Count me out of impeachment plot against Agboola – Akeredolu

For the umpteenth time, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has washed his hands clean of any impeachment plot against his Deputy, Agboola Ajayi.
Akeredolu said the Deputy Governor’s ranting over his alleged impeachment was borne out of his own shadows hunting him.
A Media Aide to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Allen Sowore had in an open letter to the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly claimed that a secret meeting was being conveyed to impeach Agboola Ajayi.
In a swift reaction yesterday by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo described the alleged impeachment plot as tissues of lies and misadventurous propaganda.
According to the Governor, “The totality of untruths previously marketed to oil the mis-steps is obviously hunting the man who had hyped himself out of relevance.
“It is perhaps, illogical that the Governor with minority in the Assembly will be inviting the Deputy Governor’s majority for what they feel appropriate for their imaginary thoughts.”
He said he had kept quiet to allow the lies of his adversaries to fight his battles on his behalf.
Agboola Ajayi recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Politics / Akeredolu Charges Firefighters On Service by Peezol: 3:16pm On Jun 29, 2020
Akeredolu charges firefighters on service

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has advised personnel within government fire-fighting agencies to always be proactive in the discharge of their services for prompt curtailment of fire disasters.
Governor Akeredolu gave the advice while receiving the State Controller of Federal Fire Service, Mr Cletus Marprare who came on a courtesy visit to him at the Government House in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.
Referring to a recent fire disaster in Akure that went out of control, Governor Akeredolu said it was unacceptable to claim that there was no water and as such urged fire-fighters to brace up to the challenges of their duties to ensure smoother fire service operations in the state.
The governor said despite current limited resources, his administration would reactivate more fire- fighting equipment for the use of the State Fire Service.
He said if not for restriction of movements occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, the state should have taken delivery of at least one sophisticated truck laden with latest fire-fighting apparatus following his intense discussions with the Controller General of Federal Fire Service, Dr Ibrahim Liman.
Earlier, Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Ondo State Command, Mr Cletus Marprare intimated the governor with constraints affecting the operations of the agency in the state.
While saying that prevention and timely response are critical factors in fire-fighting strategy, Mr Marprare said fire rescuing appliances were usually brought from neighbouring Osun State to combat fire outbreak in the state.
The Controller pleaded for a befitting office arena within the Central Business District of the State Capital in view of the fact that the present office of the agency in the state was making maneuvering of fire-fighting vehicles very difficult during emergencies.
He said the Federal Fire Service, Ondo State Command has well-trained and technically sound personnel capable of ensuring that citizens live a life devoid of fear and panic during fire outbreak.

Politics / Akeredolu Raises Alarm As COVID-19 Spreads To 13 Lgas …reported Cases Hit 1,052 by Peezol: 10:25am On Jun 24, 2020
Akeredolu raises alarm as COVID-19 spreads to 13 LGAs
…reported cases hit 1,052

Apparently disturbed by the latest spike in the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in Ondo state, the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has warned that the state might be forced to lockdown if the residents did not change their carefree attitudes to obey protocols for COVID-19 prevention.
This is coming as the state recorded a total of 154 cases as at Monday morning in 13 out of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Akeredolu who explained that the situation of the spread of coronavirus in the state has reached a state of emergency said although government did not want to lockdown the state for 14 days, but might be forced to do so if the people refuse to take simple but necessary action of self-protection by obeying and practising the basic national prevention and control protocols.

According to the Governor, as at Monday June 22nd, 1, 052 total cases have been reported with 1, 257 samples collected, while total confirmed cases have reached 154.
Total active cases on admission at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, IDH, are 71, total number of deaths is 18, just as 47 cases have been successfully treated and discharged.

The governor who spoke during the weekly press briefing on the latest spike in the spread of COVID–19 in the state, particularly expressed his displeasure over lackadaisical attitudes of the residents to the reality of the coronavirus pandemic, saying such poor attitudes portend serious danger to the safety of the people.

