No fewer than 22,000 workers would be engaged in the proposed Deep Sea Port and other ongoing Developmental Projects in Ilaje local government Area of Ondo State. The laudable projects, when fully implemented, would tremendously better the lives and living standard of the people, especially the jobless youths in Ilaje and Ese- Odo (the Niger Delta region of Ondo State) and the state in general. Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Niger Delta Affairs, Prince Oyebo Aladetan gave the figure while addressing the people of Ilaje and Ese-Odo as well as traditional rulers and religious leaders who joined him in special prayers and thanksgiving service at the Holy Shelter Church of Zion, Igbokoda. According to a statement by the Media Officer to the Special Adviser, Goodluck Akinyomi, Aladetan enjoined the people of Ilajeland to be more grateful to the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for being committed to the development of Ilaje land and the people through the construction of a linking road of not more than 30 minutes drive from Ilaje to Lekki in Lagos State. This, according to the Special Adviser, would open Ilaje land to the business world thereby making Ilaje land part of commercial hub in the Niger Delta region of the country. Aladetan who described Governor Akeredolu as a Governor with vision, mission and a man of good plans informed the people that the ” talk and do ” Governor has judiciously used his wealth of experiences to device means in making sure the linking road from Araromi Seaside in Ilaje, Ondo to Lekki in Lagos State is constructed without further delay. He added that Governor Akeredolu has facilitated a synergy between the State and the Federal government through the Federal Ministry of Mine and Steel to carry out a comprehensive Scientific research and tests on the sharp sand at Aboto and Igbokoda communities in Ilaje local government area to ascertain its usefulness as raw material for the production of steel in Ajaokuta Steel Company. This, according to Aladetan, would further boost the economic value of the people in Ilaje and the State in general. He tasked the people to continue to pray for the Governor for God to give him more strength to accomplish the task. https://citadelng.com.ng/2019/11/27/deep-seaport-will-employ-not-less-than-22000-workers/

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted the recommendation of the National Caucus that President Muhammadu Buhari as Leader of the Party, constitutes a National Reconciliation Committee. The Standing Committee will be empowered to address grieviances of party members and resolve existing conflicts, all with a view to fostering unity and oneness within the party. This decision was one of the highlights of the APC NEC meeting held on Friday at the Party’s National Secretariat. In his address, President Buhari declared that he would not seek for a third term in office, having sworn to uphold the Constitution, which provides for two terms. The President equally charged all APC members, leaders and elected officials to reposition themselves in their respective constituencies so as to sustain the administration’s landmark legacies beyond 2023. The president said history would not be fair to members if the APC collapses after his second term. He said history will be fair to the APC if the Party remains strong and not only hold the centre but make gains. All APC members were also admonished to read the party’s constitution and abide by the provisions in it and ensure that they do not take the trust of their constituents for granted. President Buhari further tasked the nation’s elite to search their conscience whether they have been fair to the people, having watched in silence the frittering of the country’s resources during the 16-years inglorious reign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). President Buhari assured that the APC-led Federal Government would not relent in providing the enabling environment for Nigerians to thrive by continuously investing massively in the country’s infrastructural renewal in the road, rail and power sectors. The APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole gave a scorecard of the Party’s performances after the 2019 elections which saw the party win the presidential election, majority governoship elections and National/State Assembly seats. A major purposeful decision aimed at boosting the efficiency and productivity of public servants in Ondo State was recently taken and implemented by the government of Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN. Globally, efficient public service has been described as the engine room of result-oriented governments because of the critical role the sector plays in ensuring genuine and pragmatic policies are formulated and implemented in the best interest of the masses. Being a non-political entity, efficient public servants are duty bound to serve any government in power irrespective of the political party on whose platform the government wins elections. This accounts for the reason why the role of the robust public service in assisting the government in power cannot be overemphasized. So, when Governor Akeredolu assumed power on February 24, 2017, he inherited a distraught and humiliated public service whose morale was completely low. It is still fresh in the memory of the state public workforce that the seven months salaries were being owed them, coupled with their denial of other benefits such as promotions, capacity building through training and the refusal to grant them car loan by the immediate past administration. These trumatised them and thereby hindered their efficiency and productivity. But all those despair, painful and agonising experiences gave way to absolute ray of hope as Akeredolu put in place productive machinery to restore the lost glory and the dignity of the state public service. To the amazement of the state public servants, Akeredolu’s government defrayed six of the seven months salaries’ arrears he inherited from the immediate past administration, with a promise