The design and interior is awesome, a car I wish I could do an engine transplant just to own one. It has this baby jaguar look to it. I think MG bought the company so I saw the newer models with same shape.

My friend used to have one in school then the car almost took him out of school till date we didn't know how he disposed the car we just noticed he got a camry instead. He called the car "agbano" lol I hope I spelt it right money sucking demon.
You just nailed it man. The body is mind-blowing. Guess the bad engine should be the same series used in Land Rover Freelanders. I once usd the SUV and I can tell you the engine is far from durable, it is extra-agbano.

Export, you've said a lot about the Rover 75, yet you've covered nothing.

@PerfectFortune, if you wish to retain your sanity, and not squander a small fortune, please stay away from the Rover 75. All petrol engines fitted to this model were the fragile, and much publicised K-Series motors. Poor aluminium cylinder block casting technique, poor cylinder head sealing, steel liners than sank on the rubber rings they were suspended on.

The results? Blown cylinder head gaskets, most often accompanied by cracked cylinder heads, over heating and a constantly pressurising cooling system, forcing coolant into the oil galleries, filling the sump with an oil / coolant mix, that emulsified and destroyed the crankshaft.

The only robust engine fitted to the Rover 75 was BMW's excellent 2.0 DOHC 16V common-rail direct injection turbodiesel. All Rover K-Series - from the 1.8 14 to the 2.5 V6 were garbage. Even in the hands of a seasoned technician, the K-Series engines are not easy to keep running the way they should.

Unless you truly love the shape of the Rover 75, and are able to cope with the mechanical short comings, I would walk away, and look at other brands. The 75 would try the patience of a saint.
I really appreciate your review, most of the possible constant fault stated are quite common from a number of reviews I'v read so far on other fora.

Since I am yet to get the car, guess I will rather stay away from it for good.

I admire the body though, design is awesome.

PoliticsA Day Of Flood At Ikeja Computer Village (pictures) by PerfectFortune(op): 12:00pm On Nov 19, 2014
It was indeed a day of flood at Ikeja Computer Village yesterday as a heavy downpour of rain leaves a considerable part of Oba-Akran through the under bridge and Awolowa Way completely flooded.

The heavy downfall which stated at about 3:45pm and lasted for about 2hours had several shop owners, street hawkers and traders in the market struggle to keep their goods as it was accompanied with breeze and storm.

A cell phone and other electronic gadget repairer who simply identified himself as Okay Egwu while speaking with Polity Reporters correspondence yesterday cited excessive dumping of refuse on the streets as the major cause of the sorry situation and also call on the State government to instill more effective environmental sanitation in the market owners to avoid future re-occurrence of flood in the area.

“We have never witnessed this type of a thing before in Computer Village. It is the activities of our people that must have lead to this. Too much refuse are being dumped on the street on a daily basis which must have found their way into the drainage thereby blocking it.The Lagos state government need to effect stiffer environmental sanitation so as to avert this type of a thing in the future.” – Okay Egwu

The Computer Village, Ikeja is home to the largest agglomeration of firms and small shops that sell IT hardware, electronics, mobile phones, accessories and consumables. It is also a central market place for the repair of IT hardware, electronics and mobile phones in Nigeria.

PoliticsPDP Must Be Worried Over Tambuwal's Defection- Former Senator by PerfectFortune(op): 9:24am On Oct 30, 2014
Former minister of works and PDP chieftain, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe has said the ruling People’s Democratic Party should be worried over the defection of the speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ogunlewe who stressed this while speaking in an interview with Chamberlain and Suleiman on Channels TV Sunrise daily program this morning said defection was strategic and timely.

“How can PDP say they are not worried that the leader of the House of Representatives is a member of the opposition? They should be worried. Tambuwal’s defection is strategic and the timing is also accurate. They (APC) control things in that house now and the PDP members will have to go to them before they can get things done.” – Sen. Ogunlewe

Adeseye Ogunlewe was elected Senator under the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 1999 for Lagos East constituency. He later defected to the PDP and contested for re-election under the same constituency but was defeated by Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora. He later became the Minister of Works from July 2003 to March 2006.

Aminu tambuwal announced his defection to the APC on Tuesday, days after a rumour of his defection was denied by his spokesman, Mr. Imam Imam. He said his defection was because of his political future and the political consideration of his state.

