My attention has been drawn to a story in ThisDay today which suggests I justified BH activities because of uneven distribution of resources and derivation funds to the Niger Delta. I haven't read the story (as I am just on way back from Davos) but would like to issue this clarification to this network:

1. The story was published by the FT of Friday 27th yesterday and can be read by anyone. It is straightforward and clearly there is some mischief here

2. The interview was done long before these bombings indeed part of it had been used in the FT review of Nigeria late last year

3. I have long held the view that ethnic and religious violence in Nigeria has its roots in poverty and deprivation and perceived marginalization. I always said this about the militancy in the delta while fully condemning it, the truth remains that militants tapped into a groundswell of frustration. In addressing that problem we have gone to an extreme now where the levels of poverty in the north are recreating the same conditions and results we saw in the delta

4. I made more or less the same points in interview with David Frost shown on Al Jazeera yesterday and today and I think to be repeated today and sunday.

I hope this clarifies the position and urge anyone interested to read the FT piece which in my view was harmless enough and reflected the substance of my thoughts on the matter-that poverty and marginalization create conditions of the possibility of radicalization.

Sanusi did not even make any attempt to condemn the actions of Boko Haram. Neither did he deny what was published by FT in his rejoinder. What does that tell us? That the man is part of the Northern elites who believe that they are superior to other components of Nigeria.
All hail Sanusi the Boko Haram spokesman! Try bring your Jihad to the South this time and face your peril. So, every state should take up arms to fight for more resources? It is now clear that the Northern elites are behind the senseless killings using Boko Haram as proxies.

It'll be a great opportunity to put faces to the chatnames. I have my own list of people I'll love to meet too especially the ladies (eyes rolling). Apart from the regular sessions of the AU, the AU leaders will also commission the new AU headquarters donated by China. That is a worrisome trend to me because China has successfully become the new imperialist.
Another worrisome trend is that Nigeria no longer command any respect in the AU and it started during Yar Adua days.I believe it is because foreigners and not Africans now determine what happens at the AU. As for the First Lady, I don't see why she needs 32 aides when all she will be doing is attending banquets and dinners. Oh, I forgot to add shopping! The governor of Niger state seems to be the most outspoken northern governor against boko haram.

I am not disappointed. I have always known him to be a tribal champion and boko haram collaborator. Those jubilating over his crusade against the bank chiefs would have seen clearly now. While I did not support the actions of Akingbola and Ibru, I had the feeling that Sanusi was carrying out a personal war against them.

I am utterly disgusted with this one-sided story. This is revisionism at work. The islamic North provoked the entire region by introducing sharia in a secular nation. Due to the widespread uproar against that decision by some Northern governors, they found company in the Ulamas, the Emirs and the jobless youths or almajiris.
They successfully mixed politics with religion, by using the militant youths (which later became Boko Haram) against their perceived political opponents till the monster could no longer be tamed.
Regardless of what one white witch wants us to believe, have they not been killing and violating rights Christians (southerners) in the North since they introduced Sharia?
The man who wrote that glowing tribute on Boko Haram ((Tilde) should be arrested by security forces. He seems to know more than what he is saying. Infact, he is a collaborator. The islamic North is full of religious zealots and fundamentalists (like Lamido Sanusi) who will not hesitate to terminate the lives of those opposed to their bigotry.

Armed Robbery is a capital offense and deserves capital punishment. But in this case, the guy would have been in jail for 10years which is enough to make someone penitent. I think they should set him free at this time.

I really support this. That is a challenge to Boko Haram and their sponsors especially the likes of Tambuwal and other northern elders asking government to give them amnesty.
If after this, they continue their mindless attacks, then nobody should blame the government for dealing ruthlessly with them.

I think it's time to stop apportioning blames and pick up our lives from this present moment.
For all their faults, the First Republic leaders were men of ideas and records of their parliamentary proceedings will readily attest to that. I will blame the January 15th Coupists for our woes. If they had allowed the politicians to resolve their differences politically.
That unnecessary intervention led to a counter-coup, civil war, prolonged military rules that bastardized all our institutions to the present undemocratic civilian rulers.
