OVERCOMING TEMPTATION IN A
DELICATE MOMENT.
(Matthew 4:1-11)
Every believers must have this in mind that we
are in a delicate time, this is the most terrible
time that every child of God must be watchful.
This is the time that every child of God must be
aware of Devil's temptation of amusement , for if
the devil could tempt our Lord Jesus Christ, how
much more are we that are His followers.
Many believer today are victim of the temptation
of the Devil, they do not know how to come out,
because they are already addicted to that
particular sin that devil lure them into it.
Many do not understand the difference between
temptation and trials, some thought both of them
come from God, after falling into temptation they
put the blame on God. They would say : God why
do you allow me to fall, why do you allow me to
sin, why do you allow me to fornicate, why do you
allow me to masturbate , why do you allow me to
fight, why do you allow me to do this or do that.
Just like Adam, God asked why do you eat this
fruit, have I not told you not to touch it neither to
eat it, then he replied “God, it is the woman that
you gave me”

Blaming God or any body does not change the
fact that you have sinned, that you have defiled

Going Cashless

There is a global movement to ban the usage of paper currency. The war on cash has been waged by the mainstream media, government leaders and banking institutions. We’ve all heard propaganda that says cash is dirtied by drug dealing, terrorism, money laundering, and tax evasion.

A few days ago, Norway’s largest bank, DNB, jumped aboard the cashless society bandwagon by calling for a total end to cash. Norway has already been moved in that direction. Research polls show that only about 6 percent of Norwegians use cash on a daily basis. Several banks in Norway no longer offer cash in their branch offices.

DNB must be working for Big Brother because it cited the lack of government control as a key reason why we need to go cashless. According to the DNB bank’s executive Trond Bentestuen:

“Today, there is approximately 50 billion kroner in circulation and [the country’s central bank] Norges Bank can only account for 40 percent of its use. That means that 60 percent of money usage is outside of any control. We believe that is due to under-the-table money and laundering.”

It wasn’t long ago that the average man on the street would be upset by the news that the government had the power to track the financial transaction of all its citizens. Today, people are all too willing to give up their personal freedoms to please the government. After the Homeland Security Act allowed federal agents to snoop into our bank accounts, the stage was set for the monitoring of all financial transactions.

It is increasingly argued that high denomination notes make it easier for criminals to smuggle and hide large sums of cash. Rob Wainwright, director of Europol at a London on terrorism, said the 500-euro note, the $100 U.S. note, Switzerland’s 1,000-franc note and Britain’s 50-pound note should be eliminated to make it harder for evil doers to transfer funds.

I think the worry over large bills is a bunch of nonsense. There was a time when American banks had available $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 notes. When the $10,000 note circulated, it was worth twice the annual income of most Americans. There was no talk of it being too convenient for criminals. The concern over the higher denominations is so silly, it’s clear that some other agenda is at work.

The greatest factor that is driving the world toward a cashless monetary system is the massive debt that nations have accumulated. Fiat money is based on the endless expansion of debt. Unfortunately, there is a point where the numbers become so large they can no longer be managed. Just printing currency becomes a major problem.

The printing of money becomes very difficult when the numbers reach into the billions and trillions. Venezuela’s currency, the Bolivar, is rapidly dropping in value. To keep up with hyperinflation, President Nicolás Maduro has ordered the printing of five billion bank notes. Because the money was printed outside the country, it had to be flown in on three-dozen 747 cargo planes.

The total currency (actual cash in the form of bills and coins) in the U.S. financial system is a little over $1.36 trillion. In order for the U.S. to print $1 trillion in $100 notes, it would take 100 semi-trailers to move this amount of currency.

The U.S. debt reached the point where it doubles with each presidency. When George W. Bush entered the White House in 2001, our debt stood at $5 trillion. When President Bush left office in January of 2009, it had increased to $10 trillion. By the time Barack Obama leaves office, the Federal debt will be at $20 trillion.

If we go from $20 to $40 trillion, there wouldn’t be enough cotton in Georgia to produce the banknotes needed to manage the increase in the money supply. Since we don’t want to tempt those drug dealers and terrorists by adding zeros to our bank notes; a cashless system seems to be inevitable in the future.

Anyone who is a student of Bible prophecy should recognize that the cashless system we are moving toward is the long predicted mark of the beast. The Antichrist 666 identification is a fearful thing because all who freely take the mark will be condemned to hell, and all who reject it will be locked out of the banking system. It is my hope that the readers of this article have their trust in Jesus and are ready to escape this corrupt financial system.

“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Rev.13:16-17).

More than 2,600 years ago, the prophet Ezekiel warned of a future time when a vast coalition of nations will attack Israel. The Bible tells us the leader of this coalition is a man named Gog from the land of Magog. He’s also known as the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal (Ezekiel 38:2). When Israel is living in peace, Gog will come with a mighty army and cover the land like a cloud (Ezekiel 38:14-16).

But his plans to conquer and pillage will come to nothing. Why? Because God promises to turn these enemy invaders against each other (Ezekiel 38:21). God says the invading armies will have their weapons knocked from their hands, and they will die in open fields where they’ll become food for vultures and wild animals (Ezekiel 39:3).

In fact, the Bible says Gog’s invasion of Israel will trigger an earthquake so strong every living creature on the face of the earth will tremble in God's presence (Ezekiel 38:19-20), and He will send a torrential rain of fire, hailstones, and burning sulfur on the invading armies (Ezekiel 38:22). The end result? Total destruction of the Gog of Magog alliance. So many dead bodies will litter the landscape, it will take seven months to bury the dead – even with the help of every citizen in Israel (Ezekiel 39:12).

And believe it or not, this entire chain of events is triggered when a man named Gog sets out to plunder the nation of Israel. But who is this man – this Gog of Magog? And who are his allies?

The Nations in This Military Alliance

Ezekiel identifies the nations in the Gog of Magog alliance as “Magog, Rosh, Meschech, Tubal, Persia, Cush, Put, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah” (Ezekiel 38:1-6). I don’t blame you at all if these names don't make any sense to you.

But keep this in mind - Ezekiel named the nations of this alliance as they were known in his day, and each one represents a clearly identifiable nation currently in existence. In fact, long before Russia became a world power, biblical scholars identified Rosh as the nation of Russia and Gog as its ruler.

The identity of Gog as the ruler of Russia is confirmed when Ezekiel notes his geographic location. Ezekiel says Gog will bring his armies from “the extreme north” (Ezekiel 38:15; Ezekiel 39:2). While this might seem like a vague statement, it’s not. This statement, like most in the Old Testament, is made in reference to the nation of Israel. And it’s saying Gog will reside to the extreme north of Israel.

Draw a straight line north of Israel on any map of the Middle East, and guess what nation you'll find? That’s right – Russia. So Gog is clearly the ruler of Russia. But Gog isn’t alone. He has plenty of co-conspirators. Who are they? Below is the list of nations cited by Ezekiel. The Old Testament name is listed first, followed by its modern day equivalent:

Rosh = Russia

Magog = Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan

Persia = Iran

Cush = Sudan

Put = Libya

Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah = Turkey

The Timing of This Invasion

So when will this invasion occur? The Bible says this alliance will form and come against Israel “in the latter days” (Ezekiel 38:. So what does that mean? Well, the key word in Hebrew is “acharith” which generally translates as the “after-part, latter part, last, close, or end.” In other words, this alliance will form in the last days just prior to the return of Jesus Christ.

Ezekiel uses this same word “acharith” again, when God says He will bring the alliance against the land of Israel “in the last days” (Ezekiel 38:16). And, at the beginning of verse 8, he reveals this will happen “a long time from now” or “in the distant future.” In other words, this is not a prophecy fulfilled in Ezekiel’s day.

But that’s not all we know. Ezekiel provides us with additional clues. In fact, in the same passage cited above, God reveals precisely when this invasion will occur. In verse 12, Gog says to himself, “I will attack the once abandoned cities that are now populated with the Jews who returned from exile among the nations” (Ezekiel 38:12). Did you catch that? Gog will attack the land when it’s filled with the exiles who return from among the nations. The target of Gog’s invasion is modern day Israel.

God Himself confirms this when He says the invasion will occur “after Israel’s people have been gathered from among many nations” (Ezekiel 38:. He says it will happen “when I bring my people home from among the enemy nations” (Ezekiel 39:27). This return home from among many nations has happened only once in all of human history. And our generation is witness to that event – the 1948 gathering of the Jewish people and the restoration of Israel in the land ordained by God.

A Rising Alliance

According to Ezekiel, the target of this invasion is modern day Israel. For more than 2,500 years, the alliance of nations Ezekiel wrote about has not existed. In fact, in the history of the world, such an alliance of nations has never existed. But you know what? Today we see it coming together right in front of us. Don’t believe me? Just check your history books.

Up until March 21, 1935, the world knew the nation of Iran as Persia – the same Persia referenced in the Gog of Magog alliance. In the 2,600 years since Ezekiel recorded his prophecies, the nations of Russia and Persia have never been part of an alliance of any sort. Economic and military cooperation between them had never taken place – at least not until around 1989.

But today? Iran and Russia are strong allies. For example, in 1995 the Russian Ministry for Atomic Energy signed an agreement with Iran to finish the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Construction on the plant had come to an immediate halt after the 1979 Islamic revolution.            But today, thanks to Russia, work is once again in progress.

