That was a foolish statement to make on national TV; it can be used against him anywhere, just as is the case now. Those against him will say his boys are behind the vandalism of oil pipelines and they have their video to point to when pressed for evidence. |

Ain't gonna blame him though cos imagine Mount collecting €275k pw doing absolutely nothing. Eriksen collecting €295k pw simply for rotting on the bench and Casemiro taking home €250k pw as retirement package.
These are senior players, ordinariily, Mainoo should learn from and apparently he is learning well. LOL! Mainoo should be sold if he insists on anything above 100k weekly. For me, he should still be on 50k because he has not done enough to show he deserves a pay rise. If Yamal was here, he'd be on 250k judging by his exploits in the Euros. I refuse to accept that line of thought that because Mount and Casemiro are on high wages Mainoo's stance is justified. Mount and Casemiro will definitely be shown the door, just as Mainoo, too, will be sold if he isn't realistic with his demands. |

Politics › Re: Atiku Says Suspension Of Senator Natasha Is Suppression Of Women's Rights by patrickmuf(m): 8:16am On Mar 09, 2025 |
emkz: No.
What are the issues?
(1) Senator Natasha Akpoti's seat was moved which was a routine matter. Instead of going to her seat, she started speaking from where she was not assigned. She was told she could not speak from there and she began throwing tantrums. She said her voice was being silenced by the senate president. At that point, she did not complain of sexual harassment.
(2) She was on Arise News to say that the senate president held her hand while showing her around his mansion with her husband walking behind and saying to her: "you like?" When she said she liked, he then said they could be coming there for "quality time". He allegedly said this with her husband around. She said that later, she met Akpabio in his office over his reluctance to allow her bill to be read which led Akpabio to say that "I am the chief presiding officer of the senate, if you take care of me, I'd take care of you".
What has now been established?
(1) The senator obtained a court order to stop the probe of her outburst on the floor of the senate but submitted a petition on the sexual harassment which she wanted the senate to look into. Why did she not want her misbehavior to be treated but she wanted her petition to be looked into? Was the petition an afterthought as an instrument of self-preservation seeing that the rules were flouted?
(2) She said her husband instructed she should not travel out with Akpabio; there are reports that she did travel with Akpabio for their parliamentary conferences.
(3) There is still no case on the sexual assault filed in court. As we advised her, she'd not get fair hearing from the senate. So the best place was to file a petition in court. I am not sure Akpabio has immunity.
(4) What informed making the accusations on Arise Television, creating a buzz and only submitting a petition to the senate afterwards? She played her cards in public and gave her colleagues the opportunity to prepare to ambush her. She did not even align with the rules of submitting a petition which indicates that she was not properly acquainted with the rules of the senate.
What are now the expectations?
(1) Let her go to court to submit a cross-petition on the sexual harassment matter as Mrs Akpabio has one running. I doubt if the senate will give her fair hearing. We want the sexual allegation to be investigated by a body without a dog in the fight.
(2) Let the facts be stated: she was punished for breaching the senate rules. She did breach their rules.
(3) It has nothing to do with being a woman. Abdul Ningi, Ali Ndume, Arthur Nzeribe, Ovie Omo-Agege and some others were suspended from the senate for bringing the senate to ridicule. Natasha Akpoti did bring the senate to ridicule by quarreling on the floor of the senate. Yes, we cannot tell her how to process her pains, but the senate had rules for her to make a report. She did not do this until she had done sufficient damage. In the house of representatives, Dino Melaye and some others were suspended for fighting in the house. Dino had brought a whistle and was blowing it in the house to disrupt proceedings before fighting erupted.
(4) Atiku should not mine political capital from this. There are women in the senate. They have never been subjugated. If they were, how come past female senators have not publicly supported Natasha Akpoti? At least give credence to the original writer of this piece. |

malali: Mr. Senate President,
Allegations have been made against you. If you know they are false, then do the right thing: submit yourself to the Ethics Committee. Let them be the ones to come back and clear your name.
But running around on social media acting as the judge, jury, and executioner only makes you look guilty. It’s not helping your case, and your actions are only raising suspicion.
Your behavior of suspending anyone who dares to speak out against you is not going unnoticed. Nigerians are not foolish. We’ve had people like you in the past, in the military, who falsely accused others of coups and shot them on the firing squad without hesitation. Now, you are doing the same thing in the Senate. Anyone who dares to exercise their democratic right to question you ends up suspended, like some kind of mob boss or cartel leader. No one has the right to challenge you.
During Saraki's senate you also caused an uproar on seating arrangement. I remember very well. I have attached the picture in case you forgot. Saraki did not suspend you !!!!
The Senators are not your commissioners. And just because you hand out juicy committee chairmanships in exchange for loyalty, doesn’t mean you own them. That kind of quid pro quo won’t last long. I promise you that. Stop trying to be clear by a half. Sen. Natasha was suspended for flouting the Senate rules which was captured on video. When Akpabio fluted the rules under the leadership of Saraki, he apologised; hence, no extended punishment was meted out on him, but here, Sen Natasha refused to apologise even when her other colleagues urged her to do so. If Natasha has a case, she should approach the courts as she has done. Don't let your hate for Akpabio becloud your judgement. |

