Metro.co.uk reports about a bizarre death in Mexico city, where Julio Macias Gonzalez, aged 17, died while eating dinner with his family.

Love bites can be dangerous in exceptional cases
Before the incident the teen has spent the evening with his girlfriend, who is believed to give him a love bite in the heat of the moment.

As the boy developed sudden convulsions his parents called emergency services, but it was too late, he died at the scene.


Doctors believe that love bite broke blood vessels beneath the skin, formed a blood clot, which travelled to Julio’s brain and triggered the stroke.

Shortly afterwards the boy’s 24-year-old girlfriend vanished and is thought to be in hiding as Julio’s family are blaming her for his death.

Love bite also known as a hickey — a bruise caused by sucking or aggressively kissing another person’s flesh — can be dangerous in exceptional cases.

This is exactly what happened to Julio and a woman in New Zealand who was partially paralysed following a rare “hickey” phenomenon.

A similar incident happened to a young woman, who died after sharing a fatal goodnight kiss with her boyfriend.

Former Nigerian Joseph Yobo has revealed that his foundation would work hard to release as many inmates awaiting trial at the Ikoyi prisons in Lagos.

The ex Super Eagles captain made this revelation at the inauguration of Ikoyi Prisons Football Academy in Lagos stressing that he had never been to prisons in his life.

“I have never been to the prisons in my life, but on getting to Ikoyi prisons, I realised the importance to give hope and life to someone,” the former Everton man said.


“The Joseph Yobo Foundations is ready to do everything within it means to grant bail to as many as possible that are awaiting trial especially those in the facility’s football academy.

“I thought I will see persons looking very sad, but I saw them very happy, cheerful and looking very hopeful.

“I must indeed commend the authorities of the Nigerian Prisons service because from what I have seen on ground, the service is in the right track,” Yobo said

The former Everton of England defender added that his foundation would seek to secure the release of some inmates and train them in the academy.

“We want to give back to the society in our little way by giving hope to our brothers behind the bars and give them a second chance because no one is above mistake,” Yobo said

Joseph Yobo who retired in June 2014 is expected to play for Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kano Pillars as an ambassador.