The two nations continue to strengthen their economic and military ties, and Russia is one of the few world powers that consistently defends the existence of Iran’s nuclear program. And as I write this article, Russian and Iranian ground troops are on the border of Israel, coordinating their military efforts in Syria.

Does any of this surprise you? Again, it shouldn’t. Because God revealed it more than 2,600 years ago.

Why This Matters

So why does this matter? Because Ezekiel said this invasion will occur in the last days, "when God brings his people home from among the nations." The Old Testament prophets directly linked the restoration of Israel and the regathering of the Jewish people with the imminent coming of the Messiah. And Ezekiel links the Gog of Magog invasion with the restoration of Israel. This means the invasion will take place sometime shortly before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In other words, the Gog of Magog invasion and the Second Coming are inextricably linked.

Never before in the history of the world has an alliance existed among the specific nations cited by Ezekiel. But today, we can clearly see the common interests shared by the nations he mentioned. Furthermore, this invasion requires a Russian-Iranian military alliance that didn’t exist until recent times. In fact, Russian-Iranian cooperation of any sort had been for the most part non-existent until 1989.

Today, Russia and Iran boast strong diplomatic, geopolitical, economic, and military ties. And as you read this, they're conducting joint military operations in a nation that borders Israel. For the first time in the 2,600 years since Ezekiel recorded his prophecy, we see signs of the Gog of Magog alliance coming together.

So what should you take from all of this? The Gog of Magog alliance is coming together in our day and time, and Jesus is coming soon!

“Judge not, that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1)

“Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:” (Luke 6:37)

“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” (John 7:24)

When society is neck deep in sin and a Christian says, “This isn’t right,” the first thing you hear from someone is, “Judge not.” One homosexual sympathizer stated the other day on a social media site, “The Bible says we are supposed to be accepting of others and understanding.”

I have heard this tripe so much it wearies me. The world loves to take the verses above out of context and use them for their defense, and totally ignore everything else. The part that really wearies me though is when I hear this from those who claim to be a Christian while defending sins that are so blatant only an idiot could miss it.

When reading Matthew 7:1, “Judge not, that ye be not judged,” has anyone taken the time to read the other verses that go along with it? Matthew 7:1 is referring to judging others with a hypocritical self-righteous attitude (read verses 2-5). In order to fulfill the commandments that follow throughout the remainder of the chapter one has to be able to judge what is holy, who are dogs, what are pearls, and who are swine.

In the sixteenth verse we read, “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Then in verses seventeen through twenty Jesus speaks of good trees, bad trees, good fruit, and bad fruit. Don’t you think there might be some “judging” going on here? Of course there is. Notice verse twenty: “Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them.”

It’s very clear to me that a Christian, when “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) is able to identify good trees from bad trees and good fruit from bad fruit. In other words, I think we can accurately identify what is sin and what is not from God’s Word.

Let take a look at the third verse above. “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” (John 7:24) I like how John MacArthur states this: “While Jesus forbade harsh, censorious judgment that self-righteous legalism promotes (Matt. 7:1), He demanded the exercise of moral and theological discernment.”

If Christians can’t make a judgment call of what is right and wrong and who is right or wrong, we are no better off than a leaf being blown around in a strong wind. This is exactly where our society is today. Nothing is wrong and nothing is right. It’s just whatever you think is okay. However, the Bible doesn’t see it that way.

Someone may think the Bible is just an old outdated story book, but in reality the Bible is the very Word of Almighty God, and what is contained therein is Truth.

The world wants no absolutes, but the Bible is absolute in everything it says. If it says that something is a sin, the discussion is over. That’s it. It’s a sin. Period.

In the following verse Jesus told his disciples to judge people based on the reception they received.

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.” (Mark 6:11)

If the word of the disciples was rejected, the people were condemned because of judgment that was pronounced against them by shaking the dust from under their feet. Whole cities were judged for refusing to hear the Truth.

The Apostle John judged those who forsook the Truth. “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” (1 John 2:19)

In this passage, he was basically saying that these people claimed to be Christians, but they were not, because they turned their back from the Truth.

I wonder how many today are claiming to be Christians but are not, and the proof is in the fact that they have turned their back from the Truth. This is something we need to get serious about. If we think we are a Christian, but we walk hand in hand with what the world is saying today, we have a serious problem. This is a problem that could have eternal consequences, and needs to be dealt with immediately.

We are now living in a society that is calling down judgment upon its own head because of sin. It says “Judge not,” yet it is bringing down judgment upon us all as a nation. Our minds are so twisted and our souls so black, I am convinced that we have gone past the point of no return. The following verse is a snapshot of our darkened souls.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21)

Jesus makes it even clearer.

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” (John 3:19-21)

This is exactly why we refuse to acknowledge our sins before God. We love the darkness and hate the light. When someone says that murdering babies is a sin, the world screams with anger. When someone says that homosexuality is a sin, the world wants to kills us. And these are only two of our blasphemies against God!

Our President, Congress, Supreme Court and lesser rulers in this country (with some exceptions) are corrupt to the bone. Many of our business leaders are corrupt. Most of Hollywood reeks. The sports world is eaten up with greed and corruption. And then there’s the religious crowd. Jesus said.

“So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16)

America’s churches (not to mention others around the world) make Jesus, God in the flesh, want to throw up. It is very difficult today to find a local church that rightly handles the Word of Truth.

The Apostle Peter said, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17)

Folks, if we don’t start making some judgment calls based on God’s Word and stand tall for the Truth, judgment is coming. We can spout off about “Judge not” all we want, but our sins are still sins and judgment is still coming. We may pollute the Gospel by saying that we are to be understanding and sympathize with sin, but that is nothing but another lie from Satan’s repertoire.

Again, Matthew 7:20 states, “Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them.” That is judging. We had better be judging, or we will be judged.

Many times when I was young I picked apples from apple trees. I learned very quickly which ones were ripe, which were spoiling, and which were just rotten. I knew which to accept and which to reject. That’s called judging. Let us become fruit pickers, not self-righteously but morally and theologically.

There cannot be true progress of a nation without genuine reconciliation, fairness, non_victimization, equality to all parties concerned. How many people are really proud to be Nigerians? According to the Koran and Hadith, Muslims are commanded to fight and slay non-believers in Jihad (holy war) unless they convert to Islam (Surahs 9:5 and 47:4; vol. 1, b. 2, Hadith # 24 and 35).



57. - Turkey (Gomer) would also join in the attack on Israel (Ezekiel 38). In 2002, Turkey elected a pro-Islamic party to govern the country. In 2005, Hitler's anti-Semitic manifesto Mein Kampf became a bestseller in Turkey. In 2007, Turkey elected an Islamist president.



58. - Ironically, Egypt and Jordan would not participate in this attack (Ezekiel 38). Interestingly, these two nations have signed recent peace treaties with Israel. Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.



59. - Birds of prey would eat the dead flesh of the enemy armies that fall in battle against Israel (Ezekiel 39:4, 17; Revelation 19:17-21). It is a little known fact that Israel is the bird migration capital of the world. During the spring and fall migrations, billions of birds fly over Israel. Many of these migratory birds are raptors, carrion (dead flesh) eating birds of prey. In fact, 34 species of raptors migrate over Israel.



60. - The Euphrates River would be dried up (Revelation 16:12). Today, the massive Ataturk Dam in Turkey, completed in 1990, can hold back the Euphrates to a trickle.



61. - Asia (the kings from the east) would be capable of deploying a 200-million-man army duringearth's final days (Revelation 9:14-16; 16:12). Bear in mind, when John penned this prophecy 2000 years ago, there were only an estimated 170 to 400 million people on the entire planet. Yet today, according to the CIA, China alone has 281 million men fit for military service!



62. - Population explosion foreseen (Revelation 7:9, 14). The apostle John, who wrote the Book of Revelation, was told the number of an army in the end times - 200 million (Revelation 9:16). This was the approximate population of the world at that time. That John also beholds a great multitude which no one could number coming out of the Great Tribulation at the end of the age (Revelation 7:9, 14), indicates an enormous number of people on planet earth in the end times.



63. - The nations would bud (Luke 21:29-32). In Scripture, the tree is often used figuratively of a nation (Ezekiel 31:3-6; Daniel 4:20-22). Since 1945, more than 80 former colonies have gained their independence. Our generation has witnessed the end of the colonial era and the budding of the nations. Remarkable!



64. - Egypt would exist in the end times - but only as a "lowly Kingdom" (Ezekiel 29:14-16). Egypt was one of the world's greatest ancient civilizations. Yet today, as prophesied, Egypt remains - but only as a third world nation - which will "never again exalt itself above the nations" (v. 15). And while God's Word foretold of the demise of many other ancient people groups and kingdoms (which have long since vanished), Egypt remains!



65. - Great earthquakes in diverse places foreseen (Luke 21:11; Isaiah 24:19-20; Revelation 6:12-14;16:18-20). Seismic activity appears to be on the rise.



66. - Marriage would be forbidden by many (1 Timothy 4:3). The Bible states that marriage is honorable among all (Hebrews 13:4). Despite this, the Catholic Church forbids their 400,000 priests, 800,000 nuns and numerous bishops, cardinals, and monks from marrying. The Orthodox Church, as well as Hindus, Buddhists, and other religious groups also impose mandatory celibacy for certain orders.