PoliticsI Don't Believe In Local Govt. Autonomy - LCDA Chairman by PerfectFortune(op): 9:07am On Oct 24, 2014
Hon. Jide Jimoh while speaking with Dapo Aruwajoye on TVC breakfast show yesterday said he does not believe in Local Government autonomy as approved by the National Assembly as part of the on-going 1999 constitution amendments.

The controversial and award winning Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman in Lagos cited true federalism as the way forward where states will be allowed to develop at its own pace.

”We cannot be going to Abuja everytime we needed to get our allocation. Too much power is concentrated at the Central Govt. (FG) and that must be reduced. We need to give more power to the State. I am not against autonomy for the Local Government but definitely not the type of one granted by the NASS.” – Hon. Jide Jimoh

The one-time Councillor under Lagos Mainland Local Government also stated that the Local Govt. autonomy as approved by the NASS is bound to fail as he is confident of its rejection by majority of the states across the federation.

The Senate at its proceedings on Tuesday approved several provisions adopted by the conference committee made up of lawmakers in both the Senate and the House of Representatives on the amendment of the 1999 constitution which include Local Govt. Autonomy and removal of Immunity Clause for elected office holders.

FamilyCry Of A Mother: Aisha Falode Writes An Open Letter To Nigerians by PerfectFortune(op): 3:02pm On Oct 21, 2014
Aisha Falode, veteran broadcaster writes an open letter to Mr. President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and all Nigerians over seemingly sluggish response of the Nigerian government to the continuous increase in impunity and dastardly act perpetrated by the Dubai government and its agencies against young Nigerians which has led to the murder of her son, Toba and recently DSP Alamieyeseigha’s son; demands for justice eight months after her son Toba was murdered.

“It is with a heavy heart that I read about the death of the son of Chief Alameiyeseigha on the streets of Dubai; an incident that immediately jolted me back in time thanks to the bizarre similarities to that of my son as regards “cause of death”. My son was said by the Dubai authorities to have jumped down from a balcony, dismissing it as “suicide”, same with Chief Alameiyeseigha’s son.

I am saddened that this has happened despite my nationwide campaign to stop this happening AGAIN by putting all relevant government agencies on notice, in vain. For record emphasis, my son was thrown from the balcony of a 17th floor apartment in Manchester Tower in Dubai.

A Saudi boy resident in Dubai confessed to the murder; he had my son’s blood on his t-shirt, he had my son’s blood on his knuckles and boasted about serving time for 25 years in prison if it comes to the worst. His murderer has a name-Faisal Aldakmary Al-Nasser. There were witnesses to this murder, they have written statements verbally and orally corroborating what the murderer said.

I have put all this together to make this easy for the Nigerian government to help me get justice for my son in Dubai. I warned the Nigerian government that Nigerian youths were being killed in Dubai on a daily basis as confirmed by our embassy in Dubai.

I also warned parents about the danger of Dubai. I also stated repeatedly, that if justice was not gotten for my son that another murder will happen. Indeed there have been many more after my son although not mentioned because they do not have a voice. But now, there is one so close to government that has been struck. I did not have to be a soothsayer to know this. Many more will happen until we get Justice for Toba Falode, and all those who have been murdered in cold blood in Dubai.

We cannot stand by and watch our youths lives being down played over and above “collaboration and partnership” with a country that hates us with so much passion, that they are cutting down the lives of our young ones in cold blood crudely and viciously and yet we seek “partnership and collaboration” in investment with this same country.

Our ambassador in the UAE, AmbassadorIbrahim Auwalu, must be called back to Nigeria to answer to every young soul that has been lost to Dubai unaccounted for due to his lack of responsibility in office. The Foreign Ministry also, must be asked questions on what they have done about Toba Falode’s case 8 months after.

“It took Israel less than 48 hours to act on the loss of their 3 youths. 8 months after Toba Falode’s murder, we are still waiting on the Nigerian government to give us any kind of reaction on the loss of a young life-Toba Falode in Dubai. Even after submitting every evidence, our protest, police reports corroborating the fact that my son was murdered, we still have gotten no response at all from the Nigerian government. Take a queue from Israel.

