PoliticsNorthern Forum Adopts Buhari For Second Term by PenPrince07(op):
President Muhammadu Buhari is the best candidate for the 2019 elections so he can continue his development strides, according to a pro-democracy group, the Northern Alternative Forum (NAF).

Recall that the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and other groups in the North had said they are shopping a replacement for Buhari ahead of the poll.

However, National Chairman of NAF Gidado Ibrahim, said no amount of campaign of calumny against the President will stop Buhari from seeking for re-election to continue his quest to return the country to path of glory.

Ibrahim, noted that there is no better option now, thus, the search for Buhari's replacement should end.

According to him, “after reviewing the outcome of meetings held recently by the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, and other interest groups in the North, we in Northern Alternative Forum have come to the conclusion that shopping for a credible presidential candidate other than President Muhammad Buhari will only come to a dead end.”

PoliticsObasanjo Failed Woefully As President – Adebanjo by PenPrince07(op): 6:25am On Apr 04, 2018
Elder statesman Ayo Adebanjo has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s presidency, between 1999 and 2007, as a “tragedy” and a “calamity.”

Obasanjo had on Monday reiterated that President Muhammadu Buhari had failed Nigerians and as such should not be re-elected for a second term.

But in his autobiography titled Telling it as it is, which was presented in Lagos on Tuesday as part of activities to mark his 90th birthday, Adebanjo described Obasanjo’s reign as woeful.

“The man who carried on as if he was all-in-all failed woefully on all counts as President. His eight-year tenure (1999-2007) was a tragedy. His scorecard is nothing to write home about. What did he do in eight years? Before he came, we were buying fuel (petrol) for N20 per litre, and crude oil was $23 per barrel. In 2007, under his regime, we were buying fuel at N75 per litre, and crude oil was between $65 and $75 per barrel. In the worst days of Abacha, one dollar was over N120,” Adebanjo wrote.

He also accused Obasanjo of causing the collapse of the AD by picking the late Chief Bola Ige, a member of the AD, as a minister in 1999 against the wish of the party.

“As far as I am concerned, the moment Bola Ige joined Obasanjo’s government, following his (Bola Ige) loss of AD’s presidential primaries where he polled six votes against Chief Olu Falae’s 17, marked the beginning of the end for the party. In my opinion, these are the scenarios which led to the collapse of the AD,” he wrote.

PoliticsObasanjo Describes Buhari's Govt As ‘failure’ by PenPrince07(op): 6:30am On Apr 03, 2018
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has claimed that the Muhammadu Buhari government has performed poorly, describing it as a “failure.”

Obasanjo said this on Monday when he received members of the New Nigeria group at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta Ogun State.

“The first lesson I learnt in my military training is never reinforce failure; what we have now is failure. Never you reinforce failure, let failure be failure,” he said.

According to him, “The truth is this – when you have an ineffective and incompetent government, we are all victims and don’t let anybody deceive you.

“Those of you who are in business, your business could have been better today if we have a competent and effective and performing government.”

He also accused Buhari of having a “poor understanding” of the dynamics of internal politics.

“This time, for us to make it, we need all hands on deck,” Obasanjo stated. “I have publicly said and I mean it that as a party, neither PDP nor APC can get us there; never mind about reforms and apology and all that.”

PoliticsNorth Ready To Negotiate Nigeria's Unity - Arewa Consultative Forum by PenPrince07(op): 3:16pm On Mar 31, 2018
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has said that the North is ready to negotiate the country's unity.

Spokesman of the ACF Ango Abdullahi said this recently, adding that many believe the country is a wrongly joined by the British.

“The issue of restructuring, of course, is a subject that we’re ready to discuss with anyone. The issue of the country and its existence is also an issue that we’re prepared to discuss with anyone who questions the very basic need for having the country as it is now; because there are some people who are arguing along those lines that Nigeria, ab initio, had been mistakenly put together by the British," he told a national daily.

"Although some clergymen say it is God; it’s not God. It is the creation of the colonial masters.”

In addition, he noted that the Boko Haram insurgents are not fighting Western education, claiming that some Boko Haram members are PhD holders.

He said, “The Boko Haram phenomenon has nothing to do with Western education. It has never been the basis of its coming into existence.

"Many of the members of Boko Haram are graduates; many active members of Boko Haram are graduates.

"Also, I can tell you that some of them are PhD holders. So, it has got nothing to do with Western education."

Politics#Dapchigirls: Let God’s Will Be Done, Leah Sharibu Tells Mum by PenPrince07(op): 6:04am On Mar 23, 2018
Leah Sharibu, the only Dapchi schoolgirl still in Boko Haram’s den, has sent a message to her mother that the family should pray “for the will of God to be done.”

She is the only Christian among the 110 girls abducted on February 19 that was not released along with 104 others on Wednesday.

Five of the girls were said to have died on the day they were kidnapped from their school in Dapchi, Yobe state.

Her parents have not lost hope of her return.

”The released girls told us that the insurgents insisted that my daughter must renounce her religion. But she told them she had no single knowledge of Islam and could not be a Muslim. She was then left out of the Dapchi trip. They told her that any day she accepts Islam, she will be released,” Mrs Sharibu told Premium Times.

”Leah, we were told was left behind with three Boko Haram women but she sent the message through her mates that we should pray for the will of God to be done in her life.”

Speaking further, she called on the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to negotiate for her daughter’s release.

”So I plead that the government and the negotiation team should revisit the terms of the agreement to ensure the release of my daughter. Everybody has his religion and no one should be compelled to practice a religion he or she never wishes to.”

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday vowed to ensure Leah’s return.