Mr. Adeyanju, who is a young and rising bright star in Nigeria's political firmament, is absolutely right.
When the likes of Mrs. Oby Ezekwezile, the former Minister of Education and a hitherto great supporter and friend of the Buhari administration can publicly proclaim that
"President Buhari does not deserve to be President", then you know that this government has indeed gone beyond the pale, that the meltdown has started and that the corpses are beginning to smell.
Yet nothing is more indicative of the Federal Government's misplaced priorities and more reflective of their total and complete moral degeneration and psychotic paranoia than their behaviour towards the owner of a dog that was named Buhari. Consider the following.
One year and two months ago when President Goodluck Jonathan was still in power, a man named his goat "Goodluck Jonathan".
After doing so he took a picture of himself with the goat and proceeded to splash it all over Facebook and Twitter.
As insulting and provocative as this was, no-one in government raised an eyebrow and neither did President Jonathan take it in bad faith.
Again one year and two months ago whilst he was still in power President Goodluck Jonathan was maligned, misrepresented and labelled as being "clueless", "weak" and "incompetent" by many.
We took advantage of his meekness, decency, sense of restraint and humility and we took the basic freedoms that he gave us for granted. It didn't stop there.
On several occasions during the course of the 2015 presidential election campaign he was stoned in parts of the core north by violent groups of hungry-looking and thuggish almajiris whilst the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, was unfairly and cruelly portrayed as an illiterate, a drama queen, a clown and somethiing akin to a female court jester.
She was even referred to as a "hipoppotomos" by no less a person than our Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka whilst Jonathan himself was described as "a pig" by Mr. Japhet Omojuwa, a young and dynamic blogger and political commentator.
Yet despite all these unwarranted, crude and provocative insults the President did not lose his cool, the heavens did not fall and his government did not query, warn, threaten or arrest anyone.
One year and two months later things appear to be very different. Permit me to explain. A few days ago a man who named his dog "Buhari" was promptly arrested by the police and remanded in custody. His name is Joachim Chinakwe and he lives in Ogun state.
The police told members of an incredulous public that they took and kept Mr. Chinakwe in custody "for his own safety" and that they intended to arraign him in a court of law in a matter of days for having the effontry to name his dog "Buhari".
According to them, giving his dog that name was a provocative act that could have lead to an ethnic and religious conflict because Mr. Chinakwe's neighbours were Hausa-Fulani.
Apparantly those neighbours were not too happy with the name that he had given to the dog, in view of the fact that our President shares the same name, and therefore they threatened to kill him for it.
As far as I am aware this is the first time in the history of our country that anyone has been arrested simply because his dog shares the same name as our President.
It is also the first time that the victim of a serious crime and an individual whose life was threatened ended up being thrown behind bars whilst those that threatened to take that life ended up being the complainants in the case.
And all this because of a poor dog named Buhari which, we are told, had to be quietly put down and sent to the great beyond by its owner so that it couldn't be used as evidence against him in court!
The whole episode sounds like a second rate Hollywood script but sadly it really happened. I guess that is "Mai Chanji" for you.
Yet examples of the startling contrasts that exist between the Jonathan era and the one that we are in today refuse to abate.
Things have got so bad in this country that Mr. Ebube, a regular and increasingly influential commentator on Twitter, posted the following words on his handle yesterday. He wrote,
"Under this misfortune called APC people are arrested for writing about EFCC, naming a dog and criticising a governor".
I guess that is Mai Chanji for you. When one considers the economic situation things are even worse. Mr. Oshioke Audu, a public commentator, put it well when he posted the following words on Facebook. He wrote,
"Twenty years ago the South African economy was 7.5 times the size of the Nigerian one. At the end of 2012 the South African economy was only 1.4 times the size of the Nigerian one. By 2014 Nigeria officially became Africa's number one economy and the 23rd in the world. Then the APC took over with inept Buhari in 2015. By 2016, Nigeria is now the 40th world economy and the third in Africa".
What a tragedy! Yet no-one captures it better than a young and courageous politician from Anambra state by the name of Prince Henry Nwazuruahu Shield who wrote the following on Facbook:
"Recession does not speak politics. It is simply a result of one man's ignorance about the management of the economy. A robust economy benefits both APC supporters and PDP's. We need to agree that Buhari is the SOLE problem of Nigeria".
This insightful young man has hit the nail on the head. Permit me to conclude this contribution by touching on a matter that has brought many of us in the Christian community immense sorrow.

Southern Kaduna is on fire and its people are being slaughtered on a daily basis by blood-sucking Fulani herdsmen. Despite thils the Federal Government has done nothing to abate it or to bring the perpertrators to justice.
The truth is that those that commit these heinous crimes and their powerful rich friends that secretly buy them arms and that covertly encourage, protect and support them are nothing but the sons of Lucifer: they are the seed of Al Shaitan.
Pastor Luka Ubangari was one of their latest victims. His cold-blooded murder in southern Kaduna a few days ago by Fulani militants together with the slaying of Pastor Eunice Elisha by muslim fundamentalists in Kubwa, Abuja a few weeks back means that in the last 3 months no less than two Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastors have been butchered by islamist terrorists in northern Nigeria.
The government's slow response, irresponsible attitude and inexplicable refusal to clamp down on them has furthrr emboldened the Fulani terrorists and militants. This is dangerous and unacceptable.
The matter is simple: if the government does not do something fast to stem the tide of violence and provocative acts of terror, self-help and self-defence will be the only recourse left for those that are being subjected to genocide and ethnic cleansing.
I hope that Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye and Vice President (Pastor) Yemi Osinbajo, both of RCCG, both of whom I have immense respect and affection for, are taking note of this gruesome and tragic horror movie as it unfolds.
I hope that they are also taking note of the body count of Pastors and believers that is slowly building up.
Ditto my friend and brother Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Reign Assembly and Pastor Kumuyi of Deeper Life, both of whom have expressed their support for President Buhari in the last few days in spite of the sheer carnage that members of their wider flock and Christian brothers and sisters are being subjected to all over the country on a daily basis by the President's kinsmen.
Things have got so bad in this respect that Mr. Babatunde O. Gbadamosi, a Lagos-based businessman and social commentator, accurately reflected the mood of the nation and the growing anger when he wrote the following words on Facebook. He said,
"Buhari is condoning organised genocide in Nigeria. And Nigerians are too scared to speak out".
The latest development is that eight Christian polytechnic students were burnt alive in Zamfara state for allegedly making "blasphemous comments" against Prophet Mohammed. Clearly the madness is spreading.
I hate to say "I told you so" but I guess that we all have to live with the consequences of the choices that we make. That is "mai chanji".