Akeredolu added that government is seriously concerned with this unpleasant trend and would invigorate its energy and resources to implement every measure to protect and preserve all residents of the state.

He listed the Local Government Areas with the confirmed cases to include: Akure South (68), Odigbo (9), Owo (6), Ose (3), Akure North (7), Ondo West (14), Okitipupa (35), Akoko South West (5), Akoko South East (1), Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo (1), Ifedore (3), Ilaje (1) and Ese Odo (1).
“As at 22nd June 2020, a total of 727 contacts of confirmed cases have been line-listed, 287 under follow-up and 440 have completed 14-days follow-up exercise.
“My people, make no mistake about it, COVID -19 is fully here with us and the reality today shows it is being dangerously spread within our communities and within the state from persons to persons. From the data reeled out above, it is not unexpected that those who came into contact with the earlier confirmed cases are the largest victims of COVID–19 infection currently.

“Government is seriously concerned about this disturbing record and trend, moreso that no end appears yet in sight. In fact, what seems to be in view is the undesirable increase in our vulnerability as a result of our deliberate non-challant attitude.
“The only solution, as I often say, is to take the very simple but necessary action of self-protection by obeying and practising the basic national prevention and control protocols.
“The point must be made again that what this spike is also showing us is the embarrassing fact that many people still do not believe that the virus exists, talk more of making conscious effort at prevention.
“Regrettably, our investigations and other unpalatable experiences still show apathy, disdain and neglect to the reality of COVID-19. Such attitude can only mean a neglect for the safety of our lives and those of our loved ones”, the Governor stressed.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Monday, June 8 2020, advised all members of the public who had recently patronised the fairly used fabric and shoes stalls at Oja Oba market in Akure, where the 41st case was picked up, to present themselves to health facilities for immediate testing and proper care.

It will be recalled that the 41st case, a female trader who was confirmed positive in Imo State, escaped isolation and sneaked into Ondo State, where she was tracked to the Oja-Oba market Akure, Akure South LGA where she sells fairly used fabrics and shoes.

Governor Akeredolu advised the people to call the Government toll-free numbers so as to get immediate help, adding that there is no shame in illness and there is no reproach in seeking and getting healing.

The Governor, who spoke during the weekly Press briefing on Covid-19 latest development in the state, said the state has recorded 19 new active cases in the last 12 days, as against the 24 cases announced as at 27th May.

He said the situation on ground calls for dire, swift and sustained measures, adding that Government will proceed to take all necessary steps to reverse the threat to the people of the state.

He said: “To this end, the following steps have been approved as our invigorated approach to the spread of the pandermic; All residents are encouraged to practise, more than before, social and physical distancing, use of facemasks, handwashing and travel restriction, All Premiership football viewing centres are hereby banned from operations until further notice.

“All religious organisations are to further ensure stringent implementation of the agreed guidelines for worship. All our earlier regulations about operations of the main and community markets will be revisited, in which case law enforcement agencies and the Governor's Task Force will ensure full enforcement.”

Governor Akeredolu also thanked all religious leaders in the state for their courage and noble efforts at enforcing the precautionary measures agreed upon before reopening the worship activities.

Politics / “ibo Eripato”: Olusola Oke Is Not Fit To Govern Ondo State. by Peezol: 7:24pm On Jun 07, 2020
In the year 2000 when Olusola Oke was nominated as the representative of Ondo State on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission,NDDC, the youths of Ilaje protested against his nomination owing to his corrupt nature. Despite the protest, Olusegun Obasanjo still went ahead and Olusola Oke emerged.

As if the youths were prophets, so many corrupt practices were perpetrated and that Board was enveloped in unprecedented corruption.

One of the numerous atrocities of Olusola Oke was fake water projects running to billions of naira. What Oke did was to award these water projects without project location. He called the project location as “Ibo eripato”. This community is non-existent, it is an imaginary location.

