Recently, my dna matched someone on ancestry.com with the last name akamigbo... Is this last name Yoruba or Igbo?

I recently received a DNA test through ancestry.com and was surprised to find DNA matches from Ekiti state.. I'm American of primarily "nigerian" descent ( so far, all of my matches from Africa are Yoruba even though 26% of my DNA comes from Mali) I would love to visit the home of my Yoruba ancestor.. I'm American.. Is it safe to travel to Nigeria? I have many tattoos on both arms.. from what I have seen, its not a common thing in Nigeria or other countries within the continent..

Darklover, I would love to come to Nigeria and teach in the summer months (jun-aug).. I am finishing my masters degree in education to teach science grades 4-8th... I'm not sure if Nigeria has the same grade structure as American education systen...

It is very popular in America and black Americans are no exception. This morning, I was contacted by a distant relative from Ekiti state. She is Yoruba. I was really excited to finally hear from someone who I share a common ancestor with... Could anyone tell me more about Ekiti state and the Yoruba?
Obviously, our common ancestor was taken as a slave to America. My distant cousin surname is Fadogba.... I've read that Ekiti state has a lot of educators... I'm pursuing a teaching career right now... My DNA is split between Benin, Mali, and Cameroon... I am unfortunately 13% European... I'm 85% African and 2% Native American.... Could I fit in with the Yoruba?

I also went to the same school system every other black kid went to yet somehow here I am with 130 IQ, actuarial science major talking about politics on the internet in between homework. Where are my black American friends? (and some white ones too) drop-outs, bullshit majors, some have kids etc. This is because I came from the creme of the African population while they are members of a population with 85 average IQ.

And its hereditary, my dad is also high IQ as is my brother etc. Its generally agreed that IQ is .5 to .8 genetic.

Who said anything about black people being "inferior to whites", was the topic of whites even mentioned? The fact that you jumped to that conclusion speaks volumes about your insecurities and worldview, and also illustrates why the vast majority of black people will never advance. I don't think blacks are "inferior" and there is no objective way to measure inferiority anyway. Are whites better at academics, on average yes, but they also killed hundreds of millions of people in wars and genocide and spread disease and instability all over the world.

The only problem with black people is that we have too many low functioning people dragging the average IQ down and messing up the gene pool. We also have people like you who are too insecure and scared of being seen as "less than" by whites that you are unable to admit the truth about this issue and discuss the only viable solution.

By the way, Africans do better in the United States because West African Immigrants to the United States are typically the creme of the population, I would know. Imagine if all of Africa was made up of such individuals, combined with our creativity and vitality (unparalleled by any other race) Africa would become a first world continent within a generation.

The "black race" isn't inferior to the white man... I'm not saying that some of the ills of the black race shouldn't be contributed to the black man but BY DESIGN Africa was made to be dead last.. Wow.. I didn't know Nigerians participated in black Friday. . With the recent killings of black americans.. We were called upon by Louis farakhan to not participate in black Friday.. The purpose is to keep our money in our pickets to redstribute the pain economically... Blacks historically spend a lot of money during black Friday sales. I have been doing a little reading lately and I've started reading about the Aro Confederacy. It seems they were very involved in trading slaves to the Europeans. Were these slaves criminals? Were there some type of caste system which made the lower class expendable? Were these people loser of war between groups inside/outside the confederacy? Just thought it was interesting... Its not just African men. Its Black Americans as well.. We are currently having issues with white police officers shooting down unarmed black kids. Yea, we will march for awhile then eventually it will die out. That's weak to me. There is so much more we can do as a group and we don't. The problem is that we don't care enough about each other. Black Americans like to refer to each other as "brothers" yet we act the opposite at times. We need to go back to the days of Martin Luther King. The people are a resemblance of their leadership or a lack thereof. I think that's the problem with the continent of Africa. Im a outtsider looking in but that's what I see. I am in the U.S. Army and have worked with many soldiers who immigrated from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Cameroon just to name a few. The people must demand leaders that represent them. Not the leeches that you guys have. The question is how bad do you want it? When Africans recognize their true potential then they will be better off.

It amazes me how some Africans feel like we as black Americans don't have culture. We are arguably the most imitated group of people in the world. To deny this, would be a big stretch. We have our own music, food, and so on.. As far as economical, one just has to look at the numbers. We are the richest blacks in the world by far. Hmm, being that I'm an American soldier, I would like to retire with my health in the next 7 years(will be 38yrs old) and start my own real estate company. I would also like to travel all around the world as a tourist and not for work like I have been doing for the past 13 years. I am very interested in traveling throughout Africa. I would to see how it feels to be in a place where I don't physically stick out.
