Most of those communities i know have never identified themselves as Igbo people (in a public interview) they always adress themselves as Igala speakers, but they usually take pride in being from Enugu, Anambra or Delta states, some of them claim Kogi. I have seen a family who are originally from Nzam, Anambra state, but they sometimes claim Kogi state because they are Igala speaking.
There are so many published news articles we have seen where people from Anambra, Enugu and Delta states identified themselves as Igala speakers, that is where i stand.

Like i said, its not as if i care about where Anioma people choose to belong, just that we are not blind, i have seen on nairaland, facebook and even physically where some Aniomas reject being called Igbo especially Ika and Ndokwa people. Like one public figure Emeka Esogbue i follow his write up, he is from Anioma and he claims his people are not Igbos.
Whatever they decide is good for them and not really my problem. If i have the time, maybe i will embark on a research on the cause for this identity crisis among these people.
Is Emeka Esogbue a normal human being? Here, you go again using one idiot to quantify a whole group of people.

Abegi. Shift!

No traditional leader or group of people from Kogi have ever come out in public to claim that they are Igbos or Igbo speaking people just like we heard from those Benue Igbo people, but times without number, people from Anambra, Delta, Enugu and Edo have come out to boldly identify themselves as Igalas or Igala speaking people.
We have to hear from the horse's mouth! Not making baseless speculations of bigotry.
How will you acknowledge that they are Igbos? Even if such people scream it with their last breath, you will never agree cause you are biased.

For the umpteenth time: Igbos never had a kingdom. So,the most potent Igbo cultural marker is the Igbo language.

Seriously i wonder why u guys love to claim everything to be igbo. This is why many minority tribes call u guys land grabbers.
Igbo is a large tribe and as such would have influenced their neighbouring minority tribes. Almost every one in Borno and Yobe states speak hausa as a 2nd language, due to hausa influence but hausas will not claim these places as hausa land.
Most Nupe and Bariba people in Kwara and Niger speak yoruba fluently (especially at the boundary areas) as an additional language, Ogori magongo people of Kogi answer mostly yoruba names and speak yoruba as an additional language but yorubas never claim them as part of yoruba land.

If most minority tribes around igbos adopt igbo as a second language, i think u guys should see it as a plus and an increasing territorial influence of your language and try to work out some sort of social integration with these tribes. This will not work by claiming these people who speak your language as Igbos. It will only lead to arguments.
Hausas never claim other northern minority groups as hausas, all they did was to find a general name AREWA which helped to define all northernerns.
That is what u igbos should do instead of looking for ways to claim or argue with your neighbouring minority tribes on tribal areas. Things like this will only make your minority neighbouring tribes dread and resent u the more.

I have seen igbos arguing with Edos here over Igbanke, i have seen u guys arguing here with ijaws over Opobo and Bonny, u guys arguing over Benue igbos, arguing over Anioma, Ikwerre and even Akwa Ibom and Cross river. This is just terrible.
How many times have u guys seen yorubas arguing with Nupes, Egbirras, Baribas, Edos, Ogoris e.t.c over tribal boundaries? We igalas even speak a yoruboid language which many yorubas can understand to an extent, but they have never claimed us.
Trash! Igalas in Anambra state are Igalas but Igbos in Kogi state are not Igbos.

Clap for yourself.

I have come to understand some people from Delta, Isoko, Urhobo...people from Kogi and Akwaibom share alot with the Igbo people>>THere is every tendency that 97% of them are igbo in maybe last 3 generations before now... Looking at them closely u call them igbo only for them to prove you wrong with their language.

I personally have been studying people now at my place of business, inshort whenever i come across people almost every day, i do ask them where they are from, but looking at the Igalas and URbobos and issokos, i tend to believe they are igbos until intentionally speaks igbo to them. it marvels that by facial identification they are 100% igbo but something just got wrong when it comes to language...

Alot happened after the Biafran war, alot, something tells me most of this confusion started when the NIgerian army terminated most of igbos from their ancestral ground thereby allowing close regions to claim this Lands.
I don't this is true. Many Africans look alike. Igbo homeland includes some places in Kogi,Benue,Edo,Cross river,Akwa Ibom,Delta,Rivers and the south eastern states.

This is why we have three major ethnic groups in Nigeria vis a viz Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.

The minorities have always been there.