PoliticsOkorocha Says Dapchi Girls’ Return Shows Buhari’s Political Will by PenPrince07(op): 11:52pm On Mar 22, 2018
Imo governor Rochas Okorocha has attributed the release of the 104 Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram to President Muhammadu Buhari’s political will.

Okorocha also said the release justified Buhari’s strength in dealing with such national challenge.

“There is no other way to describe the quick return of the Dapchi School girls than to say that it was a demonstration of high level of Political Will and dedicated leadership, because if the reverse had been the case, the story would have been different,” his media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, said in a statement.

“Even the way and manner the President led the nation out of recession without allowing the development to linger was a clear indication of strong leadership and that is the reason the nation or Nigerians should continue to support him to fully stabilise the polity.”

He added that if the previous leadership had also exerted same Political Will or leadership, all the Chibok Girls would have probably regained their freedom.

EducationJAMB Reveals Reasons For Withheld 2018 UTME Results by PenPrince07(op): 10:06pm On Mar 22, 2018
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said some of the withheld 2018 UTME results was because some of the candidates entered the exam hall with banned items.

JAMB’s  Head of Media and Publicity Fabian Benjamin revealed this on Thursday.

According to him, some of the 2018 UTME results were withheld as  “There were candidates who went into the examination halls with materials that were banned. Telephone handsets and other materials were found on some of them.

“There were even candidates who attempted to change the IP addresses of the computer systems assigned to them.

“There are centres that colluded with candidates. Maybe their owners collected monies from the candidates and were dictating answers”.

In addition, he said he was not sure the 2018 UTME results of the affected candidates would be released,

According to him, the release of the results “depends on the outcomes of the investigations. We are being fair and diligent in the screening to ensure injustice is not done to anyone.”

PoliticsOkupe Dares Sagay To Reveal Buhari, Osinbajo Earnings by PenPrince07(op): 6:09am On Mar 21, 2018
Former presidential media aide to Doyin Okupe has asked controversial Prof. Itse Sagay to disclose the earnings of President Muhammadu Buhari and vice-president Yemi Osinbajo.

Okupe, who served under ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, was reacting to Sagay’s consistent criticism of Nigerian lawmakers, whom he recently said had no sense of service at all.

“What they are earning exceeds the minimum wage by 1,666 times and their productivity is almost nil. All they are doing is to fight the president and bring government down to a standstill,” Sagay, who is the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption (PACAC), had told newsmen in Abuja.

But Okupe, who challenged Sagay to reveal the details of the lawmakers’ pay within 24 hours, said such revelation should be extended to ministers, special advisers to the President and other top government functionaries.

“I find the threat by Prof. Sagay on allowances and running cost of the leadership of the National Assembly very interesting. It will aid our fight for transparency in public affairs,” he said in a statement.

“However, he should not be selective. For us to take him seriously, he should include the details of the running costs of the Office of the President, Vice President, ministers, special advisers, heads of government agencies, parastatals and even himself.”

He advised the senior lawyer to always weigh the possible consequences of his comments to avoid heating up the polity.

JAMB's Head of Media and Information Department Fabian Benjamin said this on Sunday, adding that it is the only way candidates can be identified.

According  to him, those who do not do so, will not be allowed to write the exam.

“We want to clearly state here that any candidate who cannot be identified using biometrics will not be allowed to sit for this examination," Benjamin added.

“So far, over 450,000 candidates have sat for the examination and we have had reported cases where some of the candidates could not be identified as they placed their fingers on the machines for identification.

“Candidates sitting for this examination are not to be identified by mere registration numbers or names, but through the machines.

He noted that, “We know that at the point of registration for this examination, candidates’ details were captured with live photographs as well as their fingerprints.

“So, while going for the examination, it is only expected that candidates should be screened and identified using biometrics.

“This method should be able to call up candidates’ identity and so, there is no way a candidate will just come and mention his name and registration number and be allowed in without going through the right process."

Education5 Reasons Candidates May Not Score High In 2018 UTME by PenPrince07(op): 6:42am On Mar 09, 2018
The 2018 UTME is currently going on in centres across the nation as students seek to gain admission into their choice institutions of learning.

Why some have high hopes of getting better scores to scale through the admission process, the truth is that such targets only end up as hopes - not reality.

There are myriads of reasons you might not get those high scores in the 2018 UTME such as:

You Didn't Plan Your reading

Know your strength and work on your week areas.  Have a time table for the subject and set aside time to study them daily.

Starting early enough gives you the time cover up grounds. In addition, it ensures you don't go into the exam panicking. Reading early helps you not only to cover enough grounds, it gives you time to revise and fix grey areas.

Don't wait until you're a month away from the exam before opening your book.

Inability To make past questions your partner

One of my secondary school teacher had a saying that exam questions are not made from heaven. They are mostly what have been asked before, sometimes with a slight modification. You can get the past  questions for each subject and study them alongside your text.

So,  get all the past questions,  time yourself and answer them like you're in an exam. It gives you a snippet of your abilities ahead the 2018 UTME.

However, don't deceive yourself by opening the back for answers while you are on it. That would not help you.

No study partner

This would ensure you have someone that can push you back when you're veering off the track.  However, let your reading partner be someone with similar visions like you.  You can't afford to partner someone who would drag you down.

Lack of target

Yes,  it is especially important

It is especially important that you have an idea of the kind of score you want. Is it 200? 250? Just ensure you have a range of score in mind.  It'd help you stay on track, give you the drive to continue studying for the utme.

They Depend on Cheating
With the advent of social media, it is easy to see posts urging you to pay to get questions and answers leaked to you.

Aside been wrong, you risk being swindled by fraudsters roaming the internet. Don't fall for their scam, na hustle them dey!
