The “Mystic Meerkats” have predicted that England will win their Group G 2018 World Cup opener against Tunisia on Monday. Concise News gathered that the animals ran to a sweetcorn-packed log next to an England flag at the Drayton Manor Theme Park and Zoo in Staffordshire, England. However, the rest of the pack snubbed a similar log next to the banner of rivals Tunisia. “We’re delighted our big ’kats reckon the Three Lions will win,” said Laura Knowles, 30, keeper at London Zoo. “We’ve always thought they were psychic — they always know when feeding time is.” Recall that a deaf cat had predicted that Russia will win the opening game of the competition, a prediction which came through. https://www.concisenews.global/2018/06/18/mystic-meerkats-predict-winner-of-england-tunisia-clash/

Op, nice job but this is not the best you can get from my school. Take better shots next time to pull a positive image for the school. My UNIBEN is finer than this! |
safarigirl:Sorry, it's a wrong person. |
safarigirl:Lol |
safarigirl:Bro, that's is not true. In 2002, Argentina beat us in the opening game, same in 2010. Fast forward. 2014, we drew our first game 0 - 0 with Iran. |
PurplePatch:While not doubting Iwobi's contributions to the team, he still has a lot of growing up to do and can't be pegged on the same page with Moses. The Chelsea man, irrespective of how we look at it, remains one of Nigeria's hopes going into the competition. |

Mehdi Benatia The Juventus defender is the string that holds the defense for the Atlas Lions of Morocco. A former Bayern Munich star, the experienced defender is one of the key players the North Africans are looking up to to power their World Cup dream. During the last round of matches in Group C of the African World Cup qualifying series, Benatia, the skipper of the side, got a back-post finish from a corner kick against Ivory Coast (they won 2-0), to cement Morocco’s place in Russia. Benatia who won the double last term with his Italian side, Juventus, played at the 2012, 2013 and 2017 editions of the African Cup of Nations for the North Americans. At 31, the former Roma star has over 50 caps for Herve Renard’s charges after his debut on 19 November 2008 in a 3–0 friendly win over Zambia. “We already know that it’s going to be difficult,” the defender said as his country prepares for their first World Cup finals since 1998. “When you have the chance to participate in the World Cup, you want to play these kind of games, especially with Spain, which is the best team in the world […] It’s a pride and it’s a beautiful challenge.”

Wahbi Khazri Tunisia will go to Russia with the confidence that Wahbi Khazri brings his A-game to play at the competition. An attacking midfielder for French Ligue 1 side Rennes, Khazri was an outstanding bunch for the side during the 2017/18 term. He was also instrumental to the Carthage Eagles’ return to the global event where he grabbed a goal against Mauritania in Round 2 of the qualification race and the winner against Libya in November, 2016.

Sadio Mane In 2002, during their debut outing at the World Cup, it was El-Hadji Diouf that propelled the Lions of Teranga to the quarter-finals. 16 years later, and in their second outing, the hope of the nation (Senegal), lies on the shoulders of Sadio Mane who bagged 10 goals in the English Premier League and same number in the Champions League for Liverpool this past season. He made his debut for the West Africans in 2012 and has since then netted 14 goals in 51 games. “Poland, Japan, Colombia – that’s a tough group. But you have to believe in yourself and believe in what you are doing all the time,” Mane told the Daily Mirror. “You try to do the job all together and hopefully we will qualify from the group. Honestly, personally, I don’t know the word ‘pressure’ because I enjoy my job all the time. “The main man all the time is the Senegal team, which makes us really good.”

