Politics › Re: Opinion: The Timely Warning, Hijabophobia And LTV Intrigues – Jamiu Jaji by Pavore9: 2:48pm On Jan 21, 2017 |
The writer should direct the issue to LTV's management and stop roping Christianity into.
One the part "has LTV been handed over to a Christian Missionary establishment for exclusive control just as some schools were handed over in the past?" My question to the writer is the school handed over the Christian Missionary establishments set up with tax payers money?
One of the schools handed back to the Missionaries, happens to be my Alma mater. The secondary school was set up by Irish Nuns way back in 1969 and taken over by the Lagos State government during Jakande's tenure and as expected it was run down, it became a shadow of its old glory.
With Tinubu handing it back to the Catholic Church, the rightful owner, quality has been restored. To even gain admission there now is really tough as the Sisters managing the school have set standards. Tinubu did not "dash" Christians schools but handed them back to the rightful owners! |

seguno2: We understand each other. I presume that you would agree that the Nigerian context is abnormal and makes us a sub-optimal society, to put it mildly. Very abnormal I would say and thus we find ourselves in the quagmire we are in. How can someone go waste 4/5 years in a University to study what he or she has no interest in just because they are "tired" of staying at home because JAMB have been "jamming" them. Most young minds are tuned to the thought that it is only when they are through with their tertiary education can they think what to do with their lives! If one has an opportunity to pick up a skill before higher education, they should go for it and can always go for the degree later. I know a Nigerian here in Nairobi and he is into tailoring of Nigerian natives which is good money here. He is studying for his Bachelors in International business management in the evenings at a Private University and graduating after 2 years 8 months. |

seguno2: True but you should know that education is different from a certificate (of attendance?) In the Nigerian context, education is mostly tied to certificates. To expand my view, personally am into agriculture and got educated in diverse aspects of it learning on the farm and all who have requested my input in their projects have never asked for my certificate to verify my competence. |
