Her mum died. Also (as shown on TV) the school in her village is not functional. Her dad wanted her to be educated.

The reality is that most kids sent to go live with relatives with the intention of getting better education most times don't get it but sadly get maltreated.

Giving out one's child at a tender age to go live with relatives is really not safe for the child's development. Telling some people to have the number of children they can comfortably cater for without depending on others, they feel insulted!
