duckweed is another plant being used in feeding fish especially TILAPIA but its adaptability in feeding catfish is still being investigated. moringa oleifera leaves at 10% inclusion rate had also been investigated with promising result. Ttalk: I have been doing a lame man research because im neither a biologist nor agriculturist but have come across certain proteinous leaves that have been researched and serve as supplement to fish meal. And i have been able to come across two major and common leaves that can replace some percentage of fishmeal
1. Taro leaves [Cocoa yam leaves] Colocasia esculenta 2. Leucaena leucocephala leaf [Botanical name, dont know its English nor the local name
Taro leaves- Research has been conducted on this leaves as fish meal for pig with good result, and there seems to be futher research on its applicability in production of fish feed when formulated with other ingredient such Fishmeal 35&, Taro leave 20%,Soya bean 35%, Maize 35%, Premix and Salt. Disadvantage: It is revealed that it is antinutrient which can be removed by boiling, it equally contained more fibre and lack necessary amino acid that fishmeal contain. However, whether input of premix, and other multivitamin can replace the nutrient deficiency is yet to be determined
Leucaena Leucocephala leaf- This like taro leave can also be included in the production of fish feed because of the present of 25%crude protein. it equally has similar disadvantages as present in cocoayam leaf
Submission: I believe Cocoyam leaf especially the red type is rich in protein because some tribes do eat it as form of vegetable. However, i am still at a loss on Leucaena Leucocephala tree and want any one that is familiar with it to enlighten us

well ur market determine how u raise ur broilers, are u selling live wt. or kilo wt. whichever one it is u dont need any fattener bc it adds to cost of prodx with little or no added value. if ur birds are well fed i.e feeding ad libitum with regular supply of water, they will do well insha Allah. avoid switching from one feed to another, if vital stay with vital till slaughter, if amo stay wt amo till slaughter. ogas in the house more contributions pls. Cleoo: Please someone help me o! I have 100 broilers, 4 weeks old, they have been eating like say tomorrow no dey! I intend selling it @8 weeks, but the rate they are eating, I won't make any profit. I give them Amo starter feed. I ve been adding different types of unbranded fattner to their feed and water(the feed vendor recommended them), but am not so impressed with their size... Please what should I do to aid their growth, save cost on feed, and be able to make profit... I never knew that broilers can be this demanding and expensive(cuz I ve already lost 113 birds). I've been a mugu for these poultry feed vendors, as they keep recommending different types of drugs, and fattner. |

did u pour sand in these pressure pipes? can the pipes withstand the volume of water of this pond. is the pipe cheaper and stronger than galvanized and wood/planks. where re u located? nikaShow: Dear nairaland fish entusiasts,
I've learnt a lot from great threads like...
And I've also gone through using different fish tanks, cages, bowls and ponds...(in no particular order),
On one of my 'sojourns', I discovered this mobile fish ponds that are made from rubber, They are actually used as very large (earthen+cracked concrete )pond liners, and they are thicker (2mm) than the blue 'tapaulin' materials for the mobile fish ponds currently available in the market. The tanks can be 'stood' with materials such as wood, pressure pipes(what I use), iron rods...and can be used to line leaking concrete ponds...
Some comparative advantages this tanks have over 'others' are...
1.It is very Flexible and Pliable (you can set it up anywhere, your backyard, garage anysmall hole you have). 2.It has no reaction with water / fish (no need for 'treating or liming', just setup-wash with water and salt- stock !) 3.Long lifespan (at least 7 years, I was told by my importers(the oldest one I have is a year now and if I wash am e go be like brand new) 4.Leakproof (to tear am na war: it's rubber and not synthetic one oo, it's stronger than the blue material taupaulin mobile fish pond in the market, it's 2mm in thickness) 5.Discourages growth of algae (I've noticed even when I don't change my water on time, there's little/no algae growth on the tank-the water might be green or brown oo, but nothing go grow on the rubber). 6. It is higly mobile, it can easily enter the booth of any car if well packed. You can setit up and bring it downwithin 30 minutes.
Currently, the specs that I have available are... 7000 cubic litres (currently goes for 60k with standing accessories-pressure pipes) ...The dimensions are 14 foot long, 6 foot wide, 3 feet high. Also available are 8000 cubic litres capacity, 10000 and 12000, higher ones would have to be negotiated and discussed...

ceaser: Well NASU has not haboured the unthinkable yet, have they? Tgey have not asked to be made the VC or Head of Academic departments yet. The day they try tge unthinkable is the day they start going down like johesu. There is unity and accord between ASUU and NASU cos the later knows their work description and held onto it. That is why the interdependence and mutual respext has existed. Matter of fact, NASU rides on the providence and tenacity of ASUU when engaging the government to also get their (NASU) demands and not by saying that they want to be equalled with the former. ASUU always encourages NASU behind the scenes not to give up when engaging the government.
But what obtains in tbr health sector? johesu planning a coup and expecting the government to be indifferent. I mean where on this earth does that happen? You can't just wake up one day and say you wan to start residency without willing to "do residency in tge real sense of it". That is by giving up your permanent employment, run your program for nothing less than four years and be ready to be booted out of that facility in renewed search for job the moment you become a "consultant". You must be ready to stay non-pensionable. I mean, you can't eat your cake and have it. That'll be gross injustice. . during your residency, ARE U SPONSORING URSELF OR GOVT IS SPONSORING U BY PAYING UR SALARY, EXAMS, REVISION COURSES ETC.? |
