joeace2020:But Spurs have Walker, Rose and Alderwiereld who are pacy too, we will need a bit of intelligence to undo them |
joeace2020:Pace and pace and more pace...City will dread facing that attack as will Arsenal...Only Spurs have the tools to limit the effectiveness of that front three. |
My Player rating.. De Gea (10/10 Was hardly ever tested, he must have been very disappointed with Mourinho for not giving him the rest yesterday as he had nothing to do that had any semblance of goalkeeping, at a point, I thought he was playing as a CB... Antonio Valencia 8/10 Went about his business with style and vigour, restrained from his swashbuckling forays forward due to the lurking Hazard but all the same, he did extremely well. Bailly 7.5/10 With Bailly, you get that feeling of brainfart lurking, he lost Costa once or twice but as the game wore on, he steadied himself and put in a good shift. Marcus 'No Nonsense' Rojo 9/10 Like his defensive partner on the day, you really don't know the Rojo that's gonna turn up, can be rash on the tackle and should have easily been booked for an alteration with Costa in the first half but as the game got on, he seemed to found his mojo and damn, he was really impressive on the air, land, sea etc One of the most improved players in the team. Darmian 10/10 It feels absurd to see me praising Darmian but damned, he showed why we forked out the cash to get him from Torino, dude was practically responsible for the disappearance of Pedro, he tucked inside to great effect allowing Young to occupy the LWB slot (Tactical masterclass from Jose Mourinho) Fellaini 7.5/10 The afroman was deployed strategically to neutralize Matic and stop the marauding runs of Kante-Iscariot to which he excelled in his role, serve as an out ball when the team couldn't play from the back, we keep saying every manger will ditch him but someway, somehow, he still makes the team...I doff my hat for his determination. Herrera 11/10 Jack of all trades and master of all is one you don't get to hear often, he totally dominated the midfield and in the process rendering Hazard, Kante-Iscariot and Matic useless at once (Stuff of legends, huh?). The through pass to release Rashford for the opener was reminiscent of a prime Xavi and his goal was a timely reminder that he can hit the ball like Scholes, Lamps etc...Class act and consummate professional, easily the Man of the match. Pogba 7/10 Tried to be a little over elaborate when he could have played with his team mates, had too many nervy moments for comfort but all the same, he improved as the game wore on. First season syndrome if you ask me, next season, we should see the beast that made us break the bank. Young 8/10 Had a great game considering he hasn't had enough game time this season, deployed as a LWB to devastating effect, stopped Azpi from joining the attack and on his day, he should have scored twice. Jese Lingard 8/10 He makes up for his lack of talent with his pace and energy, didn't allow Chelsea play from the back as was on about tussling and harrying the opposition...His pace was key to the game plan, not one of my favorite but I can hardly fault his commitment. Marcus Rashford 9.5/10 When he fluffed the first chance that came his way, I thought to myself, it's one of those days but like a champion that he is, he never gave up and my word, the run, the pass and the finish was reminiscent of Van Nistelrooy at the peak of his powers, today, he showed that there is life after Ibra. Subs Carrick 8/10 Brought in by Mou to neutralize the effect of Fabregas introduction and he did just that, stamped his authority on the game in typical Carrick style. JOSE MOURINHO 100/100 Made Conte eat the humble pie with his spot on tactics, today he showed why he is the best in the business...His starting eleven didn't look good enough but that's how you differentiate yourself from the rest, beating a great team with your reserves... I stand tall to say Chelsea are simply not good enough, hand the damn trophy over to Spurs. Glory Glory Manchester United, we are not arrogant, just better. |
SIRcumalot:Honestly, I expect us to beat Burnley, Swansea, City, Arsenal and played out a draw vs Spurs... All I need from Mou is a tactical masterclass when we play Arsenal and City, I wouldn't mind Ibra on the bench for those two games just for the pace and directness that Rashford brings |
chidexxy007:Yes, the tactics was spot on and the commitment from the lads was just about it... Herrera epitomises everything we expect from a player representing us |
dopeJemi:Tactical masterclass from Mourinho, and to think I berrated him for his team selection, smetimes, the much we know isn't enough |
weedtaker, funlordmaniac, sinizia, sircumalot, eph12, lana1, dopejemi, adisaowala, elrony, christinec and all others, have we played a better game this season? |
Anybody attacking me and others who criticized Mourinho for his selection is just playing to the gallery, to be honest, just about everyone wasn't impressed with the line up but I am pleased Mou got me on this one, the tactics was spot on, it reminded me of that game where SAF used Fabio and Raphael as wingers with Oshea playing midfield... This is the Mourinho I used to dread, more and more of today's performance from the lads. |
