Funlord2: Heard moratas agent has called for a 2nd meeting with real Madrid's technical board for tomorrow morning after he and morata chatted with jose on friday night which in turn led him to have a solo meeting with the boards members on friday night? But this time morata will be attending the meeting?
E don be! Morata will be a sound addition to the team, he has speed, good ball control, can dribble and his hold up play is very good...Snap him up Ed. |

Diademk07: Lmao.
So, you mean by advancing the play through the middle, Pogba wouldn't get the ball as a result?
Should Pogba have to drop deep with him before he can get the ball from him? You are sounding like the rest of us here haven't watched Herrera play, your argument doesn't hold water because Herrera does that and more |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 1:09pm On Jun 11, 2017 |
Diademk07: No one is saying Herrera shouldn't pass to Pogba. But it shouldn't be about Pogba dropping deep with him to collect the ball. He should be able to advance the play by making a vertical pass, even if it's just a short one. Busi - Xavi - Inieta triumvirate exchanged more passes than pleasantries but for you, Herrera shouldn't pass the ball to Pogba as much as he does...You just can't see anything good in Herrera's game, it's just how it is...Pointless engaging in this discuss |

Diademk07: While Liverpool had Macherano, they also had Alonso and Gerard (although he wasn't great in the central midfield but he gave them some form of control in the attacking third), Spurs have Eriksen who's more like a little David Silva in the midfield although he's not as good)
But in our case, we have no playmaakers! Pogba is a winger right? Herrera is a striker abi? Get those lads playing with a proper DM and watch them flourish... |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:33pm On Jun 11, 2017 |
Diademk07: Tuanzebe is a defender, not a CDM.
If we could criticise Fellaini of lacking the technical ability to contribute in the control of the midfield, I don't see why Tuazebe should be any better. Some people often talk about how Caseimiro helped to complete Madrid's midfield but he's got two pass masters in the likes of Kroos and Modric in front of him. In fact, Madrid would even look much more better if they could get a more technical CDM who can help to build up the play from the back without the need of Kroos constantly dropping too deep to get on the ball. That was exactly what Bastian offered Kroos at the worldcup and he looked far better than he ever did at Madrid although he has been good for Madrid but not on the worldclass level he looked at the worldcup.
On the other hand, we have no playmaker such as Kroos and Modric who can dictate the play and help us to control the midfield yet we want to add a typical defender as our CDM? What are we becoming?
Personally, I would love to see Tuanzebe grow as the centre back he is because he's done nothing to impress me as a CDM. Yes, he's got quick feet but he has got neither the passing range, ability to switch play nor the ability to pass through the line. He also offer little in our build-up play just like Herrera.
That's why I would prefer that Donny Van de Beek lad. He's the only one I can think of, apart from Motta and De rossi but the latter are ageing already. Another is Oriol Romeu, he doesn't have the passing range and he is not playmaker like those aforementioned 3 players (Beek, Motta, De Rossi) but he's got the composure in the midfield and the ability to pass through the lines. As for Fabinho, I think the RB position is still likely his best position because he isn't composed enough to play in the midfield. I saw him against Juve and City and he didn't impress me as a holding midfielder but he's got the creativity and marauding runs to operate as a fullback.
There's also Badelj but the only weakness is his defensive play which is still a major suspect in his game. Not all DM's must have the passing range of Carrick or have the eye for cut through passes or be generally sleek on the eye, ability to screen the defense while being averagely good in possession is very okay for a DM, on the one hand you'll always have the Carrick's, Busi, Motta and on the other hand, there's Casemiro, Mascherano in his Liverpool days, Wanyama etc...It's down to a coaches preference. |

For me, I still think we should push for a deal to bring back Michael Keane, a 3 man defense consisting of Bailly - Keane - Lindelof will be a joy to watch. Jones and Smalling should be shipped out or sent on loan...Bailly, Lindelof, Keane, Rojo and Blind should do... Tuanzebe looks more like a 4 than a CB, Jose should use him to shield the defense or buy an experienced CDM so that Herrera and [Pogba can join the attack more frequently. |