When prominent Ilaje sons and daughters got wind of this development, they wrote to the EFCC. After investigation, Olusola Oke was indicted by the financial watchdog.

That was the golden opportunity Ilaje had to have portable water, but Oke, out of greed squandered the opportunity. Today, Ilaje live on water and have no water to drink.

The question is that: if he could do this to his own people, what will he do when he comes to a larger picture? If Oke were the governor, he would have suggested to the Zenith back that the discovered N4.3b be shared between him and the bank.

Ondo 2020: I’m ready for APC Direct Primary or any other system —Akeredolu

Akeredolu Breaks Silence on Direct primary.

Ahead of the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo state, the incumbent Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the weekend declared that he will be ready for any mode of primary election that will use to pick the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the primaries slated for July 20.

The governor also dismissed insinuation that he is afraid of direct primary system, noting that most of those advocating or clamouring for the direct primary election do not even have structures to win any contest in the party.

Akeredolu who spoke in Akure, the state capital through the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, said he is popular and had performed well to win any mode of primary election conducted by the APC.

Some of the Governorship Aspirants in the state including Hon Isaacs Kekemeke and the Unity Forum leadership chaired by former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi had advocated the adoption direct primary system, claiming that it was a mode that will enable all APC members to choice the party’s candidate for the October 10 polls.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the governor, Ojogo flanked by other members of the governor’s media team, pointed out that it was strange that some of the party’s chieftains who are parading themselves as governorship aspirants would not obtain nomination form while others were only known on social media.

The National Secretariat of the APC said it was yet to take a final decision on the mode of primaries to adopt in picking its Ondo State governorship candidate while Direct primary had been approved for Edo governorship primary slated for June, 2020.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed the governorship elections in both Edo and Ondo states for September 19 and October 10, respectively.

Gov. Akeredolu Deserves A Second Term in Office to Sustain His Goodwill In Ondo State

You must have heard the saying that "Health is wealth"
We are in the era where Quality healthcare service delivery and innovation is becoming a highly defined option for those who are seeking new ways of reducing costs while also improving the quality of healthcare.

To this end, the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, believes that the provision of good health is a basic right of every citizen. It is on this premise, that the Governor formulated different policies aimed at boosting healthcare service delivery in Ondo State as promised in his 2016 campaign promises.

Without much ado, Governor Akeredolu signed into law, the establishment of the Ondo State Contributory Health Scheme, which covers free maternal and Under 5 Children healthcare services across the three senatorial districts of the state

Also, to ensure qualitative healthcare service delivery, this government procured medical equipments worth millions of naira as part of the move to boost health care delivery in the state.

Health Workers Recruitment! It would be on record that massive recruitment of health workers was done by Governor Akeredolu's administration in the bid to improve the diagnostic and therapeutic capacities of primary health system in the state.

Governor Akeredolu has gone as far as upgrading the general hospital Akure to a Teaching Hospital for the University of Medical science, Ondo City. This is geared towards training more hands for efficient and qualitative healthcare delivery in the State.

His unbridled quest to cater for the indigenes health problems has led to the construction of Ifon General Hospital with 300 bed space which will commence work in no distant time according to the Ondo state ministry of Works.

Moreover, the Governor while presenting his 2020 budget, to the state House of Assembly, promised to construct Sunshine Medical City in Akure within the space of 48 months. What do you think will happen when this is achieved? it implies more job creation for our Medical doctors, Nurses and other health professionals.

It will be a dishonourable thing for anyone to think otherwise when it comes to ensuring that this fine man with a clean record of selfless service to the good people of Ondo state gets a second term in office to sustain all his goodwill.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) is indeed the right man for this job and as such deserves one more term to sustain the redemption journey he has started in Ondo state.

