Moyosore Ogunlewe, lawyer turned politician son of the former minister of works, has said his dad, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe does not have a single property outside Nigeria. Barrister Moyosore said this while reacting to a question in an exclusive interview with Metro Times NG at his residence. He also expressed disappointment over politicians grossly enriching themselves and their families with public funds, says Nigerians need to look beyond party politics in other to make the right decision at all times. His words: “A lot of people don’t know that my father, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe is a much disciplined man. We don’t have a single toilet in the UK or anywhere else outside Nigeria. As I speak to you, we have only three houses in Nigeria – there is one in Igbogbo (Ikorodu area), one in Ikorodu town and the one given to him as a perm sec. He doesn’t even have a land anywhere else…not in Abuja, Lekki or Ikoyi. “We have a lot of thieves parading themselves as politicians in Nigeria today. They claim to be our leaders whereas they are our killers. They feed us with all sorts of lies before the elections and immediately after getting hold of the mantle of office, they are nowhere to be found. It is really disappointing and Nigerians need to begin to look beyond party politics to get it right.” On the issue of perceived delay in President Muhammadu Buhari’s economic reform policies and nomination of his cabinet, the young politician and entrepreneur said it is too early to start criticizing the president, urging Nigerians to be more patient, put political interest aside and support him in moving the country forward. “I want to urge Nigerians to put all personal, political….whatever interest aside and join hands with Mr. President in moving the country forward. I mean, it is too early for anybody to start tagging the president as incompetent when it is obvious that the nation is currently on the right path. We should all give him a chance to prove himself as the current Nigeria situation is that which requires one to make haste but slowly. A lot has been achieved in three months of his stay in office and a lot obviously needs to be achieved. I believe Mr. President deserves the right to be given a chance to fix things as he deems appropriate.” The Buckingham University graduate also restates his commitment to continue to help the youth especially in the area of education and training by partnering with stakeholders to bring about positive development as way of reducing youth rascality within Kosefe area of Lagos. Moyosore Ogunlewe contested under the platform of the PDP for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency II and was defeated by a slight margin of 87votes by closest rival Hon. Bayo Osinowo of APC. Rigging has been alleged and the case is currently at the tribunal for hearing. http://metrotimesngr..com.ng/2015/09/we-dont-have-single-toilet-in-uk-100.html

Bad Belle. It's really a wicked world we live in. |
MONETA, Va. — According to a former WDBJ employee, Vester L. Flanagan — the man authorities say they’re seeking in connection with Wednesday’s fatal shooting of two journliasts — worked at WDBJ as a reporter about a year using the on-air name Bryce Williams. The former employee said Flanagan was fired from the station, though the reason for the firing was not made public. A law enforcement source briefed on the search said it is believed that Flanagan is still in the Virginia area. Police are searching for Flanagan, who killed a WDBJ news reporter and photojournalist at Smith Mountain Lake Wednesday morning, an image of the suspect appears to have been captured on the photojournalist’s camera. The image showed a man holding a gun, pointing the weapon at the camera. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Wednesday in a live interview with WTOP radio that police are pursuing the suspect, and that they hope to have him in custody soon. McAuliffe confirmed that authorities know who the suspect is. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is participating in the manhunt. Area schools are on lockdown. WDBJ general manager Jeff Marks identified the shooting victims as 24-year-old Alison Parker and 27-year-old Adam Ward. Parker and Ward were in the midst of a live feature report from Bridgewater Plaza when anywhere between six and eight gunshots rang out. The camera then dropped to the ground and the broadcast cut back to the anchor desk. “We are working with police to get to the bottom of this senseless crime,” WDBJ general manager Jeff Marks said. “How can this individual have robbed these families, the families of Alison and Adam of their lives and their happiness and their love.” http://wtvr.com/2015/08/26/camera-captures-image-of-shooter-who-killed-va-news-crew/ MONETA, Va. — A video showing the shooting of two members of a WDBJ news crew during a live television broadcast Wednesday was posted to social media, apparently by the suspected shooter. The suspect, identified by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office as Vester L. Flanagan, mentioned he recorded video in one tweet and posted two video clips in subsequent tweets. The Twitter account has since been suspended. Two videos posted on a Twitter account under Flanagan’s on-air name Bryce Williams show someone walking up to the WDBJ news crew and pointing a gun at them. One of the videos shows the gun firing. Another tweet says, “I filmed the shooting.” http://wtvr.com/2015/08/26/wdbj-shooter-tweets-video-of-fatal-news-crew-shooting/ The latest report was that the suspect shot himself. There is no further explanation on his state of health as the time of posting this story.