Those amongst us that are still "too scared to speak out" and that live in a state of perpetual bondage and fear have much to learn from the words of Alexander the Great, one of the greatest kings and warriors that ever lived. He said "conquer your fears and you will live forever!"
The people of Nigeria have much to learn from those words.
May He that rules in the affairs of Heaven and earth and who holds the universe together by the power of His word arise in defence of His children.
May the souls of the servants of the Living God and Christian believers that were cut short by the agents of the evil one in the last few days and weeks rest in peace.
May the Lord God of Hosts, the Ancient of Days, the Man of War, the Seven-fold Spirit of the Living God and He that holds the four winds of the earth in the palm of His hand avenge them speedily.

I have just finished reading the statements of the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu in the PUNCH newspaper of August 20, 2016 that he and his Commision would not be able to “guarantee conclusive elections in 2019.” He engaged in some noxious inanities and obnoxious platitudes to justify the possibility of this ridiculous position. He, without any shame insisted in the statement that any attempt to give “such an assurance at this time would be to second guess the outcome of the election.”


Without any sense of accountability that reinforces his obvious lack of integrity, Professor Yakubu said inter alia:

“It is not strange. More than any commission in the history of the country, we have conducted more elections outside the context of general elections. People often forget that we had inconclusive elections in the past.”

This is an admission of incompetence of this commission under his leadership. Professor Yakubu might have issues of amnesia, but not all of us are inflicted with the same challenge. It is this same commission that conducted several elections outside the general elections under Professor Attahiru Jega and did so conclusively. I remembered several complaints by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wondering why they were losing elections under a PDP controlled Federal Government. But they could not make a good case against what Professor Jegga was doing. He made sure Nigeria had conclusive elections during general election and off general elections.

It is my view that Professor Yakubu potentially, is one of the enemies of Nigeria. He is bent on destroying this imperfect democracy that everyone is working hard to sustain. He is making it clear that he is not capable. He is saying it loud that he is not fit for this position. He is saying it loud that Nigeria is in danger and this democracy would hit the rocks if he continues to be in charge of INEC until 2019. Professor Yakubu is so shameless about his incompetence that it boggles the mind. He has to be removed using the instruments of the law now if he does not know how to resign.

He rhapsodized about the 1979 general elections tragedy to justify in advance what is to happen in 2019. Extricating himself from the restraints of rectitude, he exuded disrespect for the concerns, anxiety and aspiration of Nigerians when he added as follows:

“In recent times, we have had series of inconclusive elections. The governorship election in Bauchi State was inconclusive because of the post-election violence and INEC concluded the election after two weeks. The same thing happened in Imo; the first election that brought in Rochas Okorocha was inconclusive, until two weeks after. In 2015, Taraba, Abia and Imo were inconclusive and there were other constituency elections where elections inconclusive.”