67. - Deceptive signs and wonders would abound (Matthew 7:22-23; 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9). The signs and wonders movement has swept the globe in recent years replacing the Word of God. Experiences that feed the senses in the name of Christ are drawing away millions.



68. - Men would be lovers of themselves (2 Timothy 3:1-2). This generation, like no other, regards self above all else. Self-love, self-esteem, self-reliance, self-gratification, are encouraged by the media, schools, psychologists, etc. In contrast, Jesus taught self-denial. Even many churches today preach a feel good about yourself message.



69. - Youth would become increasingly rebellious (2 Timothy 3:2-3; Mark 13:12). No comment necessary.



70. - Humanity would become increasingly materialistic and lovers of pleasure (2 Timothy 3:1-5). No generation in history has had so many means to entertain and arouse the senses. Every imaginable hedonistic pleasure is available and has become big business.



71. - Jesus said Christians would be hated for His name's sake (Luke 21:17; Revelation 6:9-11; 20:4). The banning of the Bible, prayer, the Ten Commandments, nativity scenes, Christmas songs, etc., reflects this trend. Also consider that more Christians were martyred during the past century than during all previous history.



72. - Homosexuality would be flaunted at the end of the age. Jesus warned that the last days would be like the days of Lot who lived in wicked Sodom (Luke 17:28-30). We know that the root of Sodom's sin was pride and complacency (Ezekiel 16:49) as it is today. However, Sodom's lasting infamy stemmed from their aggressive homosexual sin (Genesis 19; Jude 1:7). Today, the homosexual agenda is flaunted and forced upon our entire society.



73. - Substantial wealth and luxuries foreseen (James 5:1-3; Revelation 3:17; Revelation 18). It is interesting that 40 years ago some authorities predicted that the growing mass of humanity was so quickly depleting the world's resources, that many resources would be exhausted in a few decades. Yet today, vast material wealth and luxuries are in abundant supply just as the Bible anticipated 2000 years ago.



74. - In the end times, fallen angels would interact with mankind (1 Timothy 4:1; Luke 17:26; Genesis 6:1-4). There has been an explosion of ET/alien reports during the past 60 years. Studies indicate these entities behave more like demons than space travelers. They transcend the laws of physics, invoke fear, and deliver anti-Christian messages.



75. - Apostasy would occur just before the Antichrist is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Increasingly, experience-based "Christianity" is replacing the Bible as the standard for saving faith. The ecumenical movement is striving for unity at the expense of truth. Christ's exclusive claims are negated in the name of tolerance.



76. - There would be a move towards a one-world religion (Revelation 13:8, 12; Revelation 17). Today, as never before, we are witnessing religions joining hands in the name of peace and tolerance.



77. - Some would say that Christ is in the secret chambers or inner rooms in the last days (Matthew 24:26). According to the Catholic Church, Christ is in the inner rooms of hundreds of thousands of Catholic churches either in Eucharistic tabernacles or monstrances.



78. - Jesus also warned that this deception would be accompanied by great signs and wonders (Matthew 24:23-27). Currently, Eucharistic miracles are reported around the globe.



79. - A woman would call herself "queen" and head the global counterfeit church in the last days - proving herself an imposter (Revelation 17; 18:7). Tens of millions follow the apparition of Mary, who is regarded as the Mother of the Church, the Lady of All Nations, the Co-Redemptrix, and the Queen of Heaven and Earth.



80. - The woman would also represent a great city set on seven hills (Revelation 17:9, 18). The Queen of Heaven is considered the Mother of the Roman Catholic Church which has its headquarters (the Vatican) situated on seven hills. As the Catholic Encyclopedia states, It is within the city of Rome, called the city of seven hills, that the entire area of Vatican State proper is now confined.



81. - In the end times, this wicked woman would go out over the face of the whole earth. She would be associated with a global curse. Her final destination would be Babylon in the land of Shinar (Zechariah 5). Interestingly, the apparition of Mary claims that she will soon travel through the entire world saving those who look to her.



82. - Epidemic drug use foreseen (Revelation 9:21). The Greek word translated sorceries is pharmakeia which can also refer to drug use, both illegal drugs and mind-altering drugs. The use of illegal drugs and the dispensing of mind-altering drugs has risen sharply during our current generation.



83. - Sorceries referring to witchcraft, magic, or occult practices used to enchant and deceive are also anticipated in the end times (Revelation 9:21; 18:23; 21:8; Isaiah 47:9-15; Micah 5:10-15). Today, interest in the occult is flourishing.



84. - Preparations for a global war anticipated (Joel 3:9-14; Matthew 24:22; Revelation 16:14). Never in history have so many nations stockpiled weapons of mass destruction.



85. - Environmental devastation of the planet foreseen (Revelation 11:18). Our generation has done more to ravage the environment than any previous generation.



86. - There would be signs in the sun (Luke 21:25). In recent years there has been a massive increase in solar activity recorded. Still future paranormal events must yet occur (Revelation 13:13-14; 16:14).



87. - Many would call themselves the Christ (Matthew 24:5). Jesus was an itinerate preacher who never traveled outside the tiny nation of Israel and He had the audacity to say that many would come in His name, claiming to be the Christ. And yet today, multitudes within the New Age Movement, Eastern religions, and the cults call themselves the Christ. This is another incredible prophecy!



88. - God said that His name would be great among the nations (Malachi 1:11; Philippians 2:9-11). Jesus in Hebrew Jehoshuah - means Jehovah saves. As we begin the 3rd millennium, over two billion people profess to be Christians. Multitudes more regard Jesus as the greatest prophet and teacher ever. As foretold, no other name compares to the fame ascribed to Jesus Christ.



89. - Jesus prophesied that even after heaven and earth pass away, His words would never be forgotten (Luke 21:33). As we near the end of the age, we see that Christ's words remain as accurate, renowned, and relevant as they were 2000 years ago. Today, Bible societies alone distribute approximately 500 million Scripture portions or entire Bibles every single year.



90. - Despite the Bible's numerous warnings and last days prophecies, many people would be taken off guard when these events culminate (Luke 21:34-36; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6). Take heed to yourselves!



91. - All true followers of Christ would suddenly vanish, raptured (caught up) by God to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52). A false explanation will deceive the unsuspecting masses (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). Today many apparitions, angels, ETs, channelers, and New Agers are offering a counterfeit explanation for this soon to take place event.



92. - During the Tribulation, innumerable multitudes from every nation would wake up and turn to the true Jesus of the Bible and be saved (Revelation 7:9-17; Daniel 12:10; Zechariah 2:11). See also: Acts 2:17-21). Today, the seeds of the gospel are being spread in every nation!



93. - Many from Egypt to Assyria (Iraq and the Middle East) would call upon the name of the Lord and be saved (Isaiah 19:16-25). The Lord is currently moving mightily to save souls throughout the Middle East. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13)!



94. - Some would depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). This generation has witnessed the explosion of "heavenly visitors" and false doctrines that are embraced by professing Christians even though their messages contradict the Word of God. Channeling, witchcraft, yoga, psychics, etc., have also gained in popularity though forbidden by God (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).



95. - People would reject the sound doctrine of the Word of God and follow the doctrines of men that appeal to their own lusts (2 Timothy 4:3-4; Acts 20:29-30). Others would confess faith in Christ, but not obey His Word (Matthew 24:48-51; Matthew 7:22-23).



96. - Many would forsake the Ten Commandments as a moral code: blaspheming, committing adultery, disobeying parents, stealing, lying, coveting, etc. (Matthew 24:12; Revelation 9:21).



97. - Idolatry would be pervasive (Revelation 9:20; 13:12-15; 19:20; Micah 5:10-15; Zechariah 13:1-2). An idol is anything that competes for the attention due only to our Creator. Statues, images, charms, false gods, angels, apparitions, as well as possessions, position, pleasure, a person, self, and any created thing can all become idols (Romans 1:18-25).



98. - Blasphemy would be common (2 Timothy 3:2; Revelation 16:9, 11, 21). Consider how often people use their Creator's name (God, Lord, or Jesus Christ) as a curse word. What they have done is liken the One who is the source of every blessing (eyesight, sunsets, food, family, friends, etc.) to a four-letter curse word. Fifty years ago, Hollywood seldom used God's name in vain. Today, nearly every movie includes blasphemy.



99. - Sexual immorality would be rampant (Jude 18; Revelation 9:21). Keep in mind, Jesus said whoever looks to lust has already committed adultery in his heart (Matthew 5:28). Therefore, God equates Internet porn, lustful movies, TV shows, and magazines to fornication. The availability and consumption of sensual products has exploded in our generation.



100. - Men would sear their conscience so they could continue in sin (1 Timothy 4:2). The conscience is where God reveals right and wrong. Con means with and science means knowledge. Therefore we sin with knowledge when we ignore God's moral law and violate our own conscience.



101. - Men would mock the warning signs of the end of the age saying, These signs have always been around (2 Peter 3:3-4). The Bible even reveals their motivation - they love lust.



