Travel / Re: Advice To Every UK Japa Crew by Paulheyman: 4:20pm On Jan 15, 2023
Dear op and respondents
Based on the Japa syndrome, these are my dilemmas:
1) I got an offer of a postdoc in US for a 2yrs stay with possible offer of becoming a faculty member (I am not sure if I will be taken as a faculty member). The pay is $65k/annum

2) with the recent offer of a QTS visa by UK for qualified teachers. I am also very much interested based on variations in the number of years US (2yrs): UK (5yrs - so I heard)

Note: I want to get into the US or UK using (but not limited to) the academic root and possibly diversify later on

These are my challenges
1) I am a sickle cell patient. I hope I am not taking much risk based on my health? How's the health system in US compared to UK?
2) on skills: I officially left music production in 2014 to focus on my academics. So, on skills, how lucrative is music production in both countries?
3) Based on academic skills: I can perform most computer based simulation in chemistry/biology including DFT experiments, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, and other computational chemistry/biology techniques with little or no difficulties
4) I would love to switch probably from class room teacher to a full time lecturer (if UK is found worthy). How possible and easy can it be?
5i) How lucrative is teaching job in the UK?
5ii) Do the country (UK) permit home lessons?
5iii) Can I combine class room teaching with other side hustle

*** My intention is to stay there for ten years and come back and invest but if I find their land fruitful, I will stay a little longer than expected

I need guidance please!

You don't know Muslims, a typical Yoruba Muslim pushes for a Muslim agenda, deceptively acting as if nothing is wrong with them incorporating Islam into our day to day living. Right before our eyes they insisted on hijab as a Muslim dress code in schools that have uniforms to the extent of pushing the Muslim agenda in christian schools. If you don't like Christianity why not start your own Islamic schools where your children can dress in Islamic way.

Christian Yorubas have tolerated them a lot, with the jihad ongoing, Muslim-Muslim ticket is a no go area. If he likes let him bring all the ethnic/tribal propaganda in as much as he is a Muslim he is a liar and shouldn't be taken serious. Their religion permits them to lie to infidels...

Even if nobody is voting OBI, I will still vote for him. Please kindly check, those who voted FOR APC in 2015 and 2019 lost one or more of their relatives to Fulani herdsmen killings case study of states of the middle belt region and most south western states! My people now live in IDP's cos of the choices they made in Buhari. The Igbos that didn't vote Buhari do not live in IDP camps. God has a way He protects people that do the right thing

Hope you won’t wail over tinubu winning? Your wrong decision may be leading him to victory

During my PhD. My advisor will always say and I quote "do the right thing and even if you fail you'll be consoled that you did the right thing" and finally he always summaries his teachings saying "they is power in doing the right thing"

Wrong choices affect those that made them the most. Case study of Nigeria!

Take your time and profile states that voted for Buhari in 2015 and 2019 compare the poverty indices and standard of living then kindly compare them to those that didn't vote for Buhari, then you'll understand why Igbo should as a matter of providence continue voting the right candidate irrespective of any sentiment.

Note: Those that wailed the most are people who bring in bad leaders. Case study of northern Nigeria, South western Nigeria and you. Your definition of politics is why I think the Igbos have excelled beyond expectations. Nigeria have denied the Igbos a chance of chosing credible leaders for themselves for long. Case study of rigging in Abia state that birthed ikpazu, Kalu et al. and supreme court governor! I am happy they'll be participating actively for the first time in several years because of the credibility of IREV and BVAS. I think Igbos like my people in Afenifere are built in justice, equity and credibility

My verdict: 1) Igbos are not in Buhari's government will only profit the elites and their children which most Igbos are non of them.
2) They're no federal presence in the southeast will also affect the elites who use their companies to win these contracts and probably, if not always do substandard projects
3) Tinubu Muslim-Muslim ticket will enforce jihad in the North and southwest that's why I am actually voting OBI. SE/SS are 98% christians and won't experience the jihad, moreover, Igbos presently have an ethnic/regional militia so they're protected from external invaders
4) I know you're scared that Tinubu's victory will not favor your family but never mind, Jagaban works with corrupt politicians, so tell your dad/mum to embrace corruption more
5) presently, the only one wailing is you and I understand your fears. Enriching your elite family does not translate to Igbos participating in politics. If your papa get appointed into Atiku's govt it doesn't affect Emeka from orlu or Ibiam from Afikpo.

My point: Ensure that you rally round your family to vote Atiku while you allow those whom your family for once never cared about to vote their conscience and "enjoy the power in doing the right thing"

My advice: Wail but don't be too hard on yourself.

How is that your problem?

It should be his problem, since his candidate lacks the credibility to win a free and fair election. Moreover, Tinubu is banking on Northern illiteracy to win 2023 elections. So, anything negative about Nigeria will be exploited by APC but since we have Atiku and Kwankwaso counting on the same negative attribute to win too, their manipulation may not work and even if it works both NNPP and PDP will share in it leaving them with the smallest share of the northern voting population. I thank God for the literacy of the South!

Forget about enemity.

This is politics, you support the side you believe will win. Not being emotional.

Tinubu will win, it’s the reality on ground and Rivers people must align with the winning team.

Who will vote for Igbo man? South West? North? Even South South is divided.

Omo Igbo can’t be president now. Our northerners up north are not well educated which is a set back for Igbo presidency

So, you and Tinubu are counting on the illiteracy of the north to win 2023 election meaning that you can't sell your candidate to the literate population of the north.