And the Nigerian Government for once should start acting like a big country with so much might and power that it is in the continent and indeed in the world and go after Dubai for justice for every young soul and every Nigerian life that has been cut short in Dubai. We send our sympathy and condolences to DSP Alamieyeseigha. The family and friends of their son, we empathise with them because we have been through and are still going through it and it is nothing we wish for any parent which was our concern from the start.

This, is one death too many. May it not happen again.”

Aisha Falode.

CelebritiesSexual Assult: 20 Things Never To Say To A Victim Who Confides In You by PerfectFortune(op): 3:53pm On Oct 16, 2014
This list is by no means exhaustive. Unfortunately, many people will know or do know someone who’s a survivor of a sexual assault or rape. If you find yourself in the position of confidant, please choose your words carefully. They can make the world of difference. (This list is heteronormative because it’s an account of personal experiences. However, sexual violence is by no means just male-on-female. People of all genders commit sexual violence against people of the same or a different gender.)

1. “Are you sure that happened?”

I know you’re shocked. But asking me if I’m sure if I was assaulted is a HUGE slap in the face. Yes, I know what happened to me. I remember every detail because it plays over and over in my head.

2. “Was he DRUNK?”

The emphasis on the “drunk” part comes off as though you believe there is no way this person could do something like this unless he were under the influence (which still doesn’t make his actions excusable). If you are friends with him, it will be even harder for you to imagine your friend committing an act of sexual violence. If you don’t believe the person is that “type” to do such a thing, don’t let me know you’re skeptical, because that weakens the trust and safety I feel confiding in you.

3. “Tell me EXACTLY what happened.”

I know you’re experiencing some denial that this has happened to someone you know. But you have to understand that it is extremely triggering for someone to recount every detail of a traumatic experience. And when you persist, it seems as though you’re looking for details to “validate” that this was in fact an assault, especially if you know who did this (see #2).

4. “Why didn’t you tell me before?”

Regardless of how close we are, it’s not easy for someone who’s been through a traumatic experience to bare their soul right away. Just because I didn’t tell you immediately after it happened doesn’t mean I don’t trust you. It’s hard to put words to an incident that I wish had never happened in the first place.

5. “Are you okay now?”

No, I’m not. But, I know you want me to say “yes” so you can stop worrying about me and we can go back to the happy BFFs we were before. Eventually I just give up and say “yes” so you’ll stop asking so many times.

6. “Why are you still upset?”

I didn’t know there was an expiration date on pain, depression, confusion, and the myriad of other emotions I’m experiencing.

7. “How long will it take for you to get better?”

I don’t know how long it will take. Trust me, I’m doing everything I can.

8. “But you look fine.”

Just because I don’t walk around with my head down and an unkempt appearance, and I don’t communicate in grunts instead of English, doesn’t mean I’m not hurting inside. Sometimes, I don’t want to talk about it. Sometimes, I don’t have the energy to mentally take myself to that traumatic place.

9. “Just don’t think about it.”

Because that’s so easy, right? We all know what eventually happens to bottled-up emotions.

10. “You need to be strong.”

Telling me to just be strong is like telling me to lift myself up from my bootstraps.

11. “In X years you won’t really care about this.”

This isn’t some embarrassing fall in the middle of the dining hall. The recovery process is a long and rocky road, and I don’t need anyone, especially a close friend, brushing the incident off as “something that we’ll all laugh about in X years”.

12. “It could’ve been worse.”

Very true. That doesn’t make what happened to me any less severe. That doesn’t mean I’ll say, “Gee, you’re right. What am I even upset about?” The fact that it could’ve been worse doesn’t make me feel better in the slightest.

13. “You can always come to me whenever you need me.”

It’s okay to let me know that you don’t think you’re someone who can provide the support I need, because this is a delicate and traumatic situation to deal with. Suggesting I reach out to a counselor or other resources is perfectly okay. I promise I won’t be offended.

14. “I understand how you feel.”

Yes, you know how it feels to cry, to be hurt, scared, and confused. But unless you have been through a sexual assault or rape yourself, do not tell me you understand how I feel. You and I both know that you don’t, and you saying this makes me more angry than comforted. Being close to a survivor and being a survivor yourself are two completely separate things.