As a Professor of Political History and International Studies, it is amazing that Professor Yakubu has no respect for logic in his approach to issues. If elections were held, the votes counted and results available, why not make that result available to the public rather than hold on to it on the excuse that it is “inconclusive.”? Is it not the refusal to make the result available that leads to violence in the first place? Is it not the suspicion that INEC was holding on to the result of election because a particularly preferred candidate did not win that causes “post election” violence? Is Professor Yakubu’s INEC not an active collaborator in fostering post election violence if it holds on to results that are available for whatever reasons?
It is an abdication of responsibility for Professor Yakubu to begin to suggest that 2019 elections would be “inconclusive.” What would he be doing as the Chairman of INEC between now and 2019 to ensure that the election is “conclusive”? If he has the knowledge that 2019 elections could be “inconclusive” what is he doing to rectify the variables and do a good job for Nigeria and her democracy? Is this not an obvious self disqualification for this responsibility?

It is my conviction that Professor Yakubu is flying a kite for 2019. He is trying to prepare Nigeria for the rigging that is about to take place in 2019. He is trying to set the table for the tragedy he and his sponsors are ready to inflict on Nigeria in 2019. Professor Yakubu is spilling the secret plans of his sponsors for 2019. The plan ought to be obvious to all Nigerians. When in 2019, President Buhari is voted out of power, they would come out and insist that it is an “inconclusive election.” This way, President Buhari would be able to remain in power technically after he has been rejected at the polls.

In 2019, Nigerians should be allowed to pass judgment on President Buhari “conclusively.” The election has to be free and fair. It is not negotiable. It has to be transparent. It also has to be conclusive. For the Chairman of INEC to suggest that the 2019 elections could be “inconclusive,” shows that he is not up to the task. He is incompetent. He is unsuitable. He has to quit now. He has to resign his post now. If he fails to resign, he must be impeached by the Senate.

It is not a secret that Nigeria has a lot of enemies. These enemies are not few and they amount to many among her citizens and those holding the helms of power. These enemies are allergic to facts and are cocooned from reality. Some of these enemies of Nigeria get to this stage unconsciously. Some of them are aware of what subsists, but for their selfish reason do not really care if Nigeria goes to the dogs. These enemies of Nigeria are those who despite all the empirical evidences that this Buhari Administration has failed are still plotting to sustain him in power beyond 2019. Professor Yakubu and his INEC are collaborators against the people of Nigeria in this heinous conspiracy.

President Buhari’s incompetence could not even be put in words. His sadism is becoming legendary. His nepotism has undermined the fight against corruption. He has inflicted economic woes on Nigeria. Social and religious tension is mounting across the country; there is increasing armed insurrection against the Nigerian state on daily basis and this President Buhari has no idea what to do about it.

In spite of all this, some politicians within the set up of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are still insisting that this country must have Mohammadu Buhari as its candidate for presidency in 2019? They strut the land with blatant arrogance; flagrant in their condescension and contemptuous in their insensitivities. They address Nigerians with a noxious sense of insouciance, suggesting that Nigerian really do not have a choice but must continue to carry this odious burden called Buhari.

This group of APC leaders, with a disturbing degree of coldness permeated with toxic tinges of sadism gallivants around the public space daring Nigerian to accept their fate or go to hell. They blame everyone but their Party. They reach deeper down beyond illogicality to defend the indefensible insulting the intelligence of suffering Nigerians. They look for any and whatever excuse to absolve the obvious debilitating ignorance of President Buhari. They blame others for President Buhari’s nauseating incompetence.

Professor Yakubu is in on a conspiracy. This is why he is indirectly telling Nigerians that the election in 2019 would not be free and fair. He is already preparing Nigerians to accept President Buhari despite all his glaring failures. Professor Yakubu is working hard to ensure that President Buhari would still remain in power technically beyond 2019. Nigerians who love their country should begin to speak out now. This is a deliberate plan. Professor Yakubu’s reach into the past in relation to 1979 is very ominous. It is dangerous.

Nigerians must begin to pay more than due attention to INEC and its commissioners at all levels. Nigerians must begin to scrutinize every action or inaction of INEC. All INEC’s acts of omission or commission must be examined. This INEC is compromised. It is no longer an impartial arbiter. Professor Yakubu has just undermined the remaining modicum of credibility that this INEC enjoys. We can no longer trust this INEC anymore.

