I still dont understand the sense behind the high duty fee nigerians pay for cars 75% of the car's value, this is crazy coming from a country that can't boast of multiple car production or asembly plants. IMO before they can charge anything more than 20% the government should give toyota,nissan,honda,...... chance to bring their plant to 9ja entice them with low tax, in turn they will provide jobs and we have cars from nigeria at not too high cost for brand new then at that point if you want to buy from outside 9ja or buy luxury cay slam them with 75% duty fee.
on the second note policies like this just hurt deep to the bone, the low and middle class citizen will pay 75% duty while the few 10% rich and politicians buy overrated expensive cars and find their way around not paying I bet Okeowo will be calling his contacts to to go go around this issue instead of doing the needful

You have a point. If I recall correctly, it was a dash cam audio and video record of a conversation between a Uber taxi driver and the passenger that happened to be the Uber CEO was part of what made the CEO loose his job...

Thats why the legal team need to include a privacy waiver in the ToS (terms of service). I will hate to support a rapist but i have more hate for people raising false alarm calling out a rapist. Imagine after a long day of driving uber having to deal with this BS getting suspended ...... whatever transpire is between both of them it will unfair on the driver if he's the one telling the truth here because he has a lot to loose, integrity, daily bread, mental/ psychological torture while the lady will have to deal with mental/psychological torture. Its just a really nasty situation because people are not just honest by default.

Uber/Taxify should start encouraging dashcam in drivers cars, even though thats another privacy issue, but using the service will automatically have people sign waiver and the can should only be turned on when things start to escalate honestly they both have legit story but someone is definitely lying and that truth can be impossible to find out. If there was a dash cam the moment issue was escalating and driver was asking about destination he should be able to flip a button to record event of the moment thats covered under ToS for uber/taxify users they don't have to deal with this. Dashcam is as cheap as $16 USD

there are a thousand and one better ways to check up misdemeanors as this in advance countries, such that the driver even in the absence of security will respect himself.
but in 9ja, we find joy in treating one another like animals, well it's the language many understand anyways.

P.s: on my way to abj recently, close to sojis check point, I saw a man waving and smiling at every car passing, I was thinking he's a new intake in the madness industry because he was well dressed, not until I was told he's been compelled to do so by the soldiers, then I noticed his car was parked close by.
It was really an interesting sight to behold.

Its sick when police and soldiers think they are responsible to enforce law, they are the jury and the same time the judge. This should be a big task in police reform the most police should do is arrest and detain soldiers should not even have contact with civilians.