Not particularly true, although am not from anambra most part of igbolands don't find it difficult understanding themselves with the exception of some dialects in Ebonyi...They might not be able to speak that particular dialects but they hear and compehend them
My brother I tire for some people. Most Igbo communities understand each other very well. Dialects does not necessarily impede mutual intelligibility.

Funny enough, most Nollywood movies now are acted in Delta state - in Asaba, Igbuzor etc. precisely.

All it takes is to pick one Ada from these towns who speaks the dialect fluently to be the lead actress in the movie and a movie with good story line is shot. Same in Ikwerre LGA, Ndoni/ONELGA, Etche/Omuma LGA etc. too. Regardless of current ethnic opinions, many Adas in such villages would be very happy to be called on to feature in a Nollywood movie. Many people want to be famous. When we begin to have Igbo language movies such as Ada Ndoni, Ada Igbuzor, Ada Ikwerre, Ada Asaba, Ada Ika etc. which becomes hit movies and spread and watched all over Igbo-speaking areas, Igbo speakers outside SE would gradually begin to feel included and part of Nollywood, an Igbo empire and 3rd largest in the whole world, and to Igbos in general. Thus, Igbos could use Nollywood as one instrument of uniting all Igbo-speaking peoples again.
You are only talking of an ideal situation. Movie producers do not care about Igbo unity. They are looking for naira my brother.

However, you can venture into movie production and implement your ideas.

Igboid:
You are dead wrong.

If we take it the way you did, then every Igbo town speaks it's own dialect. For example in Abia.

Umunneochi has three dialects distinct from each other: ie Nneato, Isuochi and Umuchieze dialects that is subdivided into Lekwesi, Lokpa ukwu, Lokpa nta, leru.

Isiukwuto has two dialects: Isiukwuato dialect and Uturu dialect.

Ohafia has two dialects: Ohafia proper and Abiriiba dialects.

Arochukwu has three dialects: Aro, Ihechiuowa and Abam dialects

Bende is as diverse as they come, we have Umunneato dialects, Okporoenyi has a hybrid dialect mixed with Aro as they are of Aro origin. We have Ugwueke, Loghum, Ahaba imenyi, etc.

Come to Umuahia, we have Ohuhu, Ibeku, and Old umuahia dialects.

Ikwuano has its own myriads of dialects

Ngwa is a dialect with many sub dialects

Asa and Ndoki dialects in. Ukwa area with their own myriads of dialects.

If you add them up. You should have like 20 dialects or more.

Ebonyi is not peculiar. What you see in Ebonyi is the norm.

Anambra has more than three dialects. I don't know how you arrived at that.

Orumba South has myriads of dialects, Ayamaelum LGA is like a world of it's own.

Orumba North, Aguata are also unique areas with different dialects. Ever listened to an Ekwulobia man speak before? Pleases in Aguata speak dialects that resemble those spoken in Northern Imo state.

How about Ihiala area, just look at the name, Ihiala, it already sounds Imo, as land in Anambra central areas is called Ana/ani and not Ali.

Nnewi south speak their own unique dialects that is laced with many Imo like words.
You are well traveled bro. I don't know why some people will stay in their various houses and conclude some rubbish.

Once again, good one sir!

To be honest, Onitsha Igbo should have been adopted as central Igbo dialect since it is not too hard for many other Igbos to speak. Notice that in most of our Igbo language movies, Onitsha or a mix of it is what is used to act our movies, except for dialect-specific ones showcasing the beauty of our unique Igbo dialects.

Come to think of it, while we have Ada Mbaise, Ada Mbano, Ada Nsukka, Ada Owerri, Ada Abakaliki etc. which are mostly SE Igbo dialects, Igbo language movie priducers should make movies too in Delta and Rivers Igbo dialects such as Ada Asaba, Ada Etche, Ada Agbor, Ada Ikwerre, Ada Ogwuashi-Ukwu etc.
How many people from the aforementioned towns are actively in movie production?

Some Nigerians are to a large extent ignorant of the ethnography of what is now called Nigeria, especially before the amalgamation of the British northern and southern protectorates.

Its unthinkable' that a supposedly educated young generation argue like dullards. States, regions, geopoloitical zones etc. are just what they are; administrative units and have nothing to do with ethnic delineation. The three major ethnic groups in Nigeria could be found outside their major zones. This is a well known fact in educated circles.
God bless you brother! Our educational system is pathetic or should I say many Nigerians are pathetic!