All of us can blame President Goodluck Jonathan for everything, and he would deserve all the blames. But one thing separates him from other leaders in Nigerian history, his ruling party lost elections in several states while he was in control during off-general election years. He did not mess with the courts to give judgment in favour of his own party’s candidates. He never intervened which he could have done. And at the end when all was said and done, he gave us conclusive election that brought in the Buhari administration.

Nigerians must protect this democracy from the enemies of Nigeria, one of which Professor Yakubu potentially is. “Inconclusive elections” would not be acceptable in 2019. Nigerians ought not to accept such a travesty. They should not and would not accept such retrogression. Nigerians must not accept any “inconclusive” election from INEC. Those of use seeking the balkanization of the Nigerian State should not be given an excuse to further make our case. Every one of us must stand up now and defend this democracy or say bye-bye to Nigeria.

Two Ugandan TV presenters have been fired after being caught in a sextape scandal.

The TV personalities identified as Anne Nakawombe and Kevin Kaija, who both presented the programmes ‘Login’ and ‘Seeds of gold’ on the local TV station NTV, were seen having sex atop a table, blissfully unaware of the hidden camera filming them.

The pair took their time stripping and finally making love to what appeared to be a pornographic video playing (Kevin can be seen adjusting the volume on the TV)

Anne and Kevin have now been fired by their employers, after the tape made its way online.

Here’s a statement the management released following the incident:

“NTV Management announces that Anne Nakawombe and Kevin Kaija have ceased being employees of the station owing to gross misconduct. Anne has been the presenter of Login while Kevin worked on the Seeds of Gold program as a producer. These employees were found to be in breach of the NTV Employee Code of Conduct as stipulated in their terms of employment. At NTV, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of values and integrity in the workplace to ensure that we are a trusted and credible source of information and entertainment. We do not condone unethical or questionable moral character.”

Three days to the end of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Team Nigeria took delivery of the much awaited kits after most of the athletes had concluded their events with some already back to their bases.

A top official of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria who disclosed this to Sports Vanguard Thursday, said the kits which arrived Wednesday night would no longer serve any purpose because “most of the athletes have left after concluding their events”.

He added that “I have never experienced this in my years in sports. Money meant for the Games was held tightly by ministry officials and they were just releasing money piecemeal. We had to buy kits on our own while some athletes competed in their personal kits.”

It would be recalled that Team Nigeria had to resort to their warm-up track suits for the match past of the Opening Ceremony as the sports ministry claimed the official attire which was showcased before President Muhammadu Buhari during the hand-over ceremony in Abuja failed to arrive on time for the ceremony.

Nigerians who were alarmed by the embarrassing scenario condemned the ministry for the untidy handling of the athletes’ kits but the sports minister, Solomon Dalung, in defence of the ministry, tweeted with a post that even the South African contingent appeared at the Opening Ceremony in their track suits.

An alleged teenage sex worker in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, Cross River State has been hospitalized after she attempted to abort her pregnancy at home.

The girl believed to be between age 14 and 15 (name withheld) from Ketabebe Ijom, Ugep, had on Saturday drank three sachets of hypo bleach mixed with kerosene and illicit gin to abort her weeks old pregnancy.
According to information made available to CrossRiverWatch by an eyewitness, “in less than no time, she started having running stomach, soon her stomach became swollen. Immediately she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Ugep where it is believed she’s recuperating.”

The unnamed teenager is said to be a sex worker at “Under the Cocoa” brothel which was recently sacked by the vigilante group set up by the Obol Lopon of Ugep.

According to her, “My friend advised me to drink three hypo, mixed with kerosene to abort my pregnancy, she also told me that it worked for her own pregnancy”.

She further disclosed that she heeded her friends’ advice because she had no money for proper abortion. As at the time of filling this report she was still in the undisclosed hospital.
