Politics / Bayelsa State Is In A Dire Financial Difficulty, Laments Decline In Revenue by peaceloveworld2: 3:38pm On Apr 30, 2016
The Bayelsa State Government on Wednesday appealed to the Federal Government for an extension of the moratorium on the deduction of loans and other financial obligations, owed by various the state governments.

The State Deputy Governor, Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, who made the appeal in Government House, Yenagoa, said the extension would enable the state governments to stabilise and tackle the issue of payment of workers’ salaries.

Lamenting the steady decline in the revenues from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), he disclosed that, contrary to expectations, the state government received only N2.4 billion for the month of March, despite the Federal Government’s declaration restraining FAAC from deducting loans.

The Deputy Governor, however, explained that the Federal Government moratorium does not affect other financial obligations, such as bond which deductions brought the net inflow of the state to about N1.1 billion even without the payment of salaries and overhead.

He said the state is in a dire financial difficulty, adding that, the state government would continue to interface with organised labour to proffer solutions to the problem of salary payment.

For the month of February, the Deputy Governor declared a gross of N6.3 billion comprising statutory allocation of N1.6 billion, derivation N3.7 billion, VAT N594m, exchange differentials N77.6 million.

Out of this amount, he said a total of N3.04 billion was deducted at source made up of bond deductions N1.2 billion, federal government restructured loan N741 million, three sets of deductions for overpayment about N749 million, commercial agriculture loan scheme one and two N162 million and repayment of Ekanga oil field N131million.

According to him, the total funds available for the month was N3.8 billion, which comprises net inflow to N2.9 billion and IGR for January N397 million.

On outflows, Rear Admiral Jonah said the state repaid a loan of N2.8 billion it obtained from banks to augment salary payment last year.

Politics / Bayelsa Economy Collapses: Eyewitness Account By Visiting Journalist by peaceloveworld2: 7:29pm On Apr 23, 2016
The economy of oil-rich Bayelsa State has collapsed, according to an award-winning journalist who just visited the state.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Olola Seun Akioye, who is based in Lagos, where he works for The Nation, painted the picture of a state which is at the verge of collapse following the apparent mismanagement of the windfall that came its way during the six-year reign of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as Nigeria’s President, which was cut short on May 29, 2015 following his loss of the March 28, 2015 presidential election to retired General Muhammdu Buhari of the then-opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). Bayelsa remains under the governorship of Hon. Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was recently sworn-in for a second four-year term after effectively fighting off the fierce challenge from his predecessor, Chief Timipre Sylva of APC.

Here is Mr. Akioye’s eyewitness account of the prevailing economic situation in Bayelsa, one of the leading oil-producing states in the country, by virtue of which it gets a bigger share of the country’s revenue than less blessed states: “Bayelsa is in trouble. The economy has fallen down. No sales and prices have crashed. Hotels are worst hit in Yenagoa, they beg you to stay, rooms that sold for N40k, pretty receptionists beg you to take it for N8k. They took my bag inside already. The voice of my hometown of ijebu said price it further to. N5k. Am not joking. In Atemer pepersoup joint on INEC road, am the lone diner. Everyone looked at me in amazement. We price everything and they beg you to take it. One man said his laundry business has not made 1k for a week. Car parks filled with cars, no money. Abuja park is deserted “nobody goes to Abuja since Goodluck lost election,” a man said. Clubs are deserted, even prostitutes (reputed for wearing only underwears) on hospital road are crying. Even thrift collectors are hit as civil servants (main stay of economy) have not been paid. A man told me: “We lost Abuja and then oil prices went down, our politicians mismanaged what was left, that’s why we are suffering.”

@ Avetura:

1. Isaac (40yrs) married Rebecca (3yrs) in your so-called Holy Bible
2. Joseph (90yrs) married Virgin Mary (10yrs) in your so-called Holy Bible. Mary gave birth to Jesus at the age of 12yrs before going on to have Joseph (jr), James, Jude and Simon.

Aren't Isaac and Joseph both paedophiles and isn't the bible in support of child marriage. So if Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a paedophile (Astagfirullahi), Isaac and Joseph also were.