Here is a picture of two homeless people. Who would you help? The one who needs money for weed or that who needs money to feed his hungry family?

I really don't understand the noise about PMB not naming ministers yet. |

By MetroTimesNG For every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. The current fuel crisis that have held majority of Nigerians on their knees begging for mercy is not without its benefits; legally or illegally. In this article, we look at 5 benefits of the current fuel crisis. i. NEED FOR ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF ENERGY The current fuel crisis is a huge eye-opener on the need for our dear country to look inward, strategize and develop/promote alternative means of energy. With less than 7weeks of fuel scarcity, several high profile companies in Nigeria including telecoms and banking have been reaching out to customers informing them of a possible break in transmission or inconsistence in quality of service. It is however now clear to most them that it is important for them to start considering other sources of energy in other to fore-stall future re-occurrence of the shortage. ii. PRUDENCY IN POWER USAGE BY NIGERIANS Unavailability of fuel has forced Nigerians with carefree attitude towards power usage to begin to see caution. Nigerians for instance without fuel shortage while on generator during day-time would put on everything in their apartment from the TV set in the sitting room, bedroom to the smallest bulb in the pantry but in the season of fuel shortage, it was a different ball game. A fashion designer in my area for instance who normally while on “better pass” gen would put on his 2electric sowing machines as well as a radio and a fan refused to do so citing the need for him to save energy and maximize the use of the little available fuel. iii. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY The fuel scarcity while stylishly closing/leading to the intermittent closure of several businesses and reducing the hope of starting new ones is also providing a means of business or employment opportunity to several others. It is no doubt that a lot of Nigerians want the FG to put quickly put an end to the lingering fuel scarcity, a host of others simply want it to continue. If you take a walk to Onipan through Fadeyi, Ikorodu Road, Lagos during the peak of the scarcity, you will notice quit a number of able bodied young men taking advantage of the situation by selling fuel in 10litres jerry-cans popularly known as “black-market”. To these set of people, the plight of majority of Nigerians has suddenly turned to a source of income and they hope it remain the same so they can continue to put food on their table not minding the ripple effect- inflation it may generate. iv. HIGHER SOURCE OF INCOME The lingering fuel scarcity has led to an increase in inflation. Inflation in a lay man’s language is a situation whereby more money is chasing fewer goods i.e demand is considerably higher than supply thereby leading to a sharp increase in price of such goods/services. Business owners have increased the price of their commodities owing to an increase in pump price which has in-turn affected logistics. Some business owners who are not directly affected by the crisis are also taking advantage of the situation to make more profit. A shoe shiner (shoe maker) was contracted to help in polishing a pair of shoe, the tall dark-skinned man said “oga…na N40 o. you know everything don put money as fuel no dey now”. I began to wonder what fuel crisis has got to do with shinning a shoe. As far as I know, the price of shoe polish has not increased and fuel is not needed to power the hand of the shoe-shiner. It is just an opportunity to make more money. v. EYE-OPENER TO GOVT.’S HIGH LEVEL OF INSENSITIVITY When over 200 girls were abducted and the govt. of the day chose not to believe, investigate and take action for about 16days, some said the govt. was not properly informed, some think they needed more time to be sure they (#ChibokGirls) were truly abducted while others believe the govt. failed. The present administration has been termed by many as incompetent, careless and clueless about the welfare of its citizenry but not many could ascertain its level of carelessness and insensitivity to pressing issues. The current fuel crisis which has been allowed to linger for too long to the extent that small, medium and large scale businesses are begging for mercy is an eye-opener for many. The govt. for a few weeks has alleged sabotage as the reason for the crisis; but the question on the lips of many Nigerians is- who is to curb sabotage? They wonder why the people elected to lead them keep passing bulk; blaming others for their incompetence when they are in control of all apparatus and can be more firm & decisive.

