nextstep: I dunno... you can go to your local Buka, and order a week's worth of soup, stew, meat, fried fish, etc. Store in freezer. All you need to do is boil rice, eba, yam, and eat with the soup as needed.
Much much cheaper than the costs and headaches of courting, wedding, and maintaining a wife. There's no stress or attitude that comes with the meal, you can go to a different buka without wahala, and you're not spending money to feed the cook But you know say when such guys get to their 40s and still going to buka to bulk buy food, even those sales girls there go dey use style dey yab am. |

SGANIVA: What if the man is very influencial , people like Tonimas oil and gas, ojukwu's , Young, mko abiola etc will the influence of the first sons ever be inconsequential ? My focus has been in general terms whether the man was influential or not. Most of those names you mentioned, how many of them has their first sons been exceptional after the demise of their father? I know someone (Igbo) who did both his traditional and Church wedding without the involvement of his elder brother (first son) who had always threatened the younger brother that he would not as the first son (as their parents have passed on) inform their kinsmen and organize them to go see the younger brother's bride to be family. The other siblings and some kinsmen overruled the first son' irrational mind and also with the support of their ikwu nne (maternal side) the younger brother got married both traditionally and in Church without the presence of the first son. People are becoming less obligated to birth order rather who the individual is, the positive impact the individual is generating etc. |

Family › Re: Who Will Be Your First Son by Pavore9: 7:08am On May 19, 2021 |
SGANIVA: first son really means a lot, your first son is your representative when you are not around or gone at large , with many responsibilities, power and authority in the family That belief is gradually dissolving with the present dispersal of families, where family members migrate to different destinations and most times when the parents that band the siblings together have passed on and wealth/properties have been shared (if any) the siblings tend to focus on their own nuclear families building their own legacy for their own children, that one's elder brother is their father's first son increasingly becomes less consequential to them as they longer live in a physical communal setting where they need to continually defer to him on issues or the kinsmen summoning them to reprimand them for disregarding the "authority' of the first son. It is even worse when they regard their late father as not being a good and responsible father to them, what does the first son want to "represent"? |

OP, since you insisted on Unilag and by the 2nd year you didn't gain admission into the school, why didn't you opt for Unilag's Distance Learning Institute (DLI) where B.Sc. Business Administration is part of the programme being offered, where you get to work and attend lectures weekends?
I know a guy who opted for Unilag's DLI by the third year as he couldn't continue wasting his time and pursued B.Sc. Economics, he finished 2018 and moved to the UK last year for postgraduate studies in Risk Management at the De Montfort University.
No one should gamble their life doing what you did, be flexible. |

Friend22: See,as far as a Muslim is concerned barrier such as region, state, country, race and ethnicity is not even there. All those are just figment in the imagination of those who see those as identifiers as what matters.
A Muslim in the doldrums of a remote village in Tajikistan is more dear to me than a blood brother who is not a Muslim. That's what my religion teaches me .
We Muslims all over the universe(whether in Mars,Jupiter, Saturn ,Uranus or anywhere) see ourselves as one indivisible body. One UMMAH(COMMUNITY)!
Whatever affects a Muslim in Borno,Kano,Bombay, Chad it also affects me.
What's even my business with a proscribed group and their leader who even curses Christians from his own region.
What's even my business with non muslim Ibo? The sectarian conflict between the Shia and Sunni Muslims is what? |