15. “This is about me, too.”

It is never, ever about you. Yes, you’re upset that something awful has happened to me. Yes, you may know the person who hurt me, and now you’re in this position to “choose” between us. Nonetheless, what you’re feeling as the friend of a survivor is no match for what a survivor feels.

16. “You could be fabricating this whole thing.”

Never do so much as to even insinuate that I am or could be lying. I promise you, I’m not faking the depression, the tears, and “I want to kill myself”’s that you see and hear.

17. “This isn’t fair to me to be in this position. I wish you never told me.”

Do you even hear yourself? I know it’s tough to be hit with cold, hard reality. But for you to tell me that it’s not fair for YOU to know what I’ve been through is selfishness and immaturity at its finest.

18. “Why didn’t you ______?”

Never, ever, EVER, ask me why I didn’t act differently. Survivors always blame themselves first for what happened, and the fact that you’re asking me why I didn’t do ____, which may have caused a different chain of events, strengthens the internal blame, guilt, and self-loathing that I’m struggling with.

19. “Does he know how this has affected you? Maybe he’d be sorry if he knew.”

Whether or not he would be “sorry” if he knew how upset I am after the incident, don’t ever try to paint said perpetrator in a sensitive, caring light. That doesn’t mean you need to bash him. But don’t try to reassure me that he’d be eternally remorseful if he knew how hurt I am.

20. “Girls always say ‘no’, they’re just afraid. I always push them and eventually they give in… It would be beneficial to you to keep this between us.“

This last one doesn’t follow the trend, but was said to me by the guy himself. I didn’t know where to begin: the fact that you just looked me in the eyes and told me this after I found the courage to confront you about the incident afterwards? The fact that you (and countless others) believe it’s okay to force someone against their will to engage in sexual activities because you know they’re “just scared”? The fact that I wasn’t the first one you “strongly encouraged”? Or, the fact that you’re trying to save face by attempting to convince me that it would be beneficial to ME to not tell anyone what YOU did? Out of this entire list, this one had the most impact on me, and I know I’ll remember these words for the rest of my life. Because sexual violence has existed, still exists, and will continue to exist on this earth, please, PLEASE choose your words carefully if you ever find yourself in the position of confidant. When in doubt, it’s okay to say, “I don’t know what to say”. And remember, no matter how upset, confused, frustrated you are, what you’re feeling is NOWHERE near how your friend is feeling. If you know someone who is a survivor of sexual assault or rape, do not hesitate to reach out to resources, either for your friend or for yourself. If you are a survivor of sexual assault or rape, please reach out. I know it’s hard. I know you may feel embarrassed to talk about it. But no matter how alone you feel, please know that you aren’t.

GeneralShepherd:
Comparing the ebola situation in America with what happened in Nigeria is the fallacy of false equivocation.

It is common knowledge that ebola started from a case zero in Nigeria like in America, but there is a difference.

1. American Healthcare system is more robust, better equipped and has a better structure than the Nigerian system. This means the risk of an outbreak is minimal.

Nigeria had only Mr.Sawyer and we know what we battled to curtail ebola.

2. The most important factor to consider is that our borders are very porous. This means that there is a risk of illegal entry of ebola infected individuals.. This can only mean that before the government finds out, it might be too late for an effective containment plan.

Where as it is more difficult to illegally enter USA from West Africa
I quite understand your point but beg to differ a little.

Nigerians have in no way been better treated with stigma of Ebola than Liberia and S/L which are confirmed with higher cases of the virus.

America at the moment has not been certified ebola free and it is still too early to conclude they have been able to curtail the virus. Just last week, parents withdrew their kids out of schools in dallas over ebola scare.

Don't forget, Partrick Sawyer that brought the disease to Nigeria is an American, though with African root.

I believe the guy (FLAVOR) should have been tested instead of being withdrawn him from the show.

The guy (story) I quoted too should have been excused quietly without having to create unnecessary attention/stigma.

Your points may be true but not void of complexity.

You have made a very good point. However, you don't have to choose btw "Jonathan" and "Atiku" (doubt if APC will field him) as APC and PDP are not the only political parties in the country even though they remain the largest.

I'm currently in Milan Italy for a training(job related). All the while I had been getting along with all my colleagues from other countries around the world.