Thank you once Chrisooblog.

Yes I am a Muslim and I am extremely proud of it.

Please visit the link below to read the text of the interview between Sheikh Ahmad and The PUNCH:
http://www.punchng.com/i-hold-yunusa-innocent-until-i-hear-from-him-sheikh-ahmad/

The questions from the PUNCH interviewers were extremely provocative but the Sheikh maintained uncommon calmness and unprecedented self-command.

From the leading questions asked by the bribe-hungry and hate-filled Punch journalists, they had already faith-tagged the alleged crime to Islam. Thankfully, they were disappointed as they went away from the interview with lorry-loads of lecture from the highly revered Sheikh Ahmad on what Islam stands for.

Their intent for the interview was to denigrate Islam but the Sheikh did not fall for it and instead, he successfully cleared all the lies that has been peddled from time immemorial by Pastors to hoodwink their church members. Example is the '77 virgins question', a very common lie used by the commercial-oriented pentecostal pastors of today to deceive their congregation and malign the image of Islam in their churches. Google is your friend. Quran is on the net. search for '77 virgins in the Quran' and tell me what you find.

When a thief is caught, let's assume he's a christian, does the press go to interview his pastor?

When the Ebonyi pastor raped his church member, did the press go to interview the head of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)?

Has the CAN president or secretary general been interviewed by the press on the cases of baby factory in the predominantly Christian and Catholic Igboland (South East). If all of this did not happen, why should a Sheikh be interviewed on the case of Yunusa, a muslim a who was alleged to have had carnal knowledge with a minor and forcefully converted her to Islam? These are the issues. This is what is called crime faith-tagging. Is that the way to go? Should we start with that?

To further buttress the assertion that this was a preconceived agenda, has Martin Ayankola gone to investigate the cases of Muslim children being forcefully converted to Christians at the Edo IDP camps with the rhetoric, “accept Jesus or you will go to hell”.

On this case alone, The PUNCH has interviewed two prominent Muslim clerics (Sheikh Ahmad and Prof Akintola of MURIC) yet not a single pastor or Adeboye has been interviewed on the crime committed by the abductors of the three Lagos School girls.

The Ese-Yunusa saga is purely a criminal matter and should be treated as such. When you start interviewing Sheikhs and other Islamic scholars, what are you implying?

Why will the press faith-tag Dasuki's case when it is common knowledge that Nigerian politicians except Buhari are all thieves? That is akin to setting your own roof on fire. Is it Badeh (Xtian), Dasuki (Muslim), Metuh (Xtian), Haliru (Muslim), Akpobolo NIMASA (Xtian) that you want to faith-tag. How many will you do? When a crime is common to both religions, attempting to faith-tag it is a fruitless exercise.

On a final note, why is such not happening among Yoruba Muslims or in Dubai or Saudi. If at all, the mouthpiece of extremist christinaity, The PUNCH wanted to tag, they should have gone to interview the Emir or Sultan of Sokoto because it is in the North that you have such cases and more importantly, the cases of VVF. Have you ever heard of child marriage or VVF in Yoruba land or among Yoruba muslims, in Dubai, Saudi and the like? This shows that it is purely a cultural affair, not religious.

Beyond this, it is an opportunity for the Muslims to put their house in order and push for the 18-year old minimum marriage age legislation as contained in the article in order to prevent the proliferation of Yerimas and Yunusas while the Northern governors invest more in education and enlightenment of their population.

Thank you once again Chrisooblog.

The injustice is that we have not heard from Yunusa. An accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty no matter the crime.

Put yourself is Yunusa's shoes. Should you just be taken to court and not interrogated.

As of today, no one has interrogated Yunusa. Is this a Christian agenda to denigrate Islam all along?

Is faith-tagging crime the way to go?

@ Chrisoblog

If the allegations against Yunusa are true, he must be prosecuted. That was clearly stated in the Pleass.

What we are saying or the purpose of teh article is that the generalization is by the Christian-dominated media is wrong. That is the issue here!. Why are is the baby factory phenomenon in Igboland not given a christian colouration? Why is the gay paeophila in the Vatican not given a Christian colouration|? Why was Reverend King and the Ebonyi pastor cases not given a religious colouration?

