Is an affidavit so weak? Affidavit is powerful but should be in a place it's required. Defection has procedures and I don't think affidavit is part of it while it's needed in charge of name n DOB |

Nothing should beat an affidavit from court. Can you screenshot of the constitution where affidavit is one of the procedures in defection? If affidavit is everything, then one can also go and get an affidavit to exonerate of crime and it stands. |

baralatie: No it does not work that way If you have a judgement against you in the lower courts and you appeal to a higher.the judgement of that lower court is paused /kept in the isolation chamber of wether it is true or not until the higher says so or not.therefore until that higher court gives its judgement.the judgement of that lower has got nothing on you Maybe you do more research and see exceptions. What you're saying is I a case of a court sacking an elected member like govs where they get a stay of execution yo remain on their seats until it ends in SC. When there's no stay of execution by the higher court, the judgement of the lower court is implemented immediately pending when the SC is done. |

I did confirmation of name, newspaper publication and affidavit from court more than a decade ago. Till today no firm has asked me to show them the publication, all they need is the affidavit Everything has procedures Change of name_ go to court n get affidavit and publish it in a newspaper Defection _resign from your party, proceed to your new party n get registered on their register and get their membership card. Can you boast of any of these? |

baralatie: how will they resume if already the judge has yet to rule on defection Will the judge now say the are not aware of the importance of defection of law members that they ruled on Why are you talking like this? Before the case reached to SC what was the last judgement? I mean the decision of the appeal court. That's the valid ruling until SC says maybe otherwise. So the case of who the authentic members are has been resolved and they're asked to resume sitting immediately. |

Fujiyama: ^^^ A lot of politicians (in both the legislature and the executive) from Southern Nigeria play this double tongued game, time and time again. They will never take a stand for what's right when it really matters but they have their media crew on speed dial to constantly mouth the usual nonsense about Northern Nigeria being the problem.
This tax reform bill matter is the latest example of this game of deceit by Southern governors. Their constituents need to open both their eyes and ears. They're there for themselves |
Politics › Re: Katsina Police Hisbah Bans Nightclubs by Peacecore: 9:59am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Fujiyama: ^^^ You still don't get my point.
Southern governors didn't publicly oppose the tax reform bill. They all remained silent while Northern governors publicly expressed their dissatisfaction. The bone of contention was the sharing formula (its always the sharing formula!) for VAT proceeds among other things.
So many Nigerians chewed out Northern governors for their opposition to a bill which is clearly better than the status quo...the assumption was that Southern governors would take a different position from their counterparts from the North. But when the time came to make their stand known to Nigerians, what did Southern governors do? They fully endorsed the position taken by Northern governors that the VAT distribution formula should essentially remain unchanged.
Contrast the behaviour of Southern governors today with the position they took in 2023 - they invigorated the Southern Governors Forum to counter the Northern Governors Forum in the run up to the elections. Late Akeredolu was very vocal about the presidency going to the South after Buhari's exit. If Southern Governors can find their voices when it comes to partisan politics, what is it that has rendered them speechless on a much more important matter? I got ur point now. The issue is that southern govs are always cowards except people like Wike and late Aketi |

Fujiyama: ^^^ Yes, governors from Northern Nigeria were initially the most vocal opponents of the bill. Naturally, there was a lot of criticism directed towards those governors in the press, on social media, on this very platform etc. But those who know how Nigeria really works simply smiled and waited for what was to come.
Don't ever lose sight of the point I have made on this thread. Governors from southern Nigeria eventually endorsed the position taken by their northern counterparts on the tax bill - and they all (northern and southern alike) agreed to a joint statement issued by the Nigerian Governors Forum.
Not one governor from southern Nigeria disassociated himself from the joint statement issued by all the governors. Not one. What does that tell you? come[/b]the only gov that spoke against the bill is Makinde and no one else. You can also show me where other govs spoke against it or went to a meeting to disagree with the president |

Fujiyama: ^^^ Well...the rest of Nigeria doesn't really mind. Never ever forget that the entire Nigeria Governors Forum fought against some key elements of the tax reform bill (one of the very, very few things BAT seems to have gotten right). Nigeria's governors (to the last man) are strongly in favour of retaining the current arrangement for VAT proceeds distribution - including that dubious, regressive 50% "equality" clause.
Your governor supports the status quo. That is the unfiltered, unvarnished truth. Nigerian govt is foolish to even allow a religious police operate with their on law. It was the northerners that were crying wolf against the bill |