eph12:Even Europa isn't guaranteed so what are we on about, we should leave ourself in with a shout of finishing top 4 |
SIRcumalot:Europa we are not sure of winning? He should give equal priority to the both abeg. |
You guys sent Mou to destroy Man Utd abi? Just peruse through our starting 11, Darmian, Young and Fellaini? Ibra and Mhkitaryan benched...Agent Mourinho is out to destroy Man Utd |
Darmian, Young, Fellaini I rest in your hands oh lord, I rest in your hands... |
Mourinho must be very mad what the fvck is this? |
Funlordmaniac:Anything for the Spurs... |
Leyqute:Godforbid, I'd rather have Carrick in there. |
Danhumprey:Spurs winning the league will be fine by me but they have got some really tough fixtures coming up. |
Lana1 I don't think Van Gaal got as much stick as Mou in his first year as Manager. The perception generally was that he needed time to right the wrongs of the Moyes reign so he wasn't put under any sort of pressure in his first year...After 2 years, folks jumped on his case and rightly so. |
GloryIsaac:Exactly, but extending Lingard's contract and increasing his wages was a big disappointment, extending contract maybe yes but 100k a week? No...We havea large squad but majority are bang average, poor on the ball, weak mentality etc |
Lana1:To be honest, we all wanted Van Gaal out afters two solid years of mediocrity...Let's give the special one another season to command the United ship and watch how he fares... |
GloryIsaac:I get your point however, you must realize that with the financial clout of other clubs around us, it's gonna be a lot more difficult for us. If the wealth was equally spread in La liga as it is in the EPL, Valencia, A. Madrid and Sevilla would have been standing shoulder to shoulder with Madrid and Barca thus making things a lot more difficult for them... They was a time where we could have looked at Tottenham and said "let's get Kane or a time when we could have gotten Alexis and Ozil because Wenger won't pay that much or a time when we would have gotten Aguero cos we offered the highest wages or a time when Hazard would have chosen us but those days are gone, and with each passing year, it will get more and more complicated for all the top clubs in the EPL...Money is power. |
Chelseafan1:You sabi find trouble sha!!! ![]() |
Craig Shakespeare inspired Leicester City players too, right? Chelsea players revolted against Mou last season just as Leicester players connived to get Ranieri fired...Same players and Leicester are doing excellently, so much for motivation... |
It would be very disappointing to see you guys have a go at yourselves for no reason, the guys (Me included) supporting Mou are not doing so because we are entirely happy with the position we are in, we are keeping the faith cos in the midst of it all, it can still end up a good season, we have a chance of finishing 3rd and winning the UEL so I think we should just do away with our E-warrior tendencies and support the push for glory... |
larride:Hehehe let's stop here before we end up having a divided fanbase...GGMU |
GloryIsaac:Yes, we now see them as world cup and UCL, it's been very tough after Fergie thus we must appreciate whatever we are able to garner along our way to recovery. It is folks who are unrealistic like some on here who think it's our right to win all and sundry like other teams are not in it to win. |
Will we be talking about big games if somebody didn't do the job in the so called small games? Most definitely no, so why then do some folks want to downplay the contributions of other players in their bid to propagate their irrational agenda, to win an argument on Nairaland? Quite funny... Aguero is as prolific as they come, Suarez even misses more clear cut chances than Kun but because he is at Barca where the chances keeps coming, his profligacy in front of goal is masked. Kun remains one of the best as far as putting the ball in the back of the net whether Pep or any other nairaland analyst think otherwise. |
Honestly, Rashford should use his brain more rather than depend on his pace almost every time, Lingard for all his running around shouldn't be keeping Martial glued to the bench... One thing that stood out for me today was seeing Shaw back on his feet after he fell awkwardly trying to challenge Ndong and wanting to continue, normal Shaw will ask to be substituted immediately...Tough love all the way... We need to take our chances as they come as it may just come down to goal difference, better fighting on two front for a place in the UCL than putting all our hopes on UEL. |
Funlordmaniac:The negativity on display here isn't what we need at this stage of the season, some are even praying for us to fail just so they can say "I told you so"... |
Nihilist:Baba wake up... |
Lana1:If we need to beat Chelsea and lose to Spurs for Spurs to win the league, I'd take it... ![]() |
Spurs are absolutely on fire... |
bigkesh:Now, this is real sh.it |
