomide, note that no people did evil against the Igbos, they did evil to the rest of Nigeria, and turned back to play the victim card.

You may need to read up some history... The West, and North should be hangry, but they be all moved on, and forgive the Igbos, but ironically it's the Igbos still holding grudges.

They always cry that Dangote don't invest in the East, they forgot how many of his trucks theyburnt down.

As it stand Dangote cement driver don't go to South East at all because they are being targeted.

When the Igbos start treating other Nigerians the way other Nigerians treat them in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja etc, Peole will start investing there.

Nice one. Let it be on record that the Yorubas divided Nigeria. The most tribalistic people in the world are the Yorubas.
The same people who cry when they face racism overseas are supporting tribalism.
What a tribe!
Imagine if the Northerners were attacking those who were voting for their drug lord of a son.

I think that position goes to the Igbos followed by the Yorubas...

The first incident in which the murder of Igbo ethnic people took place in Nigeria was in Jos on 22 June 1945. Hundreds of Igbos were murdered by the Hausa-Fulani during the pogrom and tens of thousands of pounds sterling worth of their property either looted or destroyed.

Keep telling yourself that if it make u feel better.... Even the Wikipedia you quoted never made mention of any pogrom before the 1966 coup.

You can never rewrite history, the 1966 coup remain the bain of the problems we facing today as a nation.

I will be drinking Chapman and waiting

If u like drink Burukutu.... The first coup is January 15th 1966, it's after the coup the Igbos trooped to the street of North mocking the Northerners, that's what led to the Pogrom.

They printed Balewa's pictures everywhere and use it to mock the Hausas in their own land.. I wonder if they even think at all because they got exactly what they asked for if not less.

Butterflies thinking they were eagles.

Exactly, their is also a Song released by Rex Laurence mocking the Northerners, as well as a bread labeled to show how Nzeogwu killed Sardauna.

Yet they are the ones playing the victim card.

Read and learn don't allow gossips becloud your thinking.

1966 anti-Igbo pogrom

The 1966 anti-Igbo pogrom was a series of massacres committed against Igbo people and other people of southern Nigerian origin living in northern Nigeria starting in May 1966 and reaching a peak after 29 September 1966.

Between 8,000 and 30,000 Igbos and easterners have been estimated to have been killed. A further 1 million Igbos fled the Northern Region into the East. In response to the killings some northerners were massacred in Port Harcourt and other eastern cities.

These events led to the secession of the eastern Nigerian region and the declaration of the Republic of Biafra, which ultimately led to the Nigeria-Biafra war.

The events took place in the context of military coups d'etat and in the prelude to the Nigerian Civil War.

The immediate precursor to the massacres was the January 1966 Nigerian coup d'etat led mostly by young Igbo officers.

Most of the politicians and senior army officers killed by them were northerners because Northerners were the majority in Nigeria's government,

including Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello the Sardauna of Sokoto.

Even though you copies tour write-up verbatim from Wikipedia, why did you skipped the January 1966 Tribal Coup, and the jubilation, and mockery of the Northerners that led to the pogrom ??

The Igbos started all that is happening today.

Politics / Re: What Really Played Out In Lagos Today by Paretomaster1(m): 6:04am On Mar 19, 2023
NapoleonHill:
The influence and meddling of the Igbos in SW politics has returned Sanwo Olu as governor. It also got sympathy votes for Tinubu in some quarters among the Yorubas.

What makes it worse is, many of the Yoruba who pushed the Obi narrative could not bear a Chinedu administration in Lagos. We all know he has more leaning towards the Igbo tribe than the Yoruba.

To make matters worse, this accidental opportunist of a governorship candidate cannot compose a simple sentence in yoruba without sounding like a toddler who's learning to speak, even if it means rehearsing it a million times.

The Igbos, who had thought the presidential election result in Lagos was their doing alone, soon realised there's a missing piece this time. This election is different and the environment is hostile.

If you're still wondering what the missing piece is, it's simple and clear. The Yorubas withdrew their support.
.

I am not Igbo, but that not true, how many YORUBA usually vote??

If it's all about the Yoruba, then why intimidating Voters?? Allow everyone vote na.

Anyway the Igbo brought that upon themselves, the years of spreading hate, and making enemies outta other tribes paid off for them.

The Only reason Obi lost is because he couldn't get votes from the core North, and that's what work for Tinubu.

It's high time the Igbos start making amends, and embrace other Nigerians the way they were embraced outside Alaigbo.

If the Igbos have not spent years persecuting the Northerners, Obi would have cruise to victory easily.