There are many more end times prophecies (several too detailed for this brief list). However these 101 demonstrate that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is true that some of these signs have been around for millennia, but only our generation has witnessed the coming together of every one of these events. Contrast the Bible's 100% track record with other self-proclaimed prophetic sources and there is no comparison. The false prophets typically repackage and plagiarize the Bible's prophecies for the unsuspecting masses, or they make so many vague prophecies that one is bound to be fulfilled. Nostradamus did both.

Jesus also said that some men would be gripped with fear when these signs occur (Luke 21:26), while others would look up with hopeful expectation (Luke 21:28). Which camp do you fall into? If you're fearful, there is good news and bad news. The bad news is that God will judge every man who breaks even one of His laws. Have you ever blasphemed your Creator's name, Lied (white lies and fibs count)? Stolen (cheating on a test or taxes is stealing)? Looked with lust? If you have answered yes to these questions, then by your own admission, you are a blaspheming, lying, thieving, adulterer at heart. And we have only looked at four of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20).

That's how God sees you. Keep in mind, God sees every secret sin of your past as if it just occurred. Nothing is hidden from His holy eyes. Also remember that Jesus rebuked the pious religious leaders of His day because, though they appeared good on the outside, inside they were prideful hypocrites. They were trusting in their own goodness, but the Lord saw their hearts. No matter how upright we may appear on the surface, all of us have broken God's holy commandments and need the Savior. Please listen to your conscience. You know you are guilty, and should justly end up in hell. That's not God's will. In fact, God is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The good news is that God has made a way to freely forgive us so that we may spend eternity with Him in heaven. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). God desires a loving, eternal relationship with each person free from sin, fear, and pain. Therefore, He sent His Son to die as our substitute on the cross. "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Jesus never sinned. Therefore, He alone qualified to pay the penalty for our sins on the cross. We sinned, but Jesus died in our place. He then rose from the dead defeating death. All who turn from their sins and call on His name will be saved.

If these signs alarm you, thank God, because the Lord wants to awaken you from your spiritual slumber and give you eternal life. To repent of your sins and place your trust in Jesus Christ, make Psalm 51 your prayer. Then read your Bible daily, obeying what you read. God will never let you down.

The Bible foretells many signs that would culminate in the end times. Jesus indicated these signs would arise together as His return drew near (Matthew 24:33-34). Though many of these end times prophecies won't climax until the tribulation period, our generation is the first to see every trend in place. As the final seconds of this age tick away, these end times events will come into even clearer focus. Keep in mind as you read through this list that these end times prophecies were penned 1900 to 3500 years ago! How does this relate to you? The last several pages provide the answer you need to read them carefully.



1. - False Bible teachers would bring in heresies, have many followers, and cause others to reject God's Word (2 Peter 2:1-2). It is very common today to find people who reject the Bible out of hand because they have heard it misrepresented by a false teacher.



2. - These false prophets would be money hungry, smooth talkers (2 Peter 2:3). A growing number of TV evangelists epitomize this. They twist the Scriptures, using misleading words, to make merchandise of the unwary. Apostasy is a very important sign of the end times.



3. - The Christian gospel would be preached as a witness to all nations (Matthew 24:14; Mark 13:10; Revelation 14:6). Today, portions or all of the Bible have been translated into over 2,400 languages and dialects covering over 90% of the world's population.



4. - Global communications foreseen (Revelation 11:9-10; 17:. The Bible prophesies that the entire world will see certain end times events unfold. The invention of the television and the deployment of global satellite networks during the 20th century allow news to travel the world at the speed of light for the first time ever. Remember that in the apostle John's day, news traveled at the speed of horseback.



5. - Mankind would be capable of destroying all life (Matthew 24:21-22). Consider that when Jesus made this prophecy the armaments of His day were swords and spears. But today, with nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, it is possible to wipe out all flesh on planet earth.



6. - The use of nuclear weapons anticipated (Zechariah 14:12). The neutron bomb melts (dissolves) its victims just as God warned 2500 years ago. "Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths." This was unimaginable in Zechariah's day.



7. - There would be a global cry for peace (1 Thessalonians 5:3). Never has there been such a concerted, global effort to bring about peace at any cost as there is today.



8. - The Antichrist would use (false) peace to destroy many (Daniel 8:23-25). With all the problems facing mankind, multitudes are looking for a savior to usher in peace and prosperity without moral accountability. The Antichrist will promise the world and Israel such a peace if they follow him but his intentions will be sinister.



9. - In the end times Israel would have a peace treaty in place that the Antichrist will confirm and eventually break (Daniel 9:27). Currently the world's governments are striving for an Israeli peace treaty.



10. - Damascus would be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1, 14; Jeremiah 49:23-27; Amos 1:3-5; Zechariah 9:1-. Damascus, Syria is increasingly in the news and is extremely anti-Semitic. Many terrorist organizations have their bases in Damascus. God declares that they will become a ruinous heap because they have violently taken what was not theirs. In 2007 Israel vowed to wipe Syria off the map if Syria attacked by chemical weapons.



11. - Chaotic weather would be prevalent (Luke 21:25-26). Jesus foresaw the seas and the waves roaring in the emd times. He also likened these signs to birth pangs (Matthew 24:. The Greek word odin, often translated as sorrows in Matthew 24:8, literally means birth pangs. Furthermore, the apostle Paul reminded us that the creation itself will be delivered from the curse at the end of the age (Romans 8:21). And that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs (Romans 8:22). As delivery draws near, birth pangs always increase in both intensity and frequency. Therefore, the creation itself would travail as the time of delivery draws near. Of course chaotic weather is not new, but there are indications that we are witnessing an increase in strange weather.



12. - There would be a move toward a global government (Daniel 2:40-44; 7:23; Revelation 13:7-. The former Roman Empire which encompassed present-day Europe would revive and eventually dominate the world. The European Union has steadily moved forward in its attempt to unite Europe politically and economically. It has succeeded in creating a European parliament, a court, and a common currency. And globalization is not unique to Europe, it is happening everywhere.



13. - Literal Babylon (formerly called Babel, Genesis 10:10) would reemerge in the land of Shinar known today as Iraq (Zechariah 5:11; Isaiah 13). Saddam Hussein spent over 20 years rebuilding the city of Babylon. Today, with Saddam's regime overthrown, the international community is discussing how to rebuild Iraq.



14. - The fact that God once flooded the earth (the Noahic Flood) would be denied (2 Peter 3:5-6). There is a mass of fossil evidence to prove this fact, yet it is flatly ignored by most of the scientific world because it was judgment from God on man's wickedness.



15. - Increased interest in vegetarianism anticipated (1 Timothy 4:3-4). The New Age Movement has swept the globe during the past 40 years popularizing this.



16. - Many wars would erupt (Mark 13:7-. According to Project Ploughshares, there are dozens of major armed conflicts in the world today.



17. - Ethnic conflicts would be prevalent (Mark 13:7-8; Luke 21:10). Jesus used the Greek word ethnos to describe the last days battles. Today, as never in history, we have ethnic group rising against ethnic group.



18. - The earth would be filled with violence (Luke 17:26; Genesis 6:11-13). In the United States alone, violent crime has increased nearly 500% since 1960. Fifty years ago abortion (the violent murder of an unborn child) was illegal in most countries. Today abortion is legal in most countries and 46 million children are aborted each year.



19. - Jesus foretold that there would be fearful sights (Luke 21:11). The Greek word translated fearful is phobetron, which can also be translated terror. According to the U.S. State Department, between 1981 and 2006, there were more than 38,000 international terrorist attacks.



20. - Multitudes would travel to and fro (Daniel 12:4). Prior to the Industrial Revolution, few individuals traveled beyond their own communities. Until recently, horse, foot, and boat were the only modes of transportation. Yet today we travel by car, bus, plane, train, subway, etc. Millions and millions are running to and fro just as Daniel prophesied 2500 years ago!



21. - Knowledge would increase (Daniel 12:4). Today we are witnessing an explosion of available knowledge. With the advent of the Internet, it is estimated that our cumulative knowledge is doubling every five years. This exponential increase is beyond what anyone could have imagined!



22. - Deadly diseases (which the Bible calls pestilences) would be common (Matthew 24:7; Revelation 6:. Emerging diseases such as AIDS, ebola, Hanta virus, Dengue, West Nile, SARS, bird flu, etc., underscore this fact. Ironically, just a few decades ago, some scientists were forecasting that advances in medicine might soon eradicate deadly diseases. Pestilence is a major sign of the end times.



23. - The final generation would be open to receiving a mark on their right hand or on their forehead (Revelation 13:16). Consider how the up and coming generation is tattooed, pierced and marked with all kinds of insignia. And today, for the first time in history, global tracking and marking technology is available.



24. - A global economic system would exist (Revelation 13:16-17). This was unthinkable in the apostle John's day. Yet today, globalists in every level of government are seeking to unite the world. Connecting the world monetarily is crucial to their goal.



25. - A man would control all banking and commerce (Revelation 13:16-18). Remember, this prophecy was penned 2000 years before our computer-driven society. Yet, until recently, you couldn't have even dreamed how a person could control all commerce.



26. - Famines would be common (Luke 21:11; Revelation 6:5-. According to the United Nations, an estimated 854 million people went hungry in 2006.