BubbleFire:Lol...PDP can steal anything stealable. I understand the Hon's plight. Having spent a lot of money campaiging and canvassing only to be denied the right to be voted for by INEC. If he has enough evidence to back his claim, they may have a re-run |
Metro-TimesNG The general elections conducted on March 28th and April 11th 2015 was adjudged to be free and fair by many observers. The United States of America’s president, Barack Obama also commended the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega for his outstanding and sterling performance during the elections saying what the professor of political science had done deserves emulation by all. In a sharp contrast, the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) Ogun-state House of Assembly candidate for Yewa-South/Egbado constituency Mr. Dolapo Olayinka Olaofe has alleged his deliberate disenfranchisement by INEC to favour the PDP in the April 11th general elections. In an exclusive interview with Metro-TimesNG at his residence in Ago-Eyo, Owo, Oke-Odan ward, Yewa-South, Abeokuta, Ogun-state, Yinka Olaofe expressed dissatisfaction over the deliberate removal of his name from the list of candidates contesting in the elections describing it (the election) as a sham. May we meet you? My name is Dolapo Olayinka Olaofe. I contested under the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in the just concluded general elections for Yewa-South/Egbado-South, Ogun-state. The last election was adjudged by many to be one of the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history. America’s president, Barack Obama also commended the INEC boss, Prof. Jega for doing the magic. Do you share the same view with this set of people? By Nigeria’s standard; by our past or pseudo-election standards, the 2015 election has much to praise but it will be overrating it to say it is free and fair. I mean, what are the criteria used in arriving at those conclusions? For instance in my own case, I realized late in the day (April 11th) that my name was not on the list of candidates that are supposed to contest in the election even though my party’s name and logo was on the ballot paper and I was duly voted for. There are so many issues here and there and we still have a lot to do terms of our electoral reforms. So, as far as I am concerned, the election was far from being free and fair. You said your name was omitted from the list of contestants, why was that? My name was omitted and it is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise me in other to favour the PDP candidate. How else do you explain the fact that my party’s logo was printed on the ballot paper and I was voted en-masse but my votes were voided by INEC who refused to count all votes casted for me and UPN saying my name was not on the list of contestants? When I went to their (INEC) office in Ogun-state, I was told the mistake is from Abuja. INEC collaborated with PDP to steal my mandate and disenfranchise the good people of my constituency and am determined to get it back through the court. Do you think your party UPN might have played a role in the entire scenario? No….I honestly disagree with that because my party did all necessary things expected of it. We had our forms filled and submitted, we had our clearance on the 25th of December, 2014…….so I will not blame my party on this one. How popular do you think you are when it comes to Ogun-state politics? I am indeed very very popular and I believe that if my name was not “omitted” and the votes were counted I would have gotten more votes than the declared winner…….by that I mean I would have won the election. How far are you willing to go with this case? I am willing to go the extra mile; doing the right thing to ensure that justice is served. The case is at the tribunal at the moment and God willing we will get a date for the hearing very soon. Mandate belongs to the people and we cannot allow the electoral umpire to take it away from them. What prompted your decision to go into politics? I felt it is time to get directly involved in politics so I can bring about the desired change in Ogun-state. We cannot continue to sit on the fence and watch things go bad while we complain. I mean, it is our duty to serve our people and that prompted my decision to go into politics. It is about service for me. http://metrotimesngr..com/2015/05/inec-collaborated-with-pdp-to.html

