Minjim: By now, governments are out of recession. It's only Nigerians that are still in recession. You think there is money? Why are they all finding difficult to pay the new minimum wage? Why have all or most state govts stopped paying state allawi for corpses? Why are there no state bursaries for tertiary institution students again like we used to know? We have wasteful govts from all levels who will rather empty CBN to buy votes and run down the economy. All these wastages like the exotic and new SUVs for the senators, security votes for the governors, and bogus allowances for presidency aren't because Nigeria or the govt has money, we are just naturally wasteful, wasting our meagre resources on unnecessary things. These things have repercussion, which is recession. When recession hits, it doesn't affect the governors or presidents, they still enjoy the expensive lifestyle all on the expense of the nation. It is the citizens that bear the the recession, which is reflected in limited or no job vacancies, failure of the govt to make appoint, either political or into civil service. Nigeria is living on gun powder and borrowed time |

pocohantas: Drivers own their cars, but they are driving for who? Themselves or UBER? Then the car is also for UBER - don't read that literally. No one knows the driver, it is UBER we know.
I am not arguing his right to end the trip or reject a trip. He took this one, he should disengage the rider in a very civil way, one that meets the standard.
Since you all know the option of reporting, he could have easily driven to the nearest police point and tell NPF to help him bring out the intruders.
You don't want the riders again? Fine! Just don't beat them! Is this difficult for you to understand?!!! Did UBER tell drivers they can flog riders once they don't want a trip again?
Did they? Then they should tell all of us and see how much this partnership would last. Just like you don't see uber cars on the platforms but indivual cars, that's why uber terms drivers and owners as partners, they are not workers or employees of uber, they partner with uber and hence they have a say or right, some of which is right to decline trip. It isn't uber car, despite driving ion uber platform, it is individual's car. If Uber had owned those cars amd had full right to force drivers take every trip, there wouldn't be "decline" option. Like I said earlier, I don't support violent drivers. But a lot of comments in this thread make it seem drivers are uber robots and can't end trip. When a driver ends trip, rider should know he/she has no business being in that car again. Move out and find another car, unless the driver owes you money, which I don't think happened here Even in cases when uber charges riders unjustly for canceled trip, they don't have case with drivers, they report to uber which then refunds them the charge by crediting their account with that amount for future trips. |

ornicus: He got the rider because he is on ubers platform. The rider did not call him personally. The rider used the uber app. LOL, this doesn't hold water. It is his car, he can decline an trip if he wants to and a driver declining a trio isn't a crime. Rider can't forcefully stay in a car once a trip is declined. The nest move is to respectfully come out of the car and go elsewhere. Uber itself doesn't mandate drivers to take every ride. There are several reasons u can decline a trip; if a rider poses a threats to you, if the roads to the destination are bad, if there are disagreements. Uber doesn't mandate you to take all trips. Drivers and car owners are partners with Ubers; they buy the cars with their money andtake the cars to the platform. They have always have right to reject every trip. Many of you don't even know how this uber/bolt thing work. That's why riders think they can insult drivers as they like. |
Travel › Re: Uber Driver Flogs Lady Out Of His Car (Video) by peeps4u: 10:39am On Sep 13, 2019 |
pocohantas: It is always "UBER's car". The trip was initiated via UBER.
The contest isn't if the trip has ended or not, but how he chose to disengage a passenger he picked on UBER's platform. He MUST disengage them in a manner that meets UBER's standard. After that, he can go offline, join those yellow cab babas and be his own boss.
Sometimes we get in our feelings and react as humans, but it takes nothing away from acceptable standards. It is not UBER's car. That's why drivers and owners are addressed as PARTNERS by uber/bolt. A driver has right to cancel or reject any trip and no rider has the right to remain in a car when the trip has been cancelled. If a rider feels the trip is unjustly cancelled, he or she should report officially to uber/bolt. Uber can't and doesn't force drivers to take every trip. Drivers own their cars and can reject and goddamn trip. Im not supporting violent drivers but riders should know where their rights end so they don't trespass. You can't remain in my car, if I were an uber driver, after I have cancelled the trip, insisting on sitting there after ordering you to leave......I will not beat you but I can drag such rider out myself if I can overpower him/her |