to pay the outstanding one month. It is on record that this singular decision eradicated the conflict and the confusion that characterised the state public service in the pre-Akeredolu administration. Also, records from Ondo State have shown that deserving 14,016 public servants cutting across all the self-accounting agencies, boards and parastatals of government were promoted with their full benefits paid between 2017 and 2018. Thus Akeredolu’s decision to fulfill his promise of making the welfare of the people of Ondo State one of the major priorities of his government has made the era of the delayed promotions and subsequent denial of other benefits things of the past in the state. This is besides the revolving car loan approved for the state civil servants by the current administration. The beneficiaries of the car loan cut across all the categories of workers in the state and as expected, the outcome of that superlative gesture is evidenced in the quality of the performance of the public servants in the Sunshine State. In what has been celebrated by many civil servants as “Beautiful End of the Year Package,” the Ondo State government also announced the promotion of 9,704 public servants in the recently-concluded 2019 promotion exercise. The Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Mr Afolabi Adewakun, who confirmed the latest promotion, added that three civil engineers at the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure were given special promotion for their outstanding performance. The promotion exercise, according to Adewakun, was part of Governor Akeredolu’s commitment to the welfare of the state public workforce. A total of 2,261 deserving civil servants were promoted based on the briefs forwarded to the Civil Service Commission by the Service Matters Department, Office of Establishments and Training, various ministries and extra-ministerial departments. Same exercise also took place in all self-accounting government agencies, boards and parastatals, where 7,443 officers were promoted. Followers of political events have attributed the quality and high number of infrastructural projected executed by the current administration to the cooperation of the public servants. The followers of the government’s activities, including critics, have confirmed that all the 18 local government areas of the state have benefited in no small measure from the current government. The observers are convinced that besides the over 1,000 public primary schools renovated with modern toilet and boreholes for more conducive and friendly learning across the 18 local government areas, many roads hitherto considered death trap such as Oke Alabojuto and others in the Northern Senatorial District of the state have been permanently fixed for the use of the people. The new initiative called “Kamomi Aketi” designed to provide potable water for the people of the state has ensured that over 1,000 dysfunstional boreholes have been rehabilitated to provide access to potable water. https://citadelng.com.ng/2019/11/22/akeredolu-boosts-the-efficiency-and-productivity-workers/

The wife of Ondo State Governor, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu -Akeredolu has again restated that she founded the Forum Of Wives Of State Officials (FOWOSO) in order to bring empowerment to women at the grassroots as against insinuations that it is an elitist platform. This assertion was made on behalf of the First Lady during a sensitisation visit to the management of Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC by the Chairman of the 2019 FOWOSO Summit, Mrs. Mercy Femi-Idris. According to her, FOWOSO has in the last two years empowered thousands of women most especially the less privileged across the 18 local government areas of the state. While emphasizing that through the programme, majority of masses have equipped themselves with skills and have also acquired business kits such as grinding machines, sewing machines, hair dryers, among others, Mrs. Akeredolu also affirmed that youths as well as the physically challenged were not left out as they were also empowered with laptops and wheel chairs across the 18 local governments irrespective of political affiliations. In his response, the Chairman, OSRC, Mr. Kunle Adebayo commended Mrs. Akeredolu for her giant strides in complimenting the efforts of the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, just as he honoured her with an Award for her Outstanding Performance saying all her programmes are genuinely conceived to impact lives as against propagandist agenda of many other wives of successive governors. Mr. Adebayo also used the opportunity to assure FOWOSO of adequate coverage of its forthcoming Summit. The Award for Outstanding Performance was received on behalf of the First Lady by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi who noted that the honour would spur Mrs. Akeredolu to do more. Mrs. Adeyemi while also highlighting some of the lined up activities for the Summit said the 2nd FOWOSO Summit with the theme, “Prioritising Women’s Health and Wellbeing in Nigeria” would kick off on December 4th and climax on the 5th of December, 2019 at the International Events Centre, The Dome, Akure. Other members of the committee on the team include the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr Wunmi Ilawole, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Magaret Atere and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilization from the three Senatorial Districts Mrs. Akeju (North) Mrs. Ronke Ojo (Central), Mrs. Morenike Alaka (South) and the Press Secretary to Her Excellency, Oluwatobiloba Fademi. https://citadelng.com.ng/2019/11/21/fowoso-is-not-an-elitist-platform-but-an-empowerment-program-for-rural-women-mrs-akeredolu/

The Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Afolabi Adewakun, who stated this on Tuesday, in Akure, added that three civil engineers at the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure were given special promotion for their outstanding performance. Mr Adewakun said the promotion exercise was part of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants in the state. He said a total of 2,261 deserving civil servants were promoted, based on the briefs forwarded to the commission by the service matters department, office of establishment and training, various ministries and extra-ministerial departments. Mr Adewakun said same exercise also took place in all self-accounting government agencies, boards and parastatals, where 7,443 officers were promoted. He further stated that 190 officers across various the civil service cadres had been given approval to retire either mandatorily or voluntarily after serving the state. The chairman said promotion was never automatic as being insinuated in some quarters, adding that only deserving officers benefitted from the exercise. “I wish to remark that the welfare of workers has continued to be on the front burner since the inception of this administration in February 2017 and that training and retraining programmes have engendered higher productivity, leading to better service delivery for the people of the state. “In the light of his worker-friendly disposition, Gov. Akeredolu graciously approved the special promotion of one grade level credit for three (3) deserving civil engineers at the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for carrying out extensive cost-saving road rehabilitation works across the state. “This is an indication that any outstanding performance will not go unnoticed and unrewarded by government. “In line with other statutory functions of the commission, five prospective applicants were recruited into areas of special needs, as approved by the governor; they have since resumed duties,” he said. Mr Adewakun added that some officers were not considered for promotion due to issues bordering on discipline, like financial embarrassment, prolonged absence from duty without official permission and general misconducts. “Sanctions such as reprimand, written warning and downgrading have been meted on erring officers. Some officers have also been placed on suspension, pending the final determination of their cases,” he said. Mr Adewakun urged the newly-promoted officers to reciprocate the gesture by being more productive, dedicated, diligent and absolutely loyal to the service. (NAN) Meanwhile, Mr Akeredolu on Tuesday approved the appointments of Ebenezer Adekusibe, Lulu Fawehinmi, Clement Dada, as senior special assistants and Peace Odili as special assistant to the governor. Olusegun Ajiboye, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Akure, the state capital. Mr Ajiboye said the appointments were with immediate effect. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Adekusibe was made Senior Special Assistant on Finance while Mr Fawehinmi was appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Strategic Communication. Similarly, Mr Dada was enlisted as Senior Special Assistant on Mobilisation and Mrs Odili made Special Assistant on Public Procurement. The new appointees were charged to see their appointments as a challenge to contribute their quota to the development of the state. “The governor wishes them success in their respective assignments,” Mr Ajiboye said. The Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN will on Thursday in Akure, the state capital receive the Project Implementation Plan for the proposed Ondo Deep Seaport from Ocean Infrastructure Management (OIM), a Spanish firm, and Franchise and Business Solutions Limited (FBS), its Nigerian partner. The plan, which will be presented to the Governor during a high-leveled interaction meeting on the seaport project, will spell out milestones and timelines for the completion of the multi-billion dollar project. Aina Egharevba, managing director/CEO of Amiable Consultancy and Logistics Services, consultant to the State Government on the port Project, said the deep seaport being championed by Akeredolu’s government, would open up the economy of Ondo State and create jobs for over 20,000 people in the coastal areas of the state. Egharevba, who is a former executive director, Marine and Operations of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), said some key milestones including the preparation of the port feasibility study; conducting preliminary surveys such as the bathymetric/hydrographic survey and geotechnical survey; soil resistivity test, Met-Ocean studies; and topographic survey for the deep seaport, have been successfully achieved. She said the feasibility study and conceptual master plan for the new port have been approved by the NPA. Egharevba said the Spanish team will also carry out a review of key project issues and establish common understanding of the project objectives with officials of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA). “After this meeting, we will be moving to the next crucial stage, which is the development of the Outline Business Case (OBC) and Final Business Case (FBC). We are committed to working with the Ondo State Government to realise the full vision of the Governor for the deep seaport,” she said. Recall that on a recent investment drive trip to The Netherlands with President Muhammadu Buhari, Akeredolu said the Ondo Deep Seaport project is the future of the state. “We are doing things for the next generation. We have started and there is no going back. The President has said most of the times that Ondo is the right place for a deep seaport. We should not play politics with everything. This is the best place to have a deep seaport,” he said. According to him, the state has the responsibility of preparing the ground and showing the feasibility and bankability of the project. “The Chinese, Dutch, and others are interested because this will be a West African port; not just for the country. It is not that we are looking for money to build a port but we are looking for investors willing to invest here,” the Governor had said in Akure during the presentation of the report of the consultants to the State executive council and stakeholders of the coastal communities earlier in the year.
