richebony: I think I explained in the preceding text, the setTimeout function is asynchronous and isn't a native js function, and your callback function is invoked on a different execution context because its the libuv [c++] APIs that nodejs delegates the timer function to. So your try-catch block isn't bound to your callback function because it exists in a different execution context Nice |

chukwuebuka65: Are you even a developer? What then is the purpose of a try catch block? You asked it to console the error which it is clearly doing. I'm not a developer The block tried your faulty code it didn't work It then catch it and spilled the trash out to u |

But When I use postman it works. So I inspected the network tab of dev tools and discovered the request headers content type is text/plain instead of the application/json I set it to be. Why is this happening ? This is why ChatGpt was created |

I hate asking anyone for help.
I don't bother talking to people who I find useless or who I think can't hold a meaningful intellectual conversation.
I very much dislike approaching people first or making first conversation that doesn't involves me syking u.
It's not pride... actually people say I'm the best friend they ever had cause of my selfless nature.
I just don't see the point of meeting anyone first unless I look up to you.
I hate calling people on phone , I don't see the need
I just set out a date and group text close ones
I just tell them to imagine how people in far distance communicated when a telephone wasn't in existence.
I dislike calling my babe, if she doesn't call me always for me to pick when I feel like talking the relationship will end
I'm addicted to sex and feeling that comes with cuming
If I don't see a pussy, I masturbate until I find one.
I think I'm special... well I'm not... everyone somehow thinks same I've come to realize Lastly
I need to be high before I can communicate in a gathering of people I'm not familiar with.
I can only be loud and charismatic when I'm playing a video game |

YoungCabal: Lol! Just a lucky guy ? Nah! I will say a lucky genius. There were competing forums that died in the early days of nairaland. It might shock you to know, nairaland was loved back then so much, you see this design some of us hate ? People worshipped it and sang praises for it. All the other forums only worked on PC and lacked the features nairaland had back then, nairaland was the home of innovation, it had likes, followings and followers and worked well on mobile browsers.
Even mark zuckerberg success was based on luck but we can't say he was just lucky Well if you say so. Who am I even to judge the guy when I'm yet to build or do anything worthwhile or remarkable |

YoungCabal: Lol! Have you seen smf source code before ? I don't mean the current version, go and check version 1.x.x and see the logic and sql queries, so many builtin language function were lacking in php and mysql and had to be built by smf developers, you had to be really good to understand it, talk more of rewriting it in another language, it wasn't beans. As at that year, if we were to be honest, Seun was a genius. We just have to give him the credits. He just got lazy and refused to upgrade, that's the only valid reason to roast him. He's a lucky guy that's all. He was lucky enough to build Nairaland forum when very few people in Nigeria knew what the internet was. He was lucky to be a pioneer... unfortunately he's not a visionary or someone who can make something great. For almost 20 years now Nairaland have been stagnant... same progress from say 10 years ago... no major improvements or change, anyone can scrape every inch of data on Nairaland... anyone can create millions of accounts here, anyone can build a bot to spam everywhere... Nairaland is lucky not enough companies are interested in forum style business ... if not it would have been dead and buried long ago. |

YoungCabal: Hahaha ! Content moderation isn't easy to implement algorithmically even with machine learning. Hope you know that facebook and twitter and most of these social networking sites using AI employ hundreds of human moderators on the side to contain spam Is Nairaland not basic or not? Most of the algorithms Nairaland uses was shipped default in this script. Nairaland at its core is just a script even you can access and replicate. Most of the custom algorithms where created by Seun with his mediocre PHP and Python |

YoungCabal: You seem to underestimate nairaland a lot, nairaland has an antispam bot and also uses an algorithm to sort post on the trending page and other sections of the forum, ads on nairaland are also served and billed using an algorithm. In today's world an intermediate dev should be able to replicate that in a portfolio project. Anti spam bot that just check for duplicate comments or post on specific time intervals and ban. Some basic algorithm Very dull bot |

CodingSoft: You are the one talking garbage because you believe programming starts and end with the little you know. If you can start doing research it will help you to be enlightened.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Development_Method The Vienna Development Method (VDM) is one of the longest-established formal methods for the development of computer-based systems. Originating in work done at the IBM Laboratory Vienna [1] in the 1970s, it has grown to include a group of techniques and tools based on a formal specification language—the VDM Specification Language (VDM-SL). It has an extended form, VDM++, [2] which supports the modeling of object-oriented and concurrent systems. Support for VDM includes commercial and academic tools for analyzing models, including support for testing and proving properties of models and generating program code from validated VDM models. There is a history of industrial usage of VDM and its tools and a growing body of research in the formalism has led to notable contributions to the engineering of critical systems, compilers, concurrent systems and in logic for computer science. It was the way you mentioned a subset of areas in which software engineering is applicable and seemed to infer anyone who hasn't worked in those areas isn't a software engineer. |