What Kroos brings to Madrid midfield is what Xavi did for Barca in their dominant years, you won't see them go on swashbuckling runs or do fancy flicks but they keep the game flowing with intelligent use of the ball...Kroos is like Xavi and Modric is like Iniesta...I'd be very happy we can get Kroos from that team... |

AdisaOwala: Casemiro wasn't a regular starter under Benitez Yes, because Benitez was pressured to play the big names...Zidane has that cult-like foolwership in Madrid and his achievements as a player makes it difficult for the players and management alike to question his decisions... If Giggs came to United and benches Zlatan, we'd all give him the benefit of the doubt compared to a Moyes or Brendan Rodgers doing same. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 2:01pm On Jun 04, 2017 |
AdisaOwala: Even the inclusion of Casemiro alone stabilized the team tactically....
Another manager might have attempted to shoe-horn the expensive James Rodriguez into the side (probably at the expense of the Brazillian) but Zizou knew exactly how he wanted his team to play & went all out to actualize his plans.
The likes of Lucas Vasquez, Asensio etc were also given opportunities & they quite impressed... But Benitez insisted on playing Casemiro that's one of the reason he was shown the door, he believed the back four needed protection and he deem Casemiro the man to oofer samesadly he didn't have the personality or the means to go about convincing the Madrid hierarchy. |

he has tricks, he has pace and can score and assist, we have to get him
Douglas Nainngolan aubumeyang maybe Griezzman any defender, not Keane though
I don't see why won't compete for the league and champions league with these names Douglas Costa is a great talent but sometimes, his legs are faster than his brain and if you must get him, then you need a striker like Chicharito cos he whoops in a lot of balls and with pace... |

PietroRico: Personally I'm tempted to go with Mata, because of his experience. Lingard would be my 2nd choice for a starting berth. So if either of these fail to work out, martial can come later and we hope he does something this time around.
Martial starting and not pulling his weight, leaves us with Mata and lingard who don't strike me as people capable of coming of the bench to make needed instant impact.
Cant imagine is needing a goal and having to bring on lingard Martial - Mata - Mhkitaryan should start behind Rashford or we play a 3-Man midfield and have Mhkitaryan and Martial flanking Rashford...We need ballers tomorrow... |

afrodoc: My preferred options are Kane or Aubameyang but i am on siddon look mode now. I don't think Griezmann is worth that money but at least he is an attacking player who will get goals hopefully (unlike Pogba). Hopefully we get him AND another pacy finisher cos with Rooney and Zlatan leaving we need at least 2 new faces in attack to join Rashford. My issue with it is simply this.....i hope we are not spending half of the transfer money on only him because like Pogba this season he wont be enough. We need to buy 2 quality strikers next season, with a RWF, a CMF, and 1 or 2 defenders also. Your concerns are genuine but to be honest, who are the two new faces that won't come at a cost? Kane will cost just as much or maybe more, Auba wants Madrid and won't come cheap unless you want us to go for other targets...What are our scouts doing? |

Diademk07: Gamiero, Carrasco and Torres scored plenty of goals among them apart from the 16 scored by Griezmann.
Moreover, most of Gamiero and Torres' goals came in the latter half of the season when they call the bullshit on Griezmann and went for the jugular themselves.
And who told you Sociedad wasn't built around him? Who was the main man apart from Griezmann at Sociedad? The worse thing now is Griezmann has evolved to be one position player compared to what he was at Sociedad which was about 4yrs ago. Carlos Vela was just as important in the Sociedad team |

Diademk07: Who told you Simeone is defensive?
He's defensive in big games but against small teams, he's not.
You actually think players such as Carrasco, Koke, Correa et al are defensive?
BTW, if you want to get the best out of Griezman, you won't only have to build the team around him but also, get a target man whom he can feed off. Without these, he's bound to fail. Kapish! So how many goals has Carrasco, Gamiero, Torres etal scored since they've also come up against the so called small teams... Was the sociedad team built around him? |
