One takeaway from this whole wahala is that DonJ should never be trusted. If it's you in the photo then as Sod said you cast aspersions on folks with tribal marks even when your mum has one on her face and if it isn't you, then you are guilty of what you accused Tinubu of...

timay1: Yea. that's why they only have 1 point from 5 games.
With the way they are going, relegation is sure for them. You guys think playing tiki taka is the only way to win a football game.
The reason Real Madrid js so successful today is that Perez don't demand beautiful football from the coaches he hires, he only demands 3 points and trophies from them. How you'll do it is up to you as a coach. If you like play beautiful football or Haram football. Just win the bloody game. Nobody said tiki taka is the way, the truth and the light. Madrid play very good football. It watch almost all their games so, I know what I am talking about. Of the teams who have won playing the way we do, how many have been successful for a stretch? |

ChristoBam: Teams get injuries like that and don't take the decision to play like that.
But as for United, this is a given. Couple of poor results and injuries and you'll end up playing like that. Don't give a fvck who it is. We can play the 'what ifs game' but you can't tell until your fave manager is on the hot seat.
If he had lost the game. I don't even want to begin to say what'd have happened. One of the difficulties of managing United. See who is talking about 'favourite manager'...It's ETH we are talking about here not Poch so, you of all people should know that I was 100% in support of his appointment and had a tough job trying to get you to be optimistic ahead of his reign...The fact I supported him should have seen me binding defending whatever he does but I am not cut from that clothing, I'll criticize the team when I feel we are not getting it right and praise the team when it is well deserving of praise... |

Protect the backline like we were up against Doku - Haaland - Foden or Diaz - Jota - Salah...
If we come up against City now, we will be entertained with a lot of footballing thesis here highlighting why we need to bring in Mou to help design a bus parking plan...People will justify why we shouldn't start a forward player at all just to protect Lindelof and Evans like they're amateurs... |

melodyogonna: Coaches are not magicians, the first thing is really players that play a certain way. You can't play ETH's style with McTominay at the base of your midfield hiding from passes. You can with a younger version of Eriksen.
Rashford seems to have forgotten how to combine with team mates for some reason. Hojlund is showing he's not good with the ball on his feet, maybe it's just because he's new. We have no right winger. Our first choice defenders are all injured. Nah, I'll not blame ETH on this, we started the season very badly in terms of injuries. Is it my job to bench McTom? Whatever happened to starting Casemiro, Bruno and Hannibal in a 4-3-3 and playing Rashford on the Right and Garnacho on the left? Did we not see Klopp pairing MacAllister and Szbolzlai with Jota in front of them when they did not have enough options in midfield? See how you guys are on about Eriksen but when we pointed out here that Mount was nothing like Eriksen you guys thought we were hating. If it is established that his style needs a player like Eriksen to thrive, why didn't he opt for a player similar to Eriksen? Talking about injuries, it's the reason we have a large squad. Those guys get paid every week because the club think they can do a job when the first-choice players are unavailable. It is not against Burnley that we should start cooking up excuses. Look at the starting 11 of both teams and tell me which team should keep the ball better and create more chances. A bad player at Man Utd will easily start every game for Fulham, a team that is better than Burnley. |

maik99: You people will agree that players are trash yet expect wonders with them No be the same Ghostominay play today? Not the same selfish Rashford? Or weak Lindelof? Or stupid Dalot? So where the quality to win con dey fGs? Do you accept that players can improve through good coaching? Do you think City will be this dominant without Pep? Fergie did a lot with average players. Some players at City won't be so good away from Pep's system. I will understand if we come up against Liverpool, City, Arsenal and the likes and falter but not against the Burnley's and Wolves of the world... I watched City when Pep first joined in a preseason against Arsenal. One thing was evident, his imprints on the football they tried to play. It was his first game but you could easily see what he was on about. I did not need to watch videos of analysis to see whatever he was on about as it was clear for all to see even though the players were not so good. A couple of years after you watch City play you'd see a team that has perfected the Pep style. It's the second season and from our games, I see nothing to suggest the players train together. I just want to see the team play football that is recognisable just so I know we are headed somewhere but no, I have not seen anything to suggest we are making progress...Maybe it is me who is not paying attention so, please help explain what you see when you watch us play. I agree that some of the players we parade are not good enough but how about those at Burnley? How come they kept the ball better and created better chances? |