27. - Great signs from heaven prophesied (Luke 21:11, 26). Unexplained sightings in the sky appear to be increasing. For instance, since 1947 UFO testimonies have exploded - terrifying many. Each year thousands of unidentified aerial sightings are reported.



28. - The sun would scorch the inhabitants of the earth (Revelation 16:8-9). In recent years, solar activity has intensified markedly. Though this prophecy is clearly a divine judgment on unrepentant mankind, a compromise in the earth's atmosphere due to nuclear war or other ecological disaster could facilitate this judgment.



29. - The nation Israel would be born in one day (Isaiah 66:. On May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation.



30. - The Jews would begin to regather in Israel (Isaiah 11:11-12; Ezekiel 37:21-22; 38:8; Luke 21:29-31). Over five million Jews have returned to Israel in recent times! This is unprecedented in human history. Never has a people group been dispersed for hundreds of years to every corner of the globe, and then regathered back to their homeland. Yet, God said it and He has done it before our very eyes! This is probably the most important prophecy being fulfilled in the end times.



31. - Returning Jews would come from the north, south, east, and west (Isaiah 43:5-6; Jeremiah 31:7-10). Amazingly, nearly a million Jews have emigrated from Russia in the north. Over 100,000 Ethiopian Jews have emigrated from the south (Zephaniah 3:10). Since 1948, Jews have emigrated from Europe, Asia, the Americas, everywhere!



32. - During the diaspora (the dispersion of the Jews to the four corners of the globe), Israel would become a wasteland (Deuteronomy 29:23-28; Ezekiel 36:8-11; Ezekiel 36:33-36). During the past 1900 years Israel became a nearly uninhabited, desolate wasteland.



33. - Israel, once a desolate desert, would blossom in the end times and export produce to the world (Isaiah 27:6; 35:1-2; Ezekiel 36:34-36). Israel's increased rainfall and world-renowned irrigation technology have caused the land to blossom. Incredibly, as foretold, they currently export over 800 million dollars worth of fresh produce each year, including over 200 million in flowers and ornamental plants!



34. - Israel would prosper economically (Ezekiel 38:12-13). Amazingly, this recently regathered, often attacked, tiny nation exported over 42 billion dollars worth of goods in 2006. This was inconceivable a century ago! In contrast, their neighbor Jordan exported less than 5 billion in 2006.



35. - Israel would once again plant vineyards (Joel 3:18; Amos 9:13-15). Today, sweet wine flows from the Golan Heights and many other vineyards on the mountains of Israel.



36. - The last days Jews would plant forests of trees. The Bible even specifies the variety of trees, cedar, acacia, myrtle, oil, cypress, pine, and box (Isaiah 41:18-20). Since 1900 more than one billion trees have been planted in Israel! This has happened in our day after Israel lay barren for nearly two millennia.



37. - A pure language would be restored (Zephaniah 3:9). At the end of the 19th century the Zionist movement brought about the revival of Hebrew as a spoken language. In 1948, Hebrew became an official tongue of the state of Israel. Originally there was only one language (Genesis 11:1) and this pure speech will be restored (Isaiah 19:18). Interestingly, Hebrew has no swear words.



38. - Jerusalem would be rebuilt on its own ruins (Jeremiah 30:18; Zechariah 12:6). Since 1948, Jerusalem has been rebuilt on the old ruins exactly as foretold.



39. - Jerusalem would be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (Luke 21:24). Since 70 A.D., Jerusalem had been trampled by Gentiles until the Jews regained control of the city during the 1967 Six-Day War.



40. - Anti-Semitism worldwide anticipated (Deuteronomy 28:37; Jeremiah 29:18; 44:8; Luke 21:20-24; Revelation 12). History confirms that the Jews have been persecuted as no other people group. Hitler tried to exterminate them, and the Antichrist will attempt the same during the Tribulation. Today, anti-Semitism is a global epidemic. For example, of over 700 General Assembly resolutions passed since the establishment of the United Nations in 1945, nearly 450 condemn Israel. None have been passed against any Arab country nor any Arab terrorist organizations! In other words, out of 190 nations in the UN, over 60% of all General Assembly resolutions rebuke just one member, Israel!



41. - All surrounding nations would be united against Israel (Psalm 83:4-8; Zechariah 12:2). This hasnever happened in history. Yet today, Israel is surrounded by Muslim nations sworn to her destruction. Muhammad said: The Hour (last day) will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say 'O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.'" (Sahih Al-Bukhari, vol. 4, b. 52, Hadith # 177).



42. - Jerusalem would be a cup of trembling to all surrounding peoples (Zechariah 12:2). Jerusalem is a small city, with no natural resources, no port, insignificant manufacturing and industrial capability, yet its very existence causes the surrounding nations to shudder.



43. - Jerusalem would be a burdensome stone to all nations (Zechariah 12:3). Almost daily the world news reports on the conflict over Jerusalem. The United Nations, the Vatican, and many world leaders want to make it an international city. However, God says that the city is His and He has given it to the Jews forever (Genesis 15:18; Leviticus 25:23; 2 Chronicles 6:6). All who burden themselves with it will be "cut in pieces." Despite God's warning, UN resolution 476 flagrantly reiterates that Israel's claim to Jerusalem are null and void. As a result, most countries refuse to transfer their embassies to Jerusalem - Israel's capital.



44. - Israel would be invincible (Zechariah 12:6-9). Since 1948, tiny Israel has been attacked in three major wars and several lesser wars. Yet despite being vastly outnumbered, they have defeated all attacking foes. Even during the final battle, when it looks like Israel will be destroyed, the Lord shall deliver her (Jeremiah 30:3-7; Zechariah 14; Mark 13:14-20). An invincible Israel makes no sense unless you believe God's Word.



45. - Israel would be partitioned by all nations (Joel 3:2; Daniel 11:39). This is another unimaginable prophecy! In 1947, UN Resolution 181 planned the partitioning of Israel. Currently, the West Bank and Gaza have been seperated into Jewish and Palestinian settlements. Dividing Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria are also being negotiated today in order to create a Palestinian state.



46. - The Eastern Gate would remain closed until the Messiah returns. At Christ's Second Coming, He will enter Jerusalem through the now sealed Eastern Gate (Ezekiel 44:1-3). Today, as prophesied, the Eastern Gate remains sealed.



47. - The nation of Israel, which had been divided into two kingdoms since the time of Solomon (950B.C.) Israel in the north and Judah in the south would be one united nation in the end times (Ezekiel 37:15-22). And so it is, Israel is one nation.



48. - The returning Jews would have no king until Jesus returns (Hosea 3:4-5). As foretold, Israel has been without a king for over 2500 years. Amazingly, not only is Israel no longer a theocracy, but today the Jewish state is governed by a democracy comprised of multiple political parties.



49. - Rebuilt temple in Israel anticipated (Daniel 9:27; 12:11; Mark 13:14; 2 Thessalonians 2:4; Revelation 11:1-2). The prophet Daniel, Jesus, Paul, and John all refer to the temple in the end times. Therefore we know it must be rebuilt. Preparations by the Temple Institute are nearly complete!



50. - The temple sacrifices would be reinstituted in Israel in the end times (Daniel 9:27; 12:11). Daniel foresaw the Antichrist ending the daily sacrifices. Therefore, the Jewish sacrificial system must have first been restored in the end times. Currently, the Temple Institute has created the temple furniture, vessels, and priestly garments. There are also several hundred young Jewish men in training for the Levitical priesthood.

PREFACE
The design of this essay is to contemplate the Christian’s journey through the wilderness of this world to a better land, even the Heavenly Canaan– to point out, briefly, the way by which the Captain of our Salvation leads his followers to glory. It has been the grand object of the author to make the reader feel that he is a stranger and a pilgrim on earth– to make him realize the solemn truth, that a man’s life is vanity; that his days are as a shadow which passes away; that mutability and dissolution are the characteristics of all sublunary objects; that, “All, on earth, is shadow; all beyond is substance.”

When we look at the brevity and vanity of human life, we may well exclaim, in the beautiful and touching reflection of Edmund Burke, “What shadows we are, and what shadows we pursue!” And in the similar impressive language of Patrick Henry, “l am but a poor worm of the dust, as fleeting and unsubstantial as the shadow of the cloud that flies over the fields, and is remembered no more!” Or we may rather open the pages of Holy Writ, and say, with the wisest of men, “Vanity of vanities; all is vanity;” and with other inspired penmen, “As for man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field so he flourishes; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.” “For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.”

Amid the excitement and bustle of a busy world, it is to be feared that the Christian too often forgets his true character as a pilgrim, journeying to mansions of glory in the skies. Too apt is he to place his affections upon those terrestrial objects by which he is surrounded in his pilgrimage. How often is this the case with the young Christian, over whom the world, with its delusive pleasures, exercises such a fascinating power. The author would earnestly and affectionately entreat the young reader to pause with this solemn reflection, ‘I am but a traveler here.’ Remember that you are passing rapidly through a scene of shadows and death to a state of eternal realities. O, then, we beseech you to live, as God’s dear children, above the world, with your eye directed to that blessed home in your Heavenly Father’s House, where the wicked shall cease from troubling, and where the weary are at rest.