Politics / Ondo 2020: Akeredolu Is The Man To Beat by Peezol: 5:50am On May 20, 2020
Ondo 2020: Akeredolu is The Man to Beat

By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye

Anyone who's familiar with the politics of Ondo State, at least since the return of democracy to the country in 1999, will readily agree that once it's election time, the pastime of those in the opposition and their allies is to cast aspersion on the image of the sitting governor with the sole aim of de-marketing him before the voting public. To the oppositionists, all is fair in war since politics is war by another means.

Going down the memory lane, the late governors Adebayo Adefarati and Dr Olusegun Agagu suffered from this peculiar fate. Dr Olusegun Mimiko survived the landmines in his attempt to seek a reelection in 2012. Will Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, survive his, come October, other things being equal? Of course, if the morning tells the day, Akeredolu will be reelected by the good people of the state based on his track records of sterling performance in the office.

Predictably, as the gubernatorial election in the state draws nigh, the familiar swords are out to butcher an elephant that is growing bigger in size, shape and virility everyday before the very eyes of his enemies who can no longer accommodate his intimidating presence. Salute to the political elephant whose robustness sends shivers down the spines of those who want him out of the way for no just cause!

Except for the tiny tribe of his detractors - within and without - whose number keeps shrinking by the second coupled with their paid hirelings within the social media circuit in the state, Akeredolu, warts and all, is the man to beat in the October governorship election. The possibility of him winning the election by a wide margin based on some informed polls and objective analysis of the political arithmetic in the state is the more reason his paperweight opponents have resorted to throwing any dirt in the sewage at the immaculate linen of the straight-talking and honest lawyer from Owo Kingdom.

But what exactly are the imaginary sins of Akeredolu? That he is his own man who is not beholden to any caucus except being a loyal and dutiful servant of the people who overwhelmingly elected him in 2016? How will the masses trade away a man who increased the internally generated revenue(IGR) of the state from its parlous state which was bequeathed to him by the preceding administration without overburdening the people of the state with multiple taxations as being experienced in some states of the federation? How did he do it? He simply blocked financial leakages, deployed sound financial reengineering of the revenue base of the Sunshine State and emplaced progressive fiscal policies through sound legislations. Before now, the state could not boast of an organized and centralized Internal Revenue Agency. The story has changed today.

With all humility, it won't be out of place to say that no Governor in the state in the last fifteen years or so has surpassed Akeredolu in terms of attracting foreign direct investment to the state. A typical example of this is the Liyin Industrial Hub that has begun operations in the state. The multiplier effects of the hub on the local economy of the state cannot be overemphasized. Aside generating massive job opportunities for qualified citizens of the state , the hub will also be contributing to the state's coffers in terms of tax payment and other legal remmittances.

By all accounts, the business climate in the state is clement because of the enabling environment provided by the state government. The enabling environment is a derivative of the relative stability experienced in the state, which, itself,is a product of the governor's passionate commitment to the security of lives and property of the people. No investor worth his money will invest in a state where there is instability and uncertainty.

It needs be stressed that the harmonious relationship between the government and the civil servants in the state is the quick and prompt payment of the salaries of the latter, even when it is occasionally inconvenient for the former due to fluctuations in revenue. To Governor Akeredolu, a labourer deserves his wages as at and when due and this he has consistently adhered to since the inception of his administration. In not too distant past, it was hell on earth for workers to get paid their salaries thus leading to frequent industrial actions which usually paralyzed socio-economic activities in the state. Governor Akeredolu knows and appreciates the essentiality of having a well-motivated and productive civil service for the actualization of his governance agenda. That exactly explains why he does not joke with their welfare and anything that will further enhance their productive capacities for the benefit of the state.

It's on record that the administration of Governor Akeredolu has invested heavily in infrastructural development of the state across board. This is anchored on the premise that critical infrastructures are vital to driving an inclusive organic economic growth and development. How exactly will businesses- short, medium, and long term- thrive in a state where there are no quality road networks or stable power supply? In spite of the fact that electricity generation and distribution are now concentrated in the private sector, the incumbent administration has been trying all it can do to ensure that every nook and cranny of the state is powered by harnessing the abundant solar resources the state is endowed with in conjunction with its rural electrification projects which fall within its powers. One more term for the administration will see everywhere lit up.