This is purely a criminal case and should be isolated as such and not used to malign the image of Islam. That is the issue here.

In the law court, the accused will take his plea and argue his case. For all we know these are all allegations. As I said earlier, if he is found guilty, he should be severely dealt with by the court. But for the gutter journalists at The PUNCH to portray the news with anti-Islamic intent is disgraceful. Put yourself in Yunusa's shoes, an allegation must still be substantiated with sufficient evidence. Why is Olisa Metuh, Badeh and Dasuki in court. Were we to follow your reasoning, then the are already guilty as charged. Please no double standard.

This is a democratic dispensation

It is clearly visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that the Ese Oruru Saga is a heavily biased and one-sided reportage by Martin Ayankola (see attached picture), the Editor of The PUNCH Newspapers, the official face of the Christian sponsored anti-Islamic narrative and the emerging No 1 enemy of Islam in Nigeria. As of today, NO ONE, has interrogated Yunusa to get his side of the story. What has happened to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty? Does an accused not have a right to fair hearing? Yet, Martin Ayankola, a supposed brown-envelope journalist has usurped the role of the Judiciary by using his newspaper to try, convict and prosecute Yunusa and heavily maligned the image of Islam. And like a rabid dog, the Christian dominated media lapped on to the story and began disparaging the image of Islam.

That the alleged and yet unproven crime of one individual will be sensationalized and commercialized for cheap pecuniary gains by generalizing it as an Islamic phenomenon in order to denigrate the religion of almost 2 billion Muslim faithful is the height of the most irresponsible, shallow and indolent journalism. Put differently, Ayankola descended to the cesspit of gutter journalism all in a bid to achieve the preconceived agenda of the Nigerian Christian Community (NCC) which is to paint the image of Islam in a bad light, demonize its adherents, fan the embers of disunity and ethno-religious crisis in an already fragile polity. To further confirm this assertion, no Nigerian Christian has distanced Islam from the alleged act of Yunusa which implies that it was a preconceived agenda. Afterall, silence means consent and tacit support. The only Nigerian who has done that is Professor Wole Soyinka who interestingly, is a known non-adherent of both Islam and Christianity. Is this the level to which religious bigotry fuelled by hate-filled fellows like Martin Ayankola has degenerated to? “But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners” (Quran 8:30)

‘Abduction’ or elopement

According to the one-sided reportage we have read, Yunusa was well known to the family of the Orurus. Ese herself confirmed that she used to ‘play’ with Yunusa and other customers of theirs who patronize them. The questions begging for answers among others therefore, are:
1. At what age was Ese deflowered and who was the first cradle robber?
2. Is Yunusa the first person to sleep with Ese and is Yunusa the only person she has ever slept with?
3. Were Yunusa and Ese already sexmates (repugnant) in Bayelsa before the sojourn to Kano?
4. Are any of Ese’s sister siblings, female friends and female colleagues virgins and is the under-age fornication a trend prominent among her colleagues in Bayelsa?
5. Does she and her friends sleep with Bayelsa boys or they only sleep with their Hausa customers?
6. When they got to Kano, did Yunusa sleep with her, was if forcefully, or by mutual consent?
For these questions to be answered, both of them should be placed face-to-face and interrogated by independent parties, not the likes of religious bigots and media outfits like Martin Ayankola and The PUNCH Newspapers respectively. With these, we shall be able to firmly establish if this is a case of ‘abduction’ by Yunusa or an elopement by the two lovers.