Should the few plain words here written be the means of inducing any to pass the time of their sojourning here in the fear of God- of persuading them to live and walk by faith in Christ– to rely, entirely, on his atoning blood for salvation– the author will desire no other reward than the happiness of knowing that he has been an humble instrument in the hand of God, for doing good.

This essay is now cast, as a mite into the treasury of Biblical literature, and commended to the blessing of Heaven. May it cheer the Christian pilgrim as he journeys through this world of sin and sorrow, and lead him to strive more earnestly for the glory, honor, and immortality of heaven– to cleave more closely to Jesus, and to labor more zealously in his cause, so that, when he comes to pass the valley of life he may enter the abodes of immortal glory, and receive the Savior’s plaudit and welcome, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” “Then the King will say to those on the right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.'” Matthew 25:34

This World a Wilderness, and the Christian a Pilgrim

For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. 1 Chron. 29:15

We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a shadow, gone so soon without a trace. 1 Chron. 29:15

Beyond this darksome valley of tears and death there lies a bright and joyous region of immortality, where weary pilgrims meet to stray no more. In that happy land their wanderings will have forever terminated, and they shall sit down in everlasting repose under the delightful shadow of the Tree of Life, in the midst of the paradise of God, and enjoy, through the blissful ages of glory, the presence and smiles of that Friend and Savior who, in the tenderest love for them, once poured out his own most precious blood on Calvary, that he might present them, faultless, before the throne of Heaven!

O how transcendently glorious must be the future eternal home of the Christian pilgrim! On those golden plains beyond the river of death, rays of divine glory are beaming in full effulgence. There, the Sun of Righteousness is shining in all his meridian splendor, making eternity one constant noontide of untold and indescribable glory and blessedness– a day without clouds. There, our Immanuel shall be as the “light of the morning when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds.”

Eternal day will dawn without a cloud. No gloom or darkness will ever overspread those blissful realms beyond the shores of time. The celestial world will always be irradiated by the glory of God and the Lamb, and the redeemed shall forever bask in the gladsome sunshine of Infinite Love. In that bright home of pilgrims, the Savior will conduct his ransomed ones to living fountains of waters– streams of immortal joys, and God shall wipe away all tears. In the presence of Jesus there is fullness of joy; at his right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has the human heart ever conceived those things which God has prepared for those who love him.

An exceeding and eternal weight of glory will crown every pilgrim who has found the happy shores of Immanuel’s Land. In the Palace of the King of kings, all will be perfectly blessed, and from that “building of God, that house not made with hands,” there shall be no more going out; but we shall forever be with the Lord, beholding his glory and enjoying the soul-ravishing manifestations of his endearing love. O, happy abode of Zion’s pilgrims! O, sweet and pleasant world, where the balmy zephyrs of Heaven refresh the weary soul; where there flows not a tear; where there enters not a pain; where death itself shall be swallowed up in victory! This is the heritage of those who fear the Lord.

But before our feet stand on the blissful shores of the heavenly Canaan, we have to pass through a WILDERNESS scene. This world is that wilderness, where Zion’s pilgrims wander until they are taken home to glory. It is a thorny pathway that leads to the realms of eternal day; but, by the grace of God, the Christian is enabled to hold on the good way with joy, until he passes through the wilderness and over Jordan, more than a conqueror through Jesus, and takes up his seraphic song of triumph amid the undying splendors of immortality.

In this little volume it is our design, as has been stated. to contemplate the Christian in his pilgrimage to the promised land- the happy home of all the true followers of Jesus. In this chapter there are two prominent ideas which recur in our mind, and which deserve our serious consideration.
First, This world is a wilderness.
Second, The Christian is a pilgrim here.

I. THIS WORLD IS A WILDERNESS
To every child of God this world, with all its conceived pleasures, is nothing but a wilderness– far from his Father’s House; far from that goodly land which he so ardently longs to see and to possess. This is the view which every saint takes of earth; and it is a just one. What the wilderness was to the children of Israel in their journey to the promised land, this decaying scene is to the believer in his progress heavenward. It is not his rest; it is not his home. On the contrary, it is a wilderness world of trouble, from which he is coming up out of, and traveling to the mansions above. The dark, rugged pathway lies through imminent dangers and difficulties, which sometimes rise like mountains before the Christian pilgrim, and threaten to retard his march to the land of immortality.

But it is a blessed consolation to know that Jesus guards the way to Mount Zion; that he will allow no evil to befall us; that even here, in this valley of tears, all things shall work together for our good. The sorrows and bereavements of life render this earth a trying wilderness world to the child of God. Here, the winds of adversity and floods of sorrow sweep along our path, making us long to reach the blissful hill Of Zion, where “no chilling blasts annoy,” where all is blooming with immortal love and peace. Here on earth, we are almost constantly distressed with difficulties, cares, pains, and griefs, which render this a weary land– “a land of deserts and of pits, a land of drought, and of the shadow of death.”

It is SIN that makes this world a wilderness to the saint. On account of the sin in his heart, he often faints, and is ready to die; he feels that this is indeed a valley of weeping, and longs to arrive at the borders of the wilderness, that he may cross into Canaan. Besides all this, he has to encounter, in his journey, violent opposition from an ungodly, persecuting world. This makes him cry out, with the Psalmist, “How I suffer among these scoundrels of Meshech! It pains me to live with these people from Kedar! I am tired of living here among people who hate peace.” In the world, there are fightings without, and fears within. How unlike this dark abode of sin and misery are those radiant mansions far beyond the starry sky! There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest.

2. THE CHRISTIAN IS A PILGRIM HERE
He has only a temporary residence in this valley of tears; his abiding home is in that world “where momentary ages are no more.” Now he is on his journey to those tearless, blissful regions where he is to spend the ceaseless, revolving ages of eternity. When the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they had no permanent residence, but were continually roving about from place to place; journeying to that goodly land which flowed with milk and honey, and which was then the glory of all lands; “For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with springs that gush forth in the valleys and hills. It is a land of wheat and barley, of grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, olives, and honey. It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking.”

So the believer is a pilgrim on earth, with no continuing city, nor certain place of abode, traveling through a dreary wilderness to that city which shines in the highest noon of glory; to that land of blessedness and immortality, where perennial streams of bliss issue from the eternal Fountain of Life to refresh the weary soul, and where we may freely eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life, in the midst of the paradise of God. How impressive is the language of Moses to Hobab, in the wilderness: “We are journeying unto the place of which the Lord said, I will give it you.” The hosts of Israel, instead of making their abode in the waste howling wilderness, were marching forward to obtain possession of that land which the Lord “swore unto their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.”

Like those ancient pilgrims, we have a promised land in view, and onward is our motto. Instead of seeking our home and our happiness in a perishing world, we are pressing on to that glorious kingdom which Jesus, in his boundless love, has gone to prepare for our reception, and which he has promised to bestow on all those who love him; for he says: “I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” And again; “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” So the Christian pilgrim, animated by such precious promises, has good hope, through grace, of gaining the happy shores of Canaan; of possessing the heavenly inheritance– of making his eternal abode in the courts of Paradise; and of sitting down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, at the banquet of redeeming love, in the kingdom of God.

With such glorious prospects in view, no wonder that he should look upon earth as a barren, homeless world; that he should feel like a stranger and sojourner in it. No wonder that he should speed his earthly flight to reach the blissful skies. We are entreated by a compassionate Savior to seek the better country. In the wilderness, the divine injunction to the children of Israel was to march forward to the land of promise land. The Lord said to Moses, “Now that you have brought these people out of Egypt, lead them to the land I solemnly promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I told them long ago that I would give this land to their descendants.”

The same solemn command, reminding us of our short pilgrimage on earth, is sounding in our ears. It is the entreating voice of the Savior, calling upon us to forsake this present evil world, and seek our portion in the fair realms of eternal day. It is a voice of compassion and love that says to us, “Arise, and depart; for this present world is not your rest. Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.” The Christian pilgrim obeys the divine injunction; sets forward on his journey; leaves the world, looks beyond this dying scene, gazes on the celestial Canaan, until its glories beam upon his soul, until he breathes the pure atmosphere of the upper world, until his ear hears the glorious melody of heaven and his eye catches a glimpse of the king in his beauty, and of the land that is afar off.

O says the weary pilgrim, as onward he journeys with his eye directed towards the heavenly Canaan. In yonder glorious world is my rest and abiding home. Yes–
“There is my house and portion fair;
My treasure and my heart are there,
And my abiding home;
For me my elder brethren stay,
And angels beckon me away,
And Jesus bids me come!”

The Christian confesses that he is a pilgrim here. All the children of Zion- all who have ever traveled to the Canaan on high, have acknowledged that they were strangers and pilgrims in this wilderness world. Of those ancient worthies who died in faith- in the bright hope of a blessed immortality beyond the darksome grave, and who are held up in the precious volume of inspiration, for our imitation in the Christian life– it is said, they “confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” To this land of shadows and of death, their views were not confined. No. They looked higher than earth. “They were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a heavenly city for them.” Of Abraham, it is said, “And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in a tent. And so did Isaac and Jacob, to whom God gave the same promise. Abraham did this because he was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.”

