Your responses are too disjointed. First you said Saha relegated Nistelrooy to the midfield and bench.

Now you said Saha returned from injury in Novenber 2005 to be first choice striker. So how come he was only featured in 12 starts and 7 subs?

I will find time to xray 2005/2006 season for you. It will take time but I can make it if i am determined. Look at how I have given you a line up. I can give you all Saha matches,even all matches that season. The line up above suggests Rooney was in the wing.

However, during the course of arguments more facts will be coming out. I submitted an article on this thread where it was stated categorically that Rooney was played dominantly in the wing in 2004/2005, 2005/2006. He played more in one of those seasons, but I cant remember vividly which. The article was very specific with details.

* In all your argument, you have not mentioned such strikers as Alan Smith and Luiz Saha in 2005/6. Smith had 15(6) matches while Saha had (12/7) matches.

* iN 2006/7 we brought Henrik Larsson on loan for two and a half months.

Your assumption that whenever Park and Giggs played that they were in the wing is wrong. Park had many games in three man midfield. I am sure same can be said of Giggs.

it depends on d season u r talking about ,if u r talking about d 2007/2008 season ,den I can confidently tell u dat giggs/Nani n sm times park plied dia trade on d left wing ,in '09 Ryan giggs was our primary left winger alongside Nani who switched to right whenever c.baba was suspended or injured ...in 2010 we had Nani n Valencia as wingers ,in 11 d same ,when Valencia was injured ,Nani switched to d right n giggs/park played on d left(park played in d midfield on occasions not always) ,in '12 we had young n Valencia/Nani ...

He was mostly in the wings in difficult matches, particularly in UCL. For instance, in 2008 he was in the wing in Rome.

In 2009, he was in the wing against Arsenal to track Theo Walcott. In the final against Barca he was in the wing. In 2011 he had a run of matches in the wing. In 2012/13 he was played in the wing in some matches, not just against Madrid.

* His time in the wing dates back to 2005.

please, let's not argue over what isn't - rooney isn't a winger. his pace back in the days helped him to do a decent job there - he cannot cope there now that he's lost some yards of pace. i'd rather have bebe on the flank than rooney.

In d 2007/2008 season ,we had d likes of ji-sung-park ,Ryan giggs(he never played in midfield until in 09 when he began to tire n SAF thought it wise to utilize his experience in midfield) n Nani lining up on d left wing while d Rooney/Tevez combo terrorized opponents dat season ,I remember a commentator calling dat partnership d deadliest in Europe dat time ,den cr7 had d right wing all to himself n whenever he was injured or suspended, Nani moved to d right so I don't get where u got d idea dat Rooney lined up regularly on d left wing during dat season