With the planned VAT increment to 7.2% (that is almost 50% increment from the current 5%), drivers and partners should tell bolt and uber deliberate on fare increment as soon as new VAT takes effect. |

What we knew, before democracy, was owing salary, and NLC and even NUT were strong then such that governors didn't want them to strike, they would be begging them. I remember Akande's famous statement then to NUT when they were on strike "E bawa be won, pe kan wole" meaning "Help us appeal to them to call off strike" |

stanuplane: I encountered them on that yaba axis last week Friday. My map lost GPS signal, started misbehaving and I ended up on a one way road. They intercepted me immediately and opened my car door before I had chance to lock it. The guy was talking to me like an angel. He asked if I ve being warned before for taking this one way and I told him no. He said then I don't have anything to be afraid of. I will just have to drive to their office with one of them to check if my no is in there system. If they don't find my no there, then I can go and I happily agreed. My riders( an old man and woman with their teenage daughter in front) begged them from now till eternity to let us go cos they are already very late for their engagement but they might as well be singing, so I agreed and drove off to their office like a good citizen to prove that my no is not in their system, but then an angel in the form of one guy around there who saw the whole thing happen frantically called my attention as i was about to drive off and told me in my native tongue(Igbo). He said "nwokem, isoro ndia ruo office ha, nwanne ha 'rie gi". Meaning "guy if you follow this ppl reach there office them go chop you die" immediately I heard that a tiny gunshot went off inside my head and my brain had to rest to Lagos Factory Settings. opisco01: Good Afternoon guys.
I’m new to this Uber Business. I would be glad if someone puts me through.
I want to know if it would be profitable to use my Lexus Es330 2004 model for uber. I plan to drive it myself.
If yes, how much should I expect to make weekly.
Thanks in anticipation of your responses. Let the veterans come to your aid. But I don't think such car is OK for a full time uber/bolt job, regardless the fact you're driving it yourself. The fuel consumption and maintenance cost might make the gains not worth it. I think it might be cool though if it's meant for occasional uber work; like weekend jobs. Let the the ogas patapata give you their more informed advice's. |

If we start listing all bad roads, then no-one will drive. But like someone said, the Mainland has most bad roads
Avoid Lagos Badagry expressway, especially if you're on rental I don't go to Alagbole and Akute. After that bridge is a disaster And so many others
But if you see a road that's impassable, just let your rider know.
If you want your car to last long most times, don't even consider rating. If them block you, go and unblock yourself again I never thought anyone would take a badagry express way request, the farthest anyone should go along that route is mile 2. I have never seen a road as bad as that. |

Billiodollars: Good morning Boss in the house. Please i need clarification on a few things. I just joined bolt/taxify PH yesterday and had a couple of rides. My first ride, the rider input a location and when we got there, it seems like its not where he wanted to go i.e he wasnt too familar with PHC well. I saw end trip but kept driving trying to help him locate were he wants to go. While doing that a new ride came in and i couldn't pick. It was later on the man described one landlark and i was able to know we were he meant to go. Miles behind me a diferent destination. In such situations, is there a place i can input his correct destination and continue his trip or change his destination? Or would he be the one to do so? My secind question for those on bolt, how do they charge drivers, how many % is their commission and how do they get it.
Thanks. Anticipating a response while i continue the hustle How is the ehailing picking up in abuja? |

If its not an executive hire, I see no wisdom in using a 4matic for uber or taxify.
Went to Agbara 2weeks ago, long story short, my car hasn't recovered since then.
I need a suspension specialist!!! From the lady's story on twitter yday, the young man just moved to Lagos with his family and using uber to familiarize with Lagos and get to know one or two persons. He's into interior decorations stuff. More like he's using the car to pass time and make earnings till he establishes his contacts and business in lag.
