Webmasters › Help Please! - Migrating High Ranking Http Site To Https - Nagging Issues by paschu(op): 10:33am On Mar 10, 2017*

So I moved my one year old http wordpress site to a new host yesterday and deployed an SSL certificate on the new enviroment.

The issues now are:

1) the site is accessible on both https and http. I do not want this due to the "duplicate content" issue that it raises. I want ALL my http traffict redirected to the appropriate https destination SEAMLESSLY.

2) First, both the http and https versions of the site are rendering perfectly on Chrome (the https version comes out complete with green padlock). But the same https version gets completely broken on IE and FF. I don't know why.

Second the https version seems to load the mobile view of the site even on PC when viewed on IE and FF (the site is on responsive design).

Third both IE and FF brings up the "not fully secure" warning. They claim that some elements on the site (like images etc) are not secure - that's saying they are not on https. (But, as mentioned earlier, this issue no longer appears when you access the https version on Chrome. In fact Chrome fully labels the site as "secure" totally with the green bar (on PC) and padlock (on mobile).

Here are some of the steps I have taken but still could not get the issue fully resolved.

A) I installled a DB "find and replace" plugin and changed over 6000 internal urls from http to https.

B) I tried to enforce site-wide https protocol on the .htaccess file but got the site broken each time (As in, I got a white page with internal server error (500) message. The message says it's showing up due to "server misconfiguration" wink

C) I deployed Really Simple SSL plugin (which I do not want) but still could not get the issue fixed.

D) I already changed the wordpress url settings to https BEFORE installing the SSL plugin.

So guys, does anyone have an idea how I can get this issue resolved?

As stated above, here's what I want to achieve.

1) Enforce seamless site-wide https starndard ( having each http traffic redirected to the matching https url automatically).

2) Eliminate mixed content warnings and get the https site to render perfectly and responsively on ALL browsers (IE and FF inclusive).

NOTES:

1) The wp-admin section of the site is already https enforced on wp-configure file without issues - at least on Chrome (not yet tested on other browsers).

2) My new host don't seem to want to get their hands dirty in getting the job done. Just kept dishing out one brief instruction after the other. None gets into the heart of the matter.

Please decent helps and ideas are highly appreciated in advance.

Is it proper to share the actual structural drawing and location on a public forum? I think that's grossly insensitive and a serious abuse of trust. Exception is unless you actually own the building and don't plan to sell it.

OP you forgot to add the fact that WikiLeaks came under attack immediayely after that release. The Facebook and periscope video used by the founder to push the release was under attack. And it seems their entire systems too are under siege as we speak. grin

The #MAGA folks are already hinting about public revolt.

The swamp seems to be speeding towards getting drained indeed.

But how much was destroyed in the Eastern Nigeria between 1967 and 1970?

Can it be quantified in dollars?

Has anybody ever cared to figure out the rate of damages (regardless of how unquantifiable) unleashed on that region within those 3 long and dark years?

When will the 3 Rs of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation finally be implemented in that region?

It was a good speech written by good speech writers and delivered by Trump. All American Presidents give good speeches on the State Of The Union addresses. To start with, the gentleman did not lie to the congress as you are trying to insinuate. I made that point very clear in my earlier post.

Secondly, Flynn was not asked to resign because of the media blackmail.

Trump simply asked Flynn to resign because Flynn's brief to VP Pence was incomprehensive which misled the VP to make wrong public comments in Flynn's defence.

In fact I watched Trump's press briefing after Flynn's resignation where he made it clear that he had no issues with whom Flynn met with while doing his job. Basically, Trump said he would have adviced Flynn to make those contacts if not that Flynn had not already made them.

So making the contact was not the issue. The issue was that Flynn did not give certain details to the VP. (Though that was an omission which Flynn claimed was a mistake. Albeit, he still had to resign because it was not smart to embarass the master).

But,.Sessions? Nah!

The dude is here to stay for a very loooong time.

He actually has a shipload of Obama mess to undo. grin

That question there was NOT about meeting a Russian govt official. The question was if such a meeting was held in respect to the 2016 election..

It's dumb to think that it's a big deal for someone in Sessions' standing to meet with any US resident diplomat from Russia (or any other country for that matter).

But I got it, the low life who was making that connection probably thought that Sessions was a low life too. Dumb skulls.

There were NO "underlining issues" anywhere.

PDP was ONE solid party until Sherrif (aided by the governors) came onboard as the chairman ILLEGALLY.

So the issue is that Sherrif has flouted and broken the agrement he had with the governors on which basis he was brought in as an "interim" chairman.

Unfortunately the governors did not realize that Sherrif had an alterior motive. His plan all the while was to indefinitely prolong his grip on the power hierachy in order to hijack the party framework and machineries. But he has failed.

The governors have realized their mistakes.

Now Sherrif should obey Goodluck and do the needful.

For goodness sake, the people in PDP DO NOT WANT SHERRIF.

He should resign the heck out of the office since like last year if he still has any iota of diginity in him.

It is however overtly & covertly simplistic.
The underlining issue causing the ripples must be looked into and resolved to get a permanent solution.
Asking the governors to takeover leadership or to nominate another leader without doing the above is likely to create a third leg to the problem.
The emergence of both Sheriff and Makarfi is at the whims and caprices or the same governors, led by Wike and Fayose.

The governors are the only neutral authority qaulified to lead the party pending the constitution of new leadership. The BoT was against Sherrif from day one while the governors supported him. Now that Sherrif has over-stayed his welcome the governors should be allowed to do the needful.

Stop talking nonsense.

The apeal court judgement was based on the premise that there was an existing, albeit cheap, injuction (from Injustice Abang) restraining the NC from electing a new chairman. It did not in any way CONFIRM sherrif as the Chairman because he was never ELECTED as such. Plus, you should know that even the appeal court was not unanymous in sustaining Injustice Abang's cheap ruling. In fact, one member of the three-man panel of Judges ruled against Sherif.

Again, those of you castigating Jonathan's advice are just foolish.

What Jonathan did there was simply to apply the "Solomon Principle"

Thus, either of the two factional leaders who refuses to give up his party's leadership influence for the survival of the party, is authomatically showing himself as the traitor, pretender and the arch enemy of the PDP.

You guys should stop lying and twisting facts for goodness sake

Here's what happened:

1. Sherrif (without due consultation with all PDP stake holders) was APPOINTED by governors to (a) complete the term of the former chairman who was from his zone and (b) conduct a national convention within 3 months. But this appointment was severely rejected by the PDP BOT and NWC plus all the former ministers under the umbrella. They all said NO to the back-door emergence of Sherrif as PDP leader. However, the governors were gentlely hoping that Shriff would do as agreed and step down. But no way.

2.When it was time for the national convention, Sheriff REFUSED to hold it. Later he went to court to purchase a cheap injuction from Injustice Abang forbiding the PDP national convention (the highest decision making ~~body~~ forum of the party) to elect a new person into the position of chirman and some other portfolios.

Now that was silly because Sherrif was NEVER elected by the PDP Nationsl Convention. So his grip on power is actually illegal, going by the party's constitution. But here is Nigeria where court injuctions are sold a dime for a dozen. Yet docile citizens like you cheer on the madness.
