@world1, yes there is more capacity training and lots of tv/radio programs focused on agriculture here as against Nigeria, foreigners see Nigeria as being more interested in their oil but am glad youths are showing more interest in agribusiness. |
TheUnbeatable:Bros, na you disappear o, l hope all is well at your end. |
l read this earlier and felt like sharing this as t may be of a help to many who are rearing rabbits and may be facing the challenge of selling off their matured stock or facing the underpricing of their stock. Isaac Muigai pushes a sharp knife back and forth, cutting through rabbit meat as Lilian Kanyingo holds it gently. They are deboning the rabbit before mincing its flesh for sausages, samosas and kebabs at the company they own and jointly run with Peter Njoroge in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. Their firm, Pillar Group Limited, buys the animals from farmers all over the country, and so far, it has direct contact with 382 of them. The firm trains the farmers in rabbit keeping, including how to construct cages, feeding, breeding, handling and care and later buys the animals. “We also tell them where to source the fastest-maturing breeds, best feeds, disease prevention and treatment,” Lilian, 27, who is in charge of training, says. The three have a rich experience in rabbit-keeping, having reared the animals before turning to value addition due to exploitation by middlemen. Muigai, Njoroge and Lilian met by chance during an agricultural exhibition in Wangige, Kiambu, in 2010, and formed the company to offer farmers a market. Their aim was to add value to rabbit meat and enable farmers earn more from their investment. “Then, a rabbit weighing at least 4kg would go for Sh200 (N400). We started buying each kilo at Sh500 (N1,000), which saw the same rabbit going for Sh2,000 (N4,000). This is after training our farmers on how to raise the animals free of charge,” Lilian says. They contributed Sh40,000 (N80,000) each from their savings to start the business. STUFFING MACHINE “In addition, we borrowed Sh215,000 (N430,000)from a bank that we used to buy sausage-making equipment, which included a mixer and stuffing machine. By the end of the year, we had repaid the loan.” They learned how to make rabbit meat products in a training organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in Kikuyu. The company’s products have been flying off supermarket shelves and currently, Pillar Group Limited is facing a shortage of rabbits. “Supermarkets in Nairobi have asked us to supply them (with sausage) but we cannot slaughter 200 rabbits daily as they requested since we don’t have enough. We slaughter 100 rabbits (per day),” Muigai says. The firm sells a sausage at Sh50 (N100) “Nothing goes to waste as we sell the skin to a group in Nyeri that makes shoes. We sell each rabbit skin at Sh200 (N400).” Presently, the firm buys rabbits from farmers across the country provided the animals are in good health. Pillar Group Limited recommends hybrid rabbits such as New Zealand White, California White, Chinchilla and the Checkered Giant because they give better yields. The firm’s brisk business has enabled the three investors to buy a vehicle that they use to buy and transport rabbits from all over the country. Attached are pictures of two of the owners of the rabbit sausage making company and rabbit sausage. N.B. l have bought a pack of their sausage which l fry for breakfast and l must say it tastes nice ![]()

Every man should work hard and smart to build his own name but today there are single guys who are hustling very hard to marry into an influencial family, for them it is sweeter to cruise along the BRT lane as against the other side of the road. |
Hmm.. |
lt makes no sense if the call rate is still high. |
Hian! Well lf Peter Obi can defect from APGA there is no other Nigerian politician who can not, lt is now just like d football transfer season, no politician wants to sit on d bench of any political party, every body wan to be in the starting 11. |
@Mangam,l feel your loss but do not give up, u have learnt what never to do again when u cultivate again. l watched an agric program where a woman lost 5 acres of strawberry farm to pests in 2013 but today she has learnt her lessons and now smiling. |

Almost! It was on the 10th of October 2013 and l was to be on an 1.30p.m flight to Nairobi (Kenya) vis Ethiopian Airline. l woke up 4.30a.m that morning with the hope of leaving home at about 9a.m so l can also pick up my yellow card from the Port Health officials at Muritala Mohammed International Airport lkeja before boarding as l couldn't meet up with picking it up the previous day and l had gotten my yellow card same day in my previous travel. lt seems like the devil and his in-laws came visiting me that day, the kind fever whey hit me that morning on top swollen gum l was already suffering from, l took everything that look like pain-killer...for where? lt was even suggested l should forget the flight as my health was more important. Me, dash Ethiopian airline my $780 ticket, no way! As at 11.45a.m l was still stuck along Anthony heading to Oshodi, got to the Airport around 12.50p.m, people were already checking in, told my brother to hold my luggage make l go collect my yellow card, on getting to the Port Health department, it seems the entire Lagos was traveling that day and needed Yellow card! It was no longer the usual pay N1000 and collect the yellow card without any syringe touching your body. That day you must chop needle before that Yellow card touch your hand, the crowd there was crazy and my flight was being announced, see high blood pressure. Rushed back to check in (l was the last person) l told one lady who works with the airline and was weighing my luggage that l neva get my yellow card she pitied me and said l should be bring N1.500 which l promptly handed over to her, l can not afford Kenyan immigration wahala for Nairobi. Within 5mins one guy came with a yellow card and filled my names in it and stamped it, Na so l collect yellow card! ![]() The lady had 'unofficially' collected N9k for the excess 20kg luggage l was traveling with and na egusi, ogbono, uha etc which were being eagerly awaited for by their owners in Nairobi, they had to 'clear it' from me before they collected their soup things l thank God l did not miss the flight though l did not eat throughout the flight only water & juice because of my swollen gum ![]() |

