joinnow: We should just learn and tap from Kenya and how their govt, bank, international NGO gives grant and easy acess to loan to Kenya diary farm. Unfortunately many think this is about the Fulanis not thinking about the possibilities Dairy farming provides. Imagining a state like Ogun producing a million litre of milk daily where over 20 million Lagosians are nearby. I live in Nairobi and fresh pasteurized milk is one of the cheapest thing to buy. It is a beautiful sight seeing milk being transported in 30,000 litres tankers. |

princetom1: U aren't getting the point sir. Sell to local consumers first, fulfill ur obligation to ur country first. Let there be rice at a good price, this outsiders are just driving the prices of it high unnecessarily, and being the greedy Nigerians we are, money enslave our judgement. If am the government now, exportation will be banned for now and wen its finally ripped for exporting, it should be controlled, let there be a buying point, not just foreigners come into a farm in d north and negotiate. Why are we even producing this rice primarily? To be self sufficient. Lets see how it will panned out with dangote coming onboard Who enforces selling to local consumers first? Even in rural markets where rice is being milled and sold you need to experience the workings of the cartels there and just like you posted, money enslaves our judgement. Government prohibits the export of maize but it is leaving Nigeria on an hourly basis while the Customs who controls the borders collect their own share from the illegal enterprise. |

muller101: don't think much. They need steam engines. To power their mills from thermal energy generated when the husks are dumped into the boiler. That way they won't buy diesel to power their mills. Thinking if these you mentioned is being done because l have seem the husks being burnt as a waste by small rice mills while some heaped into flowing rivers. |