On wednesday, I got called out while in the middle of a group work presentation.
The lady 'politely' announced to the whole class I had to be excused for a few minutes for 'ebola awareness'.

By the time I came back to class 20minutes later....i had no friend again.

I later complained to the training organisers and the lady came back next day to explain to the class, it was nothing serious, just a little. Chit chat required with all 'ebola countries' participants, but for wier, the harm had already been done.....everybody avoided me, except the Angola and Ghana participants.

The Ebola stigma for Nigeria, is still very much out there.
As much as I might try to understand the stigma (maybe it is actually necessary), do they have the balls to same to all American participants if there is any? If no, then it is simply another opportunity for them to be racially mean/bias without being suspected.

HealthEbola: Parents Pulling Kids Out Of Dallas Elementary School Over Scare(picture) by PerfectFortune(op):
Some parents have temporarily removed their children from Dallas schools after learning that five students may have come into contact with the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S.
School administrators urged calm. None of the children have shown symptoms and are being monitored at home, where they will likely remain for three weeks, Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Mike Miles said Wednesday.

But Marcie Pardo and other parents left L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary indicating that they were taking no chances and would keep their children home for the rest of the week.

"Kids pretty much touch everything. Not everyone washes their hands," Pardo said. "It's the contagious part that gets me worried."

Ebola isn't contagious until symptoms appear, and then it can spread only by close contact with a patient's bodily fluids. Pardo said that knowledge makes her feel better, but that she still took her 8-year-old daughter, Soriah, home from school early, along with her cousin.

Tucked in a quiet neighborhood of tree-lined streets, Hotchkiss is one of four campuses in Dallas that Miles says the five students attended. He said the district is taking an "abundance of caution" and would add more health workers to keep watch for symptoms among students.

The district also planned to deploy more custodial workers to the campuses, which include another elementary school, two middle schools and a high school.

"The students didn't have any symptoms, so the odds of them passing on any sort of virus is very low," Miles said.

Ebola is believed to have sickened more than 7,100 people in West Africa, and more than 3,300 deaths have been linked to the disease, according to the World Health Organization. Symptoms can include fever, muscle pain, vomiting and bleeding, and can appear as long as 21 days after exposure to the virus.

Health officials say the five children are among 12 to 18 people being monitored after exposure to the man, who was listed in serious but stable condition at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

It was not exactly clear how the Ebola patient knew the children, but his sister said he had been visiting with family including two nephews. Officials have not revealed the ages of the children who had contact with the man.

It was not exactly clear how the Ebola patient knew the children, but his sister said he had been visiting with family including two nephews. Officials have not revealed the ages of the children who had contact with the man.

BetaThings: Was Gani Fawehinmi the only morally upright Nigerian lawyer?

There is a time for everything
Some people really fear God
I have a friend who links all his issues to God's punishments. If he has a quarrel with his wife and does not resolve it and has a scrape on his car from another car, he attributes that to the quarrel with his wife
Do you think a journalist thinking that way will cover up a matter involving loss of lives?
You can cover up the refusal of the FG to fulfill promises made to Super Eagles but death due to negligence?

Avoid suspicion; don't be so certain - others might be so certain about your own intention in the future
If we believe there is ZERO altruism then there is no hope
You've got valid points there. I sure believe only time will tell what his intentions really are.

Reuben Abati, Festus Kiyamo, Com. Gani Adams have all at one time acted to saints and seemingly different from others but the story is different today.

Only time will tell my Bro....

crown777: Shame on you and people that likes your dumb statement. Dis is Nigeria let us make it right. We are talking about innocent souls. May their souls rest in perfect peace.
You are sooooo naïve. Does it mean Nicolas is the only morally upright reporter in the country? And was it his first time of getting such advances? Am in no way supporting what happened at the Synagoge and strongly believe Justice must be served but it is not new where press are bought to write positive stories and that doesn't mean the truth can't be published anyway.

Nicolas for me has seen a way to hit his gold mine and not really about morality.

Only time will tell on that.

Ramnon2: But no British or American public figure will bribe journalists not to publish the fact. In fact, any attempt at that will land them in court. Yes, no?
You can't be sure of that. There is a lot of conspiracy theories going on out there and the press have always been involved.