Submit salary? lf l hear! Though OP did not give details but it does not sound right! lf the husband feels the wife needs to contribute more to the home, he should sit down with the wife and reason it out, a husband should be a leader not a DICTATOR! |
Many rural areas where farming is the main stay and their cooking is done with firewood and this is gotten by cutting down trees, As the years roll by, the further they have to go to fetch it. Most of this rural dwellers are farmers who generate from their harvest such as rice husk, groundnut husk etc. This same waste can be re-generated to produce briquettes for cooking needs. For those who may choose to use rice husk which is generated in huge volume at rice mills and at most times burnt by mill owners who regard it as waste, For making briquettes which can used in places where hitherto charcoal or firewood is being used one only have to mix the rice husk or saw dust with used paper which would serve as a binder. To view the video of its production check it on www.koboideas..com

May the souls of all the Faithful departed, through the Mercy of God rest in peace, Amen. |
gab4u:No worry l will come to that. |
As per Kenya..... After paying for your new space and you have access to it, you need to fix the place up. Your initial basics should be a mattress, a bed, rubber carpet, camp gas with grill on it, cooking pots, buckets, boiling ring, utensils and an electric Iron. The table below shows pricing for the basics then you decide if you are in a position to scale up for example you may prefer getting a rug as against a rubber carpet. ITEM PRICE IN NAIRA Rubber carpet for a bedsitter N 2,300 Mattress (4ft by 6ft) N 9,000 Wooden bed (4ft by 6ft) N10,000 6kg camp gas with grill (already filled) N 9,000 Buckets/bowls N 1,500 Boiling ring N 1,900 Utensils & Cutlery N 4,000 Electric Iron N 2,400 Curtain N 2,400 All these listed is a guide to give an idea of their prices, All these are bought at the Supermarket except for the bed though it is also sold at the supermarket for a more higherprice than the one listed, so the N10,000 is you having a carpenter construct it for you and this should be ready in 48hrs. The four most popular supermarket chain stores in Kenya are Nakumatt, Uchumi,Ukwala and Tuskys. Based on personal shopping experience, Ukwala has the best bargain while Nakumatt js the most expensive, |
Hmm.. |
@gab4u, were u the one who posted coming to kenya to disvirgin his passport in january and came by Rwanda air? As for job, it is a no-no unless na one international organization hire u but Nigerians here are into business mostly the lgbo guys. |
As per Kenya.... On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Nairobi, you are shown where you will fill the immigration form and pay the $50 If you have not done so in Nigeria, Even if you have done so in Nigeria, it is at the airport the Visa sticker would be stamped. on arrival at the airport, with the Ebola issue you can conveniently say you are staying 2 weeks in Kenya as tourist though you are entitled to 90days. Make sure you have your yellow card with you before you see yourself being arranged for return journey to Nigeria! They will write 2 weeks on your visa, all you have to do is before the expiring date, go and have your visa extension and you get will get the remaining 10 weeks for $23 and also make sure you go to the office of the airline you flew in with to change your return date, l know Ethiopian Airline charges $25. After your initial 90days has expired you can extend your stay for another 90days with $23 Once your total stay has accumulated to 6 months (180days) the immigration law demands you leave Kenya. Which means you have to go out of Kenya and re-enter, so you will be issued a new Visa, so you can be issued a new 3 months stay after this expires, you extend for another 3 months and at the end of the 6 months you are expected to exit Kenya and re-enter to start the process all over again. l know Nigerians here do not exit to re-enter but please do not ask me how they go about it until you enter Kenya and use your own mouth and ask them, lol! l know a Nigerian who imports cars from Japan to Kenya and has lived in Nairobi for over 16yrs and married to a Kenyan woman, he is still extending his Visa every 3 months! ![]() If you have the resident permit (for workers) or the Kenyan Student Pass issued to foreign students who qualify you have no business with visa extensions nor the exit and re-enter policy. |
It depends on how much you are earning ![]() |
l hiss! |
Tundeiab:Govt needs to package agricultural ventures in videos 2 motivate Nigeria. |
cutieme:Women ke? l no dey operate within that radar! l will only give info on what l consider important when you enter Nairobi you fit go dey sleep for night clubs, that one no concern me! ![]() |
