That giant thing is played out, nobody gives a hoot. Besides some other countries had already recalled their ambassadors before now.

We should all realise that our giant of Africa title came about as a result of our large population. It's the British that lumped these many ethnic groups into one nation - we didn't achieve it by ourselves. That's hardly something to beat one's chest about in today's world.
Hope somebody is listening to you brother.

Just negodu nkapi.

You are just one sad, jealous and poisonous fellow who can't seem to come to terms with the fact that Nigeria has the BIGGEST economy in the whole of Africa.

Generator fumes or no generator fumes, we are still the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Development or no development, we are still the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Poverty or no poverty, we are still the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Emigration or no emigration we are still the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Unemployment or no unemployment, we are still the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Boko Haram or no Boko Haram we remain the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Now what does that tell you Mr jealous, envious, vile, frustrated south african?

We Nigerians are resilient, prosperous, hardworking and a country of over achievers.

Even with infrastructures and working systems built in place and handed down to you lazy black south africans on a platter or gold, you managed to run it down.
At the moment in Johannesburg, there are power cuts, water scarcity and yet these things were working before the white men gave it to you.

We Nigerians have built everything we own, survive with our shortages and have gone as far as OVERTAKING South Africa as the BIGGEST economy in Africa.

Are you not ought to bow your heads in shame? We have so little but we made so much out of it.

All i can say to you, Mr jealous, vile, venomous south african is to deal with the fact that Nigeria has the BIGGEST economy in Africa and will remain so for a verrrrry long time. Worse still you can choke on your hate and envy.
I will not envy any country anywhere that claims to be largest economy yet everything else negate that assertion.

Get stuff to work first....then you can sing largest economy all day long...nobody will bother you about it.

You do not know what you are talking about. You have no idea at all.

The powercuts you are talking about are called load shedding and happening right across the country as per Eskoms schedule. They are temporary. Eskom is busy maintain and refurbishing their plants. Soon, 2,brand new power stations totalling 9600MW built by the black government will be thrown into the system and the power "cuts" you gloating won't be remembered.

Now onto something else. You know nothing about SA's infrastructure. When your beloved white people built that infrastructure it was meant only for the minority back then....no wonder some of it is not coping today.

Having said that....the black government has been embarking in various projects of infrastructure expansion to cover the majority of the people....difficult task but things are happening.

I would not beef your country.. Things are far better infrastructure wise than most ,if not all African Countries save EYGPT/LIBYA/MOROCCO before the stives and problems in the fist two countries.. But it is sad that BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS fail to admit that it was not a sole achievement of the blacks.. The WHITES SET THAT TEMPLATE...Coming to a Nigerian forum and beating your chest about a stolen achievement that is already on its way southwards is the way to go...NOT!

Furthermore, you know what is happening in your country at least now...The ZULUS with their cheerleader (ZUMA) are using their POMS POMS quite well.. Smiling to the bank, defrauding tax payers...refusing to take responsibility/ ESKOM/LOAD SHEDDING... I think you should sit back and do some reflection...Right before your eyes the greed of your Zulu people is killing the country and you guys back it anyways....You would soon be where Nigeria is...PETROL FUMES GENERATOR/BLACKOUTS...WELCOME TO THE AFRICAN REALITY BROTHERS FROM THE SOUTH... grin cheesy tongue
I hope we not gonna get to that stage....with the strong opposition in parliament and as vigilant as the SAn public is....I hope we will not get to that bad state of affairs.

Yes a lot is wrong at the moment but there things being done to turn things around....when Eskom is done with their plant maintains and refurbishment projects and the 2 new power plants completed and commissioned....load shedding will be history.

With Zuma pressurised to pay back the Nkandla money I am sure the signal is strong enough that has been sent that the SAn public will not tolerate looting of state coffers....

@Thandolwethu

All I can see here are excuses for being lazy. You people attack successful people out of envy not because they're foreigners. The real reason for this attacks is because you believe foreigners are fukcing your ladies.

You see, your reasoning is very archaic and backward. Where were you xenophobes when fellow Africans were fighting for your freedom from apartheid?.

You see, the truth is you black South African are very lazy, that's why white people were able to rule your nation up to the 90's when the rest of African nations were freed since the 50's and 60's. Are you black South Africans waiting for white people to give you jobs?. Are you waiting for Nigerian to give you job?. Are you waiting on foreigners to give you job?.

What is wrong is a Somalian owning a shop is every street in South Africa?. Why not open your own shop instead of complaining?. Or, may be travel to Somalia and open your own shops in every street over there.

Foreigners have rights to do business in South Africa, same way South Africans have rights to do business in Nigeria.

You even attack innocent fellow South Africans. Was Lucky Dube a criminal?. He was killed because he was ridding a nice car, nothing more than than.
Lucky Dube was killed by foreign criminals.

Thank you.

You see...you don't want to even understand what caused the problem in the first place...you logged in just to howl, insult, swear etc

That's another big issue here. People's attitudes. You do the same even in foreign lands. Be careful.

By the way I do not support the attacks / killings. So we have to be clear on that.

There is a deeper problem here which unfortunately by your swearing and insulting you will not understand.

Thank you.

so the whole xenophobic thing boils down to a battle of economic and political supremacy between SA and Nigeria?Maybe if we had put the $64bn we spent of fighting apartheid in our economy maybe we would have been a developed country.
No, this was just an off shoot from the op's post.