Victor Moses 32 games. 11 goals. 27 years! Those are the figures for Victor Moses in Super Eagles colours. The Chelsea man who had been in the football wilderness at club level until Antonio Conte gave him a lifeline during the 2016/2017 Premier League season, is perhaps, Nigeria’s greatest star going to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He bagged three goals in four games for the three-time African champions during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Aside his attacking threat, Moses is also an asset defending as he plays as a wing-back for the Blues. Since bursting onto the scene and winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations, the former England junior international brings talent, exposure and balance to the West Africans who are in Group D of the show with Argentina, Iceland and Croatia. Nigeria’s gaffer Gernot Rohr affirmed this when he described the former Liverpool man as “world class” and the “most impressive player in my team.” “He is a world-class player and you can rely on him any time and any moment he is playing,” said Rohr. “He is the most impressive player in my team. He is fast and I hope he will not get injured before the World Cup in Russia. I have absolute confidence in him.”

Mohamed Salah Following a sterling display in the Premier League during the last campaign, the former Chelsea man carries the burden of an Egyptian side that has not been at the World Cup since the 1990 edition in Italy. He netted 32 goals in the English topflight league but is in race against time for his side’s first game on Friday with Uruguay. Salah had picked up a shoulder injury during Liverpool’s 3-1 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid in May. During the qualifiers, he helped the Pharaohs with 5 goals and two assists. In the game against DR Congo, the 25-year-old slammed home a 95th minute penalty to hand the Egyptians a ticket to the competition. “Salah is the man behind our qualification to the World Cup,” Hazem Emam, who won the 1998 Nations Cup and 87 caps for Egypt, told BBC. “When we qualified in 1990, it was more of a team effort. This time, Salah was the leader of the whole campaign.” In fact, his home-town school had changed its name to Salah’s, just to honour the player.

Just as the 2018 Fifa World Cup begins in Russia, the hopes of Africa’s five teams at the competition hang squarely on the performances of some key players. Senegal, Nigeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco will be hanging a successful outing at the global soccer showpiece on the shoulders of some of their star players. This piece looks at five key players (one each for the continent’s representatives in Vladimir Putin’s country) who will carry their nation’s hopes at the tournament. https://www.concisenews.global/2018/06/14/5-african-stars-to-watch-out-for-at-2018-world-cup/ Lala, MYND44, please help push this to the front page. UNILAG has vowed to probe allegation of sexual harassment leveled against a professor in the institution by a female student. According to reports, the student, whose identify is still unknown, shared a story of the alleged molestation in the hands of her lecturer in the Department of English. ”I have been suffering this for months now. Whenever students go to his office for anything he is always trying to touch you. I took pictures of him on one of the days I entered his office. He has made molestation a part of him. I’m even scared for my life in UNILAG. That’s why I’m reaching out to you so he can be stopped,” she reportedly said. ”He is a profesor in the English department, Faculty of Arts. I am not his first victim. He does this all the time to students. I have completely given up when it comes to academics he has failed me on tests before. When I talked to him concerning it he told me I should know what to do I am an adult. I feel so dirty for even allowing such an old man touch me. But he doesn’t even care.” This comes barely one month after Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy, Ile-Ife, was embroiled in a ‘sex for marks’ scandal. Meanwhile, the institution has assured that the truth of the matter would be uncovered. “The attention of the university management has been drawn to a news report trending on social media in respect of an alleged sexual harassment involving an alleged lecturer in the University of Lagos,” it said in a statement on Thursday. “The management has a zero tolerance for allegations pertaining to sexual impropriety and has a well-established policy against such practices. “We wish to reassure all our stakeholders, students, parents, members of staff and the general public that Management will not treat this matter with levity.” MYND44, Lala! http://theflowingink.com/unilag-investigate-sex-mark-scandal/ |

Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Unai Emery as their new head coach, replacing Arsene Wenger at the Emirates. Emery, who joined PSG in June 2016, left the French club at the end of this season, having led them to a domestic treble. The 46-year-old had previously guided Spanish side Sevilla to three Europa League titles. “Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career. “He has also developed some of the best young talents in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly,” Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said in a statement. “His hard work and passionate approach and his sense of value on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward,” Gazidis said. Wenger departed the North London club at the end of last season after nearly 22 years at the helm, helping the team capture three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. Chelsea trio of Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso and Alvaro Morata will miss out of action at the 2018 World Cup after Spain blacklisted them from its 23-man team. Morata, 25, had bagged 11 goals for the Blues in his debut season and played as a substitute in the team's FA Cup triumph on Saturday. Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin was also snubbed for the global soccer fiesta billed for June in Russia. David De Gea, David Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta and Nacho Monreal are the only players from the Premier League called up by the 2010 World champions. "Including four players up front was not something we wanted to do," said manager Julen Lopetegu. "We have opted for three other players who had different assets." Barcelona produced the bulk of the players for the Europeans with 10 of them making the cut. Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa is expected to lead the attacking line during the competition as the team begin their campaign against Portugal on 15 June in Sochi. Spain squad: Goalkeepers: David de Gea (Manchester United), Pepe Reina (Napoli), Kepa Arrizabalaga (Athletic Bilbao). Defenders: Jordi Alba (Barcelona), Nacho Monreal (Arsenal), Alvaro Odriozola (Real Sociedad), Nacho Fernandez (Real Madrid), Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea). Midfielders: Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Isco (Real Madrid), Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich), David Silva (Manchester City), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Saul Niguez (Atletico Madrid), Koke (Atletico Madrid). Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said he would instead leave his seat than compromise his faith as a Christian. Osinbajo noted this on Tuesday while responding to posers raised by some Christian leaders at the stakeholders’ meeting held at the new Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House, Makurdi. According to him, the Catholic Bishop of Gboko, His Lordship, Williams Avenya on the killings in the country, he did not beg to be handed the number two seat in the country. “My Lord Bishop, you said you are not a politician, I am also not a politician. As a matter of fact, I’m also a priest and I’m a Christian, a born again Christian," Osinbajo added. "Because I’m a born again Christian, my destiny is not determined by any man but by God who I serve. “Let me assure you that under no circumstances, none whatsoever, will I give up my faith or refuse to stand up for my faith. “You can take that to the bank. Even the position that I currently occupy, I did not ask for it and I’m prepared to leave it at a short notice. “It doesn’t mean anything. I became a born again Christian after I became a professor, a professor of the law of evidence, a professor of proof. “But when the Lord Jesus Christ met me, He persuaded me by showing me clearly that there is such a thing as the evidence of things that are not seen. “It is because of the evidence of things that are not seen, it is because you can make something out of nothing that I stand here today as Vice-President. “How possible can anyone say that the killing of women and children doesn’t matter because he is Vice-President or because he is President? "How is that possible? Certainly, it cannot be for a person who is born again. A renewed mind will know that there is justice, there is consequence even if there is no justice here on earth.” https://www.concisenews.global/2018/05/17/osinbajo-vows-to-quit-instead-of-compromising-his-faith/ Lala, MYND4 |
The Federal University of Oye Ekiti in Ekiti State has been closed as students protested school fees payment before writing examinations. A statement by the Acting Registrar of the institution Oyeyimika Koyejo-Fasakin, said the move was to prevent breakdown of law and order She said, “The University Management has noticed with concern the evolving issues which surround the students’ protest as regards the ongoing semester examinations. “The management has responded by acceding to most of the demands which have spawned the protests. “And as a mark of further goodwill, the Vice-Chancellor was billed to hold a meeting with the students’ representatives at 13:00 hours on Tuesday, 15th May 2018. “Prior to all these, management had granted a 3-day lecture free period to allow students organise with their parents and guardians as regards their fees. “But despite all these measures of goodwill, some of the students have still decided to turn the University into a theatre for disco music and other non-academic activities which have the potential to cause a breakdown of law and order. “It is against this background that the university has been shut down until normalcy is restored to campus. “Please be informed that the University Management is not insensitive to the plight of students who are yet to fully pay their fees and only dialogue can resolve a matter such as this. “Lastly, we apologise to all our law-abiding students who are having to contend with the brunt of this episode. The resumption of normal academic activities will be communicated in due course.” http://theflowingink.com/federal-varsity-oye-closes-students-protest/ Lala, MYND44.