The earthly Canaan was but a type of the heavenly; and therefore the patriarchs, overlooking the passing scenes of a sublunary world, elevated their views to the true land of promise beyond the skies. In contemplating his present state, each child of God is ready to exclaim with the Psalmist, when addressing his Heavenly Father in earnest prayer, “Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don’t ignore my tears. For I am a stranger with you—a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before me.” His feelings with regard to earthly objects are beautifully expressed in the glowing language of the Christian poet–

“Nothing on earth I call my own;
A stranger to the world, unknown,
I all their goods despise
I trample on their whole delight,
And seek a city out of sight,
A city in the skies!
Not a foot of land do I possess;
No cottage in this wilderness:
A poor, wayfaring man;
I lodge awhile in tents below,
Or gladly wander to and fro,
Till I my Canaan gain!”

Thus the Christian pursues his journey and pitches his tent nearer and nearer Canaan, until he reaches the banks of Jordan, where some appointed herald of glory is ready to conduct his happy spirit to the bosom of Abraham- to the mansions of rest- to the paradise of God.

The believer’s life is a PROGRESSIVE one. All the true followers of Jesus are daily advancing in their journey towards the realms of peace. They go on, from strength to strength, through this wilderness scene, until every one of them appears before God in the celestial Zion. Their earnest and continued endeavors are to get nearer Heaven, to become ripe for glory; hence, forgetting the things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those which are before, they press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. They are not satisfied with their present life in the wilderness. It has but little attractions for them. They are not conformed to the world. They do not think of making their abode in this valley of weeping; but onward they travel towards the land of Canaan- that pleasant region which lies beyond the Jordan of death. Their course is upward.

“All Christians,” says the pious McCheyne, “are coming up out of the wilderness. Sabbath days are like milestones- marking our way. Every real Christian is making progress. If the sheep are on the shoulder of the shepherd, they are always getting nearer the fold. With some, the shepherd takes long steps. Dear friends, you should be advancing, getting higher, nearer to Canaan, riper for glory. In the south of Russia, the country is of vast plains, rising by steppes. Dear friends, you should get on to a higher place, up another step every Sabbath day. In traveling, you never think of making a house in the wilderness. So, dear friends, do not take up your rest here; we are journeying. Let all your endeavors be to get on in your journey.”

We would earnestly invite you, gentle reader, to accompany us in our pilgrimage to the heavenly country. We would beseech you, with the utmost compassion for your immortal soul, to forsake the path of death, and follow the way of life- the way to undying glory and felicity. In a word, we would most affectionately say to you as Moses did to Hobab, “We are on our way to the Promised Land. Come with us and we will treat you well, for the Lord has given wonderful promises to Israel!” Numbers 10:29

What we failed to know is this end time is God characteristics.
God himself created heaven for his dwelling place, and He make it full of His glory and full with the majesty of His power, and He beautify it with mysteries , for great is the unsearchable knowledge of God, and His ways past finding out.
I remember a vision I saw this year, I saw a written on a wall and this was written in Hebrew language but it says in English “HEAVEN IS GOD HEAVEN”. What’s the meaning of this ? Heaven is created by God, is beautify by God, is fashioned by God, and before the foundation of the world heaven was in existence.
Today heaven is calling your attention to its standard, do you ever desire to be with God in heaven ? HEARKEN to the standard of heaven, there is a high calling from heaven, call your attention to its doctrine, harden not your heart.
If your living in this world is just like a smoke that Lived for a while and suddenly passed away, then live for heaven in your lifestyle so that after you passed away from this world you will have a place of abode in Gods presence.
What we should know is that God hate corruption , that is why corruption can not dwell in heaven.

. WAR IN HEAVEN.
Read Isaiah 14:12-15 for better understanding about this.
In the foundation of heaven, God created angels to minister unto him with thanksgiving, but one of the cherubim called “LICIFER” which we know as satan today was highly exalted and specially created from any other angels In heaven,but iniquity and corruption was found in him, and he lure one third of powerful angels to support his evil desire to be throne or impished God, the angels whose number are like the sound of the sea.
There was a Great War in heaven because of this, because the foundation of God was founded upon holiness and righteousness, so lucifer and his gang was cast out of heaven, and because of their iniquity they have turned to horror, and they are now destiny for perdition .
There was another set of angels in heaven, who go beyond their boundary , but left their habitation, God was highly angry with them and He chain them under darkness unto the judgement of the great day. Jude 1:6.
Despite how God loved lucifer and exalted him about others angels, lucifer could see Gods glory ( how much more are you that you haven’t even see Gods glory ? ) and walk in the midst of fire that surround Gods throne, but the day iniquity was found in him God hate him and cast him out of heaven lest he polluted all angels in heaven. Ezekiel 28:13-19.
When iniquity is found in you, you won’t even be able to enter into the gate of heaven. Rev21:27

THE CALL TO SUBMISSION TO HEAVEN STANDARD.
God is calling every body to be submissive to the standard of heaven.
To be submissive means to give God your whole heart and allow him to dwell there.
Don’t allow curruption in your heart, don’t allow any affair of the world to pollute your heart and make it turn against God.1 pet 1:16.
Don’t allow corruption in your heart, for before lucifer sin became expose he first conceived it In His heart but God could be able to read him because the eyes of The Lord is able to see the invisible. Ezekiel 28::17.
So God deman holiness in your heart, for your heart is the dwelling place of God on earth, so God is angry with evil heart and hate sin of the heart, for is an embargo from entering into heaven gate. 2 pet 1:10.
So you must glorify God In your heart because God desire the truth from the inward part which is your heart, so glorify God in your heart with holiness and righteousness because God demand for this .
Therefore be submissive to this , your heart must be purge and be free from evil thought and sin , may The Lord send the fire of inward purity into your heart.
So if you want to be qualify to enter into the gate of the city, I mean glorious city of God, whose beauty can not be describe with mere word, be far from ungodly desire.
Shun ungodly desire in your heart, desire to fornicate, desire to do all manner of ungodly thing, all manner of sinful thing, desire for immorality, for all this disqualify one from entering into heaven. For the common language of the angels in heaven is holiness unto The Lord.
If you want to be qualify to enter into the city of the gate, you must not fashion your self like the people of the world, God hate earthly fashion. Fashion is talking about ungodly dressing , to dress like Jezebel , you deck your self with Gods, all part of your body is full of earrings, your dye your hair into different color , all this are fashion that never Glorify God. 1 pet 1:14.
It is the people of the world that dress to kill and seduce, why do you too that called your self CHRISTIAN sister are posses with the spirit of fashion, your skirt is fighting the ground, you put on tight skirt that shoot out your body, all this are fashions of the world, you put on transparent cloth that expose your hidden part of your body, all this does not glorify God. When a prostitute put on high heel shoe and CHRISTIAN sister did the same thing, what’s the different ? You are the same.

ESCAPING HELLFIRE FOR HEAVEN (MUST READ)!!!

In this world we are living in,there are two ways which everybody must meet either of the two in life. One of the ways is the way to live with SATAN in hell fire (proverbs 14:12;matt 7:13) and the other way is to live with GOD,JESUS THE SAINTS AND THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN. WHAT A LOVLY AND WELL PREPARED DESTINATION FOR US PLEASE DONT MISS IT!)(jn14:6;matt 7:14).

The end of the way you choose determines your eternal home either with God in Heaven or with satan in hell fire forever. It is a must that every person-man, woman and youth on earth must follow either of the ways jere.6:16.

THE IMMUTABILITY OF GOD'S WORD
I understanding that whatever God says must come to pass whether one likes it,obey his voice,judgment or neglects it (Zech.1:6; Isa. 55:10-11).He had judge the world of Noah's time after warning them and they insisted on their wicked ways. Read genesis 6:6-7,12-33;7:1,12-13;19-12.

This event took place on this earth, even researchers found out noah's Ark for a long time as evidence .God had also judge many cities in this present world such as Sodom and Gomorah(Gen.19:1-26). You may be a church goer every sunday but have you recognized that you are a sinner who needs to repent? (Romans 3:23;Luke 18:9-14). Please,humble yourself and ask for mercy. Avoid argument for God's word is unchangeable and infallible. Jesus was sent to take away your sin if you allow him to do so (Matt1.:21; Jn. 1:29). Don't make mistake others made by neglecting God's provision to escape hell fire and count God foolish and unwise (jn. 3:16). The only begotten son of God was sent to save you and I, personally and not for animals and what have you. Therefore, believe and receive the son of God in order to ESCAPE HELL FIRE and at last live with God in HEAVEN.

THINGS TO NOTE
The wicked shall be turned to hell and all the nations that forget God (psalm 9:17).. Any person that reject God's way is very WICKED!!!. And will suffer thereof for such DISOBEDIENT!!!

STEPS TO ESCAPE HELL FIRE.
As a sinner, you need to repent from the ways you've been living against God's commandments I.e making a 'U' turn (Act 3:19; 20:21).

Believe that ''GOD'' loves you and gave his ''SON'' for your Total'' freedom (jn. 3:16).
Confess that you will not perish but believe and received him and the power to be God's child indeed (jn.1:12)

Be sorry for your sins, ask for God's, mercy and welcome jesus inside your life. John 1:12. From this moment,he is the lord of your entire life. You are free from condemnation john 3:18. Don't have love for any work of darkness. Now are born again in the spirit and you are unstoppable unchangeable and unpredictable by your enemies.