Jamiuokolaa: If 15th position was the goal this season, I am sure Ten hag wouldn't have been sacked at that time.
Dunno about you but a 15th place finish for a Man utd manager who by the end of the season would have been in charge of a whopping 27 PL games is outright unacceptable!
Let's not even get started with the negative records being broken almost every week!
Nobody has mandated that he wins the league or even qualify for the CL but bros, we need to see that we are on the right trajectory and a 15th placed finish negates that belief!
So far, Amorim performance has been extremely poor and the facts are there for all to see. He needs to shape up fast! Guy, I’m not sure you remember when we went through a tough period in the past, but what’s happening now doesn’t compare to what we experienced before, though it may be for a justifiable reason. Amorim left Sporting in the middle of a season when they were excelling in both the Portuguese league and the UCL to join a club that was heading downhill. The only addition he had to improve the squad was Dorgu. The club was aware of his preferred formation and had plenty of time to assess if he was the right fit before appointing him, even though fans could see that we didn’t have the right personnel to implement his strategy. January presented an excellent opportunity to bring in 2-3 players, but the management only acquired Dorgu, who isn't a poor signing but definitely insufficient to address the larger issues within the squad. Let’s also not forget that even before Amorim arrived, players like Rashford, Hojlund, Zirkzee (who seems to be improving), Antony, Bruno, and others struggled. While we expected the new manager to make an immediate impact, I have to ask, to what end? Should he just change the formation to secure a few wins and temporarily mask the problems, only for them to resurface later? I firmly say 'NO.' Ever since Ole came and misled the entire fanbase, I’ve learned not to get carried away again. Let’s give Amorim the chance to bring in some players and conduct a proper preseason with the team before passing judgment. I understand that we are not performing well at the moment, but I’m willing to be patient because I know that taking the easy way out will lead us nowhere. Some want a quick fix, but I and many others here and elsewhere don’t. The difference lies there. A quick solution would simply involve the manager changing the formation to secure wins that would appease part of the fanbase, but how sustainable would that be in the long run? I want him to stick to what he knows best, recruit his players over the summer, and then truly give it a shot. If he falls short of expectations 4-5 months into the new season, then we can start to hold him accountable. |

Tueh! How well were the same players doing under Bin Laden? What is so difficult for you guys to wait for next season? We are not going to be relegated so you guys should chill abeg. If 4 months into the new campaign we are languishing in 15th, then you'll see that most of the people who are asking you to be calm will lead the charge for his sack...When I say most, I am number one on the list... |

nitrogen: I hope you are not expecting these guys to perform at Ronaldo/Messi level. We cannot keep blaming the players, it’s unfair especially after signing them based on their performances at other clubs.
Even the academy players are not spared. Garnacho don suffer for una hands.
As Pep is losing his mojo, it’s looking like his players are not great. Some are saying City players are old, bla bla bla, but then, the average age of City’s squad is 26-27, same as last three seasons when they the won EPL back to back to back and the UCL. I am not going to argue Pep with you neither am I going to respond to your fallacious take on fans here. I am one of those who always believed the players are not the problem but that argument is shaky right now as these players (the majority, not all) have shown time without number that they can not be trusted to prosecute a full season at a level that will see us challenging for top trophies. It's time to rejig the squad and hopefully, we get it right. The signing of Dorgu (his profile and attributes) excites me and I hope we go after such players going forward. I'll advise that you be patient, let's see how the team performs after some reinforcement and a preseason together before we start asking for the head of the young Portuguese coach... |

Ellexy: I actually posted that before the Young diving incident and bias aside, the Ref was on our side today, no complaints.
As for criticism of Amorim, I ask you, is this shit show what Ten Hag was sacked for? Man has 4 wins in 15 PL matches. We were 12th on the log and 5 points from top 6 when Ten Hag was sacked in November. Now we are sitting in 15th being closer to relegation than than the top half of the table. Was it ever this bad under Ten Hag?
And don't forget like most people here do on purpose, I called for the sack of Ten Hag after the FA Cup win last season cos I knew his race here was run. The sack he received in November was inevitable. Having said that, wasn't Amorim suppose to stabilise the ship and improve on whatever Ten Hag was doing? Instead we are going further down and imploding.
Don't join those who leave the message and start attacking the messenger because of some preconceived bias, if Amorim no sabi the job, make him find way resign abeg cos he's been the worst manager post Fergie. Rangnick wasn't this bad nau. If your post was before the PK then I'd like to know what decision from the referee made you to claim he favored us. Bin Laden was supported by the majority of folks here until it was obvious we were not making any progress with him as coach/manager after he had the chance to bring in his players. The same can not be said of Amorim; he has not had the chance to bring in his own players, so I am not going to throw him under the bus yet. I am not sold on the new manager bounce that flatters to deceive so I advise we exercise patience until next season... |