Yunusa’s alleged acts are very un-Islamic

Let’s even assume that the allegations are true, is Yunusa’s act in concurrence with the dictates of Islam? No! They are not un-Islamic for the following three reasons:
1. There are at least four conditions precedent to wedding or a Nikkah in Islam. They are the consent of the bride in question, consent of her parents or guardian, two witnesses and request for dower (the gift a bride requests from the groom). Were any of these conditions satisfied by Yunusa? Was there a Nikkah? So how could The PUNCH claim that Yunusa’s actions are Islamic? Allah said in the Glorious Quran, “O you who believe, you are forbidden to marry women against their will” (Quran 4:19)

2. Islam prohibits immoral sex (fornication and adultery) in all its ramifications. In actual fact, Islam encourages adherents to flee any signs of temptation. That is why in the Mosque and other Islamic gatherings, the men and women do not sit together so that unnecessary ‘body contact’ do not stir imaginations to begin to run wild? Allah said in the Glorious Quran, “The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah” (Quran 24:2)

3. Allah also said in the Glorious Quran that there is no compulsion in religion. “There shall be no compulsion in the acceptance of the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong” (Quran 2:256). So what doctrine or provisions is Yunusa following? If at all the allegation of forceful conversion is true because we have not heard Yunusa’s version of the story, can Yunusa be said to be following the provisions of the Glorious Quran as being speculated by The PUNCH?

Campaign of calumny and hypocrisy of Martin Ayankola and The PUNCH

Followers of the Ese Oruru Saga and readers of The PUNCH can testify to the intense and almost everyday maligning of the image of Islam by Martin Ayankola, the enemy of Islam and his newspaper, The PUNCH, the mouthpiece of Christian media pen terrorism. A look through The PUNCH magazine today shows that the papers is riddled with stories against Islam. The 2016 anti-Islamic agenda of The PUNCH is fast unfolding before our very eyes. The following are the some of the laundry list of anti-Islamic stories targeted at inciting the NCC against the Nigerian Muslim Community (NMC) currently trending in The PUNCH:

1. http://www.punchng.com/ig-shouldnt-have-waited-for-emir-before-freeing-ese-nigerians/
2. http://www.punchng.com/ig-girl-ese-and-the-culture-of-impunity/

6. http://www.punchng.com/buhari-plotting-turn-nigeria-islamic-country-fayose/
7. http://www.punchng.com/row-over-buharis-comment-on-israeli-palestinian-conflict/

What axe has Martin Ayankola got to grind with Islam? Who are his paymasters? What is their end goal? Are the agents of destruction and founders of Boko Haram (PDP) who lost out in the last general elections behind this? Is it an Igbo agenda or the agenda of the Yoruba Christians?

Double Standard (Ese Oruru versus the three Lagos School Girls)

We have observed that when a crime is committed and the alleged is a Muslim, the Nigerian media spearheaded by the hate-filled, extremist Christian and the insanely ethno-religiously bigoted enemy of Islam, Martin Ayankola and his Newspaper, The PUNCH will lap on to the story, sensationalize and commercialize it to achieved their permanent agenda to denigrate the Islamic faith. How could a bribe-hungry journalist rubbish a religion all in a bid to make a living? As Governor El-Rufai said recently, “what we cannot allow is the continuation of such blackmail, and the expectation that if you make yourself sufficiently obnoxious and incendiary the government will use public funds to settle you”. Is this how bad the worst President Nigeria ever had, Goodluck Jonathan, left the country such that the bribes paid to the pro-PDP PUNCH has finished and the magazine is desirous of patronage by the frugal Buhari administration?

But when the same crime is committed by a Christian, it is treated like an independent issue, with no references, overt or covert to Christianity. Nothing better evidences this than the recent abduction of three Lagos School Girls. Of the 12-member infamous abduction gang, three have been caught and their names are Emmanuel Arigidi, Lamamei and Clement Abanara Million. Even a teenager knows these are Christian names. Why didn’t Ayankola and The PUNCH shout to high heavens that the abductors are following the dictates of Christianity? The baby-factory phenomenon and kidnapping which have become stocks-in-trade of the South East (Igboland) has yet to be blamed on Christianity. The Baptist Church pastor, Camerius J. Mills who raped a 15-year old girl in the United Kingdom was not blamed on Christianity. The genocidal Uganda-based Christian terrorist group, Lord Resistance Army which uses the cross and hopes to establish a country run on the 10 commandments in the bible have been deliberately isolated from Christianity by the Nigerian and Western media. The recent case of the Ebonyi Pastor, David Ibe who raped a church member has yet to be blamed on Christianity. The case of gay paedophila tearing the Vatican apart has yet to be blamed on Christianity. The gay weddings in churches have yet to be blamed on Christianity. So much for the bible and Christianity! Why should Ese’s case be blamed on Islam by the Agent of Doom, Martin Ayankola?

