This is what u get when u come to NL expecting to hook up. Never a good Idea on this site. Take the most you can and leave the rest behind.

The atm here is not conducive for a true romantic experience b/w couples. At most what u get is a familial brother-sister kind of relationship which would make any thought of a canal affair incestous. There are websites for that purpose.

I knew the petty flirtation b/w the two will hit the rock sooner than later. My advice? Change usernames and enjoy the ride

@ Pennywise, I don't work for the civil service and i think you saying they should sack them is rather shallow and immature, The profession is a highly skilled one, Trust me you might be able to get the lower cadre doctors employed but the more experienced ones are not so easy to come by, How do you replace the vaccuum, For example my brother worked in Peadiatrics in one of the hospitals, You don't just get any doctor to work there because of the intricacies, calculations ffor drug doses/fact neonates can't talk, etc, Not just any doctor can work in peadiatrics unless you subscribe to wrong management, But again.people dont mind been fed with spoit yam, So i kind off agree with you , Sack them and see how that won't be a nail in the coffin of his political carreer, Silly unguarded statement from a druggie
I am not a druggie and I have no reason to be I assure you. You are obviously a frustrated good for nothing in the pay of Lagos health service.Indeed there are a good number of your type. Lazy, horrible work ethic, certified quack you compare your take home with what American doctors earn and u want to earn the same thing while living in Nigeria without due regard for anything. You want to live the good life but your game is not good enough to take the plunge.

U are obviously an old hand on NL on a mission with a new username. Your frustration only just began b/c in Lagos you have a governor who is determined to see your strike for what it is- cheap blackmail. The politicians are only testing the waters. Sack letters are already waiting for you. Since u cannot survive without Lagos state govt u are finished.

@reindeer

The UK has been good to you, pls stay there by all means. It is not same for most Nigerian docs going there these days. A lot will prefer to take Fashola's offer than be psychiatrists in London even if their pay is bigger.

The post-graduate colleges are turning out consultants everyday that will gladly fill posts if specialists chose to leave. But they wouldnt. The ones making the most noise are the junior to middle cadre opportunists who want to live like movie stars b/c they carry stetoscopes

doctors are professionals you sack them at people's peril.they have an association. all they'll do is to call on all doctors to reject Lagos state work.i was told Nigeria has less than 50000 practicing doctors for population of 150million(i.e 1:3000 doc to patients ratio).yet they are leaving in droves to Britain Australia and America. America with population of 300million has about 1million doctors (i.e ratio 1:300)even at this they are still absorbing more and paying them right.
Do you think all doctors in govt support this nonsense?

Anyway, i have to leave now

i am seeing people assuming doctors get 700,000,Pls someone show me the receipts! That amount has never been paid to any doctor and it just tells to the credibility of Fashola,  and his cohort Tinubu. At the person talking about Doctors in Ghana getting 800dollars in 2003 can u please do that maths?that is 100-120,000 monthly that is leaps and bounds over what doctors were collecting at the comensurate time in Nigeria, But you yourself dont have an understanding of the facts you are trying to put across, SAD, Very little comprehension skills,
"Seanot or what mess  you address your self by, Hate it or like it,Fashola would bend! His integrity is at stake!Again the government has not met the doctors demands, all the figures they  are spewing is Gibberish because even they can't provide proof.I am all for people demanding what is owed to them and the drugged up bully(Tinubu) should deal with it!
My dear friend if you think u struck gold with your letter of appointment into Lagos health service, you are wrong. Civil service is not for gold seekers. Take your search else where. with your superior comprehension skill I know u will understand me

The most logical thing is to declare all positions vacant. Striking doctors may be free to reapply
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by Pennywise(m): 7:01pm On Feb 25, 2011
reindeer,
You have to look at it along side the current cost of living in Nigeria, what other workers earn and what you are realistically capable of paying! Dont think other workers will to and sleep when u finish parceling these largese to doctors. Nurses the paramedical staff and other unrelated workers are waiting.

It is wrong to think the only way to succeed in private practice is to cut corners. Far from it. Those who do usually do not succeed. The truth remains if you are a paid employee of government do not expect to earn what those in private practice make b/c its a biz. U can succed or u can fail. No qualification truly prepares u for that

The fact remains that the govt has been more than generous. Any more concession could collapse an already defective system. They have shot themselves in the foot and public sentiments are already against them. They should be given an opportunity to return back to work failing which their position should be declared vacant. Applications will come from Nigerian doctors from all over the world
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by Pennywise(m): 6:27pm On Feb 25, 2011
Doctors can make these extraordinary demands because of the chaotic nature of entitlement and remuneration that exists in our structureless country. There are no yardstick for justifiable demand in Nigeria. We are supposed to be a federation but salaries are determined at the federal level and states are expected to comply.

700k per mth is too much for a salaried worker in a state civil service even if you are a doctor. If you want to make big money resign your appointment and do what the chief agitator has done: take your chance and become a lawmaker. Or may be go into private practice. There are a dozen other things u can do without causing unnecessary pain and misery. I say sack them. Other doctors will happily take their place-3 are awaiting for each one you sack. We have no shortage of them in Nigeria
Politics › Re: Tinubu Urges Fashola To Sack Striking Doctors by Pennywise(m): 4:38pm On Feb 25, 2011
An irresponsible federal govt caused this problem. The conmess pay structure has been largely ignored by all until lawmakers started awarding themselves fantastic and indefensible remuneration. Then it was no longer justifiable not to accede to doctors' demand.

Lagos doctors consequently began their own agitation b/c they dont see (rightly) why they should earn less than docs working in federal medical centers.

Of course if their demand is granted nurses, phamacies, lab techs etc will have to be given their largese followed by the non-medical workers. I doubt if there will be enough money to pay all the salaries let alone do anything else. Blame it on the national assembly and the figure head presidents we have been having lately

For the handful of scrupulous educated lawmakers in the National Assembly it must be a real ordeal to be associated with Bankole's house of rep. What a shameless bunch of arrogant thieving unintelligent buffoons.