To be totally honest with u....in my view the violence mostly has been caused by the bad behaviour of some of the foreigners and not any other thing....

Because believe me there are some very badly behaved foreigners here...and unfortunately so many Nigerians are rated amongst those with bad conduct but they are not hated.

Just now as I type this I was speaking to a Nigerian guy who owns a salon and convenience shop in Nelspruit and one Mozambican who owns a successful driving school. I relate very well with these guys and so does a lot of other people.

But truth is there are so many others who spoil things for the rest of the guys with their bad behaviour. May be the Nigerian community leadership in SA should hold workshops and drill it in to the rotten potatoes that they are messing things for the good guys...its either they behave or go back home.

As for the Somalis and Ethiopians with tuck shops in every street corner of every village and township...they must also rember they are in a foreign land....we do buy stuff from them to show our support.... But they have this mentality that without them we can't breathe. They can't afford that attitude in a foreign land....worse they even shoot and kill locals for something as petty as stealing a few chocolate bars....local shop owners don't do that.

Mostly the behaviour of the foreigners is the main problem..... Mozambicans kill our farmers, what's that?

I read this write up objectively and i came to the following conclusions;
1. Truth: yes it is true that the media really over blew the stories of the attach. But I think the media was really trying to create an image of why the act in itself must be vehemently castigated so that such will never happen again.
2. The writer ought to have first apologised of the crime done and not portray an unrepentant view.
3. The writer is wrong to compare terrorism with xenophobia.
4. The writer though accepting that they have there own problems failed to take responsibility of the state of their citizens inherent attitude to work and personal development.
I live in South Africa and I really know what it is for a foreigner to open an account in south Africa not to talk of getting a job. Frankly speaking South Africa has made laws such that it is impossible for foreigners to come and get jobs but foreigners have been very entrepreneurial and this is their crime.
You started right but almost messed it up at the end....still I think this is one of the better inputs to the topic at hand.

Thank u.

Would somebody please stop with this number one economy / biggest economy hogwash please.....based on what really?

How can a country be biggest economy in the continent but yet so rundown? I don't understand it.

Please man everybody stop this biggest economy thing....if that were true there would not be long ques all the time at your visa offices people applying to migrate....no man.

It is not helping anything this foolish status. Get things to work first thereafyer you can label yourselves big.

For instance...when SA was still referred to as the biggest, you were not gonna argue differently because everything confirmed it...and still confirms it.....things ought to work first before calling yourself big this big that.

Thandolwethu thanks for the letter. Hope you are not amazed of the reaction from your post. Some of us have been long enough now on this forum to have anticipated this kind of reaction. You have explained it nicely and cleanly so.

Over last couple of days I have been constantly saying that this matter of foreigners in SA is a very complex one...it's not every Tom Dick and Harry that will have a proper understanding of this subject.

Some issues are too complex for certain minds to understand. I wish, sincerely so, that such individuals should refrain from commenting about such matters. The fact that one can login to a discussion forum on the internet doesn't mean they have to contribute to all topics raised. No wonder the insults etc.

Due to the volatility of the situation, a lot more people could have died....so we applaud the way the security forces and the government acted - to swiftly quench the flames. 7 people are dead, but could have been worse. I am talking first hand information here. Not something that is overhyped by media houses.

Utter rubbish. You put up a bunch of words together as intelligently as you possibly could and yet, it still reads as utter rubbish.

So because we are fighting Boko Haram, we should shut up about our African brothers being killed, injured, maimed and displaced?

And to your other point about MTN and Shoprite, if you haven't heard, Nigeria brings in about 40% of profits for both entities and while I would never advocate any form of violence but the power of economic boycott would have an impact on both entities. And for the record, the same crimes you accuse other Africans of, MTN and Shoprite are guilty of. They have poor staffing practices, cheat Nigerians of our hard earned money and don't build capacity of our people.

Finally, lol at Shoprite and MTN hiring millions of Nigerians...you might as well have said billions now...donkey
What are you upto , really? You are saying nothing. Jeez.

The funny thing is the police and authorities are watching and doing nothing, but if Nigerians fight back they would probably get arrested for attacking back. Shame.

Here in the UK I see many white south Africans have left the cou try working here and many in Australia as well leaving the country to the blacks who seem to be bent on destroying
Your firs statement about our government and police is not true. The president has been addressing this matter in parliament, tv interviews and actually engaging with the displaced foreigners personally. A rally was held at the Durban stadium on Monday....everybody who is authority spoke strongly against xenophobic attacks / killings.....therefore this nullifies your statement as hot air.

You also spoke about our police. Except for 1 or 2 cases....our police service personnel have worked very hard to maintain peace and order. Even the army, SANDF, has for the last 3days been involved in various places around Durban and Joburg. This also nullifies your assertion about our police as hot air.

For your own sake....do not believe everything the white people you will see loitering about in London, Toronto, Sydney etc badmouthing SA and all that...yes the country has got challenges but it still functions just so fine. The black government is trying their best....new roads being built, new powerplants, new universities, new railwaylines etc....the country has got challenges but functions just so fine...

In actual fact if the white people want to leave...they can just do so with great pleasure and stop badmouthing our country....we have got enough bad publicity already we dont need them adding to that....but you free if you want to believe them it's your choice.