ChristoBam: Lol all of these things are in your head. Cuz you obviously want the manager out and I don't. What's my business with me vs them? All I'm doing is stating facts.
We probably would have played better if we used a midfield of Casemiro, Eriksen anBruno. But the question is would we have won? I seriously doubt. We needed the 3 points and got it. The gameplan no matter how annoying it was worked.
I'd be all out for Ten Hag if we didn't have these crazy injury problems. Was it part of the game plan to have them hit the post and have Onana making saves to keep us in the game? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:49pm On Sep 23, 2023 |
ChristoBam: I'm not going to start arguments about that City team. There's a reason Cancelo was frozen out of the squad. Sterling was also very mid before he was sold. I'm not even arguing the fact Pep is the secret behind their style of play. Just stating the fact about those players.
My point is don't compare our team to City's. No one does. A few injuries will only affect them a little. They can field their 2nd team and easily beat anyone. No team has that luxury, even Madrid.
Btw, Ten Hag had a system like that at Ajax also. Mid players looked like world beaters. VDB looked like the next best thing. De ligt looked like something else. You know the bolded is true yet you weren't initially in support of his appointment. My worry is that I supported him in lieu of the bolded but nothing points to the fact that he is on the way to establishing a recognizable latter of play here which is very disturbing... |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:35pm On Sep 23, 2023 |
ChristoBam: There's a reason not every top team gets to the latter stages of these cup competitions.
It's because if you make too many changes, the team can look unidentifiable. That's how mid teams from championship can shock top teams in the league.
I wouldn't take any player from Burnely. But that's the first team of a manager. That's the team he planned the season with. That's the team he trusts in. That's the team he's chosen. Whatever identity they have, it's at the peak when they're together.
And no, I don't view every criticism of the manager in that light. The agenda is just so obvious when you and the other guys try to downplay the injury problems we're facing. You are trying too hard to start a 'we vs them' scenario here and it's still not working. If we played against Liverpool, City, Spurs, Arsenal or even Chelsea then the injury concerns will come into play but no Burnley (Fvcking Burnley!)...We had enough quality to not just win but play better than we did. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:22pm On Sep 23, 2023 |
ChristoBam: Varane Martinez Luke Shaw Mount(since you said Eriksen is not a guaranteed starter). Antony Bissaka
That's 6 first team players.
And please never compare us to City! No team can even be compared to City. They can go through a crazy injury crises and still field a super strong team. Very few can do that. Lol...They're only a well-drilled team and nothing more. There are a lot of pointers to the fact that Pep is the genius behind the beautiful football they play. Go watch Gundogan at Barca or Cancelo (He was very poor today but then he scored the winner so unless you watched the game you wouldn't know), and watch Sterling at Chelsea too... Ake, Akanji, Stones, Nunes (Who noticed him at Wolves?), Kovacic and a lot of the players at City were not so highly rated before now. |

ChristoBam: Rashford needs to be sold? 😂😭
This fanbase ehhn.
We've spent how much on wingers since SAF left? Probably close to 400m. How many of them have been better than Rashford?
You want to sell Rashford and buy who?
😂 Please don't crack me up. Like Rashford is the best winger out there... You have a striker who looks like a good box striker yet you parade wingers who rather cut in and shoot...Lol... It is the same reason I think Kane will struggle at Bayern because away from scoring against bottom-placed teams in that league, he will struggle against top opposition. After all, Sane rather cut in and take a shot than look for the striker. Kane will thrive with Coman and probably Gnabry (He too is a goal scorer). |

ChristoBam: You'll never get my point cuz your thinking is towards one direction now. And it's the sacking of the manager. It's super obvious.
When you play on an away ground in the premier league and have most of your first team players out and need 3 points more than anything in this world, that's how you end up playing!
Admit defeat? We fvcking won! What're you on about? I hope you remember that I was the one trying to convince you to give ETH a chance even when you were not sold on him. With our starting team today and even the options on the bench, we had enough quality to go on and dominate. You saying it was all about going out there to get the 3 pts today comes across as you making excuses. How many players from that Burnley team will you exchange for the players we paraded? Let us praise the team when they do well and criticize when we play poorly... You are making the mistake of thinking that criticism after a win equates to calls for the Manager's head but far from it, some of us recognize danger from miles away. We can't keep playing so poorly, we won't be always lucky. |

kozmicity: Onana AWB Varane Lisandro Shaw Casemiro Eriksen Bruno Rashford Hojlund Antony.
That's our known starting XI.
Only 4 and Onana played today. Onana is not part of the starting 11? FYI Eriksen is no more a guaranteed starter. Dalot and AWB is 50/50... At most, we missed 4-5 starters...City are going through some form of injury crisis by nobody talks about it because they have a working system. We do not have one and nothing from our displays so far points to one. |

Whatever terrible football we played today, we did to protect our backline.
There's no way in hell we'd be exposing a defensive pairing of Lindelof and Evans to counter attacks. Abeg stop making excuses for a poor performance... You come across like someone too scared to admit defeat...What were we protecting with all those careless passes? |