ShowYourCertificate:Low oil revenue, militancy and insurgency may cripple GMB or Nig (u and I)? There are so many things you people don't understand. You lots (GEJ apologists) want the incoming govt to fail not minding the impact of his failure on all Nigerians including urself and ur entire family. Majority of Nigerians never wanted GEJ to fail, I don't think we wanted our Naira to exchange for over 210 to a dollar. I dnt think we wanted to go through difficulty before getting fuel that we already buy at ridiculous rates. We never wanted to be bombed and killed at will by insurgrnts thereby restricting our movement within our own country. The Govt we all voted only failed in fulfilling its duties and was voted out. I doubt if you have ever benefitted from the govt (GEJ), only sympathetic to it. When you wish the country badluck; you need to know you might be wishing urself one. |
SeverusSnape:You need to be more professional in criticism. Sen. Aloysius Etok made it known and not GMB. GMB did not actually come out to say most of the things accredited to him; his loyalists and others hoping to get smthg frm his govt did. |
Why the fear if innocent? Am in total support of his extradition if guilty. How long are we going to be led by criminals whose main aim in government is to milk us dry? |
ozoigbondu:The pictures of girls displayed by Boko Haram tallied with the ones released by WAEC and CAN you know? I don't believe evrything about BH but I pray may you and your family never fall victim IJN |
ozoigbondu:Boko Haram claimed to have abducted them with video evidence and some mothers from Chibok claimed to have had their daughters abducted. Need more evidence ? |
TR0UBLeMaKeR:If that's you in your DP, then you must be a real trouble-maker. |
OneNaira6:I don't think all oil blocks belong to Yorubas and Hausas; that must be a fallacy even though their is possibility they own the majority some must belong to South Southerner and some to SEstnrs respectively depending on your investment strenght. I don't think somebody from the SS or SE will be denied ownership of oil rigs while they easily give same to the Yorubas and the Ibos. You need to also understand that even the state govt (SS/SE) controls and owns some of the oil blocks which caused one of Amaechi's grouse with GEJ/PEJ. Spare part markets in Lagos as well as other electronics markets and okrika markets are dominated by the Igbos and I don't think that happened because the Yorubas were sidelined but because they (yorubas) chose to concentrate on other businesses rather than the listed while the ibos decided to focus on the listed. That doesn't also mean we don't have the Yorubas in those markets only may not be as much as the Ibos. There are a lot of Ibos and SS doing Oil businesses, onshore and offshore. |
OneNaira6: |
cktheluckyman:In as much as you have a point and I understand what u'r driving at, they are two different situation. It is one thing to say the resources or funds generated in Lagos belongs to all Nigerians and another to say you want to rule/take-over Lagos because it's a no-man's Land. The oil rich region belongs to some people and they have their indegenes even though the resources belongs to all Nigerians. You don't expect a Yoruba man for instance to say he wants to rule/take-over Rivers State because it's a no-man's land; it doesn't work that way. The Oil rich region/ppl of SS are even given special preference when it comes to employment and benefits from oil. While they even seek for more in terms shearing formular and others. Imagine a Yoruba group leader in Imo or Enugu saying he wants to have the same recognition as their first class King like Obi of Onitsha. Resources may belong to all but rulership belongs to the people of the region (Indegenes). |
dapsonlou:The article says Oba Otudeko was the Chairman of the occasion as well as a longtime family friend of the Ogunlewes. He was never said to be the Bride's father. |
shammah1:Well said. Pepper is no match for Moyo. Only a pity he was able to find his way through (temporarily). A redress I believe will be sort in court and hopefully he may regain his mandate. |
manuelpepper:Where on earth did you get the idea from? The wife was not pregnant. So stop spreading false information besides it's a matter of choice whether to get pregnant before marriage or not. |
emilyone:Sure. It's not easy to have a lavish wedding a week after losing an election (after spending a lot). Only money bags do that. Btw: you must really like that...you know what I mean..."That" |