Fanning the embers of discord and the ignoble quartet

With the way Ayankola and The PUNCH are going, they will tear this country apart. Like Adolf Hitler who rose to power on hate-filled anti-Semitic rhetoric and from which he eventually murdered 6 million Jews in the 1954 holocaust, same with the extremely hot-tempered, fraudster of a human and mentally unstable Donald Trump who is revving up anti-Hispanic, anti-African and anti-Muslim hate-filled campaign rhetorics, and yet same with the failure who calls himself Governor of Stomach Infrastructure (GSI), Ayodele Fayose who has started an anti-Islamic rhetoric, Ayankola is fast joining a dishonourable quartet who the world would eventually blame God for ever creating if they achieve their agenda. Does Ayankola want to turn this country to another Syria, Somalia or Sudan? Compare the campaign of hate against Islam by The PUNCH and the editorial (see below) by THISDAY Magazine who demonstrated rare professionalism by identifying the main issues in the Ese saga and not joining the bandwagon of extremist Christians like Martin Ayankola. http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/03/06/issues-in-ese-orurus-abduction/

Faith-based criminal tagging, way to go going forward?

Over the years, the NMC has endured and maintained dignified composure in the face of unwarranted provocation and attacks by the largely Christian Nigerian Media, Going forward, this will no longer be the case. We do not want to be pushed to the extent of combusting this country. Henceforth, we shall use all the means available to us to tag every criminal with their faith. We shall use the electronic and print media to highlight the faith of any criminal apprehended. With this, the NCC will have a taste of the fruit they have always served the NMC for decades. We shall use the social media platforms to highlight any crime committed by a Christian and quote supporting bible passages to drive home our point. Commit a crime and the image of your faith will be tarnished in the media. This generalization madness by the NCC has got to stop. The only way to stop it is for the NMC to respond in kind.

Pleas

In light of the above, the Nigerian Muslim Community (NCC) hereby call on:
1. the Presidency to wade into this matter by ordering a full scale and independent investigation into the Ese Oruru saga and expose all the truths and untruths. More importantly, Nigerians need to hear from Yunusa. If Yunusa is tried and convicted in a court of competent jurisdiction, he should be severely punished in line with the laws of land – No mercy!

2. the Presidency to commission an investigation into the cases of Muslim children being forcefully converted to Christians at the Edo IDP camps with the rhetoric, “accept Jesus or you will go to hell”

3. the Presidency, the National Assembly (NASS), the Ministers of Justice and Information, the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Union of Journalist to please call emerging Agent of Hate, and the official face of extremist Christian ideologies in Nigeria, Martin Ayankola and his ignominious newspaper, The PUNCH to order.

4. the owners of the The PUNCH Newspapers and the Aboderin family to salvage whatever is left of the magazine’s lost glory and completely evaporated objectivity by relieving Martin Ayankola of his job before his agenda to throw this country into an avoidable ethno-religious crisis becomes full blown

5. the government to investigate, arrest, and and prosecute Martin Ayankola because he is no different from Nnamdi Kanu and proscribe The PUNCH newspapers which is the print version of Radio Biafra in order to prevent other religious bigots masquerading as journalists and media outfits to follow the ignoble part of fuelling hate-filled narratives to achieve preconceived agenda and God forbid, throw Nigeria into a needless ethno-religious civil war.

6. the Nigerian Christian Community should immediately, please call their Agent of Doom to order and desist from making a living by promoting prejudice and specializing in incitement.

7. the NASS should pass a bill mandating the age of consent/marriage as 18 for both sexes. Though this may be unpopular with the likes of SanI Yerima who once forced the NASS to jettison such motion in the past, President Buhari, Senator Saraki and Speaker Dogara should demonstrate strong political will to push through the bill so as to prevent a recurrence of the Ese episode.

NSCIA, NASFAT, MURIC copied.