FINAL DECISION
Finally, locate a church where God is served and worshiped in truth and In spirit. Continue seeking to know the truth to set you free from all satan's traps (jn. 9:31-32).

Another man was trekking across the bridge also praying for God to give okada to avoid crossing the bridge all the time, As he walked down he saw a cripple also praying for God to give him legs so that he can cross the bridge without wheelchair, As the cripple was praying he saw ambulance passing by and the person inside also praying for God to give the dead body life and take away the two legs. Topic : 6/3/2015 LATEST DIVINE REVELATION OF HEAVEN AND HELL. 1.Early in the morning after I finished vigil with few of ogc members, I had this vision.We started the vigil by 12am and finished around 4am, during the vigil all of us open up our heart to God, calling on him for mercy to raise us up from any area that we have fallen. Because the topic I taught during the vigil was “THE CHOSEN ONE”.After the vigil I attended and pray for those who came for counseling and prayer, then after every thing, all of us went to have our rest.AN ANGEL COMING FROM HEAVEN.Then early in the morning, in the vision, I saw a light coming out of Heaven, the more the light was getting closer, the more powerful it became. Then suddenly as the light was getting closer, it was full of glory, and it began to form an image of an angel of the living God.The spirit of The Lord bare witness in me that He was an angel of God, then he immediately enter my room, then my spirit left my body, and the angel took my hand and we began spiritual journey.THE WIDE GATESuddenly we got to a wide gate, where I saw multitude of people traveling through the gate.And the angel said ” They are on their way to destruction”I saw different people, both black, white, different languages, different tribes from all part of the world, the gate was broad enough to contain them.Some on that road was even speaking in tongues, and I asked the angel the reason, and he said “This are christian that profess to still be on the right way,but has fallen already, for they refuse to recognize their self where they have fallen ,their tongues is false.” Rev 2:4-5.The angel continue ‘”Many of this still indulge in sin, they commit sin in the secret and profess to be right with God , they are backslider in the heart, and they can not see God unless they repent and forsake their unclean way. Pro 6:25.Then I heard a loud voice warning those who were traveling through the road , saying ” Turn back, for the end of this road is destruction”” but no body among then took any concern about the voice warning, no body give attention to the voice and He that was speaking wept bitterly . Matthew 7:13.THE END OF THE ROAD.Then the angel showed me the end of the road, I saw a very large pit and a demon was standing on it, laughing and mocking those who were traveling through the wide road.Inside the pit I saw a fire burning and the sound of the fire was like of the sea, yet the people that were traveling through the road never give attention to it, because the road is free and there is no difficulties on it. Each person enjoy traveling there, but do not give attention to the eternal torment awaiting them.THE VOICE OF SALVATIONThen the voice screamed again ” Turn back, the end of this wide gate is eternal destruction, turn now”.Then a man stopped and fell on his knee crying for mercy, then the load on his back disappeared, because all of them carried a big load on their back, tight with them, after that the load disappeared the man vanished out of the wide road.The demon awaiting them at the end of the road became angry because the man vanished out of the road ,because he want all of the people traveling through it to ended there.CHRIST ON THE CROSSThen I saw the load of that man that vanished from his back at the feet of the cross of Jesus Christ . Eph 1:7.I saw Jesus Christ , blood was coming out of His body, He looked down from the cross and said “”I HAVE PAID IT ALL, YOUR SIN ARE FORGIVEN”. Rom 10:9-11and 13.Then I saw how people got the end of the road and fell into the pit and screamed, but it was too late for them to turned back. Yet others do not give a single attention to their screaming, for their heart is darkened and hate the way of salvation . Gal 3:1-2.Hope you are not traveling through the wide road, for the end of every evil ways is destruction.

When Will The Rapture Happen?

The Most Important Day

The most important day of your life and mine is the day of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to this earth. The Bible also refers to this as the “catching away.” The English word “rapture” is not in the King James Version Bible. However, the word is biblically accurate because “rapture” originated from the Greek word “harpazo” which is derived from the Greek New Testament manuscripts of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 and is translated “caught up,” which holds the same definition. This verse tells us that living saints will be caught up (raptured) in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. 

If We Are Born Again

The Bible teaches that a time is coming when Jesus Christ will return to the earth. We will be caught away if we are born again. If we are living for Jesus Christ at His coming, we will be caught up in the air to meet Him there, and we will be with Him forever. We will go with Him to the Battle of Armageddon. He will put down the thrones of human government. We will crown Him King of kings and Lord of lords. He will then rule the world for one thousand years, and we will rule and reign with Him as kings and priests. 

False Christs

Jesus warned His disciples that false Christs would arise in the last days and deceive many. Jesus admonished His disciples to not respond if they heard rumors that Messiah was in the desert or that He was in the secret chambers. Jesus said don’t believe it and don’t even go to investigate. He went on to explain why they should pay no attention to these false reports. He said, “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,” (Matthew 24:27). Jesus was simply saying that He would not show up secretly on earth at His Second Coming, but that He was coming like lightning in the clouds of heaven. 

A Body Like His

When Jesus comes, if our bodies are changed supernaturally from mortal to immortal, the Bible tells us that we will have a body like Jesus had after His resurrection. He could walk through walls. He was not bound by the laws of space and time as we are now. Then the Bible tells us that we will be caught up to meet Jesus Christ in the air. That means we will have passed into eternal life. The reason it will be the most important day in your life and mine is because when that event occurs, if your feet leave the ground, if you rise to meet Jesus Christ in the air, then no matter whether you have a penny in the bank, whether anybody knows your name, whether you are world famous or relatively unknown, if you are prepared for that pivotal moment that will determine your eternal destiny, your life will be a smashing success! 

Immediately After the Tribulation

Mathew 24:29-31 describes what happens after the Great Tribulation: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” You cannot read Matthew chapter 24 without concluding that Jesus Christ placed the rapture immediately after the tribulation of those days. For those who believe in a rapture that comes before the tribulation, we should look at scriptures that contain the word “tribulation.” The New Testament uses the term “tribulation” 22 times. If the rapture happens before the tribulation, shouldn’t one of those 22 passages teach us something about the rapture happening before the tribulation? The answer is, out of all 22 instances, there is no clear verse which says that the rapture happens before the tribulation. There is, however, a very clear verse which says that it happens after the tribulation. Matthew 24: 29 says, “Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days…” 

The Great Tribulation

Some would argue that although all Christians go through some tribulation, there is yet a “great tribulation” ahead which true believers will not have to endure. The phrase “great tribulation” appears first in Matthew 24:21, “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” Here the verse seems to be talking about what will happen to not only those who live in Judea, but also to the world at large, because “…except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved” Whatever the case, this “great tribulation” is also prior to the return of Christ and the rapture, because Matthew 24: 29-31 goes on to describe the immediate gathering of the elect.The other appearance of the phrase “great tribulation” occurs in the seventh chapter of Revelation. John sees a great multitude of white-robed people praising God around the throne and is told, “These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:14) They are not removed from tribulation. Rather, these believers have been protected. They have endured “the great tribulation” and have now come out of it rejoicing. Moreover, it is apparent that all of this happens prior to the return of Christ, which is not actually depicted until Revelation chapter 19. 

The First Resurrection

The term “first resurrection” is found in only one passage in the New Testament, Revelation 20:4-6: “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”Though not explicitly called “the first resurrection” in these passages, here are two other passages that speak of the event we refer to as the rapture: 

Caught Up Together

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) 

In the Twinkling of an Eye

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (1 Corinthians 15:51-54) 

The Timing

Regarding the timing of these events, 1 Thessalonians 4 says that the rapture will happen at “the coming of the Lord.”1 Corinthians 15:52 says that this will happen at “the last trump.”1 Corinthians 15:20-23 teaches that Christ is the first fruits of the resurrection…then afterward they that are His at His coming. The scriptures do not teach two comings. There will be one changing from mortal to immortal. It happens at the first resurrection as described in Revelation 20:4-6.By reading Matthew 24:22-31 we know that the elect will be present until the time that Jesus sends his angels to gather them together unto Him (the rapture). The terms “elect” and “election” are used numerous times in the New Testament in reference to the Church. According to 1 Peter 1:2, the elect have the operation of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Furthermore, Jesus promised in John 14:16 that the Comforter (the Holy Ghost) would abide in believers forever. 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 speaks of an entity that holds back the revealing of the Antichrist. Some people teach that the thing that “now letteth (restraineth)” is the presence of the Holy Spirit in the world. There is nothing in this passage that supports such an interpretation. The clue to the correct identity of this entity appears to be found in verse 6, “that he might be revealed in his time.” The thing that restrains the revealing of the Antichrist is God’s very own timeline. Just as Jesus, the true Christ, was not revealed until “the fullness of time was come” (Galatians 4:4), the false Christ, the man of sin, will not be revealed until God’s timeline dictates it. 

Success or Failure

Now even if you are the wealthiest person on earth, and perhaps everyone in the world knows your name, if you are not prepared, and your feet don’t leave the ground at the rapture, then you were an abysmal failure. You failed the one thing that is absolutely critical and mandatory in our lives. It is the most important day, because on that day, either we enter into eternal life or we don’t. 

At Any Time

Even before the rapture, God can come for any one of us at any time: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come…Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” (Matthew 24:42, 44)
