Drop your number let's talk... Or send me a mail through Nairaland.

NB: I didn't pay the application fee. I got a fee waiver from MasterCard.

The payment problem you're experiencing is prolly because of the following:

1) The bank card you're using may not be suitable for the payment.
2) The monthly limit on some debit cards
3) Issue with how you're entering your details. You were asking if the date is with or without the slash.

Also, you can use another person's card. It doesn't have to be a card in your name.

Ok just check the FAQ on the UBC website. There should be a solution to that. Or you send them a mail with your complain

Does your referees have institutional email? If yes, then they are supposed to receive the mail immediately you submit. If No, then there's an option for emailed reference since the system cannot communicate with free mail addresses like gmail
Yes, they all have institutional email addresses

People saying she's wrong to use Facebook, do y'all think that in these three months she's not used other diplomatic means and no headway? People saying it's just three months and she should have understood that covid is making cash flow into government difficult, do y'all know that covid only became serious in Nigeria around March ending? And hence, she's not supposed to be owed Feb and March salaries at least? See eh, she may have been the scapegoat, but what's played out here is the quintessential no-criticism-no-dissent-esque type of government Nigeria's speedily sliding into. If she didn't subtly drag them (remember, she was not rude in the post), their salaries would still be pending. Now, all of a sudden, someone has submitted their BVNs. Laughable.

Politics / Re: Aisha Buhari: Bad People Have Taken Over The Country From Us by patokenneth: 2:01pm On Dec 06, 2019
Ayed44:
Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, says “bad people” have taken over the country from people who are “supposed to be in charge”.

Aisha said this on Thursday during a phone-in interview on Television Continental (TVC)’s ‘Journalists Hangout’ programme.

She said it is unacceptable that those who should be in control of the government have remained mute, while some persons are using the social media to bring down the government.

She said fake news has caused her some distress particularly when the president was rumoured to have died, and when he was said to be taking a second wife.

“I didn’t take it seriously because even my husband didn’t know what was happening,” she said of the rumoured marriage.

“Both of us didn’t know what was happening; they just decided to bombard social media with it. They are now taking to social media to bring down the government itself.

“I think that we should not allow people that are nothing to override the innocent; I don’t know why people that are supposed to be in charge should remain mute while bad people take over the country from us. It is impossible and totally unacceptable.”

Aisha also accused presidential aides and other government officials of ignoring issues they should respond to and focusing on things that the presidency has no business in.

“Whenever they (presidential aides) are supposed to take action against the offenders, or to take action or to take charge or be in control, or caution people, they keep mute,” she said.

“But when it comes to unnecessary things, people will start talking of the presidency. A typical example is what happened after the election in Bayelsa state. When the PDP came out and said they would … suspend His Excellency, Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, for doing wrong or something like that.

“I have seen no reason why (the) presidency should come out and say that they were shocked to hear that. Is it their business? Are they PDP members? Is president Jonathan a member of our party? What does that have to do with the presidency?”

Business / Re: Jumia Closes Business In Tanzania Days After Suspending Operations In Cameroon by patokenneth: 8:02am On Nov 28, 2019
tinodam:

While the workers of Jumia Cameroon are still digesting the news of operations being 'suspended' in the country, the biggest eCommerce startup in Africa has closed another of its business in Tanzania.

According to a statement obtained by Techawk, the 'Amazon of Africa' has shut down its operations in Tanzania in order to focus resources on other markets.

The statement reads: "Based on our review of the path to success, we have made a difficult decision to cease our operations in Tanzania as of 27th Nov 2019.

"While Tanzania has strong potential and we’re proud of the growth we’ve collectively seen stemming from Jumia’s adoption, we have to focus our resources on our other markets. This decision isn't easy but will help put our focus and resources where they can bring the best value and help Jumia thrive."

Like in Cameroon, the statement adds that: "Jumia will continue to support buyers and vendors through our classifieds portal, previously called Jumia Deals, which will now be the main portal jumia.tz. Thousands of buyers and vendors transact through this portal and we believe it will continue to become increasingly relevant in the future."

The Alibaba of Africa appears to be desperately looking for ways to cut its losses and become profitable. One of the ways it thinks it can achieve this is to close down businesses that strategic to these objectives.

Jumia's 3rd quarter report shows that it is nowhere near profitability despite making a revenue of $44.2 million. Regardless, the losses keep rising. For the Q3, the loss stood at $55 million, which is higher than the $45 million it recorded in the same quarter in 2018.

The million-dollar question on the minds of the thousands of Jumia employees is which country is next? It is still present in Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, Ghana, Senegal, Uganda and Rwanda.