One thing common with APC supporters is their constant hope on manipulating negativities of Nigeria to win 2023. To you guys if Nigeria were to be a developed nation. Tinubu will lose woefully and may not even be on the ballot

Must it be Obi, vote a candidate with a christian VP. Shettima is an Islamic extremist, you know this, I know this too. A look at the graph of the bantu page explains exactly what I suppose is true. Yoruba Muslims are willing to vote only Muslims and not even a single vote for the only christian candidate among the top four contenders. To them a christian officially remains an infidel and his religion inferior. What will happen to Yoruba christians if Muslim extremist attacks them. Politics / To My Yoruba Brothers by Paulheyman: 7:54pm On Jan 07, 2023
To my Yoruba brethrens, the APC has done so much distasteful things to the Yorubas, for the first time in the history of the Yorubas, they are divided along religious line. The term "Yoruba Muslims" and "Yoruba christians" have been introduced and propagated by the APC and when deeply rooted will breed hatred among brethrens - the storyline of Afonja calls to mind.

The APC had options, Yorubas of repute amongst which was a professor and a vice president to a sitting president but what did they do, they rather opted for a Tinubu with baggages of questionable character and lifestyle. Even if it must be Jagaban must the choice of his running mate be a Muslim, even if it is a Muslim must it be a fanatic and a terrorist sympathizer like Shettima knowing fully well the implications and consequences of this to the Yorubas who are currently facing existential treat from Muslim terrorist invaders.

The rude testament of the MURIC leader (Ishaq Akintola - "Yoruba Muslims will not vote Yoruba Christians" ) and Islamic fundamentalist (Abdulmutallab Mohammed Auwal - who charged Muslims to consider the APC ticket as a jihad) further puts our Christian brothers into deep thoughts and further catalysis the hatred already existing deep inside them for the Islamic religion and a time will come when this will lead to an all out war between Yoruba Muslims and Yoruba christians. The question begging for an answer is

1) is one man's dream enough to divide Yorubas?
2) if there is an attack on any Yoruba village will Yoruba Muslims be willing to fight alongside Yoruba christians to protect the Yoruba territorial integrity considering that Muslim-Muslim ticket have been considered a jihad by Islamic fundamentalist/extremist?
3) The APC ticket came as a trojan gift: should Yorubas accept it and perish?
4) Yoruba christians have been victims of perpetual attack to the extent of a church being attacked. Are the christian Yorubas now the enemies of Muslim Yorubas? The APC have dealt a heavy blow on the much cherished Yoruba brotherhood
5) with the attitude of Jagaban towards the murder of the late Afenifere leader's daughter, will he protect the Yoruba interest if such a situation (killings) becomes rampant considering his quest to always align with the northern Muslims? - president Obasanjo comes to mind
6) According to Abdulmutallab Mohammed Auwal, who has charged Muslims to consider the APC ticket as a jihad i.e showing the supremacy of Islam over Christianity. Right before their eyes (Yoruba christians) their very own brothers (Yoruba Muslims) have been charged to either consider Christianity as an infidel and inferior religion that's Yoruba christians and their children all of a sudden are now infidels and inferior thus, death must be visited upon all infidels according to Islam. Is voting for APC enough for Yorubas to partake in the death of his own blood brothers?
7) must the Yorubas kill or sacrifice their own for the north to vote them?
8 ) With Fulani cattle breeders, MURIC and all other islamic extremist already exploiting the Muslim-muslim ticket, are the Yoruba christians safe?

Therefore, all well meaning Yorubas must work together to ensure that the Muslim-muslim ticket doesn't succeed irrespective of who is on it. Yorubas are facing an existential treat. Emi lo kan means Muslim-muslim ticket lo kan and will never be Yoruba lo kan!!. I cannot support that which will lead to the death of my brothers and further polarize the Yoruba love for his brothers

Career / Re: Switching From Chemistry To Chemical Engineering by Paulheyman: 1:37pm On Dec 17, 2022
I studied chemistry up to a PhD
My advice
1) Don't switch. Chemistry have greater prospects than chemical/petrochemical engineering combined
2) If you're interested in PG then go for a) organic chemistry b) inorganic chemistry c) environmental chemistry d) polymer chemistry e) physical chemistry
But preferably organic chemistry their prospects are pretty high
3) learn computational chemistry and its application in pharmacy, medicine, engineering and mathematics
4) As a young chemist, start preparing your BSc project for publication in top notch journals indexed in Scopus and/or WOS
5) Generally Nigeria doesn't have industries, so you didn't study Industrial chemistry to work in a country without industries. But you've countless opportunities abroad including free funded scholarships
6) if you're consistent, in 5yrs time you'll have a PhD and be entitled to numerous grants and postdoc fellowship abroad. As a research fellow you work less and earn more while your colleagues in medical profession works more to earn more
7) Chemistry is very lucrative but it requires absolute hard work at the initial stage. If you're passionate you'll go places. Most people into medical, health and pharmaceutical based profession can boast of getting employed sooner than you did but your career growth is pretty awesome and within a short period you'll catch up and overtake them.
cool A single grant can change your financial status for life
9) As a chemist, your closest friend should be your supervisor, they're in a better position to advise you
10) Studying chemistry in the university is something I never regretted.
With a PhD you can work in up to three universities (some as part time staff/adjunct professor). The problem is most chemist think that their BSc is enough, and that's where the regrets sets in

Testimony: I got a postdoc offer, still reconsidering it.

Bottom line: Don't switch. You'll neither be a chemist nor an engineer. You'll not be employed as a engineer nor be valued as a chemist. Someone that has a BSc and MSc in chemistry will be prioritize than you that have BSc chemistry, PGD and msc engineering. The PGD is just an education requirements and I don't think it qualifies you as an engineer nor a COREN member

Thesame crowd and campaign groups that attended Ondo rally will be in Ogun, Osun, Lagos, Ekiti...etc.

Percentage of the host state indigenes on campaign grounds is not upto 30% of the rented crowds u see at state political campaigns...you can take dis to the bank.