Ordinarily, were it not for the Governor's preference to creating more access to tertiary education in the state for the benefit of all, taking into cognizance lean financial resources, he would have streamlined the three state-owned universities into possibly two, at best. But he refused, notwithstanding the accompanying financial stress, because the more the number of educated citizens of the state, the better its labour force and human resources. Nothing compares to education. The administration has witnessed the renovation of over 850 primary schools in the state through the instrumentality of the State Universal Education Board(SuBEB). More schools will be renovated soon. A second term for Governor Akeredolu will take the state to a higher pedestal in the education sector.

Lest I forget, the argument in some uninformed quarters that the Governor is sectional and nepotistic in his distribution of appointments is a tissue of lies. An objective evaluation of the spread of statutory appointments in the state under the leadership of Governor Akeredolu shows without contradictions that he has been fair to all the three senatorial districts in the state. This is an administration where you need not have any godfather to be considered for an appointment. So long you are competent and believe in the philosophy of the Governor, chances are high that you will be given an appointment if there is a statutory need for it.

One significant strength of Governor Akeredolu is that he is forthright, blunt and brutally honest to a fault. He says it the way it is for he has no skeleton in his cupboard. Without a shadow of doubt, this has helped him to run an administration that is transparent and accountable in the last three years. Unfortunately, these same fine attributes of honesty, bluntness and forthrightness are what his petty critics and spineless traducers have misconstrued to be arrogance. Will anyone blame them? Well, they are used to be in bed with political dealers masquerading as leaders who revel in dishonesty and opacity.

Without much ado about nothing, the surest bet for the ruling All Progressives Congress to retain its political dominance in the state is to allow Governor Akeredolu run on its platform for a second term in office. All credible data point to the fact that he will defeat whoever the main opposition party, the People's Democratic Party, presents in the election. No rational coach changes a winning team especially when the captain of the team is the best one can have anywhere. You and I know who the captain is: that's the man whose admirers call Aketi. Whom God has blessed, no man can curse.

Politics / Leadership And Sustainable Development. by Peezol: 11:41am On Apr 08, 2020
Once again, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, has shown to the good people of Ondo State what a fine gentleman he is. One who has risen far above the waters of politics, which is majorly known for deceits and empty promises.
Through his activities, he has remained committed to exemplary governance and leadership in the state thereby setting the pace for others to follow.

One of the most celebrated character of a true Omoluabi within the Yoruba socio-cultural setting is the ability to make promises and stand by them. Arakunrin Akeredolu has shown repeatedly that his words are gold and the welfare of workers in the State remains one of the banes of his government.

Upon the inception of the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led government, he met pending salary arrears of seven months.

Instead of turning a blind eye to this, just as most incoming governments does (because they feel it's not their responsibility to pay a debt owed by the previous government).

Arakunrin understands the essence of continuity in governance, where one administration stops, it is the onus of the next to continue from there. True to his promise of clearing this debts owed by his predecessor, he has cleared them. This gave workers in the state so much joy even at this critical stage where the world economy has taken a hit because of the ravaging effects of Covid-19.

Workers in the state was delighted to have received these payments at this crucial time when prices of goods and services are on the rise due to the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This pandemic has led to the lockdown of many businesses, making certain goods and services hard to get.

Accolades must be given to the deserving ones, praise must be given to the worthy.

Sentiments apart good governance is made evident in thoughtful governments like this, one who chooses to relate with the realities of his people and will not shy away from doing the needful as at when due.

The Akeredolu led-administration has continued to place its workers at the fore front of his governance.

It will be recalled that Ondo State is one of the States in the Federation that is currently paying the new minimum wage.
